I hope the main leads don't end up together! Love is way better when you feel comfortable with someone, not tensioned…
I share the same view as you that I love the show, but I sincerely hope the two main leads don't end up together and then repeat the same pattern of emotional rollercoaster (from Choi Ung's point of view) forever. It is also best for Gook Yeon Soo. See how relaxed she is with Kim Ji Woong when they had a walk? Choi Ung revealed that she had never liked lying under the sun, but she did it easily with Choi Ung. That prompts the compatibility of them. As for NJ, as I see it,she is as kind-hearted as Choi Ung — She tried her best to forgive hate-reviewers though she regretted doing so when she realized they don't worth giving empathy.

Personally, I believe that Choi Ung ends up being with NJ and Gook Yeon Soo with Kim Ji Woong. The romance chemistry between the two main leads is certainly shiny, but heartbeat and crushing feeling can be misleading (sometimes for some ppl) in finding true love. Otherwise, if the two main leads end up being together, this would be a horror Kdrama for me.

Title Our Beloved Summer Spoiler
Our Beloved Summer shows the beauty of a harmful relationship, and the romantic curse of falling in love to a wrong person. You can see the emotional neglect and narcissistic abuse that Gook Yeon Soo has done to Choi Ung. While Gook Yeon Soo struggles to recognize if and how much her emotional manipulation are hurting the closest people she is with (she have never and would never understand without something significant happen), Choi Ung is having a hard time to maintain boundaries from those who doesn't appreciate his love — he is the one that always withstand all the fault and pain in the relationship, yet has too much empathy to forgive.

This can also be reflected from the relationship between Choi Ung and his mother. Whenever there are guests, Choi Ung's mother welcomely asks what guests want, but she never asks what her own son wants. Same for Gook Yeon Soo. Have she ever asked? She also constantly ignore his feeling, "her way or no way" — she does not yet learn to care! For a sensitive person like him, falling in love with people who does not emotionally take care of him, is a form of retraumatization... He believes that love is abuse and abuse is love, a lesson learnt possibly from his childhood.

All in one show, heartbreakingly amusing. My favorite K drama for the year!
