All in all, if you are a fan of CSI type crime shows, this one is likely to engage your interest. The various crimes solved actually occurred, which makes them more interesting than so many of the fictional, contrived murders littering the drama landscape.

I'm like a little obsessed with crime shows and stuff so I'm being a little harsh. Overall, if this was the first time I saw a crime show, this would blow my mind. But alas, I've seen a few good ones so this doesn't really compare that well.
The story was good in the sense that most questions got answered. You find out who almost everyone is at the end. But what bothered me was that the story wasn't really tightly connected. The overarching theme was really loose and it felt a little bit forced, like parts of it was inserted just because it'll add suspense but it didn't really relate to anything too significant.
The overarching plot was predictable and too typical. I mean it's still a decent drama, I would definitely recommend, but it was a *little* disappointing.
But the individual crimes and stuff, that was kinda neat. Props.
What I appreciated was the comedic relief, they were inserted a really good times so you're not psychologically stressed the entire show. And it really builds on character development.
Acting: 8/10
The main characters really worked well together, not to mention the male leads were definitely eye candy ^^ Character development only really happened for Dr. Qin, the rest kinda helped him a long with it. Which was cute. But development was pretty typical and expected. At least the acting was professional.
Music: 6.5/10
There were not really a lot of memorable OST parts that I could remember. I'm pretty good aurally so I would remember a song that relates a certain scene or whatever. The only vaguely good parts I remember is the quirky tune during comedic relief parts. When ever that music came on, I just felp more relaxed because nothing bad is happening.
Rewatch: 5/10
I don't typically rewatch dramas, but this was short and sweet enough to maybe go and pick out my favorite episodes. What I love about these dramas are that the beginnings are individual crimes and stories so you can watch it separately.
Overall: 7/10
It was a little disappointing that the overarching theme was too loose and typical. It was too predictable and thus a little anti-climatic. But the individual crimes were pretty decent and enjoyable.
If anyone is looking for a good crime show starter or just a laid back drama, this is definitely a good one.

This is basically a case by case show. The focus on the cases is really the entire show. It doesn't really showcase any background information of the characters. There is a bit of humor like small jokes, jabs and sarcastic scenes between the characters, but like I said, it revolves solely around the different cases. I thought the main mc, Qin, would be like those genius characters I mentioned before but he really is just displays his socially awkwardness and that's it. You don't really get the full extent and knowledge of the personalities of any one of the characters. It really is based on your own interpretation of what the characters are like. There is no romance, no background struggles besides from solving the cases. Episodic. Like I mentioned, besides from a little humor here and there, nothing else. Acting wise, I have no compliments or complaints. I don't think I'm going to rewatch this show. It really is kinda dull and one sided when telling the story of the cases. The cases though, are somewhat interesting. The gruesomeness of the forensic investigations aren't especially high but to people that are weak to even just seeing somebody cut open a cadaver or seeing large amounts of blood, then it is on the slightly grisly side.
If you are solely interested in a mystery and like watching how cases are being solved, then this show is for you. It cuts out all the fluff of the character relationships, backgrounds, etc and focuses on the process of how the police force and forensics professionals solve the cases.

The plots are pretty interesting (not mind-blowing, but interesting enough that you'll want to continue watching). There isn't anything I haven't seen before on any other show, but the show was medically educational. I actually learned a few very interesting facts about the human body and general function of things. The scenes were also pretty streamlined and played with your emotions pretty well. There wasn't a single boring moment.
My only nitpick is that the actors/actresses have a habit of touching their face all the time... including during an autopsy or while examining a corpse. So they'll be prodding a bloated and rotten corpse with their gloved hands, and then wipe sweat from their face in the next second. Okaaay.

Dont waste your time to watch this
"Medical Examiner Dr. Qin" disappoints with its final case, a ludicrous plotline that renders the entire episode pointless. Despite promising comedy early on, the series quickly loses steam, offering tedious and uninspiring cases. Don't bother watching for Zhang Ruo Yun or Li Xian's acting; it's simply not worth your time. The existence of a second season is truly surprising. Save yourself the disappointment and skip this one altogether. The lack of character development and repetitive nature of the cases make it hard to invest in the show, leaving viewers feeling unsatisfied and unengaged. It's a regrettable waste of potential. Was this review helpful to you?

I watch this because of Li Xian, but then I really love the story and all the casts. This drama is just like TV Series CSI, and since I love that series, I also love this. But I think I must warn you because the first 2 episodes really shake my stomach in the level I want to throw up. They really explicit about the corpse (or the remaining of it), that’s why I put ‘18+’ sign here. What relieved me was that in the following episodes, they censored the corpse with whatever their conditions. The story was great. It seems that the cases are stands alone, but then they’re related to the one Qin Ming’s old case. Those case also reveal Qin Ming’s past and his father’s case. Too bad they didn’t show or explain the detail of Qin Ming’s old case which became the background of some case.
As for the casts, they’re really did a great job.
Zhan Ruo Yun did a great job of portray Qin Ming’s stoic and systematic personality.
Jiao Jun Yan also great at portray Li Da Bao’s character. It’s so funny to watch how brave she is when facing Qin Ming at his territory, a morgue (o^▽^o)
Li Xian as Lin Tao is also great. He can be serious at some time and be silly in the very next second. But I think he still a bit clumsy when he hold a weapon (^_^;)

I came here because Zhang Ruo Yun (def eye candy) was in it! He was quite good in this drama... all though I am very biased in that manner :P

Overall the story was well done. They did a great job explaining everything and introducing you to all the right characters. My only issue is that the beginning felt really loose. It didn't tie into the rest of the story as tightly as I would have liked. The later half of Medical Examiner Dr. Qin was the better half in my opinion. Each episode furthered the plot along and answered more questions.
The ending was great! The dynamics among the three main characters was great throughout the show so it was so nice to see a happy ending for them.
I'm not sure I would watch this again but I definitely wouldn't mind a second season.

Mystery Theatre at its best
Qin, Medical Examiner is a very tense drama, with suspense and sporadic comedic dialog to alleviate the tension. The autopsy scenes are very graphic.Zhang Ruo Yun, Jiao Jun Yan and Li Xian created the best forensic TV drama team. Every case was tense, as the subplot unfolded. The supporting actors also did a very good job.
Directing and editing were done well, except for the constant shaky camera that caused motion sickness. The director could have invested a few budget dollars in a tripod for the cameraman. Music was very good, and fit the mood of the scenes. Overall, a well done drama, similar in style to the British detective dramas!

Great Show Except....
Here's another completely biased review from me to you.I absolutely loved the first 15 episodes of this series. This is a typical murder of the week show. What makes it so special is the cast. This is how you do bromance! Including the FL! She was there as one of the guys only, not as a romantic interest or damsel in distress. Well, except for the last episode but we'll get to that later.
When cdramas need to add a female to the mix to make a series not so gay🙄, this is the way to do it. The character is all those cliches that are used to describe female leads in these types of shows: spunky, fiesty, smart, cute, whatever. She is adorable. Plus, she was awesome. One of the team, pulling her own weight and then some. I really wish this type of character was used more often in cdramas instead of the toddler breathy baby-talking helpless females who need to be rescued all the time. And damn, this was a 2016 series so ahead of it's time.
So like I said, the first 15 episodes were great fun. The chemistry between all 3 characters was just perfect with their bantering. Loved it! And then did they get another writer or something? Cause all of a sudden it went from the fun murder of the week trope to the typical 'ML has a dark past with his father being unjustly murdered and him trying to find out what happened with a psycho stalker who is killing people to f*ck around with the ML and all of a sudden the ML is framed for murder and everyone thinks he did it except for his 2 partners'. And that's when they turned the FL into the damsel in distress that needed saving. Luckily this parted ended quickly but still irritating to me! This type of story has been done umpteen times and it's boring. Rather than do that to screw up a great series just keep doing what was working, murder of the week. 😢
I would watch the first 15 episodes again, then just stop watching after that. The stories are fun. Not a whole lot to the solving of murder parts, since they seem to solve them way to easily, but it's fun. The only warning is this series is hella graphic in it's portrayal of the autopsies so you want to watch this on an empty stomach and maybe turn away from the screen and turn the volume down some times. Just a thought.
