It is a must watch!
The cemistry between the actors is very good! The Storyline is very good and very interesting!
I've rewatched 4 times now and I'm still as invested as I was the first time I watched this series.
I think I'm speaking for most people if i say that this is one of the (if not the) best BL series of all time!
There are many spicey scenes and a huge plot twist that I (personally) never saw coming!
Definetely give this a watch! :D
I'm bad at writing reviews sooo... this one is very short but i wanted to give my opinion to this one.

VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED!! Only watch this show with a friend
I'm not gonna waste words on this show so I'm only going to say four things:1. THIS SHOW IS REPETATIVE AS FUCKKKKK!!! EVERY EPISODE HAS THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENING!! They're mad at each other, they make up, they get made again.
2. Never have I been happier to seen two people breakup. My smile was bigger than the amount of hate MAME should get. One of the only positives in this show is that I feel really bad for Tar, but his scenes before episode 10 are skippable. He needs therapy though.
3. Another positive and reason why this show higher than a 2 is cause if Techno. Only person that was good, kind hearted, and funny.
4. The Llhong twist ate only cause I lowkey liked him at first. Another reason this show higher than a 2 actually. Llhong need jail time. Save your tears for another day!! I did love him punching Type though cause Type needed a taste of his own medicine, but he can't choke someone to save his life.
*There's this song that plays at the end of the episode when something happens and ot lowkey eats. I dance to it all the time. One of the few things I enjoyed.*

My best BL series ever.
OMG, what can I say. Tharn&Type were chemistry goals. Their make out sesh-es never felt boring or contrived. It was hawt, steamy and everything you hope for. They both fell hard. Tharn was just more vocal while Type was more demonstrative (jealous). There were some questionable scenes to start but I forgive them for that because I ended up absolutely loving their relationship.I have rewatched so many times and will keep rewatching.
PS. I have seen all the recent MewGulf fan service shenanigans/situations come out so I’m not bothered about that nor will I stop rewatching because of it, as I’m not watching them as MewGulf instead I am watching them as TharnType. I suggest a lot of BL fans follow this mindset to avoid feeling disappointed about there favorite BL couple who seem real due to fan service.

I have some complaints, but overall I loved this show!
I loved this show! I binged it in only a couple days because I couldn't stop watching. I only have a couple complaints. First, I hate how quickly they became sex friends. Literally all in the same episode scenes back to back. Type asks Tharn to have sex only one time as repayment, they have a little moment with Tharn confiding about his past, and then the literal next scene is them getting tested and now their are sex friends. I really felt like their should have been at least an episode between. Like Type can't stop thinking about it and caves. It just made it feel like scenes were missing when I watched it. Another complaint is how the writers tried to make me sympathize with Lhong. I'm sorry I dont care how fucking lonely he was, he literally paid 3 guys to gang-rape a 10th grader, tried to pass it off as if Tar wanted it, and then almost killed Type. Nothing he can do or say will ever make any of that ohkay. There is nothing the writers can put in, that will make my sympathize with someone who would do that. I also was kinda disappointed that they teased other couples, but it never went anywhere. I'm just holding out hope that maybe they are in season 2.Despite all my complaint this series was amazing and I loved it despite its flaws. Definitely one I will probably rewatch.

ah yes, tharntype. the bl fan favorite.
! TRIGGER WARNING ! SEXUAL ASSAULT !
now i myself can't always be as hard on it as i ought, because there's many things they did with the couple that i'd wanna see more of in bl, but there's no way i'll tolerate people downplaying the many issues with this drama. just because they did some things right, doesn't mean this series can be excused, as the mistakes they have made are of the awfullest kind.
type's homophobia is explained to be rooted in trauma of sexual assault, which is a very serious and tragic topic that needs to be talked about more. i wish this would've been an opportunity to do exactly that, but instead they downplayed the extent of it and had tharn FORCE HIMSELF ON HIM MULTIPLE TIMES and MOLEST HIM IN HIS SLEEP which was portrayed as 'harmless teasing'. just seeing this written down like this is making me uncomfortable, but the writers apparently thought it was completely okay and made it happen on screen, resulting in a weird relationship and never addressing it again. type's trauma was also treated like being with a man could suddenly erase it. that is not how it works and just utterly wrong. to this day, i can't believe they got away with things this severe, just because they got pretty people with great chemistry to act it out.
their relationship later is, like i mentioned, also pretty toxic on both sides, although i have to admit that the amount of it was only realistic for those circumstances and it improves a bit throughout the show. take that as you will. it doesn't make up for anything, they never became a healthy couple.
so what made this drama so popular despite it being pretty much unacceptable?
easy - mew and gulf, romantic and sexual tension, one partner seemingly devoted and the other savage and bratty and lots of looks of love made people look past those 'flaws'. tonhon chonlatee got rightfully dragged, but barely anyone has that same energy for tharntype, because the force behind it knew what people wish to see more of and put it in there along with their wrongdoing.
please open your eyes. you can like what's good about this drama, i can't fully hate it either, but matter of fact is: it is very, very, very problematic.

toxic love story
I love watching romantic stories with intriguing dynamics or let's say with a level of toxicity involved. I do not think tharntype had a healthy relationship and if anything I believe type needs to see a therapist. Secondly I was disappointed that it wasn't clarified that what happened to type was doing of pedophile and not a gay man. The conslusion should have been more centered around type's character development and not about who he merries or fucks. Also can we at least agree that Tharn has a manipulative streak that brings out the worst in both of them?

It's not a good show, but man is it funny.
As a serious show? It's not good. They could have totally done more with the internalized homophobia bit but they just didn't. Instead, Type never really seems to get over his homophobia, and claims to hate all gays except for Tharn which doesn't really solve the issue here.As a comedy? It's kind of great. The acting isn't the best, the writing is much worse. The sound effects went crazy for no reason. Questionable consent throughout the first season but MAN did they mic them up for those make out scenes. Why? I don't know. But I did have a good laugh at it. The conflicts are repetitive and unnecessary. We get it, you're homophobic.
I can't really recommend anyone to watch this seriously. It's not good. But man, it's fun to make fun of.

Hot, Steamy and Toxic Love & Hate Relationship which may or may not annoy you
There are Pros and Cons for this series and I'm going to mention first the Cons for this BL Thai drama. I'm also going to make this review 'short and simple' in order to not spoil the series. The CONS...
1. The No consent at the beginning of the show.
2. Tharn's attitude (He's homophobic but he has his reasons for this although there were some moments in the series in which he was really selfish and arrogant)
3. The whole homophobic guy x gay guy trope which is overly being used in most BL shows, novels, webtoons, mangas, manhwas etc.
4. The toxic relationships in the show
5. The excessive fanservice
6. There's nothing unique about the plot because it's the typical university setting / theme
7. There are some scenes that I find to be unecessary
The PROS...
1. The actors are not holding back especially with the hot and steamy scenes and it doesn't look awkward or stiff
2. The acting
3. The pacing of the story is good
4. The balance between the comedic scenes and the dramatic / angst scenes are good
5. It's good that the story wasn't dragged because it will only bore the audience or viewers
P.S. : I actually prefer the special episode for this series and it's better if you'll end up only watching that special episode after season 1 because season 2 will only disappoint you and it will ruin your ship here. Personally, it would've been better if the producers or writers only ended up with the special episode rather than making a season 2 of this because season 2 basically ruined the ending of the special episode or rather the whole point of the series.
In conclusion, it's still a fun watch even if there were scenes that may or may not disappoint you. There are CONS but if you like to see the progress of the main couple's relationship, feel free to watch. This show is an average for me but what really caught my attention was the acting. It's good and it will not disappoint you. This is a must watch for those who are looking for a hot, comedic and dramatic BL drama... :)

Far from the best
I have no idea why it is so popular to be honest. I never saw the appeal. Too many things bothered me about Tharntype, the top five of which are:1) Man, people walk so slow in this world.
2) The homophobe-turned-gay trope is getting very tiresome.
3) I could not finish watching that scene where Type was literally having a nightmare about being sexually abused as a kid without knowing that Tharn was molesting him while he was asleep. I actually closed my eyes and waited for it to finish. Jfk, this MAME girl has issues.
4) The two leads need to up their game in the acting department. Mew was stone-faced nearly 80% of his screen time, and Gulf acts like he never really was sure of what he's doing. I literally haven't seen him do anything apart from having that irritated look on his face.
5) Mew looks like he already finished school 10+ years ago, lmao. It would take me a lot of convincing before I can believe that this guy can actually play a senior in college.
There are some saving graces though:
1) I loved Mild's version of Techno. I think he is the most seasoned actor among the leads, and he shows it well. He knows that Techno is mainly created for comic relief, and he delivered.
2) I appreciate Tum and Tar's story, which left me with a lot of questions when I watched Love by Chance. I actually preferred Kok and Hiter over Title and Cooheart in LBC, and they were good acting wise. The chemistry between them though seems forced, and thinking about these two caring for each other is quite disturbing since technically they are family.
Other points:
1) A lot of sub-plots in the series seems forced. For instance, Lhong's 180-degree turn was quite a nice touch, but he literally was absent throughout most of the series. It would have been great if he maintained a constant presence throughout the show instead of just appearing near the end to do that one big scene. The girl who 'slept' with Type was another example. Clearly she was there to make Type doubt his sexuality and after 1-2 eps, she was gone. The cameo from Pete and Tin also never made any sense. It would have been great if the scene that immediately followed Pete walking away from Tharn and Type was the same scene where he was run over by Ae. That would have been epic; it would have brought the entire story full circle.
2) I have never been a fan of this trope where they introduce a character in one ep and then suddenly eliminate him/her after s/he serves his/her intended purpose. Thai drama writers really need to stop making their supporting characters seem disposable. Pretty much 90% of the supporting characters in TharnType was treated like this: Klui and Seo (who were so funny and could have been used well!), Tharn's ex, and the same guys I mentioned in point #1.
3) Tharn's needlessly long and slow-motioned crying scenes were pure cringe.
This is the second series from MAME I've seen that was a huge letdown. I should really stop buying the hype when choosing which BLs to watch.

Should you watch this?
If you are a fan of LGBTQ this series is highly recommended. I myself at first was a bit backward about this series but then gradually the plot began more likeable, i'd say. Gulf portrayed the character of Type in the best possible way and it was just truely commendable. As for Mew, he too did an amazing job with his character Tharn. The side characters added some comedy to the plot which made the series better, especially the character of TechNo. The series had quite some ups and downs but the romance and dialogues made-up to it. I won't say much, but the series for me was a must watch!!Was this review helpful to you?

The bad outweights the good
I can understand how some people might like this show, it does have some strong points, but the story is so problematic that I had to force myself to watch the second half of the episodes just to be done with it.TharnType has a good cast and the show is well done from a production standpoint. The chemistry between Mew and Gulf if off the charts, which explains why they are one of the biggest pairing in thai BL. The scenes where Tharn and Type are together and in peace are great. Unfortunately, these moments are rare and involved in bigger overall problems of the show. I don’t know if I can say that I like any of the characters (maybe Champ).
I can’t get 100% on board with the main couple because of the night Type got drunk in Tharn bad, early in the season. Yes, Type was being homophobic and an idiot for awhile, but Tharn did go to far by taking advantage of unconscious Type. It becomes even worse after we find out about Type’s past. I don’t feel like Tharn ever really tried to apologize for what happened that night.
This show has a major problem with romanticizing relationships with non consensual moments. At some points I almost felt like the show was implying that it was okay to do things if the other person didn’t say no too much. This is a show that centers around the sexual assault of two, I’d say three, teenagers, and the issue is not handled well at all. I can’t understand how TharnType manages to give a free pass to two abusers, that don’t face any consequences. San took advantage of younger Tharn and the only thing he got was a single punch from his still best friend, which in turn is the victim’s older brother. Thorn knows that what happened was wrong but he still forces Tharn to be around San. Regarding Lhong, I don’t even have word to explain how poorly the story fails to address what he did and why nothing happens to him.
PS: I have to highlight how this show manages to hard two terrible brothers. Thorn, besides his involvement who Sam, is also quite creepy around Thanya. And Technic is also a terrible brother for what he did to Techno.

TharnType! Yes
Second BL I've ever watch and honestly not disappointed! A must-watch!!This series had me on edge I totally loved it. It had some happy, funny, sad, stressful moments all over the place which made it so much better. There was still a lot of Toxic behavior that was promoted but overall it does deserve the rate that I gave it. Plus, it was spicy (if you know what I mean~) and that was certainly something else ;)
Opinions about some of the characters...
Type: I do understand that he had whole internal homophobia (cuz of the thing that happened) but the whole "I don't like men but you" thingy was a bit no, he really needed to come to terms with it. Also, he was REALLY toxic for most of the series. I get it, some couples may have some fights but this was not it most of the time. He was always the one making a fuss about little misunderstanding without looking at the whole picture. Despite that, I believe his character came to become much better towards the end and I really liked his development.
Tharn: Listen this man was a puppy and I loved it! However, sir needs to step up and stand up for himself a lot more, the way Type talked to him sometimes was not it and he just stood there and apologized like no ma'am. Still, he was the sweetest boyfriend ever.
Techno: BEST BFF!! He a homie if I've ever seen one. I love him and that's that.
So TharnType was the most toxic couple I've seen in BL and we do not condone that type of behavior but I really liked the series if we moved past those moments.
