Great Drama - But did not need 20+ eps
I only watched this drama so I can watch season 2 but I found myself falling in love with the characters. I loved how real the medical aspects of this drama were. They were very detailed and kept me interested, even made me wish to be a doctor haha. I got attached to all the characters and love the messages of this drama. But I feel like this drama could’ve easily been 16 eps. Some parts were dragged on and others were unnecessary or repetitive. The majority of this drama was watching them operate/help patients which is expected from a medical drama of course and a lot of those scenes were still interesting, but i feel like there was so many of them they almost acted as fillers and added nothing to the overall storyline? making the drama 16 eps wouldve been perfect because i couldnt enjoy the drama fully and had to do a lot of skipping. If i wasn’t watching it for season 2 i probably wouldn’t have finished it. nevertheless i still really enjoyed this show and loved master kim’s acting. Was this review helpful to you?

I loved the way every episode name is also described through sketch. It was unique.
Every character in this drama is special. Specially Kim sabu. He is the coolest person in this drama. The way he handles every situation is really amazing.
The main leads are so cute. Loved their interactions. Yoo Yeon Seok, oh my my... He just took my heart. That's all I can say.
The way they treat the patient is really exciting. I am not from medical sector. But each the medical cases they handle make me interested in them.
This was the first medical drama that I finished and has become one of my favorite drama.
I watched this drama recently and fell in love to the extend that I immediately started the second season right after I finished the first one.

Things I didn't like: Everything is so dramatic (not the emergency room emergencies which I expect to be somewhat dramatic, it's the everything else), there's a lot of shouting. So much low key misogyny. But the reason I dropped this show around Episode 8 or 9 and then jumped to 20-21 to see the end and Kim Hye Soo's cameo is that (CW: sexual violence mention) there is a graphic description of sexual violence against a child and then a grown male doctor touches and whispers in the ear of the child actor who plays that child without consent in a non medical context and as a CSA survivor, it just really stressed me out and I couldn't finish the show.

I expected too much for this show..
Dropped this show a long time ago. Then, I saw some clips on YouTube and decided to give it another go.In my honest opinion, I think the West/U.S TV drama produced better medical shows. Anyway with Asian drama, I think I like Doctor John better.
Skipped a lot specially at the first few episodes. Then it was like, one step at a time or in this case, one episode at a time. I got interested with the controversial ML doctor. The youngsters of the team just annoys me.
Would I rewatch this one? Maybe not..

My fav medical drama
Dr romantic is my first and my fav medical drama. I didn't like the first episode that much but got hooked up in the 2nd episode...This is just not a drama for me but an emotionCasting is perfect with Han Suk Kyu being Kim Sabu and also I became a fan of Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin after watching this .. I was really disappointed when the main cast got replaced in s2 ( having many difficulties in completing s2 ... Maybe because the cast and vibes of the drama is totally different than season 1 and also s2 has lots of politics going on than S1 )
Some medical cases brought tears into my eyes and loved how they portrayed those situations
Though the romance was not much there in the drama and it didn't affect me that much because all the medical cases and the chemistry between all the characters outweighed the romance
The character development of Kang Dong Ju was very good...how he started off as a jerk and ended up as an honest doctor at the end
The relationship development between Kang Dong Ju and Kim Sabu was also very good to watch...I still remember how they fought at the beginning and caring for each other at the end
I will definitely re-watch this drama soon ...well actually am planning to do so

Dr. Romantic – A Timeless Masterpiece
Dr. Romantic is more than just a K-drama to me—it’s my ultimate comfort show. I’ve rewatched it three times, and each time it manages to tug at my heartstrings all over again. The story, centered around the enigmatic Dr. Kim and the passionate medical staff at Doldam Hospital, is a perfect blend of emotional depth, gripping medical cases, and inspiring character growth. What truly sets Dr. Romantic apart is how it balances intense hospital drama with meaningful life lessons. The characters feel real, their struggles relatable, and their victories deeply satisfying. Dr. Kim’s wisdom, dedication, and unconventional ways never fail to move me, and the chemistry between the cast members is phenomenal.
This show has everything I love—heart, humanity, and hope. It’s not just a drama, it’s an experience. I will forever have this as my number one K-drama, and I’ll probably rewatch it many more times. If you’re looking for a series that resonates emotionally and leaves a lasting impact, Dr. Romantic is the one.

Welcome to Doldam Hospital!
Under the leadership of chief surgeon Dr. Kim, Doldam Hospital places the value on patients over profit. Set in the countryside, it’s the place “troublesome” doctors are sent. They show up with one goal: get back to the city ASAP! But under Master Kim’s guidance they grow into remarkable doctors who no longer wish to leave 😁Of course, the doctors must also fight to save the hospital from rivals with nefarious agendas. With great success comes great envy & haters always gonna hate! 😡
It’s best to watch seasons in order. The secondary cast is the same throughout, with new members joining each season. Plus, we see familiar faces that we’ve already grown to love (or hate 🤷🏻♀️).
Season 1 does a great job drawing us into the Doldam family. Our FL is at Doldam by choice; our ML is not. She’s suffering from severe trauma & guilt while he’s extremely angry, leading him to lash out at those around him. When they’re reunited, will they make peace & bravely fall in love amidst the hospital chaos? Or will he betray the staff he’s come to know so he can return to the position he’s worked so hard for?
The Doldam family is aces. They’re honest & loyal; strong & humble. They’re flawed people who truly want to help each patient they encounter. Their bond is precious. Their love & respect for Kim Sabu, which he 100% returns, is so heartwarming.
In full honesty, this is my least favorite of the 3 available seasons so far. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still really good, but the relationship drama stuff was just a bit too much for my tastes. But again - still a good drama that I recommend, if for no other reason than you should experience the full beauty of the Doldam Family in all its seasons!
Note: this is a medical drama. There are side stories & romances that get you invested, but they aren’t the focus. The medical cases take center stage.

"Romantic" Medical Drama
Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim is about Kim Sabu, the genius doctor who exiled himself in small hospital on countryside.Actually, I watched this at the past on my friend's laptop and didn't finish it so I rewatched again two days ago. Ten years late and I really feel the old vibe kdrama. How the story progessed and every character portrayed are very 2016s.
What I love the most is how they capture the "intense" vibe from the hospital emergency unit. Every patient also has its own story and every case is unique especially for me as a muggle. I learn a lot.
The plot and acting is good. The writing could've been done better. Not really fan about the politics and the higher ups plot. Also I hope the better development for some characters.
Otherwise it's still fun to watch. Maybe cause this drama hold a good memories for me or what but I still really enjoyed it

NOT YOUR TYPICAL MEDICAL DRAMA, A GREAT WATCH FROM START TO FINISH
This drama sat in my watchlist for a year. Did not know what the hype was about and did not care, as I am not into medical dramas until I ran out of shows to watch this year. Clicked on it to see if the first episode was interesting enough, and OH MY GOODNESS! This drama is so good, it hit the ground on Episode 1 and kept moving with a strong pace, great acting and medical cases which has a rather different take.I liked how everything centered around Teacher Kim (Han Seok Kyu) who is highly experienced, steadfast and passionate doctor who was framed for a case not of his doing and left a top medical hospital in Seoul to the countryside Doldam Hospital. There he keeps a really low profile and goes on with his work as Head Surgeon until one by one, doctors like Dr. Yoon Seo Jung (Seo Hyun Jin), Dr. Kang Dong Joo (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Dr. Do Im Bum (Yang Se Jong) somehow through different circumstances land to work in Doldam. Each arrives with own problems, insecurities and arrogance, but Teacher Kim is no pushover, and whips them up one by one, in his own quirky way but with much care and passion.
There is no such thing as a doctor's triple board certification, the way Doldam Hospital is managed with so much doctor's free will, with comings and goings and the medical cases may appear far fetched, but the dramatical effect is worth the effort and really entertaining. The drama was so well written and directed. The love story between Dr. Yoon and Dr. Kang played subtly in the background was well placed. And Dr. Do (Yang Se Jong) was my eye candy, so cool, handsome and good in his role.
20 episodes went by so fast for me, I just could not get enough of this really remarkable drama ........ oh, I see there is a Dr. Romantic 2!!!
