Well done!
Totally worth the guilt trip.Pretty photography.
Endearing characters, all of them!
Lovely mood if sometimes so suffocating... I fast forwarded because the angst was too intense for me
but I eventually returned and watched the whole thing.
I highly recommend it.
Not a flaw.
Enjoy!

A tale of courage
This is not a story that condones or encourages romantic relationships with minors. This is a story about the mistakes we make, the consequences we pay and the painfully unforgettable memories that come with it.
This is a story that smells of nostalgia, youth and first love.
A story that inspires courage.
I had to express most of my feelings in my native language but let's take a look at the ratings in English:
---- Story 8.0/10
Although the focus of the story is on the forbidden relationship between Hijiri and Akira, the story follows Hijiri's time and growth as a teacher. We watch her grow from an immature, naive, lacking-in-confidence newbie to a teacher who was able to face her students and parents straight on. Despite being commented by numerous people that she wasn't suited to become a teacher, she held on to her passion. It's one of the things I appreciated most in this drama. The transformation of Hijiri as an individual, the courage she mustered, the resolve she grew to have, it was her memories with and feelings for Akira that gave her the strength to stand on her own. Confidence, courage, determination. These are not things that others can give you. The fact that she was able to find them within herself at the end of everything is enough proof that it had been a journey well worth it.
And of course, I loved the storyline revolving around Hijiri and Akira. By no means was their time together long enough to be convincing that it would be a relationship that lasts forever, but the fireworks at night, the fingers that barely intertwined, the stolen stares and skipped heartbeats, the gradual setting of the sun, the gentle waves of the ocean, the desperation, fear and uncontrollable desires. Sometimes there's just no reason at all. And the fact that a J like me was convinced of their thoughts for each other really shows how successful the production was in the portrayal of their journey together. I haven't watched a lot of Japanese dramas but most that I've watched, I always had to fast forward in some of the parts. But not this. Unless it's the Shotaro-Haraguchi storyline, which I'm not a fan of but I'm most likely in the minority. Anyway that's how much I was engrossed in how Hijiri and Akira's story unfolded. The plot is not flawless in the least (that slap?? And we need more of the ending), but there is an immense charm to it that made me finish the whole thing in one day.
---- Cast 8.0/10
Honestly, everyone was pretty great (how is this Mizukami's debut role??) but Arimura's acting lacked just a bit of depth in some places. It would have made the watching experience more engrossing if her acting was better, as important as her role was. But most of the times her performance was passable and there were several scenes where I was impressed with her acting as well.
---- Music 9.0/10
"Prologue" is such an amazing song. The lyrics spoke of what Hijiri and Akira couldn't. All of the BGMs/OSTs fit the vibe so well.
---- Rewatch value 8.5/10
Even though it was so depressing in parts, I loved the atmosphere of the series, especially the first five episodes! I rewatched it the next day I finished it and plan to do it in the near future again.
---- Overall 9.0/10
Because I enjoyed it so much and because I was so inspired by the characters. I can't say that I will ever have as much courage as Hijiri and Akira did. In fact I'm fairly certain I never will and never had. But it's incredibly endearing to know the courage and transformation love brings.
Lastly, major props to the production team - every cliffhanger, every close-up shot, every slow-motion frame, the impeccable timing when the OSTs played, the colours, the angles. All of these built together to make the story as memorable as it is.

Stupid plot
FL is such a hypocrite. She acted like she wanted to be a good teacher, but all she did was being in love with a minor!!! Her character is so weak and annoying.Story telling is bad. I can't seem to believe that they fall in love. Nothing happened that would make it make sense for a teacher to fall for student. Also, she should just quit teaching if her feeling is that easily swayed. She can't seem to be able to control herself, let alone control her students.
FL acting is also plain. She can only make one face, trying to be cute and all. I don't seem to enjoy the show and not recommend anyone wasting time with it.

The not so confident teacher in a reputed school fell in love with her student. The consequences she had to face is picturised in this drama.
Hijrichan is not your usual teacher. She is well aware that her love is a minor. Based on that she takes a sensible practical decision which is not very easy. Her fiance Kawai comes to help her but she refuses to let any other to help her with this. She is well aware that such things have to be handled only by her.
Hijrichan and Kuroiwakun faces opposition from Society and their parents - which is a given considering the situation that the student is a minor. But Hijri's sensible decision calms the situation.
Hijri, Akira, their parents, Kawai, his love interest - every one is right in their own way.
A very sensitive subject relevant in Society handled in a very brilliant way - that's what this drama is.
You need to watch this for the cute love story between Hijri and Akira and how practical they are with their love.

Woooow, this is the first J-drama I watch after a long time and I have to say it has reached my expectatives. Even though the teacher-student romance thing is kinda edgy, the writers could handle it well and gave the story a realistic ending. I predicted that they would end up together right after he turned 18, but it wasn't the case. I love how she continued to pursue her dream as a teacher and went to work abroad, despite everyone was telling her she ''should just get married''. I also found interesting how Haraguchi being Bi was considered normal to all the characters and there was no issue. Her whole character was actually really cool and I liked her initiative.
Another good thing was that there were no hard feelings between the four main characters, like, between the exes, lovers, and stuff. That's really mature. I like how Hijiri and Akira's moms ended up being supportive of their children by the end of the show. Character development was definitely a 10/10!
Tl;dr. An amusing story with interesting and well developed characters, I recommend everyone to watch it, even if the student-teacher concept looks weird. :)

Perfection at its core- The legendary 10/10
I hesitated to watch this, thinking it might be an NTR/cheating drama (which I hate), but not once did it feel that way. The show keeps everything pure and heartfelt. The actors bring their characters to life—you feel every tear, every smile, every moment. Even the side characters are well-developed, making the story richer.
The story is beautiful. It pulls you in and refuses to let go. I lost count of how many times I cried or smiled from the heart. It explores life choices, their impact, and the weight of love in a way that stays with you.
Extra credit to the music, especially Prologue by URU. That song alone elevated this from a 9 to a 10. The second it plays, expect tears.
Nitpick? At times, I didn’t know who to root for. The drama gives every perspective depth, making you care for all of them—even when you don’t want to.
Final verdict: Watch this. You won’t be disappointed

A resilient love
This series was beautifully shot. From the scenery, locations, photography, acting, to the OST... everything was perfect!Though it is a delicate theme, everything was carefully shown and they respected the fact that one of the main characters was under age. They didn't cross the line.
This J-drama has one of the most beautiful OST's I've ever heard in my entire life. The piano songs played by Akira Kosemura made me emotional and I still listen to them often! I was delighted by the quality of this drama. There's a lot of sadness and pain and beautiful scenes and you see how powerful and resilient love can be. It is perfection!
It surely deserves a higher rating.

Realistic age gap trope
I'm a huge sucker for age gap tropes. The only problem within this is that not everything is done right or realistic, which sometimes annoys me. What, I think, captures viewers when it comes to age gap stories is the—always—bittersweet journey in between. The dilemmas, the hurt, the rejection, and the scrutiny. This j-drama captured all of that; we see a woman with the perfect life find love with a student ten years her senior, and like a sensible adult, she runs away from it because she knows it's not appropriate. I love this kind of characters, the rational and sensible ones who truly mirrors what normal people would do—flight than fight. I also love Kuroiwa's development; stubborn, rebellious, and reckless at 15, but matures at 18. I love how he's gotten better at communicating his feelings when he was older, and how at the end, he finally understood and let go.Overall, this j-drama is a gem. Age gap tropes are controversial and not for everyone, and besides, it's hard to find compelling stories like this. But for us fanatics, once we've found hidden treasures like these, it's quite unforgettable.

about the storyline, I'm actually feel a little bit uncomfortable with teacher X students relationship but thanks god both student and teacher look so young especially the teacher.. i love how this drama try to play the viewer's emotion and feeling.. it's like a roller coaster for me.. but sometimes I'm getting bored in the mid of the drama but its getting better when its come to climax.. i think people should this student X teacher genre one.. it's literally different with others because the teacher is girl maybe (?) so no pedophile vibe at all lmao I'm joking.. please watch it if you are bored hehe

How do I even forget this now?
I don’t even know how to describe this drama, it’s uncomfortably, ridiculously, weirdly… good. On paper, the premise should have been an immediate no for me: a 25 year-old teacher, Hijiri, falls for her 15 year-old student, Akira. The age gap, the power dynamic, everything about it screams wrong. And yet… it was gripping. At first, I thought Akira was around 18 and about to head to university. But then the show hits you with the fact that he’s still in middle school, going into high school ,only 15! while she’s in her first year of teaching. They’re both flawed in such human ways:
Akira isn’t your typical male lead. He’s stubborn, impulsive, persistent, sometimes manipulative, exactly the kind of immature determination you’d expect from a teenager convinced he’s in love.
Hijiri isn’t a saint either. She falls for a minor while still trying to be a responsible teacher, which is a contradiction she can’t reconcile. But somehow, I couldn’t hate her, the writing gives her depth and loneliness that explains (though doesn’t excuse) her choices.
One thing the drama does brilliantly is refuse to let anything slide. This isn’t a fluffy forbidden-romance fantasy where everyone smiles at the end. There are real consequences: the police get involved, Hijiri’s career is on the line, and Akira’s mother--who is NOT a villain, steps in to protect her son. Honestly, from any outside perspective, her anger and distrust are completely justified. If the show wasn’t told mostly from Hijiri’s POV, everyone would probably agree she shouldn’t be teaching minors.
The side characters keep the story grounded: Haraguchi is the mature voice of reason, and Niwa also acts as a moral anchor. They’re like the audience’s conscience, reminding us of the reality beneath the romantic tension.
What makes it so addictive is the mix of bittersweet romantic beats and moral discomfort. There are moments where Akira and Hijiri seem genuinely compatible, moments that make you think “right person, wrong time.” If they had met years later, maybe this could have been a healthy love story. But here, in this time, it’s doomed.
The angst is top-tier. Every emotional high is followed by a gut-punch of reality. The cinematography and soundtrack romanticize fleeting moments, only for the narrative to undercut them with consequences. That constant push and pull keeps you conflicted, torn between wanting them apart for their own good and wanting them to find a way to make it work.
In the end, Meet Me After School doesn’t excuse the taboo, it leans into it, explores it, and shows both the emotional allure and the unavoidable damage. It’s a rare drama that forces you to be both a moral judge and an emotional witness. The result is messy, frustrating, and strangely beautiful.
This is Not for the faint of heart or those looking for a comfortable romance, but if you can handle moral gray zones and bittersweet endings, it’s a haunting watch you won’t forget.

Open you heart, and you'll see it has more to offer.
Clarification : First of all, I do like me a good Older FL younger ML love story but of course keep it Legal.Thoughts: Although I do not support it, I can understand it. It was definitely immature of her and him to do such things but the story and writing tackled this situation quite well actually.
This show has much more to it than it says.
The story is surprisingly wholesome and well done, tho I wish some parts were different but it's not my story is it haha.
Overall I'm happy with how it turned out and yes, it was worth my time. Whenever I review something I always think if a show will be worth my time and Chugakusei Nikki certainly was, so do give it a shot!
Story: As mentioned, they tackled it pretty well. I love the wholesomeness of the show and how it can also be very serious when it needs to.
Maybe if they just decided to wait until Akira is 18 and out of high school things would've been different.
I kind of wished to see the main leads relationship more but oh well.
The story of the second leads were developed nicely too, although the second ML was kind of annoying.
Music: I've always liked Japanese songs so I've definitely heard of the singer (Uru) of the main OST.
The music is so good!! Even now I still have it playing in my playlist haha just can't get enough of it!
No complaints on the OST but they did overuse it a little. I wish they had just one other song to fill the gaps instead of repeating it in scenes that were important.
Background music were good, they were subtle but add just enough effect to the scenes.
Casts and Acting:
I LOVE THE CASTS! Arimura Kasumi is just absolutely adorable!
They all did a good job portraying their characters, it didn't forced.
Overview:
Overall it is a wonderful show that will play with your heart. Beautiful shots and beautiful casts too!
Open your heart to it, and give it time.
Don't go in with a decided mind that you're just going to hate.... like why watch it then?
The story definitely has a lot more to offer than what it is so do check it out!
I genuinely enjoyed it and hope this review helps!

I don't know how to feel right now
At the start of the show I felt very uncomfortable that he's underage and their situation was really fucked up. but I found myself ugly crying in the last episode! That's what I love about jdrama the way they portray emotions is so moving.. that still doesn't deny the fact that it was really uncomfortable to watch the first epd before the time skip.Anyways it was better than I expected.
+Love the acting they're amazing!!
