Stirs up your emotions
I greatly appreciate the depth the actors bring to their characters in this series. I have a particular fondness for Tushan Jing among all the male lead roles. While I understand that he may not resonate with everyone, I personally think he's doing an incredible job in his role. The interactions between Tushan Jing and Xiao Yao never fail to bring a smile to my face. Their chemistry is truly captivating, and I find their scenes heartwarming. The thought of them working together in another fantasy romance series brings me joy. I am eagerly anticipating the second season to see what unfolds next. Was this review helpful to you?
Game of Thrones
Overall it was a good series. I enjoyed watching. However, there were exaggerations in some places, and things that should not be in other places. We watched Yang Zi. as a male for the first 20 episodes. It was like a different episode. Afterwards, the series fell apart a bit. When it was learned that she was a woman and dressed in this outfit, she was surrounded by three men. Everyone took advantage of the girl as if they were getting honey from the flower. It didn't happen to me. Such a female figure does not suit her. Someone is sucking your blood. He takes it the way he wants. beating. It's dragging. Another is acting like a slave. Another does not remove hair from his nose. Then the immortals were supposed to be, but the girl died, the man she loved died. They were resurrected. It has become the fantastic of the fantastic. These were exaggerated. Now, if it is not right for a woman to act against someone who saves her and bring her back to life, the fact that the woman who treats her well is bad, but the fact that the person she calls her brother has an egotistical approach to kill her without knowing her, causes the woman to become attached to this man at the level of love. A huge discord. Opposition. I couldn't form a bond. People have little conscience. Availability of women is another matter. I didn't like these. I loved her devotion to Jing, and her inability to connect with her grandmother and the person who was touted as engaged was irritating the story, so to speak. The woman is cheating. Even though Jing knows that he is trying to kill the Prince, he does not go into those matters. She doesn't make a point of her brother trying to kill her. He remains a spectator to the woman's relationship with him. Which your brother's wife was going to say, but I think she was killed. We didn't see it. They said that he does not look like a child, but that intelligent and spiritual personality never awakens. Could such purity exist? What kind of a leader is he, as well as a very smart, intelligent, personality, wise person. In other words, these were not taken into account when processing the characters. The pen is gone, the screenwriter. And let's come to the main topic; The Kingdom of Xiyan has become a complete Games of Thrones. My clothes were stolen from them. Second, they became like members of their government. Clans. Approaches of men and women who are related to each other. Your grandfather's behavior and clothing in the same figure as those Kings. It's Chinese work, there's no glamor to it. Where are those silks? A dark palace has been created. Suitable for him are sons, grandchildren, princesses and so on. I thought I was watching Game of Thrones. It's very obvious. I think it will be the second season of the series. Cang became King. He was also surprised. I think the fights will continue. Just like in Game of Thrones. Of course, if I'm lucky, I'll watch that season too.Was this review helpful to you?
OVeRHYPED. SILLY PLOT
I am impressed with myself for managing to watch 20 episodes of this show, all thanks to TJC. Although the beginning was good, the story went downhill later on. I must say the actress did an outstanding job portraying her character, but the plot was disappointing.1. It made no sense to develop a romantic relationship between CX and XY when they were shown as bro-sis from the start. They had no chemistry.
2.TJ was a dead weak af character. I tried my best to like him, but I couldn't.
3.XL was a better match for her (but he too was a big red flag but all of us love a red flag), but knowing that he was not the endgame stopped me from continuing to watch the show.
Sorry to say but this goes in my list of worst cdramas.
*** This is my opinion you don't have to agree with me. ***

Wasted potential
I quit this drama around episode 10. I pondered this decision for a long time, because in terms of cinematography, costumes and, most importantly, set design, the drama looks far above average. I abandoned this drama because of the plot, which literally and figuratively is torture. You know, I have nothing against violence, suffering, good torture scenes, but what's too much is unhealthy. Tormenting someone for the sake of tormenting someone is just boring and unpalatable. I think by the third episode I was already fed up with how the creators non-stop emphasize how miserable and tragic FL is. That's the only theme of this drama - she is unhappy, lonely, betrayed. Instead of a healthy relationship between the four main characters, we have BDS&M. Literally. I tried to like any of the 4 main characters, but I can't, because there are more negative traits in any of them than positive ones. In the first episodes I got curious about Little 17, in the next episode they show that he's an asshole. You know, showing the hero's journey from bad to good is cool, but not when all 4 main characters are bad from the beginning. I can accept that I haven't learned the motivations of each of the 3 men so far, but not that I still don't know the motivations of FL.
There are no dynamics here. Every scene is shot at exactly the same pace. It doesn't matter if they are fighting each other or talking at a table, if she is running away through the woods or he is erotically sucking the blood out of her - everything is devoid of dynamics, as if in slow motion, which is tedious and annoying. The pace should change, give the viewer some adrenaline, then a moment to calm down to attack again with something dynamic. Monotony kills interest.
In conclusion - technically the drama is nicely done. I very much appreciate the open air (but the green screen is bad). The plot could have been interesting if it wasn't so monotonous, depressing, beating around the head with the idea of "you're supposed to love FL because she's had a hard life and is so weak that she couldn't even save the cat" (save the cat is the motive). If the pace and characters of this story were varied, more dynamic instead of torturously pathetic, this drama would really be excellent. But it isn't. It is boring. On top of that, the music, which is average and of which there is simply too much, is terribly tiresome. I've watched 10 episodes and can't recall a single pleasant scene. I don't see any point in torturing myself further.

I am loving this.
I watched this primarily because of YZ, she's my favorite chinese actress. But love it the more i watch the episodes. Love the story (simple but with depth and heart). The cast is amazing even the young xiayao and xuan and the other actors in episode 1 are all great. Yang Zi has matured a lot in her acting, more depth and understanding of the emotions she's expressing. The male leads did not disappoint either. Love each of their characters. Love the set design, cinematography, the script. Kudos to all involved in the production. Can't wait for the next episodes. Was this review helpful to you?
Story Disconnected Ep 1 to 2
I am lost watching this story. It starts out with nice costumes, beautiful effect and settings. Then the woman involved with 4 men. As a Chinese born in the Chinese Opera, I know of a good and bad story. Most Chinese movies and drama have been concerned with kung fu and fighting. But they don't focus on making story strong as Korean Drama.Chinese productions are very choppy and too much talking that dragging forever. What is the story? What happened t the little girl the gap between she left and grew up in a man clothes?

Definitely must watch over and over again
I'm hooked they really did a great job portraying each of their character very well! From the story, their visuals, bgm, cinematography effect and especially their acting! Can't contain my happiness how close the drama from the novel... It was the same as what I imagined while reading the novel last year and I did reread the novel for 5x already... The novel was beautifully written and the drama is perfectly done... The minor changes gave justice to the drama story flows... The FL is the best among the rest... She doesn't care about her own image or visuals to gave life of her character and no questions ask about her acting she really nailed it, it's getting better and better from one drama to another she did from the past. She's great! The male leads also did a wonderful great job... Love them all...

abuse for the sake of abuse.
Although the acting and the production value of the drama is good, and Yang Zi has a really strong performance, it doesn't change the fact that this romance drama sensationalizes female abuse. We are shown in careful detail how a bunch of men who are trying to fight each other instead end up beat up the FL every time, since she's stuck in the middle trying to help everyone. And she forgives them over and over. What a dreamy scenario.Every two episodes contain scenes of torture or violence against the FL that really aren't necessary for the plot. Two out of the 4 ML basically cause her injuries almost every time they meet. One NPC man tortured her in a dungeon for years. What's more the drama shows that she forgives the abuse and depicts her abusers as romantic, especially for one of the ML.
It says a lot about the societal values of China that so many people are into both the book and drama version of this kind of story.

Lost You Forever? Congrats, you really did!
This came highly recommended, with glowing reviews and sky-high ratings that practically dared me to dive in. The premise promised a rich blend of wuxia, reverse harem intrigue, and a gender-bending lead—what’s not to love? But five episodes in, I was already eyeing the exit. My thumb hovered over the “drop” button like it was a lifeline. I told myself to be patient, that maybe the magic would kick in soon. Instead, my fast-forward thumb got more of a workout than my attention span, and by the halfway mark, I finally threw in the towel. To be fair, the production is gorgeous. The cinematography is lush, the costumes are exquisite, and the acting is solid across the board. Even Yang Zi—who’s never been my favorite—won me over with her performance as the male physician Xiao Liu. She brought charm and grit to the role, and for a moment, I thought maybe this drama would redeem itself. But charisma alone couldn’t justify wallowing through a plot that felt like it was wandering in circles. This story could’ve easily been told in half the runtime.
Then came the kicker: there’s a second season. Because apparently 39 episodes weren’t enough to wrap up this slow-motion saga. That revelation didn’t feel like a cliffhanger—it felt like a trap. My decision to quit felt less like giving up and more like reclaiming my time.
Watching this drama is like driving down an endless highway while Bob Ross narrates a painting tutorial. Undeniably pretty, but not exactly riveting. There’s potential in its tropes, but with pacing this glacial, I couldn’t bring myself to keep going. Beautiful, yes—but forever is a long time to be this bored.

Epic Novel, Hope Drama is Equally Epic
I watched a few episodes for Tan Jianci. Was curious and ended up reading the translation of the novel by Koala's Playground - TWICE. OMG, am now obsessed with LYF and Xiang Liu. The writer Tong Hua is also doing the screenplay and so far the episodes have been pretty good. I prefer this to TTEOTM and LBFAD, both of which I dropped halfway. The drama isn't a straightforward romance. There are issues of identity, abandonment, ambition, envy, and plenty of imperial intrigue and maneuvering. Hope the drama lives up to the novel which is just fantastic.

Too much romanticizing violence
I started to immediately dislike it when the white hair guy was introduced. He literally tortures the fl with 40 lashes without any particular reason then Erotically sucks her blood everytime they meet.. and guess what he becomes a love interest for her. I would have still watched it if the actual ml a interesting character.. but no he is a " years mam" simp with zero backbone...And she seems like a easy woman when she is with the white haired guy..
It hurts me when ever I see people supporting the guy.. puke

It was a fun ride
There's so much I could say, but overall, I loved everything about season 1. Here are some highlights:'Acting with one's eyes and subtle movements. ' So many of the actors/actresses in the cast are able to convey complex emotions through simple movements and their eyes. It's very moving and captivating.
Beautiful clothing, hairstyles.
Memorable dialogue.
Heartbreaking reunions. When XY thought she saw her mom again, I cried so hard. That was the hardest I cried throughout the drama. It was everything I thought it was going to be. The emotions were captured so well.
Yang Zi. What can I say, I don't think I have ever watched a drama that she was the lead in that I didn't like.
All in all, 10/10.
