Tugs at the heart
This starts off as a send up of Boys Over Flowers. There's the poor scholarship girl at a prestigious private school who is bullied. F4 is now A3. There's even a guy who sheds a tear while playing his violin in public spaces. But then the students at Seuli High School start to figure out that they are characters in a graphic novel. A writer controls what they say or do. Most of them are horrified when they learn they aren't even one of the main characters. That's when this parody of K-drama rom-coms turns into a bittersweet reflection on fate, memory, and autonomy.
Extraordinary You made me giggle, and it made me cry, which doesn't happen too often.

Embracing Responsibility: How Haru and Dan-oh Teach Us to Shape Our Own Destiny.
However, the 'trumpet creeper' mentioned in their previous literary work is utterly nonsensical if it were to be transformed into an actual comic ( out of this series ). I mean, why would the author choose to eliminate the main character? It defies all logic. I wholeheartedly agree with Dan-oh's assessment that this writer is abysmal, and it's highly unlikely that anyone would appreciate their book in the real world. How amusing! I must admit, though my own words may lack coherence, they too fail to make any sense.Ah, but this series is simply exquisite. I have indulged in its brilliance time and time again, and each viewing leaves me in tears when Haru vanishes. The pain of Dan-oh resonates within me, causing tears to flow incessantly. Yet, I find myself laughing and smiling like a fool whenever Haru and Dan-oh share a moment. It's as if all else fades away, and I am fully present, basking in the sheer joy of that very instant.
I have pondered this extensively and reached a profound conclusion: the writer is akin to a GOD, the characters represent us, and the scenes embody fate. Only when we become aware of our own existence (awakening to our oneness) can we triumph over the harsh realities of the world and live happily ever after, just like Haru and Dan-oh. Fate is merely an illusion, ingrained in us from a tender age. "Do not fret, remain resilient, and venture into the darkness, for God shall safeguard you." But why? No one will come to your rescue; you alone bear the responsibility for your own well-being, and you alone are accountable for everything that befalls you. Dan-oh and Haru assumed responsibility for their own lives and transformed their entire world. It is truly a beautiful notion. I adore it.
By relinquishing the notion of a protective God or an external ruling force, we can truly embrace the responsibility for our own actions and cease attributing everything to the whims of fate. We are the architects of our own reality, crafting our own world. However, I am uncertain if any of you will grasp the essence of my words. If you do, I wish you the best of luck and send you an abundance of love, accompanied by a warm embrace.

as of the 25th episode…
i really enjoy this drama i love the twists and turns the story has taken up to this point and i am really invested in the plot. the music is really amazing i really enjoy the osts for this drama and another thing i like is that there is instrumental music as well. i feel like the casting was cone really well and i really really really enjoy the plot. I feel like i have never watched a show like this before with this kind of storyline.however there is one thing that i came to say and that is that I really dislike beak kyungs character.
SPOILERS BELOW
he really pisses me off when he says things like “ you’re just an extra” or “im the protagonists” “you cant escape your setup” and “you were made to be with me that is something you cannot change” then turns around and says that eun dan oh is using her setup as an excuse and whatever the hell he says. his character is so infuriating and he only exists to hurt everyone else and gets mad. he only wants to have eun dan oh because she was originally his and was being taken away from him. so controlling. it feels like he is the only one that agrees with the current storyline and setup that eun dan oh and him belong together and the only person that is acting according to the way he feels in this entire story is him so it feels like hes the writer. tho that is probably wrong.
however, i cant wait to see how this plays out though and haru is a cutie

Who Thought A "Main Character Syndrome" Drama Is A Good Idea?
The female lead is probably one of the most insufferable characters you might encounter in a drama. Despicable and repulsive through and through. Props to the actress for putting in the effort to sell it as such. The drama was destined to fail with how they adapted it. It suffered from the same problems most long-running webtoons suffer from, by over bloating the material with events, abandoning plotlines and threads along the way and lacking coherent structure as it progresses. Unfortunately, they forgot to accommodate to what a live action format might mandate. The leads, Joo Da and her love interest, were an example, they were used to kick start the series of events just to be worth less than a background white noise later on, despite their core involvement in the concept early on. The concept had a lot of potentials but the end product barely serviced a story, let alone, something watchable. Was this review helpful to you?

An extraordinary series
I'm going to keep it short. This series has a very interesting plotline and interesting world which is what got me hooked in the first place. I think they execute it very well although some plotpoints could be explained better - but it did not bother me.
The cast is so great, i loved seeing every interaction between the side characters but also between the main characters. there wasn't a single moment where i was bored or indifferent towards what the characters were feeling. I felt very deeply for these characters and wanted so badly for them to have the happy end they wanted and deserved.
Go watch this!!! It's a classic and a staple K-drama for a good reason!!!

Simply Extraodinary!
Extraordinary you will always be in my top 5 Kdramas! It was so refreshing and everything about it was captivating from start to end. Most of the actors didnt have much experience at the time this drama was filmed, so it was impressive how good their performances were. The plot is just so interesting. It has a common story of "fighting to change your fate" but it's done perfectly. It's very funny, interesting, dramatic and adds so much magic and flavor to the typical high school romance story. Though I believe that destiny can't be changed, this drama was still very inspiring and uplifting, The fact that it revolved around characters being in a comic was already very interesting but they also added even more side plots like the female leads unhappy engagement, her forced personality in the comic book, her new love interest. It was all just so entertaining and never got boring. All the characters have such distinct personalities and the music and OST's are amazing!
This drama has so much to offer and i'd definitely sat it's a must watch for anyone who enjoys K-dramas. It's fresh, entertaining and easy to rewatch. 9.5/10!!

TRIES TO CURE THE CAT BUT BITES INTO IT
This is the classic case of a drama trying to break stereotypes but actually falls head down into it. At first, it roasts common romantic clichés found in these types of dramas but as it goes more into it, it just starts doing the same which makes it way more unbearable than it would've been otherwise.Plot: The plot was fairly similar to a historical fantasy romance (e.g. Destined with You), even though it had the addition element of being in a manhwa world, it was hardly able to use that plot point to any good and it just simply got wasted of any potential it had.
Acting: The acting was fairly decent overall and there are no points that I can raise against it other than the some scenes that were just written 'cringy'.
Music: The only good thing in the whole drama is the OST. The only reason I was able to bear this drama for so long was due to its good soundtrack.
Verdict: In my opinion, this drama starts out very strong but only goes downhill afterwards and somehow pulls itself up to the middle at the ending. So, this isn't a drama that I would recommend to someone hoping for a good time.

I loved this Kdrama
This kdrama is pure gold. Haru is such a green flag and I love that. No toxic ml!! I also liked female lead. She wasn't this shy and "I can't defend myself" girl. Felt sorry for the second lead (The friend of female lead, not the guy she was paired with)I laughed and cried a lot watching this Drama. It was confusing at times, and the ending has also left me confused. I had hoped we could have seen more of it (the ending), but this drama still holds a special place in my heart, and I definitely recommend it!

The storyline captures with excellent creativity!
Are we all just victims of our fate with no way to comprehend or ever change our predetermined future? Do we really have choices in life, or are we just puppets and robots forced to live out our existence? We grow up believing the world revolves around us, viewing our environment in such a way that we are the center of our own universe, then one day we get a rude awakening that life isn't just about us after all. And none of us really are the masters of our own making. This is the amazing premise of this spellbinding storyline. On the surface, it appears to be a typical high school drama replete with handsome flower boys called the A3. One finds there are subtle, wry references to other high school dramas so memories of all those I've seen in the past came up for me, especially "Boys Over Flowers/Meteor Garden." On an obvious front is the essential K-drama full of any trope between a male and female lead.
BUT ON THE DEEPER LEVEL EXISTS A WHOLE NEW STORYLINE UNIMAGINED BY VETERAN VIEWERS OF K-DRAMA. And this is where the writing captures with excellent creativity! The girl we come to associate with reaches self-explanatory realization which casts her as an extra in her own world. Trying very hard and determinedly to thwart her predestination and forecast of future events, she keeps encountering the stronger will of her creator, coming against a brick wall of finding herself living out the motions.
The extra has such spunk that she summons everything within herself to desperately fight the arranged engagement for business and money purposes. She does all in her power to prepare against always being the fall guy or scapegoat who simply enables the main couple. Persistently she goes against her stereotypical role of the sickly, weak supporting cast who is only there to serve the will of whatever higher power controls her life script.
Finally one day, hope and illumination arrives in the form of a mysterious stranger. With her usual bravado, she tries everything to discover his identity using her heart, heart monitor and her back. For me, this is where the story really took off, and I was enraptured to view her extraordinary fighting against going-silently-into-the-dark-night of mediocrity and unfulfilled, meaningless existence.
For a fantasy, I think this is among the best of its kind, and the comic book world is reminiscent of "W" yet still in a distinction of its own. This is plenteous with ironic humor, the extra's witty comments being eloquent with tongue-in-cheek references and pointers. Her rising growth in consciousness, as well as the twists and turns of her romance, were fun to watch, if you get the message the writer conveyed. I found I was not simply entertained, but this penetrated my thinking and complacency.
These are only 30-minute episodes so it's just 16 full episodes. Lovely OST, far from average plot, beautiful cast, definitive fantasy, distinguished writing, exhilarating pacing, highly evocative theme, excellent hike in character development, illustrative of high school dramas but taking us where I have never gone before, while spanning emotions from despair and frustration to exultant joy, this romantic comedy deserves merit and its accolades.

a simple and fulfilling drama
I'm writing this review after rewatching this drama and I had forgotten how much I loved it.The story is quite simple and a troupe that, if you are used to reading manhwas, you'll have seen a couple times, however, it's still great. Lighthearted and funny with a couple serious and emotional moments that just add to it.
Rowoon's acting here wasn't that great yet, but his character is simple and he has great chemistry with Hye Yoon, although I'm conviced my daughter would have chemistry even with a rock if she wanted to.
Eitherway, this drama is a nice watch, and no-brainer that's totally worth it.
If you've watched and liked lovely runner, you'll probably like this one as well since Hye Yoon's character seems familiar in a way, both dramas have some similar plot lines, like the subtle suspense, two time-lines (although here they'renot simultaneous or affect each other) and of course, the romance! Hye Yoon's character is also just as lively, funny and cute.
To wrap it up, if you're wandering about watching it or not, please do, it might not be the best drama you'll see in your life, but it's surely worth it.

My first two weeks of August 2023
There are soo little Korean dramas that I have had the intention to drop off. Extraordinary you since now occupies the first position. It costed me a kidney and my liver to finish it. I do not understand how it has an 8.4 as qualification. I simply do not understand. It is very repetitive. For all of us it is clear that she, the second FL Dan Oh (because the first FL is not important at all in all of the 32 episodes of the series!!!! Forgive the chakka Ju Da) was in love with a guy but then she has a new love and the new guy is going to help her. Ok, they are coming from a previous experience and it was a bad one, well, writer, give us all the first story and then the second story and I swear to you I understand who killed whom, you do not need to repeat such a scene six times!!!!! And then, at the end, you introduce an interesting character, Soo Hyang, you simply outline and it could have represented a better guide to the whole story. They all come from the previous Trumpet Creeper to this Secret opus but they are not connected at all at any time of the stories. Why???? All the characters are cartoon appearances for an episode not for that many. The chakka of this Kdrama is a cartoonist not a writer. This story could be told in just 4 episodes. 32 are a bunch of nonsense. These first two weeks of this August I will remember them as a wasted time watching this Extraordinary you. Extraordinary me for bearing it and extraordinary them for give such a high evaluation to something that is like a mass where you listen the same things over and over, week after week, year after year and to the infinite and over there...Was this review helpful to you?
