Siwan gave justice to his character as well as the other actors. I watched the movie with unexplainable emotion. The plot was perfectly done and and the scenes were magnanimously executed. This Movie would really test your emotions like what happened to me because I love movies that do have a theme of REVENGE and this movie satisfied me in so many ways.
Recommending it again and again to somebody would be an honor for me... this movie deserved a 10/10 rating... WOOOOO!!!!

Top notch actors & production!
Big Spoilers!!I like enemy's to lovers concepts but i guess this movie was exactly the opposite. I totally understood the reasons why our lead prisoner killed cop's mom. He trusts nobody. So he didn't trust the cop and wanted him to be his side with nothing on his mind. But his pure good actions leads him to fall in love with the cop. And i know the story was not a game changer but still production, acting skills and little story twists made me a fan of this movie.
To sum up i love love love the chemistry between two male actors. (Seriously did not expect this much)
I loved how our pure innocent cop turns into a revenge machine. ( I am totally on his side)
The cinematography was just perfect. Top notch! I saw some similarities with Branson and Fight Club's color palette here.
Aaaaand slapping scenes made me laugh so hard. I can watch them every single day!
I almost forget how i liked The Last Supper painting reference. Dining at a private restaurant in prison like The Last Supper painting. Aaaah writers are insane!!
Okay lastly, i loved Mafia boss's underwater video too. He could be an idol :/ Such a waste...

It's all about the acting and the actors how they deliver the needed emotions for each scene!
(I mean, there was a scene of 2 minutes not longer and I had my tears dropping much!!)
I didn't put much expectation and just opened it I was watching the first scene and was telling myself it would be a good one till the scene ended with me opening my mouth! I was really surprised then continued with much expectations and it did, I continued with an opened mouth :'),
Ok the story was good enough not astonishing or something but it served the actors and the scenes very will.
I liked the production and that they preview the actions in two different times from past to the present and so on , besides there were no much secrets or plots more than needed, I liked how I was watching and understanding the scene and the events as much as I need for the moment so I could focus on the acting with no many q in my mind obstructing me from getting amused by the current scenes...
The ending is good enough for me, I wouldn't be satisfied by another this for the story,
For the acting it was much more than good!
As I said it's totally a movie to watch the actors acting:')
And I loved their bromance a lot!!':')

A masterpiece
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie from start to finish, the twists and turns weren't super next level but they kept you on your toes and always had you guessing. This movie is the epitomy of the phrase "it's a dog eat dog world" bleak, soul crushing, and lives a bitter taste in your mouth that leaves a pit in your stomach. Absolutely amazing, and the though the ending is depressing it is satisfying and truly leaves everyone getting their just desserts.Side note, and spoilers. I can not believe they'd kill off a certain character. Those characters always seem to get away with it. So stoked to see them get pumped full of lead lmao

The ending made me felt like I wasted my time watching it
The jumps between the time lines through out the movie was horrible ,,made me confused at first ,, thought the story would go somewhere unpredictable but it's worse ,, it was actually as it showedIt was a Bromance between the police officer and the gangster but I didn't like the ending at all
the male lead was used from every side and he became the thing he was hunting at the first place
the movie is ok but not perfect
the acting of the leads was the best
Im Siwan is my favorite young actor in this genera but they didn't use all his potential too

I dunno how I ended up watching this movie but I did LOL...Oh well, the title says it allBut, I was mistaken by the poster that doesn't look as dark, but its actually darker than it looks. Especially, don't get fooled by that cute ML face like I did. lol
Yet, I enjoyed watching it, it's engaging, entertaining and plot twists after plot twists.
If you're into crime, thriller, action, go for this.
If you're okay with that, its cool to watch. Althou, I must say..I love the ML!

A beautiful crime trust story
The Merciless is one of the few gangster crime movies that I've watched that does justice to the complex dynamics involved in a criminal lifestyle where trust is scarce and death is plentiful. Yim Siwan does so much more than justice to his character and every action he performed carried more than a 1000 words. Sol Kyung Gu played the role of the older brother in such a problematic manner that at some point his character found that its own contradictions had led to his downfall.This movie always kept me guessing and really brings up the question of trust and conviction in one's own way and how others fit in that system.

If you are not good with gore and blood, I wouldn't suggest this to you. Im Si Wan did an amazing job acting his part. The storyline was well thought out and the ends met. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It was violent, exciting, and emotional. The main character was very likeable (in my opinion) and since Im Si Wan is very experienced in acting these types of characters, it was even better. I am someone who enjoys psychopathic main characters, and this satisfies it. The main character develops so much throughout the story but maintains his attractive qualities. Honestly, it reminds me of Parasite, as a comparison, because it was such a good, bloody, violent movie.Was this review helpful to you?

Pointless violence, unless that is the point. And suprisingly...memorable
Action movie outside its box. After watching this one I feel so unsettled. What was the point tell me? I am hurt, all over.Then the chemistry between Jae Ho and Hyun Soo was impeccable. I did not care that everyone else was average, how well they sold their roles. I did not feel such strong emotion from a cast in such a long long time. Jae Ho filled a role for Hyun Soo that he did not have, and then Hyun Soo did the same for him. It seemed like a perfect toxic relationship of chosen a son and a father. Visual impact was 10/10 -- Cinematography and costume design.
Merciless is the perfect title for this movie.
Acting from both leads Kyung Gu and Si Wan was just phenomenal. I wish we had some closure, not just being okay with pointless violence. Unless that was the point. But this kind of seemed like a movie without point.
Then to break down acting -- Si Wan just trumps all of complex roles. He is such a gem of an actor, and is slowly climbing to be my fave.
If you like this genre, fast-action packed, pulp-fiction type. And some good acting, you should go for it. It is an action movie that goes out of its genre. Emotionally moves you and then leaves you. Hm, kinda manipulative if you ask me :D.

My favorite korean movie
I watched it in 2020 and it stayed with me. I like rewatching it from time to time.This movie is really amazing. When I finished watching I had to sit down and think.
The story is ususual compared to other movies of this genere. It puts bigger focus on the characters. Espacially two main ones, Jaeho and Hyunsoo, make the impression and their actors, Sul Kyunggu and Yim Siwan deliver a stellar performance.
Definitely recomend it.
