Does anyone know the historical facts on this drama?
Ki was bad like mahgikkow23 said :(
Baek Ahn actually becomes worse than El Temur and is pushed from his seat of power by Tal Tal and the Emperor. Then Ki turns on Tal Tal and sends him into exile where he's poisoned.
Ki attacked her own country and spent her entire life trying to make her son Emperor. Ta Hwan let his people succumb to famine and disease because of his poor decision making which resulted in rebellion by the salt dealers. He eventually fled the country when they were taken over by the Ming and died. After this, Ki's son finally ascends the throne and she becomes Empress Dowager. But soon after she goes missing and her son flees the country. No one knows what happened to her.
So a lot of people also think that the story may go downhill from now. El T (yes that's what I call him in my…
I did drop JOJ >_< I didn't like seeing her character and the King's change. I understood why but it's difficult to watch a character you've grown to love dig their own grave. Maybe I'll finish it one day:)
No, in no way do I hate EK. I'm just a little disappointed I guess? In some ways we're getting what we wanted but it feels like it's going to lead in the wrong direction...
Joo Jin Mo said in an interview that this is not a documentary but 'inspired' by the story of Empress Ki. I'm going to hold onto that haha. >_<

@Bera That's totally true. But for 37 Eps they've made SN a kind of admirable character. I don't like that it seems they hid this part of SN from the viewers to bring out more conflict in the last 13 Eps. Once she became a Concubine we kind of lost the inner workings of SN's mind. (Which in my eyes made her a bit more unlikeable.) So maybe that is their plan.
But in History, SN wasn't trying to keep the people of Goryeo from being abused. She attacked her own country and tried to slaughter her own people. >_< It just seemed like Empress Ki was trying to go down a different path... (Her voice-over did say she would place the people of Goryeo in Yuan positions, which is different from history). We'll just have to wait and see. :)
(Although I'd rather know now b/c I'm scared to watch the next 13 Eps...)

El T haha. I really loved the beginning of Jang Ok Jung because it was different from history. But then it started following history so I dropped it...
The real Empress Ki was brutal and power hungry. They make it seem as if SN had this hidden intent to rule the Yuan Dynasty and keep Ta Hwan a puppet the entire time which doesn't sit well with me. Esp. when she promised Baek Ahn, the Eunuch, and Tal Tal that she just wanted to avenge Lady Park.
It's like they're showing how all the characters succumb to power. I don't like where I think this is heading. And in history, the Yuan Dynasty crumbles after this. >_<
Is this going to go downhill from here? Since Yeon Chul denounced Ki before he died? (Real Hist. spoilers) - Baek…
In the first PR it said there was going to be a showdown between the Empress Dowager and SN because of power.
Yes, she becomes the Empress, through all of her pain, but for what? Everyone who supported her turns against her. Ah, I already see her character changing more and I'm scared for the next 13 Eps. (Even though this isn't based on facts.)
Or will the last Ep actually be when she becomes Empress...? Or they'll show how she goes missing and runs into Wang Yoo's arms... >_> Just kidding :)
*(And totally not related... But is Joo Jin Mo's character in A Frozen Flower based on the same Character as Empress Ki? Since he was married to a Yuan Princess...?)
Is this going to go downhill from here? Since Yeon Chul denounced Ki before he died?
(Real Hist. spoilers) - Baek Ahn is overcome with his hunger for power, becomes a replica of Yeon Chul, stops Ki from becoming Empress, and is overthrown by Tal Tal and the Emperor because of his power hungry reign.
Ki and the Emperor turn on Tal Tal and send him into exile where he's poisoned. :(
Ki tries to get her son the throne, it backfires, leaving Ta Hwan to become distant from her.
GAWD! it takes a century for MBC to dub each episode and speed of the events became crazy. we have more 13 episode…
It seems that way when you're enjoying a drama so much doesn't it? At least it's not the next week. koreandramaonair.blogspot.com always has the Eps subbed sometime the next day. And she's only one person who does it in her free time >_<
Omo, such a great Ep! Is it selfish to wish this were two separate dramas so I could see Chief AND Oh Chang Min get Jin Hee...? >_<
I love how Chief wore the coat Jin Hee gave him the rest of the day. :D And Oh Chang Min taking care of Jin Hee = Best Scenes Ever. I hope the father isn't sick though. :(

Yeah, I'm still not sure why I started it. I think because it was on the front page of Dramafever staring me in the face whenever I logged in haha.

Haha, it didn't seem that interesting to me. The storyline seemed a bit boring and I wasn't excited about the cast. But now that I've started it, I'm so impatient for the next Ep! I didn't expect to see such great chemistry between the leads. And it's super funny. :)

'Bride of the Century.' I didn't really want to see it but for some reason I forced myself to watch the first Ep and fell in love! So so good! :)
