In this biographical drama, the waning Manchurian dynasty crowns a young princess, but she is soon sent away to Japan. Adopting the name Yoshiko Kawashima, she fully embraces Japanese culture. Exhibiting unusually eccentric and assertive behaviour, she frequently begins dressing in men's clothes. Eventually, she marries a Mongolian prince but has numerous affairs and becomes a Japanese agent, working closely with Chinese nationalist Fook back in her unfamiliar homeland.
