finally found the thread. back reading previous comments . we need to appreciate this character as he's our main male lead and has most screentime. I really like how wanyi portray him . Ruthless at some times. Vulnerable as some times. I think he's the most emotionally tortured hero although he's ambitious for good reason. 

CX and XY are fated to be allies, not lovers.

But he has one sided romantic feeling for her.  the way he's jealous of Jing is something .  But i think maybe if he is not too into throne or be with her at good timing , she may have reciprocate those feeling but then he would not become the Cang Xuan we know. I am YaoJing ultimate shipper. But i guess i have sort of attachment to his character maybe because he's most screentime ?

For me it's because CX never told her frankly and simply her true man's feelings. And also XiaoYao would have had aknowledge that they are not real Cousins/Gege power => much earlier.

Because when she meet her man's trio firstly when she was still a man - it was a close timing for them/all to get equitable a chance than. And it would have been a perfect timing for her too to learn her true parenting line at that moment  somehow...To even take time to , while still in a man body, probe them all...

He would than have equitable chances to win her heart:):
