i am crying literally crying not over how amazing or tragic or whatever this drama is but because of the stupidity of the characters. in one word we can give this drama the tile a whole bunch of misunderstandings made on purpose. like shut the hell up just be direct and resolve the misunderstandings but no to drag the drama to 60 eps there was nothing but misunderstanding and trust issues!!!!. i hate the fact that the hero tried to prove his loyalty again and again and again but his "friends" and "lover" just doubted him again and again. i was in support of devils at last. the stupidity of other sects were not in my bear. no investigations just accuse the one who seems the most.. i am like in the 47 eps and crying over my wasted time. but will end this and give review again. and at last i dont even want the male lead to end up with the female lead!!!! NOT LIKE MY EXPECTATIONS ..NOT MY TASTE FANTASY DRAMA
I tried to start this drama after reading some comments about this drama ... but this drama is not like what I imagined so wow ...... far from my predictions ...This drama starts with a more interesting story and then gets more and more absurd (although at first I was a little amazed by those humans who have god-like abilities, but I still try to accept it and think of it as their cultivation style, even though it is true and should not be that far human capabilities should be)
I even recommended this drama on social media at first but as I continued watching it, I started to feel disappointed about it. too much plot hole in this drama.
The story in this drama is exaggerating in my opinion and cannot be logically accepted, even though it is a fantasy drama story but it has exceeded the limits of a fantasy drama in my opinion. humans can behave like gods, gods mingle with humans, as well as demons. as if there are no restrictions between these 3 realms. so that the story in this drama seems a bit chaotic and messy.there is no clarity of where this fantasy drama story will be taken ... humans can find out the origin of their reincarnation easily and it seems like it is something normal in their minds ... with bells they can communicate like now we are using cellphones ... lol ... totally absurd and exaggerating (for those who are still human) humans and gods have the same abilities ... there is no definite boundary between the three realms in this drama.honestly I am very disappointed with the story in this drama ...and once again " vomit blood and get a hurt is the best thing in this drama "especially the ML is very very weak, maybe He is the most weak male character I've see...lol...always get a hurt and vomit blood.
but I like the actors and actresses who play in this drama ... they have very good acting skills. besides that they are all very beautiful and handsome ... but unfortunately the story in this drama really doesn't attract me to be able to continue it anymore ...
Overall I can only give a 4/10 rating for this drama ... and of course I will not continue it anymore especially for rewatched it ..thanks.

NOT XIANXIA DRAMA...THIS IS MOXIA DRAMA... (finished it very disappointed)
at first I thought this is a very heavy fantasy xianxia drama, but after watching it to the end, it is not a xianxia drama but a drama "MOXIA" which focuses the story on mystical things, stealth mixed into the human realm (humans are friends with demons or other kind)This drama explains that the realm of demon is better and has a better character than the realm of the god.. This drama insults the realm of the god and distorts the facts about reality.
story development that is too wordy and boring ... this drama is closer to a kind of children's cartoon story ... and weightless ...
The chemistry between the two main players is also weak. the male lead character is not attractive at all ...
This is the most boring fantasy drama I've ever watched .. (1/10)

I just want to rant, cant I? Lol
Btw I'm not finish watching this. But I really cannot resist myself anymore! 😭 Everytime I see Hao chen from start until now, I feel very annoying. I really wanna block him from my view 😂🤧 but ofcourse I can just skip. Very super annoying. Besides, I don't know why the sects are so helpless. They would focus more to destroy the kind one rather than the real bad. Which is super stewpid & annoying too! They would send a dozen just to deal with the kind one that are powerful one but at the same time weak. But they send just a few to the real bad one who are just as powerful. I don't know whether they even care or not about the najam lamp. They care more about someone they don't have certain confident more. Yeh stupid. But I still gonna watch this. Just to rant here though 🤧🤧. Goodbye then. Was this review helpful to you?
Fantastic drama, but a torture to get through at times
The visual effects and costumes are gorgeous in this drama, and the fantasy elements do not disappoint! In particular, I appreciate that the story doesn't offer stereotypical images of gods and demons (as exclusive symbols of good and evil, respectively). In addition, I love that it explores a variety of current themes using mythological filters (racism, interracial relationships, gender issues, same-sex relationships, etc.)The cast in this drama is fabulous! First, kudos to actor Cheng Yi for portraying the overly self-sacrificing Si Feng with such finesse. He was such a captivating presence and so incredibly expressive, especially in the scenes that conveyed his character’s physical and spiritual suffering! Also, the assortment of villains in this drama is absolutely fantastic! Most of them have interesting layers and motivations, giving the main themes more dimension.
My only criticism is that the storyline tends to be repetitive, especially in the second half. Whoever wrote it must have been a sadist! That is, the romance is centered on continuously torturing and pounding on Sifeng (the male lead), whose commitment to the female lead verges on dangerously toxic. The relationship is fraught with misunderstandings and omissions, to the point it becomes almost unbearable to watch. A side effect, unfortunately, is that the female lead ends up being portrayed as naive, manipulable, and even unintelligent. At times, I found this aspect of the characters’ dynamic to be emotionally draining and vexing.
Still, despite these shortcomings, this drama IS a solid 10 out of 10 (for its great entertainment value), though I do want to mention that personally, I don’t think I could stand to put myself through it a second time.

Such a good drama!
Just finished watching this and what a ride of emotions it was. I love it when i find dramas that are long and so good. I had actually watched like 8 episodes a few months back and i dont know why i stopped watching it but what a mistake it was. This drama has so many episodes and i was afraid that it would get draggy half way through it but i really enjoyed all 59 episodes. There was not one episode where i felt bored or where i skipped scenes. Even tho there is a lot of angst there are also so many cute and happy moments. This is probably my favorite drama of this genre. The story, the acting and the ost were really good. I liked the leads a lot, Si feng and Xuan ji's love is so sad and beautiful at the same time. I'm gonna miss them. Was this review helpful to you?

Supporting Cast Stole the Show
L&R introduced me to some wonderful characters. Hao Chen was the self-righteous ruler of the heavens, covering up his fear, resentment, and covetous nature with a beautiful face and pretty words. Teng She, with his head movements and sibilant speech, was perfection as a snake beast. Wu Tong was dark and menacing, but he managed to evoke my sympathy, although not nearly enough to overcome my repulsion!I've got to admit that the supporting cast carried this drama for me, as I wasn't invested in the FL (she was easily manipulated and didn't trust the man she claimed to love) or the ML (he was self-sacrificing to the point of not having his own identity).
As for the bad, there was a heavy ratio of angst to bliss. The misunderstandings were epically bad. There were so many instances where one sentence of explanation would have changed the entire outcome, but lazy writing struck again! It was frustrating to watch the ML lie to the FL, then feel all butt-hurt when she believed his lies.
I added a half star for the supporting characters and a nice OST.

A must watch
My feelings are absolutely hurt right now. I wanted more episodes. The series was 59 episode which normally is enough for me but by the last two episodes were so revealing and intense that I feel like I needed more. Don’t get me wrong the ending was sweet and perfect in every sense but after all of that, me wanting more simply mean that it was just that good.I would say for some you may get the Romeo and Juliet vibe with the sense of good and evil background however that vibe will most certainly not lead to the ending that Romeo and Juliet actually had. You will get some struggles and hardships but but the outcome is worth it. This series has so much depth and it is so darn heartfelt that you just cannot help but be sucked into it.
The male lead did not fail in any capacity in the series. His acting, his demeanor and his personality match with his appearance or perfect. He played his role well.
The female lead manage to pull up her role as well. The fact that she had to play two different personalities speaks volume about her abilities in terms of acting. She was able to shift from her sweet normal self to her strong and bold self like nobodies business. I really enjoyed her character because she had such a sense of goodness and innocence within her.
Why should you watch this? First of all, it is heartfelt. It is well written. It has so much depth to it. It tugs on so many emotions either love, loyalty, revenge, justice or hate. This series is more than just about the god of war it is really about how an individual often perceives things differently from other people and how one man’s opinion of what is right and wrong can change the world. To me, it was an eye-opener because it shows how some people do things based on their own thoughts without really knowing things and also how people tend to act based on what they think may or may not be without realizing that your actions play a part in what will actually happen. It is in every sense romantic and although there is not a lot of like romantic seems there are some but is more about love and unity and understanding which really encompasses everything. The ending was great as well. You will not be disappointed.

What I did not like about the series was that they didn’t give me more episodes.

My own comparison to Ashes of Love
Inevitable to compare them...- Female Lead: both are lacking in senses but XuanJi seemed more naive and innocent while JinMi looked like a psycho. By far XuanJi is the best one, she can actually fight, she is the God Of War for God's sake, she protects SiFeng like 90% of the times, and her "stabbing" wasn't as insulting as JinMi's. While both are manipulated and gaslighted by other people, XuanJi's situation was more understandable because the others wanted to use her and what better than to guilt-tripping her? JinMi's was just unforgivable. Also, while both of them didn't "feel" anything, XuanJi actually "felt" something for SiFeng, an affinity, friendship, etc. JinMi's supposedly curse was not to fall in love, but it seemed like she actually couldn't feel a thing... XuFeng could die before her eyes and she wouldn't even blink. I think Yuan Bing Yan (XuanJi) was better actress than Yang Zi.. YangZi just had to look pretty with tons of make-up, while Yuan Bing Yan was able to portray the innocent and the resentful GOW at the same time (with a very natural make-up)
- Male Lead: both are "Feng" and have beautiful, golden wings <3 tbh, SiFeng got on my nerves most of the times and I could never really liked him. A hero with a victim/martyr complex? Nah. He didn't care even for his life, as long as XuanJi lived. Bad guys could get away because SiFeng was so forgivable. He was never angry, impatient, resentful... his character was to love Xuanji, unconditionally, only. And of course, to vomit blood every episode. In this case, XuFeng wins by far, being a ML with many flaws (spoiled, resentful, fun, naughty); and while he also loves JinMi unconditionally, when she betrays him, he resents her; when she is being a pain, he rolls his eyes; when she was being silly, he teased her... that's what I liked in their romance. I also didn't like most of the times the make-up on SiFeng... 90% of the times his eyebrows were awful, not to mention his lips either full of blood, or totally white.
- Romance: saccharine and dramatically sweet in L&R; playful and dramatically sweet in AOL; the big plus in L&R is that there is no RunYu; the big plus in AoL is that they have a whole arc of being sweet and romantic with no rivals at all (except a bit of SuiHe but she loses very soon :D) I think there was more chemistry between the leads in AoL than in L&R.
- Supporting Characters: both have good supported friends and awful villains. In L&R we have several, like Teng She (who provides the comedic relief), the merman, brother Liu, and Wu ZhiQi was underdeveloped, or he would have been amazing too. And Purple Fox was the voice of reason! Demon Lord was so good I wished he was the main character :( I really disliked LingLong, she was so annoying and I couldn't understand why MinYan would love her, but she loved her sister and her own story was so painful and it made me cry :( It made me crazy to read comments in Viki saying Linglong had all the fault.. the fault of being RAPED? Because that is what that disgusting WuTong did.. he RAPED her. I hated him the most grrr. So the 2nd couple is much better in L&R, the 2nd couple in AoL was boring and I just wanted Muci to die, but the princess was so good :(
- Villains: honestly the villains in L&R were disgusting. WuTong was the most repulsive of all of them; Bailin the most disgusting of all but as manipulative as RunYu was anyway, the sect leaders were all stupid and useless, and worst of all, most of these villains do not get what they deserved. I honestly couldn't believe that that asshole Bailin made a mess of everything for more than 50 episodes, thought he was right (like a Nazi) and in the final episode, realizes he was wrong, has a minor punishment while all his men cry. Whut. The sect leaders were all manipulative and behave awfully with Sifeng, and then you have them in the final episode cheering for SiFeng and XuanJi, all good friends... Whut.
- OST: the good thing about xianxia, as far as I can see, is their OST. L&R has an excellent OP song but the ED is even better. But my favorite of all of their soundtrack is "Love Like Colored Glass" by Zhou Shen. So beautiful and moving. Nevertheless, there would be no song that would beat Sa DingDing in the near future. This song is just THE BEST, period. Besides, AoL has songs performed by YangZi and Deng Lun.
- Plot: there is no winner in this. I love that AoL has 3 arcs, but I also like that L&R is mostly in Human Realm. Both of them have very draggy parts and a better first half than second half, and both of them have very nice CGI. Both of them could have been at least 10 episodes shorter.

Impressive, really deserves its success.
I usually never write reviews, but this drama has left me in awe. At first, I was skeptical; not going to lie, but I'm not a huge fan of the female lead. Over the past two years, I've seen/heard so many good reviews, and finally watched it. Wow. I am ABSOLUTELY mind-blown. There are so many plot twists, and the story is very captivating. The acting by Cheng Yi (male lead) will make you absolutely head-over-heels for him. **NOTE** if you don't really like the "misunderstandings" trope... well lets just say this drama could be titled "Love and Misunderstandings"... haha. However, the plot and everything else will just make you... go CRAZY for them! One thing I will say, is the amount of times the male lead spits out blood is a little... haha. I would say this drama is on the same level as Ashes of Love, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, etc. It's really a masterpiece. I have yet to rewatch it yet (because I don't want my heart to break again for Si Feng... ) but I know I will be rewatching it soon. Trust me. You will NOT regret watching it. Don't worry- it's a happy ending!
