Spring in a Small Town (1948)

Set in a decaying family compound after the Sino-Japanese War, the film centers on the once-prosperous Dai family. Patriarch Dai Li Yan, now an invalid, nostalgically reflects on the past, while his loveless marriage to Zhou Yu Wen endures out of mutual concern. Li Yan’s young sister, Dai Xiu, remains cheerful despite the ruins around her.
