A beautiful story about two lovers overcoming hardships and staying true to each other.
If I had to sum up this show in one word, it would be: BREATHTAKING.I loved everything about this drama. Starting from the world, the costumes, the scenery and the characters. I was in love the moment I started watching the first episode and was immediately captured by the story revolving around Xuanji and Sifeng. Starcrossed Lovers doesn't even come close to describing this tragic couple. I normally don't cry as much watching tv shows as I used to but these two rendered me speechless and turned me into a sobbing mess at times. Sifeng is one of those characters you can't even help but adore and love. Cheng Yi did an incredible job in portraying a tortured young man just trying his best.This self sacraficing cinnamon roll didn't deserve any of the shit he went through, giving up everything for Xuanji so many times. He went through torture, a world of ice, numerous lives being reborn in the human realm while getting killed by the one woman he loves more than himself, seemingly destined to die in each life when he gets even remotely close to said woman. I cried with him, for him, for their tragic love. Crystal Yuan as Xuanji was impeccable as well. Their chemistry on-screen was phenomenal and thus I melted a little every time Sifeng gave Xuanji one of his rare smiles or looked at her in adoration.
The side characters made this drama even more enjoyable, especially Linglong's side arc. I kind of saw myself in her a little and really felt for her. Sifeng's familar, the snake girl (I forgot her name) had me feeling frustrated at times but all she did was for the most selfless reasons and it made me sob.
The soundtrack was perfect and fit each scene incredibly well, especially the emotional ones.
Yeah well, to end this review: This show is a sobbing feast and everyone should suffer the way I had to suffer :)))

Love and redemption
It's really a excellent drama... I have watched it three times until now...still am watching it...every time it's like watching it first tym...i can't feel bored by watching it but more excitement... Cheng yi acting is awesome😊😊... I can guarantee that you will enjoy it alot and music is also so lovely... Each and every scene is a mystery ... I loved the most is SI FENG talking style and eyes... Awwww.. They are so lovely... I can't take my eyes away frm Sifeng and his smile. . .. I am really hoping for season 2 with same cast...Was this review helpful to you?
One of the best romance action costume dramas
Drama is a masterpeice and one of those drama you would wanted to watch till end and would not drop on the way. Acting is very good also writer have done his job with script writing as well. Crystal yuan has done very good job while playing the role of God of War.Story is exciting as much as externel love ten milles of peach... and also Drama is availiable on youtube now with English subtitles.

BEAUTIFULL AND GREAT ROMANCE XIANXIA EVER
its 5 star fo me.. STORYLINE.. THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THE MAIN LEAD WAS TOP NOTCH .. WE CAN FEEL ALL THE EMOTION.. and cheng yi was really good expressing his feeling.. he has soulfull eyes.. that you can feel all the emotion just through his powerfull eyes.. and yuan bing yan also get along with him very well.. it can be said that the essence of this whole drama was their BEAUTIFULL AND LOVELY CHEMISTRY along with their GREAT ACTING potraying their character.. in conclusion its BEAUTIFULL, PEFECT AND HEART WRENCHING STORY .. it took me 6 month to move on from this drama and start watching other cdrama.. and also ad a big fan of xianxia drama.. this is A PERFECT AND TOP XIAN XIA DRAMA so far for me.. THE REWATCH VALUE was not full just because this drama so long so its hard to rewatch again.. just will rewatch good scene not whole of them..Was this review helpful to you?

Surprised by its popularity
I watched this after watching IS of Cheng Yu. I was disappointed of IS a little in later episodes despite great actors and great story start. Considering L&R popularity i was expecting this to be much better but was way more disappointed.What i didnt like
1. ML is there just to get beaten up and saved by FL or get heartbroken by FL. This is reverse of the older shows where FL was there just to be saved by the ML. For gods sake how many times will he get beaten up. Not once was he able to fight back and he is supposed to be a good fighter. uggh.
2. FL is there to be clueless and dumb most time only to become fierce goddess to save ML.
Even her friends and side characters didnt contribute much.
I still managed to watch till end to see atleast once ML doing something but to no avail. Only "redemption" is FL realising her mistake for once at the end.
What I liked
Actors specially ML and FL and SML SFL . they are good . thats it. thats the only good thing about this drama.

Its an OK....just ignore FL
it took me 2 attempts to finish this, Cheng Yi holds this drama on his back the whole time.The FL god of war is the most terrible character only behind the sister. dear god when she is not being a stone face is doing her best to get Sifeng killed.
0 chemestry between her and Cheng Yis character that is your standard, silent, self sacrificing blinded by plot ML.
eEven when I enjoy when chatacters suffer...this was by the cost of 50+ episodes of a stone face FL just theowing a tantrum and lesrning nothing, i really woshed Cheng Yod character to die and never stay with her

Watching Love and Redemption drama chengyi成毅 Yi SiFeng is suffering in 59 episodes , and Cheng Yi depicted those feeling on his face. Unfortunately, Yian Bingyang can't do it. If you pay attention on her face in drama and not on subtitle, you see that
She is female lead but she can't act behind the innocent same as at begging of drama.
She can't make us feel her emotions after regarding her 6 senses.
Im all 59 episodes, Her face exactly same expression, stiff, motionlessness.
as she has hyaluronic filler in face.
Unlike Cheng Yi whose emotions are visible even when he doesn't speak at all.
For example :
After she Zhu Xuan Ji found at Si Feng fake wedding, her face is motionless, without any expression, without feelings, immovable.
Right and after that she is in forest,calm, she stands like she is picking flowers, forest, her face is like doll face, not having any expression.
Si Feng fake wedding is moment when she should be broken.
We should have seen that on her face .
After seeing SiFeng wedding, she should be broken in peaces, and main role actress can't depict any of this on her face.
No tears, no red eyes.
Then, when she was reunited with Si Feng in bed, when he hugged her and decided to be with he
She didn't make any feeling face .
Her face is again immovable. Motionlessness.
Actress yuan Bingyang cant express any of emotions and make us feel what character is feeling.
Is there any actress to be good as Cheng Yi in expressing feelings?

Flying under a radar!
I didn't know this will turn out to be something i can't put down and will be glued to it. I was sad that it got over. Initially i was annoyed with FL as she took everything for granted or acted naïve. But later on she gets better slowly. Also our FL i found it plain looking and not so beautiful whichever angle i see it from. This is a slow burn romance, it takes it's time to get there. I thing i remember clearly is chemistry is off the charts for the leads. Story plot is complex and if you don't pay attention you can easily miss it. I don't write long reviews and dissect each part but that is becoz i don't have the skill :)I only like to write about what struck me the most and stayed with me after watching this few months ago. Definitely go for it if you are like me who enjoys Chinese wuxia dramas.

nice drama
This drama started off really nice and got me hooked from the beginning episodes... the middle was okay and the ending part was awesome, the episodes of misunderstandings felt too long and the male lead sacrificing himself every time was somewhat exhausting but i really liked the drama... although i did skip a lot (i always do with very long dramas), i didn't skip as much as i usually do. many of the characters here are likable. female lead is one of the most bearable chinese dramas have given us in a while (she had only a few episodes of stupidity ONLY). Although the villans were annoying, have to admit they were good looking lol..... the ending was satisfying imo everybody got what they deserved.overall drama quality is up to par with Ten miles of peach blossoms and ashes of love which are my favorites in this genre. the music was lovely as well.

BEAUTIFUL~!! Chaotic yet Fascinatingly Heartwarming and satisfying. <3
I don't know where to start. This drama's probably the longest for me to finish but also one of fhe most worth while of all.Lemme start it by giving my earnest feedback; It all started as a very mysterious and adorable that gradually ended with so much schemes and fighting (Which I love as well). The thing here is that as time passes by you'll start to hate the supposedly 'Good People' due to their over judgement and hypocrisy and that very reason made me felt that bitter hate and distate. Thankfully this drama do provide justice and 'redemption' so almost all of those issue dissipated eventually when it neared its finale.
Secondly, I love how this drama served us different variety of feelings and emotions. It truly entails and showcases different ways and path of life and thought us/me how to look on the brighter side although it may look ridiculous. I feel like this production delivered in every aspect it possibly touched and has successfully handled them accordingly.
Of course, 'NO' drama is perfect and all of them mostly has flaws and broken holes but I feel like this story deserves to be place on a different level; separating it from the rest of it's origin. It is that impactful to me and it has successfully secured a great place in my heart.
Story - 10, The story is a continuous roller coaster of events that can make you feel differently each time but it surely is with a purpose. A well written drama with great plotd and overly irritating Minor 'Supposedly' Protagonist and Main Antagonists. It also overflows with love and tenderness coming from various individuals and their relationship towards the people around them. So much lesson to learn and way of life to appreciate and adapt to.
Acting/Cast - 10, SPECTACULAR!! i love all of the artists in this production. All of them truly delivered and expressed the greatest extent of emotions and actions their characters should present and I can't ask for more. I'm truly moved and triggered. Hahaha~ Special mention to Liu XueYi, as this is the first drama of him that made me hate him to core. Also wanna shower some love and appreciation towards the main leads and the minor leads. They're all splendid.
Music - 10, No discussions needed. Music is Perfect from the first Track till the end. Each and every Music touched and moved me to their own rhythm and melody. I enjoyed it the most among all of the OSTs of over 60+ dramas I watched this year.
Rewatch Value - 10, Solid 10. Highly RECOMMEND! Everything about this drama is spectacular and lovely in it's own way and deserved nothing but recognition, love and support. I would watch it a gazzilion times if needed.
Overall - 10, Any scores lower than 10 is absurd. This drama may not be perfect but there's no such thing as perfect drama and this one is like a cut from a very expensive and royal piece of clothing. Must treasure and protect.

I’m impatient for this
Like I can’t tell you how much laughter and sentimental showed in me while watching this. I cry in every episode. I laugh in every episode. Beautiful scene and good looking cast. I can’t ask for more. The story is just so heart touching. Don’t be fooled by the cover of the drama, at first I didn’t like the cover image, but then I was like maybe it has some good content aside from the cover. Then I fell in love. Ahhhh that day.
