Yeah, the story wasn't anything new, but how they showed it was cool. It reminded me of Alice in Borderland, I guess. I loved getting to know the characters, their feelings, and everything was great. But, like, there are tons of other good K-dramas that are way better. I got a little bored in the middle, but the last few episodes were good. I liked the plot twists. But I don't think the second and third seasons are worth it. I didn't like the second season at all. It wasn't my thing.

When I say good dramas, I mean stuff like Strangers from Hell, Happiness, Death Game... those are way better to be famous on the global level.

Nah, I probably won't watch this drama again, and I don't usually rewatch stuff anyway.

The ending is disappointing

The show is simple and clearly not original and based on something else.

In a lot of ways it was predictable. What I enjoyed the most was the acting, the moments of revenge, and the few bonds that were made.

The ending of the very last episode makes me so irritable. But I get it. It's a man who is torn between being a father and saving people from going through what he did, and chose the "honorable" role.

It's true, you never know when there will be good people, but you can't really stop someone from their addictions unless they want to stop themselves they will just go back. So having a savior complex will not really help nearly as much as he thinks it will. And he could instead focus on his kid. But I get it. He will be Jesus and save the world because he feels called to do so. Whoop de doo! Not sure if I'll watch the next 2 seasons. I was dreading watching this ever since it came out. And so I watched it to be able to say that I did, and to not be annoyed by all of the skits and posts people make about it. Now I get the hype. But the hype was brief. The Marble episode was the only one that really affected me. The rest was extremely predictable and lacking in depth.

But I get it, I really do. Humans lust for money, yeah I know. If you want to learn a lesson about life and greed, watch this show. But if you already know that it serves no purpose in the long run, you might not find this to be as meaningful.

Welp! That's pretty much all I have to say. Have a good day!

Absolutely recommend this show

This show was amazing but sad we lost Byeok near the end and it does show that people will do anything for money even if it involves death and playing games, not only this but it also shows how close people become near the end and it made me cry to see Ji Yeong sacrifice herself to Byeok in the marble game and for Byeok to get stabbed by Sang Woo. Yeah it might be bloody and gory, but it was amazing and I cannot wait for season 2 and hope we get to see the actress for Byeok but maybe she plays a new character and also the actress for Ji Yeong too please, I knew it was a popular show and my mum never allowed me to watch it until I watched it secretly on KissAsian website, now I don't regret watching it because I loved it.

each ep basically had me close to shitting bricks and i learned multiple lessons to not like someone who will just die. that's the whole point, but, you know. i still end up doing so

Gripping Story & Compelling Characters

All hail the show that first got me interested in k-dramas!

❤ If you're looking for an action-packed story with a grim dark setting, you've come to the right place. Squid Games is not for the feint of heart - it's gruesome, visceral, and haunting with lots of on-screen violence and gore.

❤ OMG, the characters were utterly unforgettable. Some will break your heart; some will betray you; and some will make you want to scream and laugh all at the same time. The characters are multi-faceted with understandable motives. It can be quite unnerving to understand why a character is acting a certain way even as their actions put others in dangerous or perilously situations.

❤ All of the actors gave powerhouse performances, but I have to give an extra amount of credit to Lee Jung Jae as Seong Gi Hoon. I disliked him so much during the first episode, but he somehow managed to turn me into his fan by the end of the series.

❤ The setting, music, and general vibe was atmospheric and haunting. No expense was spared on the production, and it showed. It had such a polished look and feel as to make everything feel very, very real.

❤ This has a lot of social commentary looking at the problems and challenges people face in a society that has pretty much ignored or cast them off. It certainly is thought provoking.

A legacy of its own

Squid Game is among the best series to come out. This is an ode to not only the fantastic storyline but to also the uniqueness of it. Thrillers often blur the line of society as a complex and evolve to become just hollow spheres of action and melodrama which happens with a lot of mainstream world class production level thrillers.

Squid Game with its rootedness in the idea of childhood games evolved into the run for money as a rat race tells a story that will transcend the boundaries of psyche and human nature. It answers and tells a story that will forever remain attached to its viewers. Watching the series is a difficult task with its triggers but it is also thrilling and not possible to be left midway with how addicting it is.

Flawed yet fulfilling characters, storylines for each of them that take place in varied senses, the emotive value of it, all of it is masterfully done.

I like it but didn't love it

They did a great job with the creepiness of it all, the directing, acting and music were all very well done. I suppose my main issue was the story, it often didn't make sense and the ending was kinda disappointing, especially the final game. I ended up fast forwarding a lot of scenes, particularly in the latter half of the show, because they were too dragged out or just felt irrelevant. I can see why it's popular though, it just wasn't for me.

Slow Burn

I watched this back in grade 11 and never got to review it so now looking back nearly 5 years later, I have a few thoughts.

The show started off on a strong foot until you get to the marble game. All the events after that kinda felt lackluster. After Ali’s death, it was like no one knew what to do, he felt like an important character to the story.

After Sae-byeok’s death (I miss you wifey) they should’ve just ended it

Nah, I’m just kidding but the ending genuinely just felt out of place

It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt

I feel this was a very good drama and it did deserve all the love it gets and deserves so have so many seasons. I seriously loved this drama so much for some reason because something about it was very exciting to watch. I will warn you that there may be spoilers so be aware.
I really like the plot of people being in debt, but you’re competing for 456 billion won which is a lot and can help anyone get out of their debt. I will say that killing people for money is not the way I would want to earn money in order to get out of debt. Also I literally cried so much during the marble game because it was so sad that you had to kill your best friend or a random person in a certain amount of time so it was based on friendship, trust, betrayal, and loyalty. I cried once Saebyeok had to leave without Ji Yeong because they were such good friends and it was like you’re leaving your best friend behind. I also was so sad for Ali because Sang U literally betrayed him by taking all of his marbles and acting like nothing happened. I was also so sad once II Nam was eliminated because I thought he was a literal nice old man, but turns out he was the creator of the games and wanted it to happen because he wanted to play his childhood games one more time and he wanted to play because he thought it was going to be fun. Also Hwang Jun Ho is a baddie in my opinion because he literally went into the island just to search for his brother, but instead found him and got shot by him. Also I feel so bad for player 456 because he had to win while losing people he made friends with during the time that they were in squid games. Overall, squid game season 1 was filled with emotion that you don’t see in a normal drama, but I can’t wait to finish season 2 and see season 3.

Squid Game: 12/30/2024 ~ 12/31/2024

The whole concept of this show is something that is unique, but it also deals with many heavy topics. We see many characters who are struggling financially and are heavy debt which leads them to join the games. We also shockingly see that these aren’t regular games but instead kids games where if you lose you die. Through the show we see many things happens such as friendships being formed, as well as alliances. We even see how some people try to cheat but this game has a weird way of fairness even though it is twisted in itself. As can be expected we see many people die, many of who we grow to love this being through loosing a game, betrayal, or even sacrifice. We also see how these conditions slowly break about the people and change them into someone they can’t recognize. In the end we have a tragic ending as we learn only one can survive and this makes everything seem pointless to MC especially when he leaves. We also learn that someone we thought was his friend inside the games wasn’t but instead the mastermind behind everything. This leads to the season to end with the MC wanting to get revenge. He however is not the only character we follow as we also follow a police officer who is looking for his brother. He learns about the games through the MC and decides to sneak in and see if his brother died in these games. Through him we see another side of the games that the players don’t. We find out that these games are done to entertain the rich who become bored of regular entertainment. Also we learn the truth about what happened to his brother and the police officer also experiences his own betrayal.

Show is good!

Storyline is good but ending was little confusing with the old man (number one) as being the previous master of the game. The storyline should of added more detail of the relationship between the current master and the cop. I don't know if the relationship are actually brothers or friends. But overall I can't wait for season two to come out. Maybe it will give me some ideas to how number one was the person who made this game. Also will the director show the same games in season two like in season one?

best series

I stayed up all night watching it and I'm a little groggy now. The movie is roughly sixteen-years long, but well worth it! It's a twisty psychological-thriller and black-comedy that keeps you guessing as to what will happen next. Chan Wook-Park keeps the momentum going with his breath-taking cinematography, shocking twists and gleefully black humor. I watched it until well after midnight and had no idea how much time had passed until it was over whereupon I collapsed on my bed only then realizing how sleepy I was. I didn't noticed at any point during the movie. Thanks again, Mr. Park for blessing us movie fans with your mad genius!
