This is the cutest rom-com to hit our screens in a while!

Imagine all possible tropes: false identities, gender bender, weird sickness, forced cohabitation, noble idiocy, lots of leaning in, arm grabs, accidental kisses, cringey near miss kisses but all done so well! I love every fluffy, cliche-filled episode! Despite the cheesiness, this lighted-hearted and hilarious show drew me in with its focus on the romance and friendship between the characters. For me, it's a perfect break from heavy melodramatic wuxia or xianxia shows. A few highlights for me:

1) The show is so easy to watch with no angst, major plot twist and no villains. There truly are no bad guys, not even ones that I would consider annoying. Even the mum starts off stern and forbidding but is a softie who loves her son and ultimately supports the OTP all the way.

2) The ML finds out that the FL was a girl in disguise very early on in the show!!! That makes the plot more believable as the ML plays the silent protector role and helps the FL out of awkward situations. That said, it still makes me laugh how most of the other characters do not seem to notice that this petite, lovely feminine person is not really a boy. What makes it even funnier is how obvious it is that Sang Tian is wearing lipstick, even when dressed as a boy.

3) Eye candy galore - my favourite are Darren Chen (my favourite flower boy - Hua Zi Lei in Meteor Garden!) and Li Jiu Lin whose chiseled look won me over after he played Dylan in You are My Destiny. However, the rest of the ice hockey team (seniors and freshmen) are very easy on the eyes as well, including Xiao Xiao, who's more adorable than handsome. He has the dimples to win one's heart. Even Shen Qiao Di with his unsmiling face, is icy attractive! Of course, Sebrina Chen as Sang Tian is pretty but makes the most adorable boy. I actually prefer her in short hair. Then we have Zhang Yu Xi, who's absolutely gorgeous, as well as Vivian Sung, who looks so much prettier here than in Lost Romance.

4) Great OST - the songs are well-selected and fitting for the scenes. I even downloaded YouTube Music so that I could add the songs to my playlist.

5) Meteor Garden throwback - "If apologies worked, would the police be needed?" - LOL I couldn't believe that Darren Chen as Wen Bing, actually quoted Dao Ming Si!

Acting-wise, the two leads nailed it! It is almost as though the parts were written for those two actors, and they have great chemistry together. Darren Chen played Wen Bing well with his haughty demeanor that outwardly shows arrogance and narcissism but inwardly is meant to hide his illness. As a confident, swoon-worthy, tsundere, heart-of-gold male lead, Darren really got his micro-expressions on point, and his soft gazes towards Sang Tian are just so meltingly endearing. Wen Bing can be quite the tease, and at the same time, he is not immune to the green-eyed monster. Between Sang Tian and him, there are many hilarious misunderstandings and hijinks that guarantee lots of laughter. Sang Tian, with her positive outlook and naiveté, is just too cute for her own good. She is quite the scatterbrain, but she is not your typical weak FL. She is brave and loyal, and she has no problem standing up to Wen Bing and Shen Shao Di. It's not surprising that she won over her ice hockey team-mates, coach, and everyone else. I love that Sang Tian does not try too hard to be all-male and is just rolling with it. Sebrina Chen is fabulous, playing the dual characters in both looks and attitude. What's impressive is how different she looks as the pretty boy compared to her real girl self.

Also central to the story are the secondary romances that are fun to watch. The drama also showcases the friendship among the team members. The entire cast did a great job, and there is definitely great rapport among them.

I would re-watch the whole show since I love swooning over the super-cute OTP and giggling at the antics of the team members and Sang Tian's brother.

Overall, this show is very easy to binge-watch! It is the perfect pick for when you want to relax and feast your eyes on beautiful people.

A winner from the first episode

From the first episode, I knew that I was gonna love this drama and it didn't disappoint.

This coming of age drama has very little angst. The leads' OTP status continues to get validated from the first kiss until the last scene. They were very much protected by their protagonists' halos and everything worked out fine in the end of them. Side characters moved on easily and had their own romances. Conflicts were resolved in 1-2 episodes.

This is the most manly role Darren Chen ever had as ML in my opinion. I liked that he never overacted. If his character was portrayed by another actor, it would have been annoying, but with him and his dimples, WenBing came off as mischievous but still caring. Sabrina Chen as the FL Sangtian had a really good chemistry with him. The accidental kisses, playful banters and teasing confessions were nicely executed. I just sometimes felt that Sabrina seemed uncomfortable with her hockey stick, but I chose to overlook it.

Uh... Okay

Honestly, started watching this after seeing Darren in Meteor Garden. And I've never seen this actress anywhere else. So this review is solely based on this drama ONLY.
It was cute, I'll admit. You'll see a lot of blue, pink and purple on the screen. But the story as a whole was cliche and kinda predictable. Also, I'd say that Darren somewhat made me annoyed with his bratty actions. And the girl was cheesy and cliched person, probably never moved on from the teenager hormonal self. She was too jumpy and too much talkative for my liking. I did like the second lead better, but definitely not his elder brother. He was a certified asshole with a face like an ASS.
But still, it was bearable.

Cheesy romance

Story contains almost every cheesy romantic trope there is and a lot is predictable. It was interesting in the first half and then became a bit boring. Don't even remember laughing at any stage even with genre including comedy.

This is for someone that don't mind cheesy romance around every corner. There's isn't really much to this series other than romance, the rest is just things to fill the episodes and my rating therefore only 7 overall.

There's also no real chemistry between any of the couples. Some of the characters that were supposed to be seniors and older family acted childish and assume this was how the characters were written. Actors did ok but nobody really stood out for me personally. Acting therefore 7.5

Its a easy watch and you don't really need to concentrate too much.

Production and Visual FX : average with mainly campus setting. 7 rating

OST wasn't memorable at all. 7 rating

Rewatch value: very low

Lock up your IQ & watch the drama.

Overall production quality is good. Story is below average. How can they come up with a non reasonable storyline with poor execution. When blending a fantasy - reality story line, you should either provide logical reasoning or emotional reasoning. Iam a great fan of chinese fantasy... But it's such a huge disappointment.

Best.Drama.EVER

Ok so this is one of the best dramas I've watched and will always love because I love the chemistry between the leads. I love the actors (especially Darren Chan) and I love how cheesey and fluffy this show is.
And don't even get me started on the MUSIC.
The OST is absolutely AMAZING.
All in all I absolutely recommend this drama 100%. I feel really bad for people who didn't enjoy it cos they really missed out.
So I hope whoever is reading this won't aswell.

Best points:
1.the chemistry
2.cheesy scenes (but not too cheesy that it's cringe)
3.the OST
4.darren Chen (of course)
5.the story

The only thing that just bothered me was too many accidental kisses. But I don't personally mind it's just logically that's so many.
But as someone who loves dramas with LOTS of kisses, I love it.

Slow Burn with Little Pay Off

Past me: 4 stars

How we got 6 stars:
-nothing was wrong with acting, well casted
-Music was really nice, added them to my playlist (find on youtube)
-like crossdressing trope personally

How we did not get the rest of the stars:
Slow burn romance:
they get together in the last 2 episodes. The rest is just them flirting, which really isn't that satisfying. For me, a good ending should have a marriage or a proposal of marriage.

Actually the ~parents~ (trying not to spoil) tried separating them and it was really really painful. I actually took a break for a month and then skipped the painful part to the confession. It dragged so long.

Also, there was a lot of parts that just seemed plain dumb.

In general, I like Chen Yao. She was really good in Maiden Holmes. Hope to see more of her. Those stars are partly for her. I actually didn't like the ml that much. He was a little annoying at times.

If you like slow burn with little pay off, here you go!

Maybe I watched this in the wrong mood. Small chance of rewatching just to see if past me was right...

I'm bored so just decided to watch anything spontaneous & here I come to My Unicorn Girl. So I start this drama expected nothing & nothing I get in return. If you say this is quite cliché... yes maybe it is. But is that cliché make me bored when watch this drama? No, not really. Do I enjoy my ride watch this drama? You can say so. But nothing special from this drama that can make it stand out too.

What I like from this drama, but also in the same time make me bored watch this drama is...
They have no problem. This is one drama that really lack of problem, a really peaceful drama. No love rival, no stupid jealousy, not even when Sang Tian identity as a woman uncovered they make it into bigger problem. So yeah if you look for this type of drama, you'll gonna love this drama.

What a big problem to me is the hockey part of the drama. They make it look so easy to be a professional hockey player. They just do the bare minumum exercise for the player, nothing even when you compare it with Skate Into Love or any other sport related drama.

The character here you can describe as don't judge the book by it's cover. Everyone like has other personality within themselves. Like Meng Na, she is one feminine girl, but turn out she likes to play online games or Coach Ma who we see as tomboy girl but turn out she has girly side when we looked at her house.

How about our main lead...? I quite like them, their chemistry I don't say all over the top, but yeah they quite fit as a couple. Quite like Wen Bing, he quite mischievous but at the same time he really know how to protect the one that he loves.

Overall this is just one drama to spend your days, nothing a miss even you don't watch this....

Sweet, but maybe too much sweetener used..?

This is very lighthearted and easy to watch, and quite sweet. I see some other reviews mentions clichés. For me, it was simply put a bit too "fake", ranging from the snowmen to the voice-overs. If you want something sweet and innocent to watch, where you don't have to think, then go for it. I don't regret watching it, and I did finish it rather fast, but I will not be watching it again.

The story is on the weak side, even if you overlook the cross-dressing plot. There were just quite a few other small things where I was like "huh?".
The acting was a bit sugar-coated for my liking as well. Or I guess it is more proper to say that the characters were too over-the-top, so I guess the actors nailed it! Ha ha.

Actually quite enjoyable

Alright so I watched this because I honestly just didn’t know what to watch, and I actually liked it quite a lot.

Cast: I was a little unsure about the choice for the Main actor, I liked him in Meteor Garden, but I didn’t feel like his acting was that great as to portray a leading role, however, be it because his previous role was not challenging enough, or because he got some more coaching, I absolutely loved him in this one. At some point I even forgot that he’s the same dude who played the rather monotonous Huaze Lei in Meteor Garden. In the End I don’t think I could imagine another actor playing his role in this one. Of course he wasn’t perfect to every detail but he gave his character so much charm.
As for the female lead, I really loved the actress that played her. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Drama where they put so little effort into making her “look male” and she still looked the part (like a pretty young man), she also acted very well as a young girl who disguises herself as a man, to me it made sense that most of the other characters took her for a man, that’s what I’m trying to say.

As for the side characters, I thought it was interesting to see so many known faces, playing side characters, they all did very well.

Plot: Now this is what is interesting, watching this I had this constant “manga” feeling. The entire plot, everything that happened and how it was portrayed looked 1:1 like a manga made into a TV Drama. This was really interesting, and also kind of entertaining on one side, but it also means that there were some parts that did not make a whole lot of sense, seen as a TV Series. Like there are things you can do in Mangas, that only work in Mangas, for example people finding stuff out but then seemingly forgetting about it for the next few Episodes/chapters; very crazy ways of punishment, that might make a romantic scene in a Manga but are just kinda over the top put on film, and so on. Let’s say sometimes it felt a little too unrealistic.

As for the main couples story and their development, I vastly liked how it developed, I liked their chemistry, and the plot that “connected them” was also quite entertaining. However it did feel a little too slow-burn at some point in later episodes. There was one scene where I literally thought, just get it together already. There was also a little (in my eyes) unnecessary Drama added, but it was solved quite quickly so it’s no big deal.

Now there’s one part to this storyline which I personally enjoyed, because it underlined the thought of “命中注定” (something like destiny/meant to be together), however I feel like this part might be problematic in the eyes of some people, who experience the the thing they used to tie the Leads together. (Sorry for being vague I don’t want to spoiler, you will understand if you watch it). To me it added nicely to the kind of unrealistic “meant to be” love story that this Drama was telling, but it might feel a bit tasteless to other people.

I also vastly enjoyed the side stories, they weren’t explored too deep, to me it felt just right.

I also enjoyed the athletic side storyline, it didn’t feel boring at all, and gave the Drama some nice extra plot, apart from the love-line.

All in all this was a nice, unrealistically ‘romantic’ Drama, that didn’t feel too long nor too short. It’s the kind that you can really enjoy the first time around, but I would not necessarily watch it a second time.
