ep 10... not going to lie, i felt a bit maidenly. i was covering my mouth the whole time for the first 10 minutes and going "goodness gracious" at every one of minase's lines. normally, i use jpn subtitles to help me learn, but i was so locked in that i turned them off entirely. though they were just conversing normally, it felt so intimate, and their relationship so tender, that it felt like i was intruding. there's so much that happened, but i really, really enjoyed that hirukawa pursued film and made a movie out of minase's letter. my goodnesss.

i'm familiar with minase's actor since i'm a tokufan that watched gotchard, and he's improvedso much! he has really eye-catching expressions (and eyes,) and i feel like he portrayed the subtleties and sensitivities of minase's personality really well. great job and happy 20th birthday to him btw. for hirukawa's actor, let's just say he made my stomach twist and turn every episode and leave it at that (this is very positive. kenshin was crazy good.)

i binge-read the manhwa while waiting for the last episode and wow, the directors... really took the sea/ship bits and ran with it LMAO! i'm not complaining... they made a lot of changes in terms of adjusting the plot/theme, but i have to say that the drama version definitely resonated with me more. i commented before that it had the screenwriter/director for hidamari ga kikoeru, and kimi to nara koi! both of which had cinematography and writing that really appealed to me. they honed in on all the bits i liked from those two dramas visually and increased it by tenfold. combined with the on-going theme of being swept away in the seas, miseinen did great on conveying the loneliness, melancholy, nostalgia and yearning from both characters. it was a great watch from start to finish, and i was left with a warm feeling from the bottom of heart. thank you for the 3 months, miseinen!

and this concludes my usual long-winded thoughts after i finish something that touched me. sorry if you've seen me before. i fell into the trap of watching bls weekly for the 3rd time in a row. you might see me again next week.

beautiful cinematography and colour-grading. i'm a little floored. the camera-directing is great... the purposeful framing in the episode of them heading different paths to go home, the dutch angle used in episode 4? 5? on hirukawa in his room and there's a lot of creative usage of camera positioning. the pacing & writing of the series and the camera direction work in perfect harmony. there's close, intimate shots that make you feel like you're seeing hirukawa from minase's perspective and vice-versa. it's purposeful and intentional and makes it easy for the viewer to get immersed into the atmosphere. mentioning the colour-grading again but there is seriously some beautiful night-time scenes and beautiful blues/cool colours used that give a strong sense of nostalgia and melancholy, which makes sense since it's largely from minase's perspective! geeking out over the artistic direction but yeah the BL made me feel something too i guess

Also, controversial opinion, but I don't hate Maya at all . Reason being, she was relatable. If you watch this…
wow... you perfectly articulated and understood maya's character!!

i think that everyone is entitled to their own opinion/interpretation, since that's just how media is consumed and it's impossible for everyone to share the same view on it. i agree with you completely that if viewers focus on the romantic aspect, then she can be seen as a barrier barring them, but as you said, they do have their own issues that needed to be worked out as well. uhmmm i'm losing track of what i wanted to say with this reply actually... i really like her a lot for all the reasons you listed and that she just feels real with it. also that i personally like 'flawed' characters who are unable to be honest... i just 100% agree with everything you said and wanted to say ty for your post ^__^!!

hidamari final thoughts. it is very long.
i really love the glimpse of taichi and maya's dynamic as bickering siblings, as well as the coworkers at sig-n... and taichi's former boss coming to visit was cute! the ending was relatively 'safe' and didn't really wow me, but i still liked it a lot. it wasn't an extremely emotional ending but a satisfactory one that leaves me, still, feeling pretty positive about the series. like, the last half of the episode got me to turn off subtitles (i can understand jpn to a degree, just choose to read) and lock-in. i can feel that they did rush it a lot though, because of time constraints... T__T

i like thinking of the ending as the slow build-up over time of missing each other, wanting to reach out to each other but being hesitant to take the first step — and when they finally meet, it's an explosion of all the feelings they've been bottling up. seriously, motoki is such a good actor and seeing his facial expressions throughout the episode had me really feeling and seeing all of kouhei's emotions flash across his face. i wish we could've had another episode just to really build on taichi's slow thought process and realization for it to be lasting... but it also feels extremely taichi-like for everything to hit him like a truck at once. kobayashi was great all around, from taichi being a cute junior at work, to him lying on the ground and finally realizing his feelings. they were really great picks for the two leads... i'm happy i got to experience their acting. also the credits scene was so cute...

i don't usually post my thoughts in the comments unless i really like the show, because of my mortifying ordeal of being perceived. hidamari has made me want to comment for the last few weeks and i enjoy peeking at other people's thoughts occasionally too. at the very least, i hope everyone gained some sort of solace from the series. hidamari i'll miss you.

maya i love you forever. i love when characters are flawed and troubled and are circumstances of their surroundings and she was just scared of being pitied and seen as unequal which is why she turned out like that. she never had someone to tell her it was okay and that she was doing enough like taichi did. i really love her... don't come replying to me about how you hate her btw i won't agree with your opinion but i'll respect it.

Anyways. this week's hidamari was good too........... 🥺 i really love the concept of romance shown in hidamari, where it's more about the characters themselves and how they managed to fit together. love is here and found but it's not the focus... i just like love when it's quiet and mundane and loving each other is Simply basking in each other's presence and appreciating the other person. but this is just me.
characters actually having personality and feeling Real is pretty important to me and without that, i'm not really able to get invested in romance if i don't get why they're supposed to like each other. or what they like about each other. every time kouhei talks about taichi i shrivel up. every time taichi's kindness affects others but he's also affected by kouhei and influenced by him, i also shrivel up. sometimes i'm really met with the feeling of, man these guys like each other so much what am i supposed to do. hidamari i'll miss you after next week.

dropped at ep 8 :( maybe i'll give it a chance again in the future but i think... my expectations were set too high for this series. i didn't grow attached to any of the main cast by episode 8 which was a huge deciding factor to whether i'd enjoy watching the rest of this or not. i enjoyed lee je hoon's acting immensely, both in signal and move to heaven and he was good here. but do ki himself as a character is just Alright.....

goeun, kyungsoo and jineon were plenty charming but not enough for me to stick around for longer. i didn't have much of an opinion on the relations and ambitions of sungchul, as well as sungmi... i wish hana could have contrasted the main team better and appeared directly at odds as them because i just felt bad seeing her constantly lag behind. though i guess this could represent how the law is slow to act and makes mistakes which is one of the more prominent messages of the series. but still man i just felt bad for her.

i think i probably would've enjoyed more banter or something that showed the dynamic more between the rainbow taxi crew to make me more invested in them, as well as their shared struggles in chasing down the villain. but they were truly coworkers to the end and that didn't align with what i was expecting i guess. that's on me. sorry taxi driver i tried to love you i really did.

Yeah at first he was going to chicken out when he told Kohei about the burger story and Kohei didn't hear him.…
in the manga, he chickened out with the burger story and honestly it was one of the things that really bothered me about the source, especially with when he told kouhei he can ask him to repeat as many times as he'd like. i was pleasantly surprised by the dialogue change and it made for a really cute scene!

he's definitely not straightforward and definitely a little shy and oblivious about his own feelings, but i want to attribute it to that...this guy probably has not had a Legit crush or something LOL he's a little confused but he's got the spirit

I've seen more than a few comments on tumblr about why can't Taichi just /talk/ to Kohei because he was so good…
this is a really great take...! i feel like people also tend to forget that we have the omniscient view. for those two especially, they're carefully trying to tip-toe around hurting each other's feelings and not causing trouble for the other person. taichi is 100% as you said he is, the type to eloquently speak his mind for what his ideals and what is right or wrong. i think it's easier to understand his emotions when he feels a lot of it at once (anger, happiness as easy examples) but for the more complex ones it's harder for him to put a name to it. especially when he's going through some Really big decisions/changes for a uni student.

i think the scene that's most significant to me about taichi communicating his feelings is probably the hamburger scene, where he told kouhei about his family. i really like how he tends to become contemplative and quiet when he's deep in thought about something that, emotionally, matters to him a lot.

sorry most of this comment was a little unrelated to your post, it just reminded me of a lot of things! i'm definitely looking forward to next episode... personally i really like maya and i'm looking forward to the scene they previewed... can't believe this is ending in 2 weeks...!

(breaking my silence) i like mayachan so much. kouhei and taichi were cute today too... i love the developments they've been making and the deviations from the source material... the plot has been progressing so smoothly and seamlessly, which was something i had an issue with in the manga. hidamari works so well at building and exploring character depth, so it's really easy to get invested in the cast. i'm so fond of all the characters which is something that doesn't usually happen. it's been great to watch every week... my only lament is that i am watching this weekly and not when it's all finished.

hidamari was good this week and last week and the week before and the week before that and it'll be good next week too....

liked this a lot more than i thought i would. i came in with low expectations since i was a bit iffy on the premise, but someone recommended it to me a while ago so i decided to give it a try. the humour was up my alley and i ended up really liking the direction of the game concept in the last two episodes. i had trouble keeping up with the pacing/time-skips, where the relationships between characters would develop rapidly without knowing, but it wasn't a huge deal to be honest... it gives room for thought that the viewers nor myungha are omniscient and are in control.

the cinematography and colour-grading in the last episode was beautiful. i was genuinely floored with the scenes leading up to and of myungha's seaside suicide. why'd they whip that out of nowhere and where was it hiding for the last few episodes. the aspect ratios changing also had me stunned... it was such a creative usage of the viewing experience. the final message was delivered quite beautifully as well. i was definitely left with a lot more questions than answers, but i can conclude that i'm happy for myungha and his cringe ass boyfriend.

for the record, sometimes i like when things go unanswered, because that allows me to be delusional about the circumstances and write in what i think happened. it makes a story free real estate. thanks for listening to my opinion 👍
