funny & cute .. must watch!!

ive only seen two episodes (as there are only two up as of now) but it's a lot like the webtoon and i'm really excited to see what they do with this!! the characters are really similar to those in the webtoon and i love it so far. i found that eunwoo's character is a lot more interesting than his in my id is gangnam beauty and i can't wait to see what comes next :D i really recommend starting this, from what i've seen you won't be disappointed! i love the cast and the storyline is a lot more interesting than the one in the webtoon, as the story is partly more developed to show the story through the viewpoint of the different characters (not just jugyeong) and i love this because it gives the viewer a lot more to think about. i also love the ost, i really think the songs all fit :p

Wait a minute, you telling me heavy make up can cover that kind of acne? I guess I should work on my make up skills.

I personally believe that it’s ridiculous to treat people badly based on their looks seeing that we never get to choose our looks. If you are good looking it’s not an achievement since you didn’t earn your looks they are just a gift of Mother Nature. So I really did sympathize with the female lead for having to take all that crap from bad people just because of her looks. I just didn’t like how it seemed like her problems will be superficially solved by make up. I never got past the first episode so I can’t really say much about the entire drama.

A wonderful love trigle and fun drama.. Love it

It’s the first drama which i m watching while airing.. Normally i don’t wait for nxt episode.. So i watch when it’s finished.. But this time I couldn’t stop myself watching this.. ( Tnx to the Fan pages Of IG 😌)

So basically it is a funny love Triangle drama...
Both Main Male Leads ( Cha eun woo and
hwang in yeop) are so handsome and amazing actor.. They are giving their best.. And honestly that's why iy is very hard to make a choice between These two... [ like YOU can say harder than your Math question 😜 ]
Then about the main lead..there is nothing to say much.. Moon ga young has also done her part nicely..

And i hope you Won't be disappointed with this drama.. Bcoz this story is not fully a webtoon.. So you Won't be bore...

«True Beauty» est comédie romantique avec pour message de fond, de s’accepter soi-même. On y parle de violence scolaire, d’intimidation, ce qu’a subi le personnage principal, malgré tout, le drama ne se concentre pas sur le sujet, plutôt sur les séquelles laissées par tout ça sur Joo Kyung, et comment ça se reflète encore sur sa vie. Malgré les sujets qui sont plus sérieux, entre autres également le suicide et le deuil, ce drama ne lésine pas sur le côté humoristique non plus ! Ce drama a réussi à me faire rire aux éclats plus d’une fois ! Et ce qui est intéressants, c’est que plus d’une romance est mise en avant, toutes uniques. Le tout, joués par des acteurs et des actrices qui ont tous été parfaits, je ne peux que recommander ce drama à ceux aimant le genre, et je sais que de mon côté, je finirai par le revoir prochainement !

La vera bellezza- Quando il drama supera il webtoon

Drama molto riuscito, piacevole, emotivamente coinvolgente, ma non perfetto: è una serie che funziona tanto quando abbraccia i codici del romance adolescenziale, tanto quando prova a dire qualcosa sull’insicurezza, sull’immagine di sé e sulla pressione sociale. Allo stesso tempo, però, non sempre riesce a tenere la barra dritta fino in fondo. Ha momenti davvero riusciti, scene che restano, una confezione visiva curata e una chimica che aiuta moltissimo ma si porta dietro anche qualche ingenuità narrativa, alcuni passaggi ripetitivi e un finale che lascia un’impressione un po’ meno solida rispetto al resto.

True Beauty sa esattamente che tipo di prodotto vuole essere. Non cerca di sembrare più “alto” o più sofisticato di ciò che è, e questo è già un punto a favore. È un drama romantico scolastico, leggero solo in apparenza, perché sotto la superficie da commedia sentimentale mette in scena un tema che tocca tantissime persone: il rapporto con il proprio viso, con il proprio corpo, con l’idea di essere guardati, giudicati, confrontati. La protagonista vive il proprio aspetto come una zona di vulnerabilità costante, e il trucco diventa una sorta di armatura, un filtro tra lei e il mondo. La serie parte da qui e, quando resta fedele a questa base emotiva, riesce a toccare corde sincere. Il bello di True Beauty è che non fa solo “la storia carina tra tre ragazzi in un liceo”, ma usa la storia carina per parlare di insicurezza, desiderio di essere accettati, vergogna e bisogno di sentirsi finalmente visti senza dover recitare.

Uno dei suoi punti forti più evidenti è proprio la capacità di essere emotivamente accessibile. Non è un drama che pretende di essere profondo a tutti i costi, però sa colpire. Sa costruire piccoli momenti che funzionano: uno sguardo trattenuto, una scena di imbarazzo, un gesto di protezione, una battuta buttata lì che alleggerisce la tensione senza distruggere la tenerezza del momento. È una serie che vive molto di dettagli e di micro-emozioni, e qui fa centro. Il risultato è che lo spettatore si affeziona facilmente ai personaggi e alle loro fragilità. Non serve che tutto sia complesso o stratificato in modo enorme: spesso basta il modo in cui la scena è costruita per far passare la sensazione giusta.

Un altro grande punto di forza è la chimica tra i protagonisti. In un romance scolastico, la chimica non è un dettaglio: è il motore. in True Beauty invece la dinamica centrale ha abbastanza energia da reggere gran parte del racconto. Ci sono tensione, dolcezza, imbarazzo, attrazione e anche quella piccola goffaggine che rende credibile l’età dei personaggi. Non è una chimica esplosiva nel senso più melodrammatico del termine, ma è una chimica ben calibrata, che lavora bene soprattutto nei momenti più quieti, e per chimica io intendo anche il triangolo, uno dei più riusciti dei drama moderni e il rapporto tra Lee Su Hoo e Kang Soo Jun, la loro amicizia che affronta alti e bassi e i tipici estremismi adolescenziali.

La regia e la fotografia sono interessanti: il lavoro è esteticamente gradevole in modo quasi costante, colori curati sul pastello che danno quell'aura di incanto e dolcezza, innocenza dei primi amori, l'approdo all'età adulta, quell'aria di mezzo e diventano più scuri e definiti negli ultimi episodi che trattano già qualche anno dopo e i nostri personaggi dopo i venti anni. La luce è morbida, gli ambienti con carte da parati floreali e piante sulla scuola danno un tocco british/romance, inquadrature che valorizzano i volti e i piccoli gesti, ritmo visivo molto adatto a un romance giovane e brillante. Non c’è nulla di casuale nella sua estetica. Tutto sembra costruito per sostenere un’atmosfera romantica, delicata, a tratti quasi da fumetto sentimentale. E questo si sente. La serie ha una sua identità visiva abbastanza forte, soprattutto nella capacità di rendere gli spazi scolastici e quotidiani meno banali di quanto potrebbero essere. Anche quando la trama non fa miracoli, la confezione tiene alto il livello di coinvolgimento.

La colonna sonora merita un discorso simile. Non è solo un accompagnamento ma una parte della macchina emotiva del drama. Le musiche sostengono bene i momenti di tenerezza, i passaggi più malinconici e quelli più leggeri. In una serie così dipendente dal tono, una OST sbagliata avrebbe potuto rovinare tutto. Invece qui la musica sa entrare senza schiacciare, senza diventare invadente, e aiuta a creare quella sensazione da “drama che ti coccola”, ma senza svuotarlo del tutto. È una colonna sonora che accompagna bene la memoria emotiva dello spettatore: certe scene restano anche perché il modo in cui sono sonorizzate le rende più vive e più riconoscibili.

Sul piano dei personaggi, uno dei meriti della serie è aver costruito figure facilmente distinguibili, ognuna con una funzione narrativa e affettiva precisa. La protagonista non è solo “la ragazza carina che si trucca”: è una ragazza ferita, insicura, ironica quando riesce, vulnerabile quando la maschera cade. Funziona perché non viene trattata come un puro oggetto di desiderio, anche se ovviamente il drama gioca molto con la sua immagine. Il personaggio maschile più introverso porta con sé una delicatezza che cresce a poco a poco, e questo lo rende molto amabile. L’altro polo del triangolo amoroso, invece, aggiunge una nota di energia, protezione e immediatezza che serve a non lasciare il racconto troppo monocorde. Non tutti i personaggi secondari hanno lo stesso livello di sviluppo, e qui si vede un limite del testo, ma il nucleo centrale regge abbastanza bene da far funzionare la storia.

Detto questo, True Beauty ha anche debolezze abbastanza riconoscibili, e credo sia giusto dirle chiaramente perché è proprio lì che si misura l’obiettività. La prima è la sua dipendenza dai cliché. Non è un difetto devastante, perché il drama scolastico vive anche di cliché e li usa quasi come linguaggio madre. Però qui spesso il racconto segue percorsi molto prevedibili. Le dinamiche sentimentali, i malintesi, le gelosie, gli equilibri tra i due pretendenti, la costruzione delle scene di imbarazzo o salvataggio: tutto questo raramente sorprende davvero. La serie sa essere efficace, ma non sempre originale. Si muove in un territorio noto e riesce a farlo con grazia. Però la sensazione di déjà vu, in alcuni momenti, resta. Infatti lo consiglio a chi si affaccia a questo mondo, per me è stato il mio quinto drama visto e ha funzionato, dopo 3 anni ne faccio un rewatch e vedo i difetti.
Altro cavallo di battaglia è il ritmo: si dilunga molto all'inizio e alla fine e gli episodi durano quanto un film però raramente annoia davvero , anzi... .Episodio 1 e 10-12 sono stati quelli dove forse ho tirato qualche sbadiglio ma normalmente fila liscio come l'olio.

Il tema centrale, pur essendo valido, non è sviluppato fino in fondo con la stessa forza per tutta la durata della serie. Questa è forse una delle critiche più importanti. True Beauty parla di accettazione di sé, ma il suo modo di farlo resta spesso impigliato nella logica del romance e dell’estetizzazione. La protagonista cresce, certo, però il rapporto con il trucco, con l’apparenza e con la sicurezza personale non viene sempre affrontato in modo radicale. A volte sembra che il drama voglia dire: “vai bene così”, ma poi continui comunque a premiarti soprattutto quando rientri in un certo standard visivo molto preciso. È un cortocircuito comune in tante serie del genere, e qui si sente. La storia tocca il tema dell’autostima, ma non lo decostruisce davvero fino in fondo. Rimane molto buona nell’emozione, un po’ meno incisiva nella riflessione.
TUTTAVIA IL PUNTO FORTE É:
il percorso della protagonista, che non si limita a trovare l'amore, ma impara progressivamente a liberarsi dal peso del giudizio degli altri. Il confronto con i bulli rappresenta uno dei momenti emotivamente più riusciti, perché il suo riscatto nasce dalla ritrovata consapevolezza di sé, non da una semplice trasformazione estetica.
Anche il messaggio finale risulta più maturo di quanto possa sembrare. Jugyeong non rinuncia completamente al trucco: continua a usarlo, ma in modo naturale, quasi impercettibile. È una scelta significativa, perché il make-up non è più una maschera dietro cui nascondersi, bensì uno strumento di espressione personale. Il drama suggerisce così che accettarsi non significa rinunciare a ciò che ci piace, ma smettere di dipendere da esso per sentirsi degni di essere amati.

Anche alcuni personaggi secondari avrebbero meritato più spazio o una scrittura più nitida (sorella e fratello, compagni di scuola). In un drama corale, anche i comprimari dovrebbero lasciare un segno più deciso, invece qui qualcuno rimane più funzionale che memorabile. Ci sono figure che servono a sostenere la protagonista, a creare momenti di leggerezza o a far avanzare il triangolo amoroso, ma non sempre vengono trattate come persone a sè. È una scelta comprensibile, perché il focus è chiaramente sulla protagonista e sulla dinamica sentimentale, però un po’ di profondità in più avrebbe reso l’insieme più ricco e meno dipendente dai rapporti centrali.

Il finale, infine, è uno dei punti più deboli rispetto al resto. Non perché sia disastroso, ma perché arriva con una sensazione di minor compattezza. In una serie che per molte puntate ha lavorato bene sull’intensità sentimentale e sulla costruzione dell’affetto, il finale ha il compito di chiudere con una certa forza emotiva e con una sensazione di direzione. Qui invece resta un’impressione un po’ più prudente, un po’ meno memorabile di quanto il percorso avrebbe meritato. Non rovina il viaggio ma non lo consacra nemmeno del tutto. E per una recensione obiettiva questo pesa, perché il finale è spesso ciò che resta come ultima impronta nella memoria dello spettatore.

Se però si tira la somma, True Beauty rimane un drama decisamente riuscito nel suo insieme. Non perché sia perfetto, ma perché sa esattamente dove vuole arrivare e, nella maggior parte dei casi, ci arriva. Ha una buona sceneggiatura, un impianto visivo curato, una colonna sonora efficace, un ritmo generalmente piacevole e soprattutto un cuore emotivo che funziona. I suoi difetti sono reali, ma non cancellano il fatto che si tratti di una serie capace di intrattenere con intelligenza, di far sorridere, di far soffrire il giusto e di lasciare affezionati ai personaggi. È il classico caso di drama che non ti sconvolge con la sua originalità, ma ti conquista per il modo in cui sa usare bene gli strumenti del genere.

In conclusione, è un titolo molto solido nel panorama del romance teen coreano. Non rivoluziona il genere, non ambisce davvero a farlo, ma lo maneggia con sicurezza, sensibilità e una confezione molto gradevole. Il suo valore sta nel riuscire a essere accessibile senza diventare banale del tutto, emotivo senza scadere troppo nel sentimentalismo, leggero senza essere vuoto. Resta un drama che funziona soprattutto quando si lascia guidare dal sentimento, dalle piccole fragilità e dalla chimica tra i personaggi, è una serie tv che utilizza una struttura narrativa tradizionale per raccontare un tema contemporaneo con una sensibilità superiore alla media del genere.
Quando invece prova a sostenere il suo messaggio con troppa prevedibilità o con passaggi narrativi troppo comodi, mostra i suoi limiti. Per questo un voto intorno all’8,2/10 ha senso (7,7 PER IL FINALE) : è un giudizio che riconosce quanto la serie sia riuscita ma anche quanto le manchi ancora per entrare nella categoria dei drama davvero indimenticabili.

Fun Drama (gives web drama vibes)

look if you're looking for true depth, dramatic, and world of the married type series well then maybe its not for you. if u get frustrated easily, dont like things going in circles, dont like some cringy tropy stuff, maybe u wont love this. (but even then i suggest u try n if rlly not for u then drop)

It isn't very serious at all or melodramatic but there are some serious parts. It is based of a webtoon so there are quiet a bit of comical animations and cliche moments (but i wouldn't say they're annoying, just gives me moments when i feel like eun dan o watching the protagonists). there are like, uk, typical misunderstandings and near misses and triangles but thats just how it be. (Its frustrating to me but oh well) As i write in the headlines, it gives me web drama vibes but not as light hearted (as it is longer and more complex-ish like character wise). The whole vibe is very similar to extraordinary you (directing and editing wise not story line), which makes sense because same director and producer i think. The complexity of characters is interesting, and by complex i dont necessarily meand deep but like not surface level, and they seem consistent(i mean like the way the character acts makes sense (for most characters), even though suho seems cold, when he starts acting a different way its not like how in other dramas when the male lead all of a sudden is nice, like you understand why all the characters act the way they do). (it just sells).The story also does not revolve only on the triangle, although it is a lot of it,there are interesting side plots and stories that rlly got me hooked.

i have my fair share of complaints dont get me wrong, like the mother at least in these earlier episodes, i just cant. but i still really enjoy it. Also not that much of a fan of when ppl cant tell who another person likes EVEN THOUGH ITS SO DAMN OBVIOUS, and also when they MAKE STUPID DECISIONS, but its ok bcs that part of the "fun". also if u binge it after its all done i feel like ur frustration level will decrease by ten folds compared to mine as u dont have to wait for the next episode n can just find out right away what happens next.

For fans of the webtoon i dont think you'll be disappointed. The story is actually very different. (which ig some ppl would not like but i think its good that they did not follow the webtoon exactly cause the webtoon as a drama would be kinda boring as webtoons are short + storyline a little too simple.) They kept the concept and earlier or broad plots the same or similar, but even if you've seen the webtoon you'll still not know what will happen. They differ from the webtoon plot and also go deeper in side plots and more of them. They also added more elements, like family presence/dynamic, new characters and more background information on the mains and those around them. They also went a different route with the triangle (more sped up). With that said i rlly dont think ppl should go into this with webtoon mindset and/or favs (i mean fine for me but maybe not *ahem* seojun lovers) as ofc its different, and scenes with characters might be given to others etc but thats to make the story is better.

As far as the triangle theres no way to do the webtoon plot as she lowkey dates both guys, but i think the writers are doing a good job making the relationship between the characters and their interactions. There are are more scenes (so far) that make the main leads closer and justifies their relationship so it makes it harder to get second lead syndrom

The musics fun and matches the drama. My favorite is how do you do but they stop playing that song makes me sad :(. But i esp love that they have like artists songs, like maria and okey dokey could not get out of my head for sooo long.

In terms of acting outside of the cringy cliche moments i think it's done really well and even in the cringy moments i think they're pretty funny. cliche moments will be cliche and their acting are sometimes a little to exagerated for my taste but still. The cast is amazing, and their chemistry is great.

specific actings:
- Moon Ga Young ahh- IMO she always sells it (like from the dramas of her ive watched) n in this one its the same thing. one scene in paticular i cant stop watching is the maria one. her facial expressions just perfectly matches the character. the mix of confidence and nervousness and cluelessness ahh *chefs kiss*
- People like to say that between the 2 guys they like hwang in yeops acting better and that cha eun woo just isn't up to the rest but i beg to differ. I think his acting is rlly good (esp. compared to ID Gangnam where his chaacter seems similar). For scenes when he was cold ofc it makes it seem like he has not much facial expressions but like thats the character, and his acting shows in later episodes when the character goes through different emotions (akward moments + heartfelt sad ). Idc what anyone says, i think his acting in this one is good. ughh cant get over those akward scenes or when he tries to act a certain way to get her and when he break my heart with hose sad scenes.
- Hwang in yeop's portrayal of seo joon i think is great. He has that anger for suho and bad boy image but in actuality hes a good caring guy and i think in yeop rlly shows this (along with the writing). like in the okey dokey scene omg second hand embaressment was real, but it showed the goofy side of seo joon and when he plays it off like its cool to match his cool image.


also might be biased of the show as i said im a fan of eun woo, also the FL as i saw her in find me in your memory, and the sister (saw her in when the weather is nice) and in yeop in 18 again.

entre éclats de rire, tendresse et émotions !

Ce drama a réussit à mêler légèreté, humour et sujets plus profonds avec une belle sincérité. L’histoire peut sembler classique au premier abord "une lycéenne complexée qui découvre les pouvoirs du maquillage" mais elle est portée avec justesse et émotion, ce qui la rend particulièrement attachante 🥹💄

Même si l’on devine certains rebondissements, ça n’enlève rien au plaisir du visionnage. Les codes du triangle amoureux sont bien présents, mais traités avec une fraîcheur qui rend le tout hyper addictif ✨

Du côté du casting, Moon Ga-young brille dans le rôle de Lim Ju-kyung, à la fois drôle, maladroite et bouleversante. Je me suis attachée très vite à elle. 💕 Team Su-ho dans le cœur… mais il faut avouer que Hwang In-yeop (Seo-jun) crève l’écran avec son charisme et une profondeur de jeu inattendue 😍🔥

Le trio fonctionne à merveille, chacun apportant une couleur différente à l’histoire, et leur alchimie rend les moments drôles, gênants ou tendres encore plus savoureux 🐆🩳💥

Mais ce drama, ce n’est pas seulement de la romance lycéenne comme déjà dit, il parle aussi d’acceptation de soi, de l’impact du regard des autres et de la quête d’identité. Des thèmes importants, abordés avec douceur et parfois même une vraie sensibilité 👀💔

En bref, "True Beauty" est un joli mélange de rires, de papillons dans le ventre et de réflexions plus profondes, parfait pour ceux qui aiment les dramas mignons mais pas dénués de fond ✌🏻
