this is one of the best drama ever. It gives you butterflies, it makes my hands sweat and gives me goosebumps when the culprit is on. A bit second lead syndrome.The highschool students and That gang made the show so much funnier to watch!!I was so excited everyday to wake up and watch this. I really would love a season 2! I wish I could forget everything just so I can watch this again. Why I Dropped Strong Woman Do Bong-soon at Episode 4: The Autopsy of an Overrated Romance

Let’s get one thing straight right off the bat: I stopped watching at Episode 4. The reason? I completely ran out of medical-grade Soju needed to numb my brain against such a total disaster. And no, knowing in advance how it all ends — with the predictable "wedding + super-powered twins" package — or being told by the fandom that "he evolves later", in no way excuses the methodical destruction of tropes and the utter lack of narrative intelligence in a script that squandered a brilliant starting premise. If a restaurant serves you a rotten appetizer, you don't stay seated waiting for dessert hoping the chef has a sudden spiritual awakening.

On paper, the idea of a heroine with superhuman strength upending gender roles was fantastic. On screen, what we got is a monument to normalized toxicity and lazy storytelling. And if the fandom's go-to excuse is "but the character grows later," the reality is simple: when the first four hours lay down such deeply problematic foundations, no happy ending or alleged redemption arc can salvage the core execution.

~ The Castration of the Heroine & the CEO’s Egomania ~

Sold to the fandom as the ultimate "green flag," Ahn Min-hyuk reveals himself in just the first four episodes to be a concentrate of narcissism, possession, and economic control that would send anyone in the real world running for the hills. If this show were marketed as a surreal, grotesque fantasy about a corporate CEO who is half-man and half-swine, it would at least have some internal logic. Instead, we are sold this trash:

Abuse of Power & Employment Blackmail: The protagonist is forced into cohabitation and reduced to little more than an intimidated servant, constantly threatened with termination.

Boundary Violations & Emotional Illiteracy: From non-consensual nighttime intrusions to strategic hypochondria used as a psychological weapon to demand caretaking, the CEO constantly oscillates between a bully and a spoiled child.

Obstruction of Justice as a "Game": Filing false statements with the police regarding a serial kidnapper just to test his romantic rival isn't "eccentric charm": it's pure class-based sociopathy.

Bong-soon's Surrender: The ultimate tragedy is the protagonist's complete passivity. Faced with these abuses, a heroine endowed with super-strength offers only feeble objections, swallowing her pride in deference to the economic authority that crushes her.

~ Rom-Com or 1970s Trash Movie? The Slapstick Scam ~

Defenders of the show often brush these behaviors off as "just slapstick comedy." But hiding control dynamics behind the mask of farce is a cheap, dishonest trick:

LGBTQ+ Tropes Used as a Caricature: The CEO's fake homosexuality is used both as a shield to reassure Bong-soon and as an excuse for "comical" grope-heavy physical harassment directed at the police officer.

Alienating Tonal Dissonance: Pivoting violently from a dark, violent thriller about a women's kidnapper to scenes with blonde wigs and "locker-room" physical harassment completely breaks any suspension of disbelief.

~ The Matchmaker Mother & the Toxic Family Dynamic ~

A special mention (in the worst way) goes to the mother figure, who comfortably joins the hall of shame alongside the worst social-climbing mothers in K-drama history (like the one in Something in the Rain):

Her daughter is viewed merely as a bargaining chip to be auctioned off to the highest wealthy bidder, pushing her into outright social prostitution with zero regard for her dignity or safety.

Domestic and verbal abuse by the mother is passed off as "comical folklore," making the family dynamic even more unsavory.

~ The Final Verdict ~

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon is a textbook case of how a charismatic actor (capable of sugarcoating red flags with a puppy-dog face) and glossy production values can trick a mainstream audience into swallowing backward cultural tropes.

Applying these dynamics to real life would be a total nightmare. Four hours of psychological bullying cannot be erased by a late-stage redemption arc. An original, potentially empowering concept was sacrificed on the altar of yet another reactionary rom-com, where the male lead's wealth and good looks are treated as an automatic free pass for disrespect. A massive missed opportunity.

Note: Out of 250 K-dramas watched in 4 years, this is the first one I was absolutely forced to drop.

Recommended for: Viewers allergic to toxic male leads disguised as "green flags," critics of poorly aged rom-com tropes, and anyone who prefers dropping a bad show over suffering through 16 hours of emotional gaslighting.

Mettiamo subito in chiaro una cosa fin da subito: ho smesso di guardarlo all'episodio 4. Il motivo? Ho finito completamente la scorta di Soju di grado medico necessaria per anestetizzare il cervello di fronte a un simile disastro. E no, sapere in anticipo come va a finire — con il prevedibile pacchetto "matrimonio + gemelli con i superpoteri" — o sentirsi dire dal fandom che "lui si evolve più avanti", non giustifica in alcun modo la distruzione metodica dei cliché e la totale mancanza di intelligenza narrativa di una sceneggiatura che ha sprecato una brillante premessa di partenza. Se un ristorante vi serve un antipasto andato a male, non rimanete seduti ad aspettare il dolce sperando che lo chef abbia un'improvvisa illuminazione spirituale.

Sulla carta, l'idea di un'eroina con una forza sovrumana capace di ribaltare i ruoli di genere era fantastica. Sullo schermo, ciò che abbiamo ottenuto è un monumento alla tossicità normalizzata e alla pigrizia narrativa. E se la scusa standard del fandom è "ma il personaggio cresce dopo", la realtà è semplice: quando le prime quattro ore gettano basi così profondamente problematiche, nessun lieto fine o presunto arco di redenzione può salvare l'esecuzione di fondo.

~ La Castrazione dell'Eroina e l'Egomania del CEO ~

Spacciato al fandom come l'ultima "green flag", Ahn Min-hyuk si rivela già solo nei primi quattro episodi un concentrato di narcisismo, possesso e controllo economico che nel mondo reale farebbe scappare chiunque a gambe levate. Se questo show fosse stato venduto come una commedia fantastica, surreale e grottesca su un CEO d'azienda metà uomo e metà maiale, avrebbe almeno avuto una sua logica interna. Invece, ci viene venduta questa spazzatura:

Abuso di Potere e Ricatto Lavorativo: La protagonista viene forzata alla convivenza e ridotta a poco più di una serva intimidita, costantemente minacciata di licenziamento.

Violazione dei Confini e Analfabetismo Emotivo: Dalle intrusioni notturne non consenzienti all'ipocondria strategica usata come arma psicologica per pretendere accudimento, il CEO oscilla continuamente tra il bullo e il bambino viziato.

Depistaggio della Giustizia come "Gioco": Rilasciare false dichiarazioni alla polizia riguardo a un rapitore seriale solo per mettere alla prova il suo rivale in amore non è "fascino eccentrico": è pura sociopatia di classe.

La Resa di Bong-soon: La vera tragedia è la totale passività della protagonista. Di fronte a questi abusi, un'eroina dotata di una forza sovrumana oppone solo deboli obiezioni, mandando giù il rospo in segno di deferenza verso l'autorità economica che la schiaccia.

~ Commedia Romantica o B-Movie Anni '70? La Truffa dello Slapstick ~

I difensori dello show spesso liquidano questi comportamenti come "semplice commedia slapstick". Ma nascondere le dinamiche di controllo dietro la maschera della farsa è un trucco economico e disonesto:

I Cliché LGBTQ+ Usati come Caricatura: La finta omosessualità del CEO viene usata sia come scudo per rassicurare Bong-soon, sia come scusa per "comiche" molestie fisiche a suon di palpate rivolte all'agente di polizia.

Dissonanza di Tono Alienante: Passare violentemente da un thriller cupo e violento su un rapitore di donne a scene con parrucche bionde e molestie da "spogliatoio" rompe completamente qualsiasi sospensione dell'incredulità.

~ La Madre Ruffiana e la Dinamica Familiare Tossica ~

Una menzione speciale (nel senso peggiore del termine) va alla figura materna, che entra di diritto nella galleria degli orrori insieme alle peggiori madri arrampicatrici sociali della storia dei K-drama (come quella di Something in the Rain):

Sua figlia viene vista come una mera merce di scambio da battere all'asta al miglior offerente facoltoso, spingendola a una vera e propria prostituzione sociale senza alcun rispetto per la sua dignità o sicurezza.

Gli abusi domestici e verbali da parte della madre vengono fatti passare come "folclore comico", rendendo la dinamica familiare ancora più sgradevole.

~ Il Giudizio Finale ~

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon è un caso da manuale di come un attore carismatico (capace di indorare le red flag con una faccia da cucciolo) e una produzione patinata possano ingannare il pubblico mainstream, facendogli mandare giù cliché culturali retrogradi.

Applicare queste dinamiche alla vita reale sarebbe un incubo totale. Quattro ore di bullismo psicologico non possono essere cancellate da un arco di redenzione arrivato fuori tempo massimo. Un concetto originale e potenzialmente di empowerment è stato sacrificato sull'altare dell'ennesima rom-com reazionaria, dove la ricchezza e la bellezza del protagonista maschile vengono trattate come un pass gratuito automatico per la mancanza di rispetto. Un gigantesco spreco di potenziale.

Nota: Su 250 K-drama visti in 4 anni, questo è in assoluto il primo che sono stato costretto a droppare.

Consigliato a: Chi è allergico ai protagonisti maschili tossici spacciati per "green flag", ai critici dei cliché che sono invecchiati malissimo e a chi preferisce mollare un pessimo show piuttosto che subire 16 ore di gaslighting emotivo.

JUST AMAZING

HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST DRAMA IN HISTORY THAT I HAVE EVER LAID MY EYES TO WATCH! I recommend every one watch it. it was pretty good because i watched it when i first started watching dramas. I kinda hate romance shows that mid-way through, end up being a crime investigation. I get it if the show is about crime, but why mix romance and crime EVERY FXCKING TIME. idk i just got tired of it, but this show did a great job and the acting was pretty good from what o remember. I genuinely think they could have not casted any better people, though it's sad the actors behind the scenes. There are also so many ost's that i liked and still listen too today! I wish i could watch it for the first time again. Its cute and mysterious and keeps you on your toes. This is the show where i started to support park bo young! overall i loved it and recommend for new watchers and old too.

Excellent series, with a great CL (great OTPs between Park Hyung Sik & Park Bo Young), and funny to watch.

Girl with 1 super strength who will protect 1 CEO (bodyguard). Love triangle and menacing serial killer.

+ Excellent casting.
+ Good production without lenght.
+ Good OSTs (including one from Park Hyung Sik).
+ Super cute ending!

I watched this drama to get over my weightlifting fairy kim bok joo hangover and thankfully it didn't disappoint . It was a fun watch and i don't think it had a single dull episode. I loved the acting of the female lead and some of the moments in the drama had me laughing out too loud.

without giving out any spoilers, some of the things i loved about this drama were
- the plot! - like i said never a dull episode !!
- the fact that do bong soon is played by such a petite cute actress
- the whole team leader han doppleganger sub plot
- the acting of the supporting actors ( specially the main villain and bong soon's first crush - must say i liked him even better than the male lead)

Eu nunca imaginei que fosse tão bom

Sem duvidas um dos melhores dramas que já assisti, eu n achei que fosse gostar TANTO desse dorama. Eu comecei a assistir a uns anos atrás porém nunca tive coragem de terminar então fui reassistir este ano(2023) por conta do lançamento de Strong Girl Nam Soon. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon é extremamente perfeito, o casal é perfeito, e a história desse dorama é perfeitamente cativante, eu comecei a assistir sem parar porque é muito viciante.

O desenvolvimento do casal foi meio lento já que continha um triângulo amoroso, porém foi perfeito o jeito que eles se relacionaram, o jeito que eles se apoiavam(quando ela finalmente percebeu que gostava do CEO 😭😭). Eu não tenho dúvidas sobre o casal principal, foi a melhor escola possível, acredito que eles se completam de uma forma imensurável.

A atuação dos atores é impecável, por mais que os efeitos de imagem sejam meio ruins, isso não estragou a série de ser extremamente perfeita em todos os aspectos possíveis.

Este dorama está entrando oficialmente pro meu top 3 em segundo lugar, e não tenho arrependimentos ou críticas a fazer sobre este drama que foi incrivelmente PERFEITO.

Ok how can I start with this drama? At first I didn´t want to see it cause it seemed very similiar to "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" ...but let me tell you IT'S NOT.
I love Park Bo Young since many years ago, and in this drama she is so cute and natural. The story is very funny and it has this "funny sounds" that play when a character makes something fun.
And I have to admit that I became a huge fan of Park Hyung Shik, he is so funny, so handsome and cute. His role is so cheese, kinda gay but just in the way he behaves.
It has a lot of cute/cheese romance, but at the same time it keeps you in suspense (you have to see it to know what I´m talking about). There´ll be plenty of people you will love beisde the main roles. And last but not least the soundtrack is so catchy and perfect.
I wish there will be another season, they have enough material to do it , so....

You won´t regret it :) watch it
