Hilarious and weirdly relatable
Most people probably think this plot is very silly and unrealistic, but for some of us it is pretty real.I have very bad skin and for years I wouldn’t even go to the grocery store without a full face of make-up. I look very different with make-up on and I have actually had people laugh at me, when they saw my bare face for the first time. So my point is, Ju Gyeong’s story might be more relatable to viewers than you think.
Up until episode 13, I might have given this a score of 9. I loved everything about it: I screamed laughing several times, I loved both Cha Eun Woo and Hwang In Yeop, I could relate to Ju Gyeong and I adored her sister’s side plot.
But then the drama fell victim to the „too many episodes“ curse. I do not know the webtoon, so I can only review the plot of the drama, which would’ve found the perfect ending at the end of episode 13. I seriously thought that was the end of the drama cause the ending scene was perfect. But then I realized that there are three more episodes. Which is why I paused the drama at that point and only forced myself to watch those last three episodes many weeks later. They ended up not being as bad as expected - but still, some unnecessary added drama.
However, I definitely still recommend watching this. It is absolutely hilarious. Seriously, I laughed so loudly, I’m pretty sure you could hear me down the whole street.

Comfort Kdrama
Okay to be fair, I am a bit biased towards this kdrama since I followed it before the episodes aired AND I read the Webtoon version as well. BUT! The show does bring out a beautiful story about self love and self image and how loving yourself before loving anyone else should always be your priority. I'd call this kdrama a feel good kdrama because really everything goes well for the main character in the end (Which aheemmm it might be a little unrealistic but she did go through a lot of shit so she deserves it!!) But also another thing i'm so mad about is how poorly they treated seojun in here. As an avid TB Webtoon reader, seojun and jukyung were each others first everything and that got practically erased in the show. I got really mad and was very disappointed when their first kiss never happened! Not even jukyung reciprocrating his feelings!? Thats just low...But I digress! Its a good show to watch when you're feeling low but do beware the second lead syndrome will hit HARD.Was this review helpful to you?
I am an avid True Beaty webtoon reader, and although I must admit that I am not a big fan of the webtoon, but I think this drama is pesonally... alright?
This drama is honestly, in my opinion, better than the webtoon. They made the characters more relatable and lovable, and it was quite different compared to the webtoon. The pairings were pretty interesting, and there were many funny and cute moments.
I think the casting and acting was great because they really portrayed the characters well! But the story... was really cliché and predictable. I found myself cringing a lot while watching. Not to mention the fact that there were so many stereotypical characters.
Overall, I didn't enjoy it very much, but it depends on your taste. If you love sappy and cliché dramas, go try this out! (my sister quite enjoyed it, so you might too, if you have the same taste as her)🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Great show to watch especially if you are a fan of the Webtoon
As some one who has enjoyed watching the Webtoon i enjoyed watching True Beauty. It's always great when Webtoon's get created into a real life show, for this show they did a good job keeping to the story line and the overall look and vibe of the Webtoon. The actors are spot on compared to the Webtoon too. They did change somethings in the show but it still goes along the lines of being confident with your true self/beauty featuring two high school boys and their unfortunate past as friends. However if you are not familiar with the Webtoon this show may seem like a pretty normal love triangle k-drama. Still, I would say it is enjoyable anyway for those who have not read the Webtoon. There is a lot of comedy that makes it entertaining to watch, anyone who writes a negative review is probably taking the show a bit too seriously. If you like simple easy to follow along high school romance drama's then this is the show for you.Moon GaYoung (Jugyeong) is the perfect person to play Jugyeong. Compared to her past shows like "Tempted" this is different for her and it was fun watching her play Jugyeong. Cha Eun Woo is just being Cha Eun Woo, compared to his past shows like "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" (which is actually a very similar show to True Beauty) he plays a similar character who comes off as cold but comes to love and support the girl character. My expectations are never big when it comes to his acting since he is a pretty simple actor and plays a lot of the same kind of characters but this does not mean i do not enjoy seeing him in the drama's he appears in. I would like to see something a bit different from him in the future though as an actor, but as Lee Suho he was perfect for the role. Hwang In-Yeop (Han Seojun) is a new actor to me but he is pretty entertaining and scarily looks a lot like the drawing in the Webtoon. Park Yoona (Kang Soojin) is also a kind of new person to me but was very impressed with her and now love her as an actress. I can't wait to see her in more dramas, she is a great actress who has a good 'villain face' when she becomes the bully of the show. And lastly as a random mention is Jang Hyejin as the mother of Jugyeong. Jang Hyejin is a brillant actress, i did think is is very random that she is in this show since she has hit such big success being in "Parasite" that won many awards last year but she is pretty good at being the comedic over the top mother in True Beauty.

LOVE IT!!
thoughts: i actually really like this drama so far. when i heard the webtoon was going to be made into a drama, i started reading the webtoon. and im on chapter #125 (english ver.). i do realize that there's contrasting opinions with the whole "the drama is similar to the webtoon" etc. bu if you realize that the kdrama, yes it's based on the webtoon, but mainly an adaption, and the writer of the kdrama was hired to do their job and that is to write the kdrama. i think lots of people are upset that the kdrama does not follow the webtoon scene by scene but honestly if it did then there would be no point in eevenen making the kdrama because it's just a duplicate of the webtoon.plot: the plot is, yes stereotypical, but it at the same time is quite enjoyable. people will complain about the whole "school love triangle" thing is used too many times in kdramas, cdrama, jdramas, etc. but the reason that that same plot is used so many times in dramas is that it either does well or is entertainment worthy. yes there's plenty of other dramas with other storylines like Private Lives, Flower of Evil, and The King: Eternal Monarch. so instead of complaining about the plot and how it's not following the webtoon play by play, just do not watch True Beauty and keep your mouth shut.
characters/setting etc: i actually like Jugyeong in the kdrama more than the webtoon, because i felt as though in the webtoon her character has no "substance" like her character is kinda narrow-minded and her personality isn't really there. but in the drama i feel as though her character is "better"? i really like moon gayoung acting too. i think she and the other actors have great chemistry. i also think that the issues and underlying problems in the drama are handled well and like any other kdrama are spread out and go into detail as the drama develops. i personally like that the casting director did an amazing job finding actors who look similar to the characters in the webtoon. also, the soundtrack is very nice with Yuju from Gfriend singing part 2 in the OST. i think its very catchy.
conclusion: my final thoughts are that i really like drama and for me, i love triangles and especially school dramas. i will continue watching this and like Start-Up there's a war between Suho and Seojun and i think that just makes True Beauty all that better because of the involvement of fans.

Why should/shouldn't watch TRUE BEAUTY...
To start with, this drama was originally created in a webtoon series which was written by YAONGYI. To be honest, even though the comic version is still incomplete but she really nailed it. The way she draws and portraits each and every character in that comic was just unbelievable. And yet TvN really spoiled it very badly. At first, I was super excited about the drama version of this comic but watching the ending made many viewers feel very disappointed including myself.About the cast of the drama, everyone has done their roles very well and made many viewers fall for their charm and beauty. At the same time, the second lead characters of the drama didn't get to participate much in the drama. I don't wanna spoil what happened in the comic and also in the drama. As a true webtoon series fan, the only thing that I can mention here is that the comic version and the drama version both are completely different. They changed most of the plot in the drama where it had a really boring ending. The actors who played the second lead character, Hwang In-Yeop and Park Yoo Na had very least parts in the drama but they caught everyone's eye in this drama.
I'm not supposed to give any spoilers about the drama or the comic but still, I have to convince the readers with my review. According to the Webtoon version, Suho will be Jugyeong's first boyfriend, and one part he'll leave her as he has to take care of his dad who was seriously ill. Eventually, they both broke up. Then soon, Seojun will be her boyfriend and took care of her very well like literally how all the girls want their boyfriend to be. To be honest, Seojun was just the perfect version of a boyfriend that all the girls need. Later on, Suho will return from the States (if I'm not mistaken) and they will remain as friends. Somehow in the end Seojun and Jugyeong will break up too as Sejun was an idol who was supposed to be debuting soon. Some Seojun fans claimed that he was having a dating scandal with Jugyeong as they always took pictures in the same place and post it on their social media platform. Seojun's agency didn't want to have any problem with Seojun's debut so they talked very badly to Jugyeong and made her dump Seojun just like that. Actually, Seojun refused badly to Jugyeong about their sudden break, and yet he respected her decision on this problem. Days flew by, Suho entered a cooking class to make himself busy as possible while Seojun was busy with his debut as he was a successful rookie in his beginning. Jugyeong made herself busy by going on a few blind dates but it didn't work out as it was not to her expectation level. So that was the incomplete comic version story.
For the drama version, it is completely different. Suho and Jugyoeng were in a relationship but then Soojin like Suho because he was friends with her for 10 years and he's always concern about Soojin as she get bitten by her dad. On the other hand, Seojun likes Jugyeong because he finds her attractive and kind. Somehow Seojun controlled his emotions towards Jugyeong and supported his friend Suho. I don't wanna spoil anymore about the drama... HEHEHEHE!!!! You can watch it if u want to know the whole story. Sorry if you're not happy or excited while reading my review but thus is the truth trust. Especially if you're in TEAM SEOJUN. definitely ypu will feel stress and disappointed.

The Ugly Duckling Story
I did not read the story's webtoon, yet it still was very predictable, at least for me. When a story becomes predictable, then you know it's cliche. A girl bullied because she is "ugly" then becomes "beautiful," and now everyone loves her. Even until the very end, including the romance, was predictable. It might be something the majority of the viewers enjoy but definitely not me. I really liked the acting of all the characters but the main female lead. Her acting kept reminding me that it is a show and she is an actress. In other words, to my eyes, it was forced. I am sure other of the roles she played are great. But, I don't feel there was a connection to the webtoon's character other than their physical resemblance. Regardless, the comedy was there. It was pretty enjoyable because of the other couples whose interactions were great. The bromance was good. After two episodes, I was tired. I would not rewatch it. But if you want, give it a try. This is only my review and my take on the drama. You might have a different perspective. Was this review helpful to you?
such a lovable drama!
This drama looks like a highschool drama, but actually the storyline is much deeper than that. The combination of love story, family relationships, friendships, comedy, and teenage problems in general really make this drama worth watching.
The casts are perfect for each character, even for casts with the smallest parts are good, the director did a good job choosing all casts.
We'll feel the happiness, the sadness, the laughter, and also the bitterness of the story.
I think this drama delivers its message so well, about first love, family and friendship.
And, i love the songs in it too! Great drama OST!
If u havent watch it, please do.

The ratings are too high for this drama
People out there definitely rated this drama so high because of the cast cause there's no way this drama deserve such a high rating otherwise the plot is a total disappointment I really liked how it started but then around ep 8 the story started going downhill , the last 2 ep were so rushed and bad I can't believe they really tried so hard to make us believe the 2 leads were so much in love and all but it came out as a totally forced one . I didn't like how they focused the last 2 eps on suho even though he was not around they could have gave seojun a chance to build his relationship with the FL but no . I don't ship seojun with jukyung because I don't think they gave us any chance to ship them they hardly had any cute scenes together apart from friendship which I really liked btw but i knew from the beginning she's going to end up with suho ofcourse but they could have made it a little better. Was this review helpful to you?
A sweet drama
I liked this drama a lot. However, I will admit that a few characters really bugged me. I didn't enjoy the FL's parents (especially the Mom...she's just mean for no reason). The actor and actress were great, but the characters were grating for me. I also found the plot point of the FL not wanting people to see her bare face really frustrating after a while. It was fine at first and even seemed appropriate given her history, but after awhile it was just annoying. Once it was removed as a plot point the entire show got better in my opinion.I like the friendships shown. It's fun to see groups of people interacting. But I could have done without the "extra" bullying. I know some was necessary in the beginning to make the story work, but seeing more later on was just not something I wanted to deal with at all.
Overall, though there were some parts I didn't like, this is one of the better dramas I've seen in the last year so that's a huge win for me.

Waiting for the next episode patiently.
I'm so excited with this series for 2 reasons1. I love True Beauty, it's the 1st and only webtoon I really read and followed and I imagine Cha Eun Woo as Lee Su Ho while reading this. Having Cha Eunwoo as the ML is a dream come true for True Beauty readers like me.
2. I miss Cha Eunwoo in a drama. I've watched Gangnam Beauty several times already and never get tired of it.
I can't wait for the next episodes. I don't usually watch dramas that has few episode because I'm used of binge watching, but I cannot wait to see the episode so I started watching True Beauty even if it just started.

I LOVED everything about this drama, all the characters and character development
Watched this whilst it was ongoing, thought I'd write the review now despite it being almost year since I started the drama. It was a very memorable drama.I haven't read the webtoon and I never will (I've read parts of it online). But, from what I heard, the webtoon isn't very good mostly because it lacks character development, something this drama did not have an issue with. Do not come into this drama expecting it to be like the webtoon.
I loved all the characters in this drama and I was actually able to understand them all (excluding Soo Jin). This drama deals with a lot of big issues such as suicide, bullying, depression, loss of a parent (2 actually) and abusive parents. It's also about following your dream. It's not just about romance, the drama doesn't start with romance (though it does have a lot of chemistry), it grows into romance in a not slow (but not fast) pace after delving into the friendship of all the characters. Despite the serious issues this drama deals, it is still a hilarious romcom and doesn't gloss over the trauma all of the characters had to deal with.
I found Ju Gyeong relatable in many ways. She was bullied at her school for the way she looked, despite what a great person she was. She was betrayed by her friends and she hated herself because of how people judged her solely based on her looks. Her parents didn't understand her or even attempt to (until the end), and out of all her siblings, she was the least academically smart (and least good looking) and was often overlooked by her family. She made herself "beautiful" using makeup as her shield to protect herself from people bullying her at her new school. She had a lot of trust issues and didn't think that people will ever like her if they knew how she really looked. I loved that the drama delved into this a lot and had her finally accept herself and be okay with people knowing what she looked like without makeup, it stopped being her lifeline.
I loved Su Ho and Seo Jun. Despite having a little bit of a second lead syndrome, I loved that Ju Gyeong ended up with Su Ho though. Su Ho and Seo Jun both lost there best friend which caused there friendship to break up. They were the best of friends, they were so good together both when they hated each other and when they loved each other (a lot of people ship them). They both lost a parent, but whilst Seo Jun was really close to his mother, Su Ho hated his father and wasn't close to anyone. He was the most lonely character in this drama which is why it was perfect that he and Ju Gyeong ended up together, whilst also maintaining an amazing friendship with Seo Jun,
I LOVED the second lead couple. They were the perfect role reversal couple. I loved their screen time and I loved that they didn't take all the screen time (like the second lead couple in Reply 1988), despite the drama showing their relationship from the very start to their marriage at the very end.
I liked Soo Jin at the start, a lot. But there was always something dodgy about her and you could see it. She later became the character I hated most and I didn't think she would be redeemable at all. I wasn't expecting to ever like her again, but at the end I started to love her and you could really see her character development through her expressions alone. Park Soo Na did an amazing job portraying Soo Jin, you could really see the darkness behind her eyes when she was facing a lot of abuse from her family and when she was no longer "good" and became Ju Gyeong's bully. The one thing I couldn't understand about her is how she could so easily betray such a loyal and sweet friend. Which is why I prefer Soo Ah and Ju Gyeong's relationship, the only friendship where Ju Gyeong wasn't betrayed.
I loved the acting in this drama. Despite Cha Eun Woo being criticised for not showing any emotions in this drama, it was his role to play the "cold' character and he did show a lot of emotions as did all the other main leads. All the main leads had at least one really emotional breakdown and I loved how Moon Ga Young portrayed her character, the most emotionally revealing and yet reserved, main character.
