as someone whose a huge fan of the novel series
I actually saw this drama first a year ago maybe..
I don't even remember how I came across this story... I was just looking to watch something to kill my Time so I ended up watch the anime version of this and later the whole novel series upto the 3rd book and a few chapters here and there of 4th and 5th book ...
So as a huge fun I definitely had quite a few expectations from this but was sadly disappointed not much tho I did watch the whole thing from start till finish but definitely won't re-watch since it's so long ...
the anime had a lot of details and beautiful setting .. it makes sense the show was not able to match that level as it would require huge amount of money probably... so I was initially ok with that but as a fan I definitely expected some set to match with the animated version but unfortunately it did not and then we have the changed storyline...like his background..his past life .. I definitely would have loved if they kept it but instead it was some idk magic book types which gave him knowledge on his mechanical weapons..
the casting was not bad and this was definitely the show that made me a fan of the ml xiao zhan ..
Ig the overall acting could have been better maybe?
in the novel as well as anime the fl was sure a little childish but that's because she was a child they were probably hardly 14 .. but the actors are definitely older than the characters they r supposed to portray

okayish just has no wow factor
firstly, i have to say that i didnt read the original chinese book or the manhua, so this is my first time watching this kind of stuff.secondly, the plot:
honestly, i have to say that this drama is perfect for younger audiences, like 8-16 yo (not that i am old lol, i rewatched his for the third time already)
the plot is really straightforward and predictable, although there are some things that are quite interesting, such as the plot of xiao wu's poison. there are a lot of dialogue in this drama, and i have to skip some of the dialogues to continue. what i really look forward to in this drama are the fighting scenes and the characters. i absolutely loved the academy's friendship and the humor together, espcially the scenes with ou si ke and ma hong jun. them acting on stage to earn money in ep 26 was really funny and amusing, including there fight with xue beng.lol
acting/cast:]
it is my first time seeing all of the actors other than xiao zhan(the untamed) and i have to say, the director really picked the right actors for the roles, and i cant imagine anyone else acting the role. the acting are on pare except for some scenes ( crying scenes where i cant feel sad because they arnt acting like they are sad, lol)
character:
i love all the characters with all my heart, however, my fav have to be ou si ke, ma hong jun, dai mu bai and finally zhu zhu qing. loved the team dynamic and they all had some sort of character development (dai mu bai being proud and arrogant to being a gd grp leader) i also really love the teachers and the other characters, like both of shi lan ke's teachers, and du dou luo, with his honest and blunt replies. i honestly think that all the characters had equal screen time and it is really enjoyable
i really liked xiao wu at first, thinking that she is naive and really cute, and really liked to fight, at aorung ep 30, i started disliking her, she wanted to heal the rivarly between the beast and the hun shi, yes, and she loves tang san to a point it is annoying and make her seem weak af. she kept saying,' where tang san is, where i am' literally every fucking time and im so annoying. like pls STOP. and tang san,OMG, i dont really dislike him, but the problem with him is that he is to perfect, he is too kind, honest, righteous, and it makes his character flat af. and whenever, he is talkign to his elders about 'if its my father i dont know what to do''you cant do this' blah blah blah. like boy, i dont want to hear your pep talk.
* main disapponitment... the fighting scenes are too simple, althoght the cgi and the concept of the dou luo continese of the soul rings and soul beasts are cool, i feel like in that competition, they defeated the competitiors too easily, like it ends so fast.
the music also are limited and starets playing at the compeltly worng time lol.

Suitable for all audiences, everyone in my family loved it!
I am writing this as I listen to my younger siblings bicker about how Tang San could easily defeat all of the powerful good guys if he turns evil. This drama as what my title says, is very well-written because it caters to all audiences. Everyone loves it, especially the kids. They can't help but draw some similarities with Tang San, and even demands that the second season as soon as it was over. Today, we are at our third re-watch. And it's not annoying at all, it helps with their Chinese too. The visual effects of this drama is so good and the colors are so vivid that on Ultra HD TV it's so mesmerizing. Perhaps that's one of the reason why kids are so drawn to it. Better by leaps compared to the CGI produced on the current dramas lately. As for the actors, I am well impressed. I have watched The Untamed before and know that Xiao Zhan is a very good actor. In this drama, he has shown youthfulness and a hint of stubbornness and passion. He has brought Tang San to life. And also, how is he so handsome? I am just in awe of how he looks so good on the screen. As for Betty Wu, this is the first I've heard of her. She's cute. Sometimes I find her acting a bit exaggerated, but it's very effective too since her character is a bit childish. The rest of the cast are very good and natural. I really like Ousike and Zhu Zhuqing.
For the storyline, it's very easy to follow but not predictable. Which makes it so good to watch. Every episode keeps you hanging and you will always anticipate the next one. Every episode is eventful and entertaining, you will never get bored at all. I really like the pacing. And I love how there is so many ambiguities in the drama, you wont know whether a person is truly evil or not. In that aspect, it reflects the gray area within all of us. I like that. It sets an example to the children to not cast a character as purely evil, but will show some redeemable qualities.
It deserves all the hype. Go watch it and share with your family...

Binge watched, this is such an entertaining drama.
I enjoyed it as a light watch, binge watched it in two days, it’s not a very complicated story, the acting was top notch! and the visual effects are so good! for a cdrama I was surprised as my issue with fantasy cdramas is always the visual effects ! I don’t know the original work so I am not going to compare, but I loved the world building and the different kinds of soul masters especially the douluo soul masters (those will appear in later episodes) very interesting, i will probably read the original novel next I loved tang san so much he was so gentle, kind, brave and loyal. The relationship between tang san and his master is my favorite relationship. And as supporting characters I loved osk and rongrong.

It is a story about loyalty and friendships
The drama doesn't focus on romantic love so much which is what I love! The acting of most of the casts are good! Xiao Zhan's acting as usual is very very good! His costumes are much better looking and it becomes him! The ending is not so good though, hopefully they will have the second season soo! with all the casts except for the female lead. She is okay but I'd prefer someone else if I can help it!The CGI were also good! I wish the female lead act more like a mature girl! It is good that Xiao Zhan treated her as a sister rather that as a love interest.

Could be better!
The story is literally so interesting, really my cuppa tea drama. Things about Soul Beasts and Soul Masters are awesome and it will be fancy to be discussed. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it's not well-executed, especially the plot until it felt boring. Some parts feel so flat, even for the fight scene, there's no tension. I don't know how to explain it, but it feels like some things weren't put in the right place. However, the friendship that grows between them is really good. It's just so heartwarming to see. Also, a big thumbs up for the characters' development of those side characters. I don't know why it's always the side characters who got great development instead of the main character in cdrama lol. Both Tang San and Wu are doing well from the start tho.
Yet, the drama is still worth watching and I really wish for a sequel, because the ending can't even be accepted as an open ending. ㅠㅠ

Youth inspiration drama
When the domineering Tang San returns, no matter how difficult life is, it's better than a young man raising his eyes. The tenacious young man set off again and saw the bright sunshine in Douluo Continent again."I won't take the path you choose. Then find your own way!"
"Strength should not be cold-blooded. Those who only attack the weak are cowards. The strong should be born to protect the weak."
Douluo is not a romance or love story but for a group of young people who didn’t give up any obstacles when you move forward. Also it shows the relationship between Mentor and his followers/students, mutual trust and strength of unity. Kind of motivation drama. Some lines are so powerful and should keep in notes for our life. Background music is sometimes weird but all round is still fine. OST by Protagonist Xiao Zhan is the best in this drama, Douluo Continents.
A star male protagonist, Tang San's charm is irresistible
Twin Martial Soul Geniuses Appear, Blue Silver Haotian Changes the Sky, the genius boy is full of soul power.

There was no character that really stood out for me as they each had their own strengths and weaknesses, but I have to admit that Xiao Wu became annoying after causing Tang San so much trouble because of her insistence to tag along wherever he goes. I was cringing every time she flutters her eyelashes at the oblivious Tang San. Surprisingly, I liked Lan De and Xiao Gang as the Founder and Grandmaster of Shrek Academy, how their teachings greatly influenced the "Seven Devils" in their quest for knowledge. Doulou Continent is not just a fantasy drama about spirit cultivation, but about found family and lasting friendships.

Good drama, still waiting for season 2 !
The only thing I didn't like is the rushed ending and the utterly short confrontation between his dad Tang Hao and the chief of Martial Soul Hall, Bi Bi Dong. It would've been better if they had shown a bit of showdown between the two most powerful Grand Soul Land Masters. that could explain how they got away instead of immediately showing the last scene of Xiao Wu's farewell to Tang San. As for the ending, it was a damn cliffhanger. I wish they could have made Tang San wake up, recover from his injuries and allowed some of them to have a chat about what Xiao Wu needs to do and why she needs to leave temporarily. That would've been the perfect finale towards season 2.Well apart from those things I mentioned above, this was a good drama to watch. I liked the character development and their adventures. This is the kind of story that I'm fond of in terms of how a hero progresses with his extraordinary skills and how his friends mature along the way. I loved how Tang San was totally protective and devoted to Xiao Wu that he would be in a towering rage whenever she gets hurt or in danger. The loyalty and passion is there. Tang San's master, Xiao Gang was a fine character too. He had noble characteristics, despite having two soul rings only. He had served as Tang San's father figure, guiding him along the way and helped other students understand their true potential and value teamwork. Truly a good teacher.
Not sure if there will really be a season 2 for this, as Xiao Zhan's schedule for drama projects is fully booked. I saw in kisskh a season 2 teaser poster, but the female lead is no longer Betty Wu. No other casts are shown. I hope they do consider doing the 2nd season.

This is such a good drama!
When i watch the trailer, i plan not to watch this because i think it's boring. But when i watch it i did not regret it, because the plot is amazing and the characters are played well. From episode 1 till episode 40 i'm into this drama because it's not boring at all. However, this drama left us hanging, I'm so curious to what will happen next to the characters. I wish they would make a sequel for this drama. You should probably watch this drama if you like fantasy / wuxia historical drama. This drama also have light romance, if you like that without so much romance and cheesy couple. Was this review helpful to you?

Dropped. Did not do the donghu justice
I watched this because the Soul Land donghua is literally my fave donghua of all time. I had high hopes because I’m also a HUGE fan of cdramas. I literally live to watch it. But I could not get past episode 4. I disliked that they decided to change that he reincarnated and instead let his dad teach him the skills he learnt in his previous life. It actually entirely defeats the purpose of Tang San being overly smart and talented and then using that knowledge in that world. It didnt make sense for either of his parents to hand those techniques down because in the world of soul land, only Soul Masters and Soul beasts are a way of power. I felt that it didn’t bring out how unique he really is in the fact that he actually lived another life. I’m not even sure if he has the ambition to create the Tang sect like he did in his previous life but I didn’t stay to find out. The forest was lacklustre.lt looked like a normal forest. I’m not even sure if I’m the later episodes they entered the forest deeper and the trees and plants looked different ( I know in his dreams the forest looked how it did in the donghua but when he went to get his first soul beast it was just a plain bland forest). Xiao Wu. Xiao Wu from the start was not giving anything. She was definitely not the same like the donghua and I actually got irritated with her at one point. I felt that they way too quickly forced them to be together. Sure in the donghua it’s different but they were small kids and she just seemed better and he even seemed more mature as a kid in the donghua than he did in the drama. I have no other way of saying it. I felt she was too childish and he just immediately accepted her for the sake of the plot. that’s what it looked like to me. I have no hate towards Xiao Zhan. I like him as an actor I just felt that they didn’t do the donghua justice by making this. Was this review helpful to you?

The fever dream of fever dreams
Ok, so its been a while since I watched this drama, but I want to write a review now, so here we go....For context, I binged this drama nonstop for a few days almost immediately after it ended. I mean it. I spent about three days with no sleep because I was sucked into this very weird drama, and therefore neglected by educational obligations, which definitely came back to bite me.
Due to watching this drama as a substitute to sleep, once I had finished, the thought of it genuinely felt like one big fever dream. I remember it, but gosh it was so weird, and definitely not my preferred genre.
THE STORY:
The plot of this drama runs on the found family trope, in which a group of strangers meet, and gradually grow into the closest people to each other.
I believe that the most addicting aspect of this drama is the world building. This detailed, and completely separate from reality, world was built with its own rules, problems, and concepts. in Douluo continent, the people spend their entire lives cultivating themselves, in the hopes of becoming soul masters. there are also rules dictating how you gain soul rings, how many you can have, and when you can collect specific types. all these rules make the plot more addicting and interesting to watch because you are always learning, along with the cast, about their very different capabilities and accomplishments.
one annoying thing is that the ending was annoying. after bingeing so many episodes, the ending just gave me more questions, which isn't an issue at all if there was already a season 2 released. but there isn't, and the questions therefore remain at the back of my head.
THE ACTING/CAST:
now that I think about it, the acting was pretty bad across the whole cast, but whilst watching, it went over my head. in the whole main cast, the acting ability was pretty weak, but that being said, they all did perfectly embody their characters. so at the end of the day, it still worked.
the main male lead, Tang San, played by Xiao Khan was probably my favourite character. He was kind, humble, genuine and of course attractive. He had the typical story of a male lead that began as a weak, unacknowledged character, into a strong, powerful soul master, because of his refusal to give up. He makes mistakes, is not conceited or arrogant ever. the perfect male lead honestly.
An issue I had would be a combination of his voice dubber, and the sound quality. His voice just sounded off, like it was recorded in an empty room.
the main female lead, Xiao Wu, played by Wu Xuan Yi was my favourite female character, which I understand to be an unpopular opinion. this character is perfectly defined by the phrase 'you either hate her, or love her'. she is clingy, very bubbly, and has this almost childlike naivety to her. these qualities can pass of as annoying or endearing depending on how you view the story as a whole.
I loved her pretty much from the start, and never saw her as annoying once. her clingy nature never felt forceful and was definitely reciprocated by Tang San. he was just as attached to her, and had a deep bond with her. Her childlike naivety was also endearing as her intentions where genuine, and honestly introduced a reasonable and controversial question; is it right to kill animals for your own personal gain, to become a soul master?
THE MUSIC:
Not much to comment on the music.
REWATCH VALUE:
I don't typically rewatch dramas, but I definitely see myself going back to a lot of enjoyable scenes.
to conclude, I really enjoyed the experience of watching this drama, although I don't necessarily understand it.
