I have mixed opinions on the webtoon tbh. It was my first webtoon/manhwa and I really liked it. BUT it just seems like now, a lot of people are dropping it. Why? Because basically there’s two guys right. Suho and Seojun. In the webtoon Suho is her first love and then Seojun and her date later. It just feels like it’s so...idk it’s not going anywhere anymore. It’s like there’s no direction. A lot of people are team Suho but personally I’m team seojun. Honestly no matter what team you are tho it’ll be hard because BOTH of the guys are the second lead at some point. Personally I’ve honestly gotten too mad to get past like episode 104 XD. I’ll probably pick it up again before I watch true beauty though. (I’m waiting until January to start it because I don’t want to have to wait each week for new episodes). Another problem people have with the webtoon is that it’s all about the romance. The title True Beauty and the whole premise of her being ugly and then putting on makeup makes it sound like it’s going to be this like great and empowering self-love journey for young girls or something, but everything is romance so far. And very complicated romance at that.

I also personally don’t think you’d be spoiling it for yourself by reading true beauty though because I think it’ll be very different. It seems with this adaptation, Suho is 100% the main lead, but in the webtoon, she dates both at a time (sorta). I don’t think Seojun and her will date in this drama honestly. It’s 16 episodes. That’s not enough time for her to fully play out all the stuff with Suho as her first love in the beginning. And since SooJin is listed as a main lead in this adaptation, I think they’ll only focus on when they’re high schoolers (from like the first third of the webtoon). Because in the webtoon, soojin is a VERY MINOR CHARACTER. So, I don’t think they’ll give Seojun fair chance at all. I think it’ll just be like any other drama where he likes her but she doesn’t like him back, and they’ll overdramatize the drama that happened with everyone in highschool.

Anyways, I think it’s kind of stressful and rage inducing (you get REALLY attached to either team Suho or Seojun, seriously I could go on hour long rants about why I like Seojun more haha), but it is entertaining. If you’re the type of person to get very frustrated at love triangles though, then don’t watch it. But if you’re curious about it, I’d encourage you to try some episodes out !! :))

Exactly!! Like I feel like so many people don’t care or think I’m overreacting but like, my whole system of rating and stuff is affected now ;-; I have a similar system to yours. I wouldn’t watch a drama below 8, and most of the time would avoid low 8’s unless I was really interested in what it was about. Now what? Do I just change the low 8 standard to 7.9-8? Are the dramas I considered to be like 9’s or high 8’s actually worth low 8’s and I’ve been giving too high ratings too easily? Like do I need to re-evaluate the way I rate things? This changes everything and it’s going to be so hard to decide which dramas to watch, not watch, how even I should rate dramas, etc. And maybe there were fake accounts rating for popular airing dramas and stuff, but some extremely underrated, like 1,100 watchers or less dramas that used to be like 8.6 are now like 8.1 and I’m like- how. Literally barely anyone knows about them so how could there be THAT MANY fake accounts to affect the super underrated dramas’ ratings??

I think in general it’s harder now. Because before, I would only watch dramas if they were rated 8 or above, etc. But now, dramas around 8.0-8.4 are like below 8 and I don’t know if they actually sucked and people just rated them highly before or if it’s actually good. Now it’s like, my standard of deciding whether to watch something or not is thrown off.

This rating system is so annoying. It’s making it so inaccurate. Now some really good dramas are rated wayyy lower than it should be. How am I supposed to know if a drama is good enough to watch now or not?!

How the heck is this an 8.2?! It was like 8.7 the other day. This update is so annoying I can’t. How am I supposed to gauge if dramas are worth it or not when everything is messed up now?!

True, I think a lot of people prefer to watch whatever’s on Netflix tho for convenience instead of seeing what else is out there though.
