I thought this drama was really loving and sweet. I like it a lot. Sure it needed a few things to make it better but it wasn't bad. I'm glad I watched this drama. I enjoyed watching it very much.

When the characters were actually working on the musical it was very interesting. Then somewhere in the middle the story took several directions. Towards the end it became just very dramatic and there was no focus on musicals. I actually forgot that this drama was called the Musical just because there wasnt that much music. I didn't watch the end but heard it was rushed so I'll probably just read a recap. Still though for most of the time the story kept my interest.
I think the casting was perfect...except for Ko Hye Sun. I think what brought the quality down was her poor singing voice. Also, her character development was poorly written so that plus her awful voice just made it hard to want to root for her. Daniel Choi was perfect in his role. I did like all the supporting characters.
The music was memorable but nothing I'd want to listen to outside the show.
I'm not sure If Id rewatch this or not.
Overall if this drama was written better and casted with a better female lead it would have left a lasting impression but since thats not the case I'd just rate it as being average but worth watching once.

At first, I was surprised because I didn't know that Goo Hye Sun can sing (she's really great, but not that great to become a real singer).
It was very great during the first few episodes especially the fast pace of the love story (although disappointing). The song that Choi Daniel made was great but can they please not repeat the song for no reason at all?
This drama was just too confusing and disappointing. I really wanted to love this drama but during the "Falling Action," I was just left dumbfounded. The interest was gone and it bored me.
I super hate that musical actress bitch.
Overall, this is a so-so drama. :)

If only for the bar performances; the drama was worth watching. There were some scenes that sent the shivers down my spine; of course music scenes.
It's a dream pursuit drama about music so I definitely don't regret watching it one bit. Won't recommend it though.
The cast was great. Choi Daniel wasn't given a sufficient space to glow; speaking as a fan. Koo Hye Sun filled the role but I had ab bit of a problem with the role itself. Oh Jung Se is always a favourite; couldn't shine here as well. The two people who won over my heart here were Park Ki Woong and Kim Young Min; they rules.
Will not rewatch it but will listen to the music from time to time.

It’s not that the actors did a bad job, there were some nice moments but the weak (or can we say Lazy?) writing sent this ship sinking down faster than the titanic. Leads lacked chemistry also I think.
And the ending? Smh… for a musical Drama, where was the Finale performance? Or maybe this was cut by the production? The only thing that comes to mind is Lazy execution of what could have been a great drama. Shame.

OK! Now to move on to what I rly liked. I loved Choi Daniel's character & Park Ki Woong's character. I wanted more from them b/c they did such an awesome job playing their parts. I loved Daniel's child-like nature & Ki Woong's serious side. They did so well that it totally made up 4 the things that disappointed me.
I prolly will not watch this again just b/c it is not as awesome as it could have been. It was a good story but it could have been better. Watch it and decide 4 urself.

"The Musical" tells the story of Eun Bi, a medical student who dreams of becoming a musical actress, she meets Jae Yi and her life changes forever. He falls in love with her voice and wants her to be the lead in the musical he is writing.I was really impressed with Gu Hye Seon's singing, I don't know if she was dubbed, but if not, her voice is really beautiful and that is one of the things that is missing in the drama, it doesn't show much of the musical and that should have been the main focus. We see the auditions and parts of it, but I wanted to see a lot more.
Yoo Jin is the best character. At first he hates Eun Bi, but over time he becomes more interested in her. I think there is a connection between the two, which could not be replicated with Jae Yi.
Eun Bi and Jae Yi as a couple just didn't work, this is my personal opinion, but there is no chemistry, it is just weird to see them together. That's why I think the writers made a mistake, they should have put her together with Yoo Jin.

A musical without a musical....
Gu Hye Seon got a real talent in packing up projects that are guaranteed to flop or disappoint. This is a musical that failed in the music department. A bit of music at the beginning and at the end while the rest was just drama. We didn't even get to see the musical they were preparing for!! Anyway, it's a big flop. Was this review helpful to you?
Misunderstood Character
I think Goo Hye Sun did a great job in the character of Go Eun Bin who is a character suffering from lack of maternal love, She closed her heart to loving anyone except music so she will never feel that pain of anyone leaving her. As much as she avoids it, love comes looking for her - two men falling for her. I personally wanted her with the CEO as they shared the same pain and understood each other's pain. If only he had pursued her like the teacher maybe they would have been together. Was this review helpful to you?
