Hilarious bromance with similar lead archetypes - Meet Honma Kai and Ichinose Jiro, police academy cadets. The intellectual Honma favours a theoretical approach to policing. He is a serious A-student with an analytical mind and excellent memory, which allowed him to develop his profiling skills while at the academy. Appearing aloof, he won't give up on those in need. Conversely, fellow cadet Ichinose's style makes use of his brawn and emotional savvy to get the job done. A fearless fighter with boundless strength, even those with martial arts experience have been known to give him a wide berth! At times, his somewhat goofy demeanor tends to confuse those around him. But he is honest, kind-hearted and always the first to help anyone in trouble. These oddball rookies compensate for their lack of practical experience by applying lessons learnt from the academy combined with a healthy dose of youthful exuberance. They make good friends and partners who balance out each other's shortcomings beautifully.

A cold serial murder case is reopened. Old friends meet again, everything is unsure and bittersweet. The story is dark, cold and unforgiving.

Both dramas give off the same dark social world vibe. They are both set in the world of high-end host bar. In both dramas we will see the characters navigating relationships and emotions under the weight of transactional business deals. What's real and what's just part of the job?

Both shows have very scary ghosts, not just the type that asks for help, but the type that can be sent after people to drive them insane or to kill themselves; they also have living magic users who are able to use ghosts for their own purposes, and include tattoos that symbolize or grant supernatural protection to the one tattooed. Both also have a detective main character who is serious and very dedicated to their job, and have lost a sibling. And, of course, both are LGBTQUIA+.

Ollie(Zhen Xin/Fang Chi) from Deep In and Chen Liang(Lin Zai) are both in the same cpop group Loong9 that was formed after the reality show Asia Super Young. We'll probably see more of their group members as leads in BLs now.
