The Greatest Love

This is one of my all time favorites! This drama has it all you named it. I think the story it's fresh and it's very entertaining to watch. Also all the analogies they use are spot on (the Hong sisters really know how to use them).

The casting is great everyone fits their character perfectly and they made them lovable, it was my first time seeing Seung Won, because he is more the type to do action dramas, but he was awesome here as Dokko Jin. He was so sweet the way he had like a pure crush on the heroine, and his interaction with her nephew was pure gold. I hope one day he accepts another offer for a love comedy because he fits very well the genre, Hyo Jin is a well known actress in romantic comedies and she know how to do her job very well. Also the second lead, doctor Pil Joo, was so endearing and cute and you just wanted to keep both of them.

The OSt was fitting, the song they made for the girl band once you hear it you can not get it out of your head.

I've seen this drama 2 times, so I think its rewatch value is high because both times it was a great experience and I'll love to watch it again. Definitely one of the best dramas made by the Hong sisters,

I really liked this drama, no doubt. Since it was shown on our local television network GMA before, I was not into it because of the dubbing. I did watch this one after a year from the release date since I watched The Master's Sun first before this. Gong Hyojin really chose a role or character that suits her since her acting in this drama is great. This drama is quite the basic, especially if a beginner in the Korean drama world. This drama made me happy and excitement especially in the romance parts of the drama. Both the main leads are not your typical handsome beautiful pair but it does not matter for me since they are both so good in their respective roles. It was a total hit in Korean, which I think is pretty obvious since it's a great drama.

A toddler in love with Atlas.

The Story
The series is another take on that classic nobody and somebody pairing plus a few jealous, money-hungry foils on the side. The nobody who has been through a lot and the somebody who has lived a sheltered life resulting in a stunted emotional development. A love quadrangle.

Execution
The comedy in this drama are of its time - Gen Z and Alpha may not appreciate unless they have a really good grasp of what was considered funny and cute in 2011. The visuals are also from that era when the Hallyu Wave was just peaking with worthwhile stories and passable acting before the public started to obsess with good looks resulting in the current compositions in kdramas.

Characters
The characters in this drama takes after the templates of the time:
- An ML with the emotional and intelligence quotient of a toddler - all the rage back then. There's something disgusting with a guy in his late 30's sulking and bratting around. It will really take the greatest type of love to tolerate his existence - that of a mother's.
- An FL who carried the earth in a quiet long suffering way - a really absorbent character to all the tantrum of the ML and the spite around her.
- The antagonist rival whose character will reappear played by the same actress in My Love from the Star
- The usual 2ML whose character and fate has not changed much until now.

La 14 MERAVIGLIOSA e il finale bellissimo credetemi soddisfatta poiché i protagonisti in questo drama erano pienamente presenti (applausooo) Un personaggio come Dok Go Jin non lo incontrerete più così sopra le righe, folle, egocentrico, infantile... ma alla fine un vero supereroe e affettuoso anzi devo ammettere che mi sa un po’ di So Ji-Sub (il protagonista di The Master’s sun) ahahaha non so il perché mentre la nostra protagonista è sempre lei non cambia di una virgola

Devo aggiungere però che a mia insaputa iniziando questo drama non mi ero accorta che i sottotitoli in italiano erano incompleti, quindi, per virtù dello spirito santo, dopo la decima puntata mi è toccato vederlo senza sottotitoli, fortunatamente noi dramiste sfegatate, bene o male, qualcosa la capiamo, per lo meno io il 70% quindi in drama l’ho capito solo per il 70/80% il restante lo lascio alla lingua originale, ma dai ragazze non lo potevo mica stoppare dopo averlo visto la metà mentre mi pinnavo le ditaaaaaaa , non sono il tipo da lasciare in sospeso le cose ma per fortuna l’ho finito e sono stata più che soddisfatta

La mia passione per i vecchi drama è stata di nuovo premiata con questa brillante commedia, divertente e ben recitata. In genere questi spettacoli, se non sono troppo datati, raramente annoiano. Non hanno (come invece troppe serie degli ultimi anni) lungaggini, ripetitività, annacquamenti insopportabili delle storie , spazi esagerati di fan service, pubblicità invasive, tonnellate di cliché.
Pur nella semplicità eterna della commedia romantica (amore contrastato che alla fine trionfa) i dialoghi sono spesso brillanti, le caratterizzazioni e le evoluzioni dei personaggi accurate, le vicende abbastanza plausibili anche quando improbabili.
Qui, sulla carta, lui è fortissimo - grande e bellissima star cinematografica che può dettare legge in qualsiasi situazione; lei è debolissima - ex idol dalla carriera interrotta alle prime armi che si arrabatta da una decina d'anni ai margini dell'industria dell'intrattenimento.
Ma, in realtà è lei quella forte. Le avversità della vita l'hanno temprata e non è disposta a fare la pera matura che cade nelle braccia del dio dello spettacolo, consapevole dell'inevitabile, pesante, stigma sociale che una simile, dispari relazione, genererebbe. Lui, un po' come in Secret garden e in Master's sun, si innamora contro la propria volontà e fa fatica a comportarsi da essere umano decente per buona parte della storia.
La coppia dei protagonisti è bella, brava, perfetta e la loro intesa, da manuale. La regina del drama romantico Gong Hyo Jin in una delle sue, per me, migliori interpretazioni. L'adoro.
Lui, Cha Seung Won, che è molto bello anche oggi con un bel po' di anni in più sulle spalle, in questa commedia è abbagliante nell'alta e dinoccolata figura, nei tic gestuali e mimici, nelle pose e nella naturalezza della recitazione, nella battuta sempre pronta. Va bene, è un attore che recita la parte di attore e forse questo aiuta. Non sarà facile dimenticarsi del suo personaggio, Dokko Jin, nome che lui ripete ad ogni piè sospinto per l' inesausto bisogno di autopromozione.
Pur nella leggerezza della vicenda domina incessantemente (e siamo solo nel 2011) la pesantezza della costrizione sociale che grava sui personaggi dello spettacolo. Un mondo dorato certo che però ha costi molto alti in termini di spontaneità personale e libertà individuale.
Il cinismo mercantile delle relazioni umane e sentimentali è descritto come invasivo di ogni spazio della vita dei singoli, tanto più invasivo e cinico quanto più alto è il livello di popolarità raggiunto. Il voyeurismo giudicante dei social è impudente e inarrestabile strumento di vita e di morte artistica. E' impossibile non pensare alle terribili realtà che costellano con inquietante ritmo serrato le cronache coreane del mondo dello spettacolo.
Nota: la colonna sonora non è particolarmente interessante ma ha momenti curiosi: accenni di pezzi classici fanno da contrappunto, spesso ironico e divertente, alle vicende e, verso la fine, c'è anche un omaggio sonoro proprio all'intramontabile Secret garden (2010) di cui questo drama ripercorre, in un certo modo, i passi fortunati.
