Confusing

This drama although the actors were good it was just too confusing.

The storyline was too confusing for me jumping between the past, future and present. There was not much distinction with the actors in each time zone.

I did like the general idea of the story line and understand that it is quite hard to pull it off, they did have factual information on the scientific aspect but yet again confusing.

I wish I did get a ending which look at the romance of the main character but I am aware that it is not a romance.

It did take me longer to watch than other dramas and would not rewatch, but glad I did see it.

It was umm good at first then went downhill. since it was sci-fi, a genre that I enjoy, so I kinda expect a little bit more but it wasn’t as satisfied :’) It was good, and thrilling in the first half (or maybee up to ep12). The story of time travel and parallel universe was interesting and making me curious on what will happen next especially in first half. The book of prophecy really intrigues me, it makes it like a fantasy genre which again I enjoyed a lot. One thing that I love, prolly the most is about ’dont let the past bog you down, the present is what’s important’.

Done with the praise… now with the issue. The storyline. At first I thought it was only bout time travel, but then it was also about parallel universe. Whenever they travel in time, the end up in another dimension. Okay good, a hybrid, that was quite unique. But then, if there are hundreds of dimensions, why are there loops? wholeeee never ending going around in a circle, repeating the same thing really just tf? wouldn’t there supposed to be different timelines then? The story idea is good, but the storyline damnn it went downhill that bad. Anddd one more thing, he has alexithymia. but what with the sudden explotion of emotion… and is he cured towards the end?

Okay more, And the worst thing, the one I hate the most in the series is definitely the couple. okay at first it was freakin cringe, but then I get it, that’s not his mother… she’s from another dimension, but the exact same face? isn’t that kinda creepy and incest? okay even if I put that away, the couple don’t look good together? I love the ML, i’m okay with the FL, but I don’t think they have that good chemistry going on and they don’t look as good together so I can’t really root for them. It’s better if they just paired ML with his friend, do yeon imo.

Lastly, the ending… wtf. First, I don’t know if I was dumb, I had a difficult time to wrap my head around it. So basically, his mother should not die, for him to not wander who kill his mother and how to save her, and to also make sure he did not turn into monster. Okay but I still have so many more questions.

Anyways, not really recommended because of the poorly written script. But it wasn’t that baaaad cause I’ve seen worse dramas (different genre) prolly just because I love sci fi fantasy thrill genre :))

Good storyline, confusing execution.

Alice is a drama which explores time travel in a new, but potentially confusing way.

At the offset of the drama, it seems quite promising and there are many elements which are intriguing and entice you to keep on watching. The beginning of the drama introduces you early on to the struggles of the main character, and the struggles and experiences he has had in his life to lead him to career of a detective.

Joo Won does an effective job at expressing his characters and emotions (or potentially lack of), and embracing the background of the character to effectively show his yearning to find his mothers killer. Although the characters have been built up well, it soon becomes apparent that the concept is potentially one that is very difficult to execute in the form of a drama.

Similar to most time travel dramas, there are many unexplained elements and storylines which can quickly begin to confuse the watcher. Thus, the drama becomes difficult to watch, are there are simply too many intricacies in the drama, which all seem to intertwine together without much explanation on the what, how or who. Essentially, the further the drama continued, the deeper they seemed to get into a hole, without so much as a spade to dig themselves out.

Despite the amount of inaccuracies and confusion, there is still an element of intrigue which compels you to continue watching and get the closure that is so very much needed in this drama. Unfortunately, even when the drama is finished you are left with many questions, and can still be very confused.

Controversially, there are some moments between Kim Hee Sun's character and Park Jin Gyum which bring in some romantic chemistry. As the relationship between the two are of mother and son, at times it was slightly uncomfortable to watch - despite the fact that this doesn't seem to be the intention.

This drama does have some elements which make it a very intriguing watch, and you can easily finish the drama very quickly due to the areas of tension and the effective acting, however you find yourself disappointed when you have finished it.

Underrated

I applaud the writers attempt of a more scientific approach to time travel. Even if there is some pseudo scientific entanglement for story reasons.

Ultimately though all time travel events are transitions into parallel universes (alternate timelines). And it is quite interesting to see the protagonists struggling with this concept and trying to fix things.

The acting is fine. No one stands out in particular though. The special effect are okay. Background music and sound effects are quite good in creating tension and suspense. The script is a bit heavy on dialog at times. I think 12 episodes would have been more than enough to tell the story.

It's one of the few shows that would linger in mind for some time after watching an episode. And is thus worth a 9/10.

A fun ride

I personally found Alice to be a fun and exciting show. The first few episodes were especially good. It's towards the end that things became pretty complicated, and while I appreciated some of it, I also wanted more. For example, I wish that Jin Gyeom's past with his detective father-figure wasn't erased.
I also never read his relationship with his mother as romantic like some of the other viewers have, but it was sometimes too close for comfort. Jin Gyeom said he doesn't feel any romantic interest for anyone, which did provide some relief in that aspect.
I did enjoy the characters and the acting. I thought Joo Won did a really good job of balancing a lack of emotion with the character's more emotional moments. I also enjoyed Tae Yi as a smart and pretty capable character. I thought the show nicely balanced humor, emotion, and suspense.

This show certainly isn't flawless, but I don't really nitpick flaws and rather judge on enjoyment There are some things I would change about the ending, but I'd still recommend Alice as an exciting and enjoyable show.

What no?! that's your mother!

There was no satisfying end to Alice I'm thinking it's one of those shows that mess with your mind to the end then pulls it all together and it all make sense and worth it in the end I was wrong I'm actually quite disturbed by the ending I mean it wouldn't have been so bad if they just cut out that last highly suggestive incestuous scene. don't even get me started on the space-time conflicts within the show it's like no! time doesn't work like that what are you doing?!

if your future self travels to the past and kills your past self HOW DOES FUTURE SELF EXIST?! it gave me a headache just trying to wrap my head around all the nonsense going on I kept watching because I was wanting it all to make sense eventually it never did.

like someone else said I'd like to go back in time and tell myself not to waste 16+ hours of my life on this series!

lessons learned.

Well, the drama is really twisted. Throughout the whole viewing I was constantly annoyed by the main character, well, it really pissed me off so much that I can’t tell, I was glad that Tae Yi is more resourceful than the detective. Despite this, the plot is captivating, but then the brain gets tired of understanding what is happening there, because so much is intricate. However, I wanted to know the ending, so I watched it on fast forward, because many moments were so annoying that I didn’t have enough patience, from the stupidity and illogicality of the characters' actions. It's a pity, of course, I didn’t expect such an ending. Until the end I waited for everything to be okay with the father. And the daddy turned out to be more handsome than the son, he is really a crush, for whom I was most worried. However, the drama is worth watching, it develops the brain well, that's for sure.

Terrible Endling

The episodes were good except for the last two or three i think, a lot of loop holes but thats understandable since its a time themed series. I also hate the fact that they made his mother his lover, in any dimension or time thats incest :/

The "reset" also doesnt make any sense for me , it should have reset around 1992 or when she was born.

The acting was good though but you would know that they tried to force end it overall I think I wasted my "time" on the last few episodes.

Problematic

I might be overreacting but this drama is what I would like to call: disappointment + frustration = Junky.

This drama started off well, it was quite intriguing considering the fact that I haven't seen a lot of good kdramas this year. But then after one or two eps after eps 5, the disappointment started.

They started adding new information to the drama, which made the drama seem like a whole other drama when I watch the new episodes.
The characters weren't put to good use, take for instance a character like Do Yeon, she was a reporter they could have done a lot of things with her character like bringing awareness to others and getting information. but no they didn't do that. I really despised the way they made it seem like prof. Yoon and Park Jin Gyeom were the only important character. And not only did they do that I feel like they could have made Prof. Yoon's character bring more to the table, they just made it seem like she was nothing without Park Jin Gyeom.

And I also wanted to see more of Prof. Yoon and Do Yeon work together toward the end their teamwork was admirable.

The end was really really unsensible if you'd ask me, anyone, who watched it ould have known it was rushed and while trying to come up with a thrilling idea, the best they could come up with what they gave us.

I would recommend watching the first 5-6 eps and then leave the rest to your imagination If you don't want to be disappointed like I was.

Sucks You In

I was told this drama was disappointing and almost didn't pick it up. However, I'm glad I did! Yes, it's complicated and there isn't much romance. I still liked it! The acting was superior, especially by Joo Won and Kwak Shi Wang. It was very addicting, as I binged watched to catch up. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next.

Now, the downside. There is a kind of creepy, not so subtle romantic vibe going on throuhout the drama. That bothered me. In fact, that is the reason I only rated it an 8.5. In fact, I was all set to rate it a 9 up until the end. I was expecting something different. Rather, I was *hoping* for something different. Instead, it ended on that creepy romantic vibe thing. That was disappointing. I honestly would have written the ending differently. Plus, where is Min Hyuk?! Seriously. :(

I would like to end this by saying that after watching this, Kwak Shi Wang needs a main role! I fell in love with this guy!

Anyway. I can recommend it if you like a good, mature story and have an open mind. It is really good. Just could have been awesome, had they veered in another direction at the end.

Whenever i start a new drama i tend to read reviews and if they are bad i just drop the drama but on Alice the more i saw negative comments the more i wanted to watch it and i must say this drama didn't disappoint me. This is one of the best time traveling dramas i have enjoyed so far im on episode 9 and i must say it keeps me staring on my screen. If you are going to watch this drama you have to pay more attention to all details and i promise you will love it. I love anything that have to do with science. The cast did well for me. Those saying the present Yo Tae is annoying i mean give credit to the actress she really did well on this movie.

A Really Poor Series…

I’m a big fan of hare-brained ideas and sci-fi fantasy shows. Some people mind find them absurd but I think that they have a certain peculiar charm to them.

I think that Alice was one of those shows which on paper and in the initial reading sounded brilliant. In fact I really liked the concept of the detective meeting his mother’s doppelgänger and the mystery element to the sci-fi fantasy action.

On the other hand I felt as though that even the screenwriters weren’t entirely sure what they were going with here. The plot logic seemed to be out the window. For example let’s cover the basis of the main leads’ parentage. I can’t believe for a minute that the female lead’s mother could’ve been THE ONLY female time traveller ever in the agency to be pregnant when time travelling, so why did it affect her of all people?

A lot of plot ties which seemed important in early episodes was rarely touched upon in the next episode . I think what made this funnier was the fact that despite seemingly being revolved around some big brained scientists who are main characters or have an active role in the events of the series a lot of evident matters with time travel such as paradoxes and the problem of the butterfly effect were often left disregarded.

I didn’t think the acting was entirely bad here but it was hard to feel anything authentic with the onscreen relationship between our leads!? I don’t know if I blame the actors entirely as it seemed as though the dialogue was a bit wooden and the slow pacing was an immediate turn off for me.
