A warm tea for lost souls.

I don't usually review the dramas I watch, but this time I will.

It's impressive how much we can relate to the characters through the details inserted in the script, we can clearly see their ideals and unique personalities. It shows that it's normal to be a young person and not have discovered everything you'd like to, or to already have a career in something and want to change.

The couple's relationship doesn't take a back seat; everyday life is really what heals the viewer. This is how I see love and hope to be able to love, in a calm and confident way. Both characters learned from each other how to be in a loving relationship, using respect and communication above all else.

I really liked the secondary characters like the lady at the hotel who gave precious advice that even I will remember for a long time, sometimes we just need someone out there to listen to us and that's all. Although I think the secondary couple could've been better developed (or had more screen time).

It was so healing to see Xi Fan’s family supporting each other and coming together. Parents really raise us for the world, so that we know how to be here even when they are not. Making our family proud is important, but we have to be proud of our own journey too.

It has personally become one of my favorites. Highly recommended, I hope more people can watch it and feel comforted.

This is the best drama that I’ve ever watched. I went through a very rough March and this drama brought a light to my life. It’s beautiful from the start to the finish. I’ve rewatched this countless times. I can write a 20 page essay on Zhang Linghe and Xu Ruohan’s talent and chemistry. They are pure magic together. Not to be dramatic but if I can see them in another drama together I will die happy. A must watch, a shout from the rooftop, heart happiness, nonstop smiling, pure bliss kind of drama.

Loved everything about this drama

Loved everything about it.
Found myself smiling from start to finish.
Very little, I found myself getting frustrated with.
Didn't have to skip any scenes.
Helped that the ML and FL looked good together.
Rarely watch a drama more than once due to the time commitment, but found myself planning to rewatch this even before it ended.

The Best Thing I've watched!

This drama is medicine for the Soul. It's so healing to watch.

I'm so glad this drama did not need too much over-the-top drama elements, and instead just focused on our main leads personal lives and growth, even showing the quiet moments in-between. I was dreading the big Break-up moment that so often happens in Romance dramas, and am glad it didn't need to happen here. Our leads are just so madly in-love with each other that I can never ever ever ever ever ever imagine when breaking up again. One of the very few romance dramas with an actual "Happily ever after ending", that no one can dispute.

I especially adored the quiet/dull scenes the most, it really lets the characters breathe and think things through before acting or speaking on anything. Also lets the viewer see what the character is feeling at the moment. Just that alone, made the characters feel way more real and relatable to the viewer. I wish more dramas would learn from this and implement similar details. You shouldn't have to shy away from showing dull moments in stories, because real life can be dull sometimes too.

I thoroughly loved and enjoyed every single second of this drama. Will be rewatching this several times over in the future for sure! Fantastic Cast, Fantastic Acting, Fantastic Story and Visuals, Fantastic Music, Fantastic Story & Message 10/10

One of my top show of 2025

Big words for a tittle but this is a fact. I only have a few Chinese dramas that I have watched and this brought so much joy. To begin with I went in blind with the show- let's thank the actor of this show for pulling me in. I stumbled upon a clip of his role here and immediately decided to watch. And I did not regret a single thing. I am so happy to have these modern dramas that really focused on the romance and yes even the heartbreak. The FMC is well writtern, I loved her overall character. The actress did such a good job in giving her character life.

I'll geek about the cinematography, how well done it is. From showing the bright colors of each season to the attention to detail of the colors that the main cast wheres. I loved it all. The music also added that extra dazzale to the show and I have the playlist already on my spotify!

Overall this is a show I will definitely add to my top of 2025. I will also for sure rewatch to to enjoy. To my lovely spring couple this deserves the love and recognition from everyone.

The Best Thing is The Best Drama. Very Beautiful and Healing ??

In my opinion, The Best Thing is the best drama of the year. The plot story is amazing. This healing drama made you want to watch it again and again. Everything is beautiful. Zhang Linghe and Xu Ruohan are perfect duo for the role. They brings out the character really well. All cast and crew are doing great. I can learn many things, even from Xifan family, they are so adorable and very supportive with the girl. This drama brings story how to healed and support each others dream without leaving behind. Their slow burn story is beautifully insane. Hopefully Zhang Linghe and Xu Ruohan will collab again in others project. Their chemistry in undeniable. Perfect duo! I feel healed too after watching this. Thank you for this beautiful drama 🥰💕🌷

The best medicine for a happy heart

I found this drama interesting when I first read its synopsis online. And as I expected, I was hooked just after watching the first episode. I like how Cdrama is always opening new worlds to me, and this is actually the first one related to medicine. I now admire TCM, and much love for the story for making it the central theme.
I was also very much absorbed to read the medicinal plant introduced in each episode. The story isn’t all about butterflies but truly about valuing the stomach that will house the butterflies. 😁 I suddenly felt healthier after finding out so much about TCM.

I like both actors too! watch the girl from Casual & Perfect then the boy form Our Generation. I super love the former while I got bored on the latter. Still, both are very attractive and they fit right in romcoms. Their chemistry is undeniable, they look so good together that it hurts! 😭

As for the romantic flow of events, I also like how the story portrayed adult relationships. High school romance is timeless and will always make us giddy, but this one also successfully made me fall in love with matured people being responsible in their love life as they balance it with work and family commitments. And again, health issues on the side— very adult haha.

all in all, I really love The Best Thing. It’s refreshing, light and super feel-good! A perfect watch after a stressful Kdrama with heavy scenes. This will probably be my new fave Cdrama after Perfect & Casual and Hidden Love. ❤️

“The Best Thing” stands as the finest C-drama I have seen to date.

What truly sets this series apart is its exceptional character development. Every character feels intentional, layered, and deeply human.
The chemistry and performances carry a lot of weight, but what really elevates the drama is its consistency. There’s no dip in quality, no filler episodes that test your patience.
The show is pure excellence, and not for a single moment does the story lose momentum. Every episode feels purposeful, every emotion earned.Simply put, it is the best C-drama I’ve watched to date refined, engaging, and unforgettable.

Cotton candy gazes of longing!

The series *The Best Thing* airing on iQiyi right now is 100% sweet *Cotton Candy Gazes* full of longing. So many butterflies! 🦋 This show is a treasure trove of green flags—thoughtful, honey-dripping 🍯 conversations that radiate genuine care and kindness. Zhang Ling He and Xu Ruo Han really shine in these roles, bringing a warmth and sincerity that makes every interaction feel magical. Every scene feels like a dream, with rainbow-filtered cherry blossoms 🌸 and pure, dreamy escapism.

What’s so refreshing is how the male lead and female lead communicate: they listen deeply, show sincere concern for each other’s well-being, and their interactions are layered with warmth and respect. 🥰 The scriptwriter does an amazing job of making even the most mundane exchanges—like those between a traditional Chinese medicine doctor and his patient—feel intimate and meaningful. ❤️ Their chemistry is so natural that these conversations, while entirely appropriate, come across as irresistibly sweet. It’s a masterclass in how to write dialogue that feels both real and magical. 🫠

And can we talk about Zhang Ling He’s eyes for a second? He spends a good chunk of the first four episodes wearing a doctor’s mask, yet every nuanced emotion comes through so clearly—whether it’s a subtle raise of his brow or the way his eyes crinkle. It’s masterful acting, even when half his face is covered.

Normally, I’m not a fan of overly soft filters, but here, the cinematographer uses it so intentionally. It creates this fairytale-like atmosphere that matches the ethereal vibe of the show—and honestly, it suits Zhang Ling He perfectly. His otherworldly looks make him feel like he was born for xianxia dramas (I’ve been a fan since his second lead role opposite Dylan Wang in *Love Between Fairy and Devil*), but seeing him in a modern drama is a whole new experience.

In xianxia, his characters often have the luxury of immortality and multiple lifetimes to relive and relove their destined partners. But here, in *The Best Thing*, his character feels so much more relatable—a human with just one shot at love, one life to get it right. It’s a refreshing change, and it adds a layer of urgency and tenderness to his performance that makes this role feel uniquely special.

I’ve been looking forward to this drama for a while, and it hasn’t disappointed. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, visually stunning, and full of heart, this is it. Highly recommend!

LITERALLY THE BEST THING

I’ve never fallen in love with a drama so quickly. What made this one truly unforgettable was the way the actor looked at the actress, his eyes were full of love, and you could feel every ounce of it through the screen. The way he gazed at her gave anyone who is watching major butterflies. I don’t think I’ll ever get over this drama. It’s easily the best I’ve seen in a very long time, and that’s saying a lot coming from someone who’s incredibly picky about what to watch.

Thanks for handling our hearts with so much care

This drama was like a warm balm healing a bad cold , cure to a hearbroken fever, one day at a time. First of all, lead pair are beautiful together, both playful, both adorable, both hardworking and focused, both pretty clear-headed and both supported with just the right little nudge by their immediate families (her parents/ his grand pa!) to help keep them going on their paths.

Secondly, The Best Thing is visually quite an aesthetic production, prettiness decorating every scene; there are flowers and pastel hues and smiling faces even during adversity, it's all so comforting! It leaves you with a calm countenance, a pleasant awareness of the drama and of yourself, a soothing happiness, a subtle smile. I would like to be at peace like this often quite frankly! This is the lasting impression of the drama even months later!

Thirdly, overall it's a really good cast, the main couple are gorgeous, they have a palpable emotional connection, the parents/ grandpa are simply adorable, showing some rare dynamics like only the husband knows how to cook! The friends on both sides, at the hotel and the restaurant, are well written as well, they have their own arcs without imposing too much on the main storyline.

Lastly comes the story ! Traditional Chinese Medicine is a winning theme, it surprises me that many people still don't realise how our body stores emotions in ways that it may eventually start manifesting as an illness. I really appreciate how the drama focuses on healing, the research put on natural medicinal decoctions as well as foods that can support the healing process! It is also commendable that unlike portraying blind bias for only one medical approach, western medicine is used as an intervention during a complication. It is not a fight, but a respect given to both traditional and modern medicine, recognising their unique importance.

My only complaint is that Music could have been better. TBT deserves all the love it gets for handling our hearts so gently.

A sweet cheesy but watchable RomCom with good onscreen chemistry from the main CP.

The Best Thing is a RomCom drama that starts with Zhang Ling He and Xu Ruo Han about a doctor a doctor-patient relationship that turns romantic, and they eventually marry.

The main CP's acting is mediocre, but they have decent onscreen chemistry. Their chemistry is cheesy, and they have little drama or conflict. It is watchable and cute.

Synopsis: The hotel room manager, Shen Xi Fan, is a workaholic. She suffers from insomnia and migraines due to her high-intensity work, so she sees a Chinese medicine doctor and meets the gentle and handsome Chinese medicine doctor He Su Ye at the tail end of his youth. However, she often forgets to take the medicine due to her busy work. She always causes He Su Ye headaches due to her forgetfulness. Originally, the relationship between the two was limited to a doctor-patient relationship. Still, they live in the same community. It was due to the unexpected encounters, again and again, that the love between the two slowly sprouted. Shen Xi Fan is cautious because of a failed first love. His first love, Su Ye, abandoned him and has closed his heart since then. Gradually, Shen Xi Fan grows closer and closer to He Su Ye. In the "awkward" stage of his interactions with Shen Xi Fan, He Su Ye gradually understands the true meaning of love and begins to pursue love. He Su Ye's determination and hard work in the cause of traditional Chinese medicine also guided Shen Xi Fan to recognize herself and finally find her perfect match.
