2nd review of this toxic drama

Okay, when I first wrote about Tharn/Type, I gave it 10s across the board. I know now that this was because I never really watched this show with an "adult" eye. Having read some of the reviews (positive & negative) and then re-watching the show, I've revised my opinion.

I give the acting for this show a 10 due to the ACTORS, not their characters. The actors portraying their characters were very good. I even like the acting of Kittipat Kaewcharoen (Kaownah) who played the antagonist Lhong. All played their parts well despite the very difficult plot.

However, the plot was very toxic for Tharn & Type (and Lhong, too). The fact of Type's being raped by a man as a child is totally glossed over, the fact that Tharn kisses and touches Type while he is asleep and without Type's consent, that despite his childhood trauma Type still allows Tharn to give him a bj and then as a "thank you" and to "do it once and get it over with", Type becomes the "under" for Tharn - who said that this won't be just once, is DISGUSTING and ABHORRENT! How did Type "get over" his trauma so quickly without any type of therapy? Why didn't Tharn, who supposedly loves Type so much, use his care for Type to gently encourage and help Type deal with and heal from that trauma before trying to become Type's boyfriend? And why did Tharn, when he and Type officially became a couple, immediately take type out to a bar, KISS HIM IN PUBLIC and then get upset when Type got angry? Just because Tharn was comfortable with his sexuality (he'd had time and came out on his own terms) didn't mean Type could handle it and WANTED to announce that he had a boyfriend! Tharn was incredibly SELFISH to EXPECT Type to admit his feelings for Tharn.

And the very toxic Lhong and how he manipulated Tharn and assaulted and almost murdered Type because he (Lhong) thought that he DESERVED Tharn as a boyfriend as he'd been Tharn's "friend" for years. He gets NO jail time or time in a psychiatric hospital? He's not punished at all? WHY did Tharn's own BROTHER treat Lhong with no anger whatsoever, and wish Lhong all the best?!

All in all, this drama was NOT a good BL, nor a good DRAMA, at all, not because the acting was not good, but because of the awful script and awful direction. So I've revised my "10" review down to 3.0 - and I don't recommend anyone watch this.

To start, I've watched this drama over and over and even went so far as to buy the DVD (which I RARELY do). I loved all the characters, especially Cinderella and her "four knights" (tho truthfully there only seemed to be 3). Park So-dam as Eun Ha-won, the lead female character, was spot on! Not too cutesy, not too brassy, she truly represented someone who despite her struggles was able to stand alone, independent, and was able to still find the joy in life. The 3 Knights: Jung Il-woo as Kang Ji-woon, the middle cousin, was terrific! The right amount of handsomeness, arrogance - but because of past hurts not because he thought of himself as better than anyone - and fun! And he had great chemistry with Park So-dam. Ahn Jae-hyun as Kang Hyun-min, the eldest cousin, was hilarious! So full of himself, but also dealing with deep hurt inside. He and Park so-dam had sparks & their relationship was such fun to watch. Then there's Lee Jung-shin as Kang Seo-woo, the youngest cousin, a popular singer-songwriter and top star. His was the most "real" relationship with Park So-dam, IMHO, and they sparked like brother & sister. He was such a good guy - and he and his Mom together were PRICELESS! Choi Min as butler Lee Yoon-Sung was so cool but so funny when confronted with Eun Ha Won's independence! And I LOVED Ms Beolgyu who was the cook & maid. The guys who played Kang Hyun-min's friends were perfect, too. LOVED THE ENTIRE CAST! This is funny, light, engaging & just plain enjoyable to watch! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Fun, laughter, drama and CHEMISTRY!

I have actually bought the DVD of "Love Is Sweet", it is THAT GOOD! The story itself begins early and doesn't let up. The FL, Jiang Jun, (played perfectly by the beautiful Bai Lu) is allergic to her own tears (a real disease called tear allergy or allergic conjunctivitis) since childhood. ML, Yuan Shuai, (played phenomenally by Luo Yun Xi), who is her friend from childhood, is the one she runs to if she has to cry so he'll help her (as her father had asked of him). He does bully her, but it is to toughen her up so she doesn't cry easily. Jiang Jun is intelligent and has graduated with degrees in economics and psychology. She is also quirky with a terrific sense of humor. Suddenly her father dies of a heart attack after an accident. Too fulfill his wish, Jiang Jun begins working for a top investment firm, MH. There she meets Yuan Shuai again, (who is the Executive Director of MH) but he doesn't think she can handle the job and tries to make sure she isn't hired, despite doing very well in the interview. But despite his protests, Jiang Jun is hired.

Jiang Jun and Yuan Shuai are attracted to each other, but Jiang Jun is so angry at Yuan Shuai for trying to keep her from being hired at MH, doesn't want to be bothered with him. In reality, Yuan Shuai, has secretly loved Jiang Jun for the past 10 years

Jiang Jun has a mentor, Du Lei (played by the terrific actor Gao Han Yu) who is the Executive Director of a rival investment firm GE. He teaches her all about investments and how to be confident in herself. Which comes in handy as Qiao Na (played by the gorgeous Zhao Yuanyuan), MH's Vice President, is strict with employees.

Finally, Yuan Shuai confesses to Jiang Jun, who returns his love and they start dating. Qiao Na is furious as she always believed she would end up with Yuan Shuai. Meanwhile, Du Lei has been quietly pursuing Jiang Jin and does all he can to keep her from Yuan Shuai. This brings about tension in the drama, too, especially from Du Lei (whom Gao Han Yu plays so intensely).

All through the story there is such great comedy, especially between Yuan Shuai and Jiang Jin. They are so good together and you can tell they are friends off-screen, as well. The chemistry is off the charts. The entire cast is terrific, and the show is one I highly recommend. Thanks for reading.

Not great, but a quick, cute story

"Fake Sweet Wife", when I first saw it on YouTube, seemed to be something someone put together from a longer story. But I've some to see that this is truly the entire story.

While the production quality was pretty terrible & the dubbing wasn't in sync at all, the story was pretty good for me. Given that it was very short I was able to watch it. Even rewatched it when it came up on YouTube.

I like the main leads, Lu Chan Dong as the heir Jiang Ji Chen, and Xiong Yuan Yuan as Tang Bei Bei. The script wasn't very good, but they did great with it. Some of the other characters, like the "sister" of Bei Bei, and Ji Chen's doctor, were way too over the top, however. I just ignored them.

I just got a little kick out of this short story, a break from all of the dramas where triangles, exes, awful families and breakups rein. :)

Realistic, romantic, intelligent drama (just one spoiler)

First, let me say that Sunshine of My Life is one of my go-to dramas to re-watch as it is a relatively rare type - the couple, once together stays together, despite difficulties and challenges.

The ML (Zhang Han is one of my favorite actors) and FL (Xu Lu now one of my favorite actresses) have such wonderful chemistry. Their acting skills make Mingxuan and Mo Fei seem like a real couple, with affectionate little touches & looks from each of them. And I love that, thought a confident CEO, Mingxuan isn't cold and/or mean. He knows how to laugh, has fun lightly teasing his assistant, Yang Guang (played terrifically by Li Xin Zhe!) and is a little innocent in love, allowing Yang Guang to teach him a bit. But I really love that he isn't afraid of hard work. His intelligence & hard work ethic helps to keep his company flourishing .

Mo Fei is just a fantastic character; strong, capable, independent , talented woman without being whiney or the typical "crying excessively" type. She never feels sorry for herself and always pushes forwarded to fulfill her own dreams, not relying on anyone but using her own "smarts" and talents. Mo Fei and Minxuan were so REAL & handled problems as adults, being willing to forgive each other and understand each other's views with time & thought. AND THEY NEVER BROKE UP! OUTSTANDING! :) And I loved that they WAITED to sleep together until they knew that they were truly in love, not just in lust!

Also, Mo Fei can sure dish out to others what others dish out to her -- the SFL in particular. Mo Fei is the epitome of the word "sassy" and takes down the SFL with words, with eloquence and style, rather than the tricks the bitchy SFL uses. Wang Rui Zi played Xueling exactly right! Why are so many SFL characters so self absorbed that they can't tell that the ML isn't in love with them? If the ML is only being friendly, the SFL ALWAYS thinks that means that he loves her and wants to marry only her!

All of the actors played their parts beautifully, especially the SML. Hong Yao plays him as so arrogant that even when the ML and FML are together, he continues to think he can change her mind (which is why he moved into the apartment beside her in France). I also love the character of his sister, Fang Qian (played so well by Wang Xuan). She is a little TOO sweet for my taste, but the character calls for that and Wang Xuan delivers it beautifully.
Mo Fei's relationship with her brother Mo Fan (played terrifically by Jerron Wu) portrays a real brother-sister dynamic and it's hilarious and heartwarming.

The other characters: Minxuan's parents, Mo Fei's mother, Mingxuan's cousin, and all of the others (especially Cheng Yang the new designer at Mingyuan for whom Mo Fei is his assistant (played with such class by Xu Ge), as well Master Li, the owner of the embroidery workshop, Suzhou. (played gently & beautifully by Qian Jie)

The only problem I had, and why I gave the music a 9.5, was the song "Falling for You" which played throughout the drama. It very quickly became annoying for me.

The clothing in this drama were outstanding! You really felt they worked in the FASHION industry!

Over all this drama is a solid 10, in my opinion. VERY rewatchable, VERY realistic and intelligent. Highly recommended!

The Best version of "Itazura Na Kiss"

I have seen this "They Kiss Again", as well as the first part "It Started With A Kiss" and I really believe it is the best version of the "Itazura Na Kiss" story (I've watched all versions).

The ML, Jiang Zhi Shu (exceptionally played by Joe Cheng), starts out as the aloof genius who looks down on the FL, Yuan Xiang Qin (played by the beautiful Ariel Lin) as he feels so superior to her. What's different about this version is Joe Cheng plays Zhi Shu as someone who just hasn't had to deal with others, especially in Class F, so he just dismisses them. After rejecting Xiang Qin's attempt to confess to him, he has to deal with her every day as her father and she start to live with Zhi Shu's family, friends of Xiang Qin's father, when their own house is destroyed in an earthquake.

As Zhi Shu very reluctantly, gets to know Xiang Qin (especially through his mother who LOVES and dotes her "new daughter"), he slowly comes to understand that, though not as intelligent as he is, there is something about her that draws him. NOTHING romantic at first! But through dealing with Xiang Qin and her friends (especially the hilarious Ah Jin (perfectly played by Jiro Wang), he begins to see parts of himself that he never thought he had in him.

For me this is totally realized in "They Kiss Again", after they are married. He truly begins to care about Xian Qin and she matures, as well. They each grow together and see things in each other that has them realizing who THEY themselves are. Again, Xiang Qin's friends, play a crucial role in helping Zhi Shu understand the changes he's feeling, and they are so helpful to Xiang Qin as she matures and learns to handle Zhi Shu's changing emotions.

This is such a mature version, with each character more well defined and deeper than other versions. I love how Joe Cheng plays the confused & vulnerable Zhi Shu as he begins to see Xiang Qin in an entirely new light. I also love how Xiang Qin begins to accept who she is, as well as her own potential. While I truly like ALL the versions if "Itazura Na Kiss" THIS version is the one I go to over and over again and I highly recommend it.

Slight spoiler alert, but GO Go Squid is Good & rewatchabl

I know this is YEARS late, and I’ve already rewatched it over and over, but I just had to get my thoughts out there. I really liked this drama, especially the ML and the secondary characters on the teams & the FL friends . The FL did get on my nerves a bit, especially the way she pursued the ML in the beginning, and she is NOT a very realistic kisser. But her personality grew on me as I watched. The ML is so good, though a little too cold and aloof to start off with, that, other than being handsome, I really don’t know why the FL kept pursuing him after he first rejected her. But I could see what an impact she made on the ML as their relationship slowly developed. The other team members and cast were really great.

My biggest character disappointment is the ML grandfather. When he first came on the scene he seemed a little quirky, but soon you could see how he was actively hostile to the Ml, even as the ML became much less cold and stoic as the drama progressed, and even after the FL explained how important the ML’s work on the computer really was (the grandfather always complained how lazy the ML was and that he “played” on his computer instead of getting a “real” job). Up until nearly the end the grandfather always talked critically (and meanly) to the ML, but was totally fine with the ML’s cousin, who was also his grandson and who was on the exact same team and worked under the ML on the team, too, on the computer! The ML was the LEADER of the team and was one of the FOUNDERS of the entire club. I truly believe that part of the reason the ML was so cold in the beginning was that his grandfather was CONSTANT,Y berating him and comparing him to his cousin, whom the grandfather thought was so perfect. There was no animosity between the cousins, however.

Having said that, this is still so much one of my favorite dramas that I actually bought the DVD! The cinematography, the music, the acting was just terrific and the overall quality of this drama Go Go Squid definitely make this worth watching! Highly recommend. Thanks for reading.
