Khun Chai Pawornruj is the second part of the Suparburoot Jutathep series. It picks right where the first story left off. There were no flashbacks or explanations used; the viewer is immediately thrown into the second brother’s story and struggles. Unlike his four brothers who come from noble descendant, Chai Ruj’s mother was a servant for the first wife until his father raised her rank. So this inferiority complex followed him his entire life with the nickname “Khun Chai in the kitchen”. Although his brothers respect him and love him like an elder and a younger brother, some people outside aren’t of the same view.
Chai Ruj’s love story was in Switzerland with his childhood play-mate that he didn’t recognize. This was practically a travelling love story until the truth unfolds about the identity of his royal girl. The love story was a problem of ranks and some lies when Chai Ruj struggled so much to find love after his first heartbreak. Although he’s a diplomat for the Ministry of Foreign affairs, he was a proud man of his servant bloodline just like his noble side. Chai Ruj is a humble down-to-earth man, the kindest and the most caring between his brothers which made his character show a lot of interesting sides.
There are two reasons why this part managed to raise a little in rating; the first must be the diversity of side characters mainly the fellow travellers in Switzerland and their side love-stories that added a good balance. The second reason was once again, the bromance. The brothers stickled together for Chai Ruj especially Chai Yai (the elder brother) and Chai Pat who’s the closest to him, they showed a lot of caring and support for their second brother.
On the other hand, what this part lacked was the continuation of events; the annoying rejections, developments and some characters. For instance, Granny Oon overdid it with her meddlesome attitude. While the two Taewaporn girls were building that hateful tension which will come in Chai Pat and Chai Pee’s stories. I can obviously tell that Marathee is going to be that evil second female lead type in the upcoming story; I need to brace myself.
The acting was medium; Pope did well while his leading lady sucked so badly, she’s a pretty actress but her smiles, laughs and some attitudes appeared so awkwardly on screen. I know that’s she a newbie so I shouldn’t get too harsh on her but she was bad. The chemistry was good though.
Watch if:
-You liked the first part because this is absolutely better.
-You like travelling romances.
Do not watch if:
-You dislike the push and pulls in romantic stories.
-You’re looking for something impressive.
Khun Chai Pawornruj’s love story was certainly better than Chai Yai’s with little flaws here and there. It was enjoyable overall and I am too darn excited to see the doctor Chai Pat’s share of the series.

delightful travel romance with melodrama
●FIRST IMPRESSIONI waited for quite a few days before writing this review. I was absorbing the simple yet melodramatic lakron.
●STORY
So going back to the plot the grandmother's insistence on keeping the marriage promise made by her father has taken one step ahead but this time it is more like forcing Khun Chai Pawonruj into doing it. Grandmother Oon goes beyond and finds a country girl which simply shows how much she dislikes him. Khun Ruj agrees so that his other brother gets freed from the promise, but fate takes him to Switzerland to meet his soulmate, who is also his childhood friend. After returning to Thailand the family drama takes over with their arranged partners. But the heavens bring them closer.
●PLOT VIEW
No wonder this series has more episodes(13) compared to others. it was better than the first series Khun Chai Taratorn. This series had four romances counting in the leads too, Khun Chai Ruj and Than Ying Wanrasa, Nu Ai and Khun Pakorn, Nu Auey and Khun Aun, lastly Kratin and Klao.
This series takes place in Switzerland, and I was immediately reminiscing about Bollywood movies where the leads fall in love in Switzerland. Though the backdrop was cliche it still had its mesmerizing charm. The leads both meet their loved ones and learn some ugly truth which changes the course of the trip.
The group traveling with the friends is a lifetime experience, giving you a world to discover new places and sometimes people. Whom you thought you knew but are different. This clears off old misunderstandings and truths revealed making this tour worth it. I was so excited to see how the family reacted when the whole game of lies and truth was disclosed. But the family was on another level to give anxiety and headache to audiences.
This series also touched me to the fact that they both went on to sacrifice title for their love. They each take few steps to finally understand the true meaning of love.
Kratin and Klao's story was simple but they made it enjoyable with the country magic tone in their body language.
The family of Taewaprom seems like a gold digger in a facade of marital promise. There are lots of friends teasing and troubling in the tour. Brotherly bond is so fun to watch they keep on teasing and supporting each other. They are growing on me.
●ACTING/CAST
Khun Chai Pawonruj (Pope Thanavat) performed it as if he was living the character. He is strong has excellent communication skills but is oppressed by society and lost communication with his loved ones, irony right. His dressing in suit showing the diplomat's aura, eyes had that respect tone for everyone. I got emotionally attached to him.
Than Ying Wanrasa (Mew Nittha) was ordinary, she didn’t have the depth of the character. Considering this is her first drama she had a lot to learn. She had a bland facial expression and being angry that Khun Ruj doesn't recognize her. Come on girl, Kids grow up and it is natural if one doesn't recognize them after growing up.
Kratin was awesome playing the country girl who is homesick due to personal reasons and had a hard time adjusting to the city. Her voice pitch and actions were excellent.
Grandmother Oon went beyond evil and I hated her like I wanted to get on the screen and throw her out of the script.
All the supporting characters were pleasant making the drama light comedy and sometimes melomance.
●MUSIC
The OST was the same but it had a soothing healing texture to its music. This one seems more original and keeps the prototype of the drama.
●REWATCH
I would definitely watch this drama again in the future because of how the simple story is weaved into a clever melodrama.
●APPRECIATION
The travel romance was shot beautifully and I loved how they showed the beauty of Switzerland.
●CRITICISM
Considering they made FL a violin player, it was totally fake. At least if she acted playing she should have done a good job. or at least camera angles should have been adjusted to make it look real. I had a hard time digesting this scene.
●FAV SCENE
Kratin first introduction to Taewaprom Family.
●RECOMMENDATION
If you like societal differences family drama or lots of friends together, then you could watch this drama.
●AFTERTHOUGHT
After completion of the drama, I had this one thought that how one wrong thing said could affect so many lives. And without knowing the truth people tend to make assumptions as they were unfaithful or gold diggers.
Since the marital promise has not been fulfilled, I guess the Taewaprom girls will bring more problems in the remaining series. Am going on for Khun Chai Puttipat.

Not Perfect but Enjoyable
Honestly i like a lakorn with ordinary characters & casual looks in it rather than kinda royal/noble/prince-princess/hi-so lakorn with luxurious looks. So i watched it just to see Mew's performance. Surprisingly it becomes 1 of my fav lakorns.Like:
- Actually the "rank of nobility" is a typical problem in royal/hi-so lakorn, but they wrap it into a great whole story.
- Chemistry. Pope-Mew can build a perfect chemistry thru intense, intimate dialogues & deep staring eyes toward each other, with less skinship.
- Delightful friendship. I enjoy the Switz trip so much. Lots of funny things & adventures. Khun Im is annoying, but she & Nu Ai made my day!
- 5 brothers of Jutathep. They're sooo lovable. Everyone wishes to have such supportive siblings.
- Ruj & Waddao's story is tragic, pitiful. Loving each other but end up separated bcoz of misunderstanding. It teaches me that a relationship isn't just about the feeling between 2 persons. In the end, it's about destiny.
- Pope is a great actor. His eyes tell everything in his heart.
- Soundtrack. Khun Chai Pawornruj has the best version of OST among the Jutathep series.
Dislike:
- I must admit that Mew's acting here isn't satisfying. Sometimes her stares look plain, not deep like a woman loving her man, sometimes she looks awkward. Yes i understand it's her 1st experience.
- The demonstration scene is just too dramatic, somehow illogical, but the way Pope&Mew hugging each other is too lovable to skip LOL.
- The mindset of Rasa's dad is unacceptable. How could he think that a man dating many women is normal?
- Some people may hate the tight-lipped & childish Rasa (when she's jealous/angry but all she can say is just "nothing"), but she represents me, just like other women i think, LOL.

Averceli fratelli così
Per una volta ho messo un titolo inerente alla serie e non alle opinioni personali che verrò a scrivere, però questa serie più delle altre ti fa veramente dire “averceli fratelli così”. L’amore che provano i fratelli Jutathep l’uno per l’altro e la voglia di difendersi l’uno con l’altro sono veramente encomiabili, soprattutto se si pensa alle sorelle Dhevaprom (di cui torneremo a parlare) dove solo Kate si salva (a cui aggiungiamo il personaggio di Kratin, ma per delle ragioni differenti da quelle che per cui si salva Kate, mainly because non è stata cresciuta dal padre). E nulla, mi piaceva cominciare con questa prefazione per dire che qua, ancora più che nella storia di Yai si vede l’amore fraterno, perché se nella storia di Yai si vede l’amore di un fratello maggiore per i suoi fratelli minori qui si vede l’amore che hanno dei fratelli per quello che un po’ si sente l’outcast della famiglia e che, anche se i fratelli non lo fanno sentire come tale, il mondo esterno e alcune persone nella sua famiglia lo vedono come tale e non va bene come cosa, ma ci torneremo.Ora come sempre qualche regola per le mie recensioni, le cose che mi piacciono, quelle che mi sono piaciute un po’ meno e qualche TW giusto per completezza.
Partiamo dalle cose che mi sono piaciute:
1. Kate, ovviamente. Che ve lo sto a dire a fare? Kate è l’unica Dhevaprom che ci fa e che è una brava persona e torneremo sul discorso, perché ritratterò una delle cose che ho scritto nelle recensioni delle serie dei figli… quindi Kate, lo ho detto nella storia dove è protagonista, lo dico qua e lo ho anche detto nella serie del figlio di Yai, è l’unica normale, nel senso che è l’unica che non sembra uscita dal libro “come fare un cattivo in dieci passaggi”.
2. Una cosa che mi è piaciuta è come hanno rappresentato il periodo storico e hanno mostrato un personaggio femminile che è nel suo tempo. Per intenderci Maprang che va nei boschi, si veste da uomo e dorme abbracciata ad un uomo nel mezzo di una foresta pare più un personaggio moderno che un personaggio del 1957, invece qui Rosa è una donna, nobile del suo periodo e questo mi piace (e comunque anche Rosa e Rujy dormono da soli in un bosco, ma secondo i costumi dell’epoca). Il matrimonio combinato con il tizio non la disgusta, anzi pensa pure di provare qualcosa per lui e fino a che lui non fa le peggio cose lei non pensa di chiudere il fidanzamento, ma lo decide solo quando vede effettivamente quello che fa lui. Ora non dico che sia giusto, eh, sia chiaro, ma è rinfrescante in un mondo pieno di Maprang (personaggio che ho amato alla follia) vedere anche qualche Rosa. Ora parliamo un secondo del padre di Rosa che anche lui è un uomo dell’epoca, perché per quanto noi possiamo tessere le lodi dei fratelli come uomini moderni, la realtà dei fatti era che la maggior parte degli uomini era come il padre di Rosa, che giustifica i comportamenti del tizio solo perché “uomo” e che non rompe il fidanzamento fino a quando è la promessa che viene fatta LUI che viene a mancare. Riperto, giusto? No, però un uomo della sua epoca.
3. Piccola parentesi, kudos alla tipa che ha fatto tutte le scene in Svizzera con i tacchi alti. Io non so sarei riuscita a fare così tanto con le scarpe alte (considerando anche che le sue amiche le avevano le scarpe basse).
4. Una cosa che mi è piaciuta è che per un age gap romance (due con Yai e Maprang) hanno scelto attrici che si vedeva essere giovani. Ora capisco che molte volte si preferisca fare scelte dove l’età degli attori sia più simile, ma io non posso credere che lui sia il professore e lei la studentessa o lui già un funzionario dell’ambasciata e lei una just graduate se sembrano avere la stessa, quindi io la ho apprezzata come cosa, so che ad alcuni può non piacere.
5. Mi è piaciuto che a differenza della storia del figlio gli ex qui si vogliano bene dopo essersi lasciati. Insomma, anche se si sono lasciati per altre ragioni e avrebbero potuto ricreare un amore, sono contenta di vedere ex nei lakorn che si vogliono bene.
6. Ora sembrerà strano, ma ho odiato in maniera viscerale il personaggio di Maratee, Rumpa e della nonna, quindi kudos alle tre attrici. E posso dire una cosa? Sì, alla fine è la mia recensione, ritratto quello che ho detto nelle recensioni dei figli, vedere le serie originali non migliora i personaggi di Maratee e Rumpa, anzi, le peggiora solo (passi che è vero che comunque Rumpa veniva invogliata da Maratee, ma ci mette tanto anche del suo). Quindi no, vedere le storie originali non migliora la storia di questi tre personaggi, la peggiora soltanto.
Bene siamo arrivate al tanto atteso TW. Allora, in questa serie c’è un personaggio overweight e alcuni di questi continuano a reiterare con battute sceme questo fatto. Passi che questo personaggio non è che subisce in silenzio, eh, risponde, dopo un po’ queste battute stufano e sono pesanti. Ora, capisco che è il 2013 quando la hanno scritta questa serie e è ambientata in un periodo dove gli standard di bellezza erano quelli del grissino e poco più, però stufano. E se posso scusare quello che succede nella prima parte (vedete il TW in quella recensione) perché alla fine succede solo con Korn e una volta sola (mentre passa il resto del tempo a cercare di capire come accettare il fatto che Yai potesse essere gay e se a lui possono piacere anche gli uomini) e gli studenti alla fine trattano la situazione molto come se si scoprissi ORA che il tuo professore che fa parte di una famiglia nobiliare potrebbe essere gay, qua continuano. E devo dire per una persona che ha fatto una dieta perché prima non avevo la linea che ho ora un po’ ha irritato. Come sempre cerco però di inserire il tutto in un contesto che è appunto quello del periodo un cui è stato scritto ed è stato ambientata la storia.
