Watching this was a journey

Overall this was good it was just too long things that happened should have happened long ago start watching from episode 100 it will be worth it . There were moments when I questions about why did they put that into the drama and when her first husband died I question why like make her marry the first man and stay with him and this would have ended sooner.
Don't get me started about the divorce between her mother and the stepdad like come on why even bother and when they are getting divorce living together an him telling her to cook for him like why was that even in the drama.
When she faked her death that was another moment yay wasn't needed like his parents needed him at death's door for him to be able to marry her like why they should have given up since when he said he wanted to marry her when her husband died.

Hmmm...

The drama is definitely unique. The director went all out with his own style. Not necessarily objectively good nor bad just different. I personally enjoyed what it tried to do. The quirky direction is the drama's biggest highlight. There were no eavesdrop where characters happen to stumble upon a secret, instead there are very long extended cut open dialogue scenes with no interruption which makes all the difference to see the characters actually talk. Some episodes may consist of only two scenes for this exact reason. The drama doesn't shy away from throwing experimental scenes that are completely unrelated to the story for fun. Although some scenes are just too bizarre like that one scene where an old lady reminiscing a young guy's body after the funeral. These scenes will probably make most of the characters seem insensitive. Then there's ep79 coming out of nowhere completely unexpected! The characters sometime step outside the boundaries of their character and do something unlike their character. This also resulted in inconsistency and showed the characters in a bad light. At least the drama doesn't attempt to "fix" the character, sometimes it's okay to remain broken. I ended up enjoying the drama for all the wrong reasons and that's cool. I liked Ha Na as the antihero, she did great and it might be her best work so far.

"Apgujeong Midnight Sun" is a drama about the story of Baek Ya, a young woman who goes through many turbulence's in her life, many tragedies, until she finds her happiness.

At first, Ya Ya is a spoiled girl who lives with her brother and sister-in-law, but only knows how to criticize everything. Her life changes completely when her brother dies in a car accident and she has to grow up overnight. Ya Ya discovers that the accident has something to do with her mother who abandoned them when they were children. She decides to find her mother and take revenge on her.

There is also Hwa Uhm's family, who raised Ya Ya when she was little and they created a strong bond. Hwa Uhm has always been in love with Ya Ya and she clearly has those feelings for him too, but out of consideration for his family, Ya Ya has always hidden her feelings. When she meets her mother again, Ya Ya makes a plan to seduce Na Dan, become part of her mother's family and gradually destroy her life.

The big problem is that Ya Ya ends up falling in love with Na Dan in the process, but fate intervenes and on the day they get married, Na Dan tragically dies, leaving Ya Ya devastated again. After Na Dan dies, Hwa Uhm finally gathers the courage, tells her family about her feelings for Ya Ya and decides to follow her heart, but her family is against this relationship and does everything they can to separate Ya Ya and Hwa Uhm.

This is one of the cruelest moments in the drama, because Hwa Uhm's family has always treated Ya Ya very well, truly as part of the family, especially her mother and grandmother, and it was the two of them who devised that plan to separate the two, forcing Ya Ya to fake her own death just so she wouldn't have to leave the country. The problem they didn't imagine was the strength of Hwa Uhm's love, who didn't want to live without Ya Ya and tried to kill herself, making it so there was no other way out than to accept their relationship.

Ya Ya and Hwa Uhm's relationship is very beautiful, it's not a fleeting love, it's something lasting. They go through many obstacles to finally be together, but all the loss and pain were necessary for them to value each other. The drama is long, it has 149 episodes and at a certain point you can't stand to see Ya Ya suffering anymore, but all of this culminates in her happiness in the end.
