- The premise of esports seems cool and exciting, but I was pretty bored. A lot (A LOT) of time is given over to flashbacks that really drag and don't really reveal much about what's going on presently. Most of the info in the flashbacks could be condensed or even skipped over. I ended up skipping most of the flashbacks and I didn't find myself confused at all.
- Pretty disappointed in the main character. They hype her up to be this cool genius computer programmer who's also a hugely popular singer, so I was excited because I love talented main characters. Unfortunately, most of the time she's just running after the guy and acting like a total idiot. She never really seems to understand what's going on and doesn't stick up for herself. A lot of reviewers criticize her clothes, but I didn't have a problem with that as much as her terrible lack of personality.
- The pacing of the show is really strange. Certain unnecessary parts take up half the episode, while parts of the show that I'm interested in are skimmed over. I skipped through all the boring bits, but I realized that I was fast-forwarding through at least 60% of the show. Not worth it.
I don't understand how people are saying that this show is exciting.. It's pretty slow. I stuck with it hoping it would pick up, but by episode 10 it should have. I would watch more, but other reviewers got as far as episode 12 and said it was still boring.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WATCH THIS
I sign up for the account just to write this review. People must hype this drama because they are fans of the actor/actress. The story is trashy. The FL is stalker and have no personality. The ML is rude. The ML already reject the FL but still hanging around to follow the ML. Girl, where are your principle?Was this review helpful to you?

I dislike the FL character, idk maybe I don't like characters who acts all cutesy and innocent on the outside, but she stalks the ML and basically spamming ML messages. I get that she likes him, but if ML is the one who acts like that, I bet this drama would've been considered a "toxic relationship" drama.
I think overall this drama is overhyped.. In my opinion, maybe just maybe, if you like games, and gaming drama, you might find this drama interesting, but I don't understand a thing. It's different when I watch You Are My Glory, it's about gaming too, but I understand most of it.
Moreover, I'm just saying, in my opinion, C-Drama now days has too many gaming drama, idk it's just boring..

Slight spoiler alert, but GO Go Squid is Good & rewatchabl
I know this is YEARS late, and I’ve already rewatched it over and over, but I just had to get my thoughts out there. I really liked this drama, especially the ML and the secondary characters on the teams & the FL friends . The FL did get on my nerves a bit, especially the way she pursued the ML in the beginning, and she is NOT a very realistic kisser. But her personality grew on me as I watched. The ML is so good, though a little too cold and aloof to start off with, that, other than being handsome, I really don’t know why the FL kept pursuing him after he first rejected her. But I could see what an impact she made on the ML as their relationship slowly developed. The other team members and cast were really great.My biggest character disappointment is the ML grandfather. When he first came on the scene he seemed a little quirky, but soon you could see how he was actively hostile to the Ml, even as the ML became much less cold and stoic as the drama progressed, and even after the FL explained how important the ML’s work on the computer really was (the grandfather always complained how lazy the ML was and that he “played” on his computer instead of getting a “real” job). Up until nearly the end the grandfather always talked critically (and meanly) to the ML, but was totally fine with the ML’s cousin, who was also his grandson and who was on the exact same team and worked under the ML on the team, too, on the computer! The ML was the LEADER of the team and was one of the FOUNDERS of the entire club. I truly believe that part of the reason the ML was so cold in the beginning was that his grandfather was CONSTANT,Y berating him and comparing him to his cousin, whom the grandfather thought was so perfect. There was no animosity between the cousins, however.
Having said that, this is still so much one of my favorite dramas that I actually bought the DVD! The cinematography, the music, the acting was just terrific and the overall quality of this drama Go Go Squid definitely make this worth watching! Highly recommend. Thanks for reading.

In my opinion an overrated drama. It's just mediocre.
First of all, what I liked most about this drama is it's OST song "杨紫 牛奶面包 Yang Zi - Niu Nai Mian Bao".The story itself is ok. I like the acting of the main male and female lead. They are cute.
However the rest of the drama is quite annoying:
You could tell the whole story in 20 episodes as well without omitting content. Too many annoying memory scenes. Viewers are not stupid and forget previous scenes that quickly!
The game battles are not shown in a realistic way, the game itself neither.
Several foreigners appear in that drama. Yes, they probably speak Mandarin well, but they can't act at all!

Real english title: Go Go K&K
The main problem with this cute (but often boring) c-drama in a sentence: "At his house doing chores, I'm so happy!" Yes, FL actually said that. C'mon girl... The title (at least the English translation) would suggest that FL is the main character. Instead, she simply exists as a cute accessory to ML. The drama is about him, his growth, his journey. FL, despite occupying many scenes, serves no purpose. She is a cute ornament busy being worried about ML, putting on makeup, making coffee and serving all the men in the drama.What I liked: the first few episodes are really funny, FL and ML have great chemistry, ML is really handsome and all the scenes with the K&K team guys are adorable and hilarious. They are the real heart of the drama.

Go Go Squid is a cute gaming and romance Chinese drama about the trending E Sport Industry. The main characters of this story are a popular online cover singer, and a legendary professional gamer who is also the boss of a professional gaming club. This story is about the challenges in the E Sport Industry, and the budding romance between a cool introverted professional gamer and a cute extroverted online cover singer. The cast did a great job pulling off their characters and the soundtrack was good. I would recommend this drama regardless of whether you are a gamer or not. I'm not much of gamer myself but I still enjoyed watching it. The only thing that I wish to see is to see the main male lead compete again in the arena at the end but that didn't happen which is unfortunate. Was this review helpful to you?

a pop culture romance story that is not too believable
i think this series as a whole can be described as a cutey-lovey-dovey kind of series. it is generally light-hearted, the kind of series that may be for a certain type/s of audience, but not for another type/s of audience. this series is more on romance story that is supported by the esports plot/sub-story. it is one of the very few C-drama that I've watched without fast forwarding any episode, or skipping an episode. the acting of several characters notwithstanding the main characters are enjoyable. there is no character that evokes strong disgust or annoyance, which is a pleasant welcome. if you watch it without being too analytical or critical, then the series becomes more enjoyable.the main female character can be paralleled to the common trend of fan-idol worshipper who has a deep crush with the idol. sometimes i feel the main male character mistreats the main female character. sometimes, i also feel as if the main female character is objectified, maybe from the way the character is supposed to act/dress/behave.
one of the things that didn't make much sense for me is how realistic is it for a doctoral student who knows programming language, and who is interested in artificial intelligence to be so clingy, meek/docile, and be an obsessive idol worshipper. the female lead is even willing to bring down her own sense of self-worth or dignity for a man who sometimes mistreat her. of course in love, and in real life, there is always that possibility that such a character exists.
to a certain extent, this series reveals much more of real life than it realizes. for examples,
+ percentage of female esports players groom by esports competitive clubs;
+ percentage of professional female esports players in the industry;
+ obsessiveness and fan-idol worshipping;
+ typecast 'acceptable' female characteristics/behaviors (meek; docile; subservient; etc.)
+ the under-represented frequency and seriousness of emotional/psychological abuse on women in the society
+ etc.

Amazing drama?
It's one of the sweetest stories I've ever seen. I was biased because it was 41 episodes, but in the end, I was saddened by why this drama was so short. Every part of it was perfect. Han shangyan and tong nian's love story was tremendous🫶💕 i love them soooooo much. Not only the parts about love, but also the friendships were written wonderfully.Was this review helpful to you?

As for me in England, I prefer GGS 2 than GGS 1!
As I have watched first the Go Go Squid 2 then the Go Go Squid 1 after, I would say that I like watching GGS 2 more than GGS 1. Both have different storyline we could enjoy. However, Li Yitong and Hu Yitian are more good looking couple and adorably cute together; plus they are naturally better in acting! Hence, I personally prefer the GGS 2 than GGS 1 (sorry...:-( )GGS 2 makes me feel warm and smile but yet not to think of it as too childish like love portrayed in GGS 1. I am also rather puzzled to read comments mentioning that popularity and beauty of Yang Zi (once golden eagle goddess?) has surpassed many including Li Yitong.
I have watched some of Li Yitong and Yang Zi dramas before the GGS. In fact, both are equally great in acting, but I truly think that Yang Zi is not that beautiful as people say. Li Yitong are more sophisticatedly sweet and lovely than Yang Zi despite her less popularity. Li Yitong’s less popularity is not like because she is less talented actress, but it is simply because she is workaholic; and mainly keeps her self low profile keeping a good distance from the show-off bizz. But many of her works are remarkably good. So yes, not big fan of Yang Zi and Li Xiang for some reasons.
