i think you've hit every point i was thinking when watching the series. maybe it's because i have been consuming japanese BL content since i was really young that all these cliches didn't even made me flinch. found them weird and some of them even disgusting but i couldn't even bat an eye because at this point it seems we are not gonna progress past these weird fetishization towards our community. while i believe the show was enjoyable (watchable(?) at that), i completely agree with you in every point you made there. sadly this is the reality we will have to face very time as long as cishet people continue to monopolize media and won't let people from the community create their own worlds. i have been digging on most of the interviews regarding mewgulf and the series and read the comments below and it's so clear these series are targeted towards straight women that just want to see hot guys making out and, for what i've read these past weeks after finishing the show, i am glad i could finally encounter someone on the internet (even though the review is old) that knows very well the type of media they are consuming and won't tolerate some things that happen in them, thank you for this review, really.
