On My Liberation Notes Apr 12, 2022
It's been SO LONG since I liked a drama that much after first two episodes. I just can't get over how good the lines were since the beginning. I remember I used to write down some lines from My Mister since they were so amazing, like poems, and I feel like it'll be also the case with this drama. I love how it's all so mysterious and even though it feels like slow pace drama we just can't guess what will happen next and I'm thrilled for the next episodes.
I think it's important that we get dramas which voice loudly lot of people's internal worries and struggles and it's not something that we have to live though no matter what but it's something of big importance, something that doesn't need to be taken lightly, like how Mijeong isn't a talkative person but wishes to be good with words, how she doesn't find joy in her life and all relationships feel like labour she has to put effort in and she doesn't feel liked by anyone unconditionally. For other person with different mindset, situation or personality this may feel stupid but for the concerned person it feels so big and heavy and helpless. Ughh, I love it so much already.
The lines in 2nd episodes where so good, especially the conversation about Mijeong and Hyeonah. <3

can someone explain the scene in ep 1 with the sister and the guy and his kid at the bbq place? i dont really…
I know there's already a reply but I don't think it was accurate. The older sister was talking how dating a divorced man with a kid is hard, that she doesn't care about the kid since it's not hers and she just want a relationship but the man makes everything about his kid. And then they noticed a man is sitting with his daughter alone so it clicked for them he must be single dad. Then a woman came and they whispered it must be the mother but it was the aunt of the little girl. Then the man basically said that the divorce was hard but the marriage gave him his daughter so he doesn't regret (so even if dating a man like him can be hard, he doesn't regret anything and it's not really the man's fault).

I'm thinking about starting this once all the episodes are out. How similar is the vibe to My Mister so far??
I'd say it's very similar., overall it's the same writer. There's a lot of inner monologue of main character about her feeling but there's also a lot of lines about life (which I already love), how the characters are uncertain about their life, relationships, job, future and needs. But here we have more characters and some are more bold, charismatic.

Overall the drama was cute! It was also shot very nicely, it almost didn't feel like a webdrama. I read manhwa recently and I really liked it and also couldn't help comparing it to the drama. Ngl there were a few things that I liked in manhwa more. Mostly, in manhwa Haeyoon still was interested in baseball and supported Taeju through it, it was missed and it made me sad, because that was literally the thing that connected them again. Plus here Haeyoon is almost immediately falling in love with him while in manhwa she was still seeing him as precious childhood friend and wanted to stay as friends since she 1) haven't realized romantic feeling towards him (she did only later), 2) was still feeling weird meeting Taeju as a girl so she lowkey wanted to keep a distance. Another important point was that Taeju liked Haewon (boy Haeyoon) when they were kids, and it was clearly said he liked him romantically (plus later as a girl too so Taeju pan canon <3). In the drama it was just said he missed him. But one thing I liked in the drama was the explanation how Haewon's gender changed. In manhwa it just happened. No backstory, no nothing, that was lacking lol.

Siwan described the drama as "pastel colors" in recent W Korea interview and I just couldn't agree more! This drama is totally pastel-like. A lot of things is happening but all of it is so soft and lovely yet real, the imaginary aspect of it doesn't overwhelm you, no unreal misunderstandings or unnecessary drama. I love these kind of slice of life romcom dramas with adult characters! Now I'm in the mood to watch some more like this while waiting for new episodes (I also watched all the bts and interview videos of the drama on yt, I've fallen for the cast❤️) so I need to look for sth good.

they're filming rn
if you mean corona then it doesn't spread so much in korea now, if there're any new cases it's only a few a day and most are imported, not domestic

I would give this drama 1.00, but Dohwan's and Gayoung's (and a few more actors') acting was good so I gave this 2.0, just for their acting. But still, the worst drama I've ever watched. A total mess. All this drama, misunderstandings, crying, beating, psycho actions, dramatic piano ost, twisted plot and million break-ups just to end it all with cliche, happy ending. Not to mention horrible, chaotic editing, poor ost and some actors were so stiff I felt like crying (let's be honest, Taehee's friend's actress was horrible. I don't blame her though, I blame people around her that didn't tell her to do sth different in life and people who cast her).
I'm aware it was loosely based on novel from XVIII century and even more on american drama film from 1999, but damn, we are in 2018, writers think so little of us, viewers, in the era of high quality dramas we expect something more than cliche, basic drama with milion break-ups. They could do sth like that in 2003-2006 and it would be hit, but not now, please.
Highly unrecommended.
