Agreed. I mean, I give a lot of leeway for k-dramas since they just.. are slower in general than j-dramas are. I will definitely finish the devil, I just need breaks occasionally. I also don't like the detective as much in the Devil. He's.. less likable for some reason haha.
I'm taking my time with it for now. I intended to watch it before I watched Maou, but it just didn't happen. I like the pacing in Maou a lot better and I have a huge interest in the criminal mind, so Maou was more interesting (:
Plus it used flash backs far more effectively, though I think k-dramas in general just like to overuse flash backs.

I was just admiring your drama list like a stalker (: Maou is one of my all time faves too~
Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of romances at all. But Yoon Sung and Nana are probably my favorite couple in a drama to date. It makes me happy that Nana is not a pathetic idiot who can't do anything for herself. And it helps that Park Min Young is adorable (:
I can watch this one over and over.
I love both versions, honestly. However, the best thing about Maou is that it takes the amazing story line and cuts out all the slow parts. If you like a lot of build up and a relatively slower pace, you'll probably prefer The Devil over Maou. However, suspense lovers will definitely enjoy Maou more imo (: I personally liked seeing things from the lawyer's perspective (his personality is far more interesting, in both versions), so I lean a little more towards Maou.
Can this movie be watched on its own, or do you really need to see the others in the series to make sense of it?
hmm.. I suppose you could watch it on it's own, but there would be some confusions I think on past events if you don't know of them.

When I was watching it, I was like "Wow.. that guy looks really familiar." And his name crossed my mind, so I looked it up.
Not until afterwards though, so I watched Gokusen without knowing either XD Feels silly, but he matured quite a bit since Gokusen, so.. that's my excuse hahah.

I loveeeed him in Gokusen! At first I didn't even recognize him. But yeah, he plays both types of roles really well.~
I think I just have a thing for the kind of.. -near- crazy types like J in Bloody Monday. Genius, but kind of crazy, ya'know? haha

As usual. Sigh.
But isn't he? He plays an amazing villain, don't you think? I wouldn't mind seeing him in those kinds of roles more often
