This movie was so gripping and real adrenaline rush the whole imprisonment aspect (for angst lovers this movie is a must watch) especially how dark they got at times it was all excellent, even the hallucinations.
I liked the premise, a bunch of gamers, of different ages and genders band together to fight for the main lead, who is wrongfully accused of a murder. But the thing is the first part feels different from the second half almost. I feel like they were trying to get the feel of shows like Gotham because the villain was clearly Penguin inspired but it wasn't executed as well.
And it's not exactly realistic because the hero will frequently do insane action after getting the kind of injuries that should have got him completely unable to do anything. But Shim Eun Kyeong looks hot!!! But MOST action thrillers movies or books, Hollywood or otherwise, do this, they don't do realistic injuries or realistic anything, and this is one of those. My point is I'm not an idiot lol I see plot holes and other issues but for movies like this where they cast my favorite actors, I can easily overlook all that. Every movie is different.
But I have to say that prison part was very messed up, so might not be for everyone.
Anyway, so yes, if you can deal with the darkness, this is an excellent watch.

- A lot of violence, blood and graphic, disturbing scenes. If you are a sensitive viewer, discretion is adviced.
- This movie does not have any romance or comedy in it. It is purely action
- It's slightly fast paced but it didn't bother me personally. The actors were amazing, the scripting was good and the effects and stunts were really well made.
- The story is heartbreaking, crazy, clever and corrupt.
- High chance of crying
- Over imaginative use of technology but I will let it slide for now.

An addicting movie
Being an impatient person, i continuously skip scenes when i get bored. This is the first movie i watched without skipping even one scene.The story line is mesmerising. The depth in story line is beyond words. The acting is feels so real. They actually express the feelings and emotions in a very realistic way. You actually feel like you are in the movie.
This movie is stuffed with entertainment and so ahead of it's time. The fights, the car chase, the technology stuff, everything was so fascinating. I couldn't take my eyes off even for a second.
Ji Chang Wook is a fantastic actor, of course he did a wonderful job in this one as well. Actually all the other actors did great too. Shim Eun Kyung, the female lead is also a great actress. This movie was great from the beginning to the end.
In my opinion, this is one of the best movies i have ever seen. I would love to watch the movie again and again

I still don't understand what the title meant. I thought "Fabricated crime" would be an apt title as it describes the plot. Kim Sang Ho acted as a side villan here which surprised me becoz i only saw him in roles of comedian, kind person. I couldn't take seriously his actions becoz of his previous drama effect. I would have liked a little romance b/n the hacker girl and Wook but that's my opinion.
All in all its a good mve to watch on a summer evening worth 8.6/10.

In a nutshell, Freeter/NEET (whatever you want to call him) Kwon Yoo finds himself beautifully set up for a murder. Like most NEETs he spends most of his day playing online MMOs. He is the chief or leader of a raid party in what appears to be his favorite MMO. There is a fantastic scene that takes place in the game. Honestly, I thought this would be on the level of certain animes that have people possibly stuck in their games like BTOOM! or even Log Horizon. It's not. The production team did a very good job introducing the game and the real world. They make it clear this is no fantasy. His team come from behind their computers to help prove his innocence. Because of that I found the story somewhat original.
The cast is great. JCW did a very good job as Kwon Yoo, especially once he realized he needed to toughen up and protect himself to survive. The cast has some of my favorite Korean character/supporting actors like Oh Jung Se (recently in Missing 9), Kim Sang Ho (Missing 9, TEN), and Kim Won Hae (currently seen in Strong Woman DBS). Woo Hyun also has a small weird role that fit him perfectly. The cast did a fine job. They had chemistry, whether be it friendly or hatred. The connections were there.
The music was good. It helped at excitement and tension at the right places. I don't remember any actual songs, but, to be honest, one would have been out of place.
I would definitely watch this again. I hope that Netflix gets it soon so there can be actual subs timed correctly. That's right I watched a version lacking subs and what subs there were were poorly timed AND I still recommend it!

The plot is perfect. The title of the movie is fabricated city for a reason and like literally. All the connections of the rich people, how far it can lead to get away with a crime and make an innocent man guilty. Fabricated movie has a nice flow and has actual explanations of how things happen without leaving plot holes which is very important part which most of movies lack. Movie without plot holes is GOLD. Rare and when found appreciated and loved.
No surprise that Ji Chang Wook is great action actor, I have noticed few other actors that always give a pleasant feeling in dramas or movies of how natural they come out so actor choice was great in this movie. Music and soundtracks were on point I rarely complain about them in movies. Rewatch value is very high I might rewatch it with friends within the same week.

First of all, the scenes were so jumpy and incoherent that it was hard to follow what was going on and everything was a big mess. I have no idea what I even watched. The second half of the video was supposed to be fast paced and exciting but the editing was so choppy I spaced out and couldn't concentrate on the flow of the story. It was like a big chunk of the movie was cut because of overrun. The scenes had no linkage between them. One second you're running then the next second you're already driving and suddenly you're in a parking lot and then your car flies out of a window. And it all happens in like 10 seconds.
This is like a big show off of CGI and flying cars and random explosions with no purpose whatsoever. The dialogue was shallow and there was no character development and the chemistry was underdeveloped. There was a scene hinting the potential romance between the leads but then it was never mentioned again afterwards. It makes me wonder why that scene was even necessary.
The characters are pretty unique and charming, but they are wasted due to having no individual character development at all. The main focus of the plot was the rivalry between the ML and the antagonist, which was dragged on A LOT. Events happen one after another non-stop until you start wondering, "when is this movie going to end?"
The former part before the antagonist is revealed was ok, I liked the idea of fabricating scenes and controlling public opinion. But the latter part was like a wild horse on steroids. It was the first time I felt tired of watching an action film with tons of suspenseful moments. All this 100% CGI + shallow plot + 2D characters should stop cuz it's a bad representation of Korean cinema. They should make more films like The Handmaiden, A Taxi Driver and The Wailing.

Watch it as a Prequel to 2025 Drama & for Ji Chang Wook ❤️
Saw this movie & writing this review in 2024: This film is a pure blockbuster action-thriller, with focus on car chases, fight scenes, slow-motions, explosions etc. There is not much on the mystery (of the real killer - it revealed very early on), logic/reason behind their action is not impactful/suspensefully revealed, or any time given on any characters' development.I assumed it to be a psychological mystery/thriller given the synopsis of the drama but was disappointed on that front.
JCW is a treat to watch as always with his looks and acting as a game addict turned action hero. But my expectation were otherwise set - so this was an okay movie for me. I'm expecting things to be better now that the reboot will be out in 2025, played again by JCW. It will also have EXO's DO & other famous cast members, so hoping for the scale to be larger, more detailed and antagonist to be revealed with a twist (psycho character played by DO would be great too!)
VERDICT - Can Pass, unless one wants to know the original story like me, before watching the Fabricated City drama in 2025.
