Pretty sure the envelope they received was adoption papers. There was at least some time jump since everyone was very well acquainted and we didn't get to see any of that process..

That's a fair assessment. I guess not every story has to be sunshine and rainbows, it just makes it a little more difficult to enjoy any potentially 'romantic' aspects to their relationship.

I don't know, maybe it's a translation issue. "Beg me and I'll help you" is kinda fkd up, something you would say to an enemy, not someone you genuinely liked. Maybe it was meant to be more like "Just ask and I'll help you" which would have been more benevolent. /shrug
