At first for me yeah, mostly because of the student-teacher relationship, the fl was mature from the start while the ml not so much, but after a few eps the feeling just disappeared, I even forgot that there’s an age gap between them.

Yes. You should definitely continue watching it, don’t let the negative comments discourage you! Honestly, it isn’t half as bad as people say it is, the last eps just more focused on revenge and action rather than romance, and apparently a lot of them wanted it to be fluffier I guess. If you’re not sure about this one, another Republican era drama I would recommend is Fall In Love, you could consider writing about this one, it has a higher rating and the audience liked it better. Personally, I loved both.😊

Let people like this drama and don’t force your opinion on others.🙄 She wanted to approach Dingkun first, but didn’t succeed because he wasn’t interested in her, so her only option was to get close to Jiashang. You’re ignoring everything she has done for the family members like that meant nothing. I won’t try to logically argue with you anymore because we have different opinions, I won’t change yours and you sure as hell won’t change mine. Talking to you is like talking to a wall, you also haven’t answered none of my questions so this is pointless. I’m an extremely empathetic person so I will understand and stand with the fl everyday, sue me.

Sorry but you are very narrow minded. Why is something has to be just this or just that? This is a romance-revenge story, and it was clearly more focused on the revenge side from the start, I wouldn’t complain that they brought in the romance, as it would’ve been a huge miss for us to not see their amazing chemistry. It wasn’t half baked at all, at this point I’m questioning if we’ve watched the same drama.😅 You make it seem like the fl did something really huge, can you elaborate on what did she exactly do to make you feel 0 sympathy for her? I don’t see how a gender swap would’ve made any difference, it’s literally the same situation. Same story, with swapping roles. A man can also take revenge on a woman.. like? I’m sure if Jiashang was in her place, he would have done pretty much the same things. I think you didn’t get a good hold on Shizhen’s character, she never intended to hurt anyone except Dingkun, and saved the family members several times. Imagine going through the same things like her, try to put yourself in her shoes. Can you really blame her for wanting her revenge after what she’s found out? While others would like to forget and move on, others want revenge, she chose the latter, and I can’t really blame her for that. I mean I would’ve gone crazy. She wanted a little justice and price compared to what Dingkun has done to her. And I fully understand why she wanted to distance herself from Jiashang, he’s the son of the murderer who wiped out her family for god’s sake. Could you live with that thought? I mean this is huge, don’t really know what you expected. Her to run into Jiashang’s arms and drive into the sunset? This wasn’t going to be a fairytale from the start, the story started with her wanting nothing but revenge and ended with them being together after everything that’s happened, this is one strong bond and love for me.

I’m glad! People like to exaggerate things and nitpick on everything tbh.. that’s why I never trust bad comments. Everyone should watch a drama themselves to see if they like it or not. Unfortunately these negative comments can put you off so quickly but most of the time it’s undeserved. It’s definitely worth a watch!😊

I truly don’t get why everyone is whining.. I mean the main focus was on revenge from the start, I don’t know what some of y’all expected tbh, but it absolutely lived up to my expectations, love this type of dramas. I was expecting to be darker near the end, so I wasn’t surprised at all. And the fl was just fine for me, her main goal was revenge after all and she fell in love with the enemy’s son in the process, she couldn’t let go of her revenge, and after everything that happened, I absolutely understand her. A great story with twists I didn’t see coming. Definitely doesn’t deserve to be downgraded just because some of you expected it to be fluffier. This one was much better than some dramas out there with big ratings! Anyways, I was addicted to it and I’m sad that it ended, gonna miss Jiashang, Shizhen and the whole cast. I will definitely rewatch it🥰

Ofc there are better and more experienced actors than him, but the crazy amount of hate he gets is unfathomable to me. He’s acting isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. I’m pretty sure that half of those who are nonstop “criticizing” him are just jealous of his success. There are always room for improvement for everyone, even for the greatest actors, he’s also improving but people are too spiteful to acknowledge that. I think he nailed Suho’s character in True Beauty, he portrayed him exactly like he’s in the webtoon. What everyone tends to forget and I find very funny is that the cold characters which he gets the most hate for were characters that required him to be cold and distant, had to keep his facial expressions reserved. I’m sure that the directors would have told him to change his facial expressions or act differently if it wasn’t good/was out of character. Compared to these characters, he’s very cheerful and energetic irl so I think it was rather difficult for him to keep the poker face on most of the time. I’m glad that he wants to break out of the judgment that he can only play this type of characters and show different sides of him as an actor.

Same here, I enjoy watching him and very excited for Island. Can’t wait to see him in other projects as well.
