YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!
My FAVOURITE Korean drama of all time!!! The staring eyes part happened a lot, and I loved it. Their chemistry is above all, and even their faces are quite similar to each other. I love them so much. The story is very touching and makes me cry sometimes. They also show the patient's story and how they improve themselves towards the end of episodes, which is such a great touch. This drama's OST is the best I've ever heard. It made me repeat the OST all the time I felt sad and lonely. The greatest one All of the leading characters play their parts so well. Even though I'm a bit annoyed with the second female lead, through the end, she's becoming more tolerated and quite cute. On top of that, the Sangtae character is the best. A clap for actor Oh Jung Se for playing this character very well. I have an autistic cousin, and it's quite the same with Sangtae. Was this review helpful to you?
Very unique and well done show
This show definitely stands out for its unique theme. The story pacing was just the right amount, not too fast or dragged out. The use of children's fairy tales for the narration of plot and characters was beautifully done. Main as well as supporting character stories are well written especially the character development we see in all the characters. The actors did an amazing job, Oh jung se's acting as moon sang tae was really amazing to watch. The OST tracks are really beautiful. The show also has a very satisfying ending. Overall it's a very good show and will definitely recommend this show. The drawback according to me is that it has the cliché kdrama tropes without which it would have been truly unique. Was this review helpful to you?
Would you be with someone who manipulates you for gain?
That’s basically the issue I had with show. The show itself is really good. I love the digital effects, I like the fairytales interwoven in the show. Music is really good, the male lead is good, the autistic brother is portrayed well, and there really are no annoying characters except for the female lead. Here is what I can’t get over. The female lead decides to like and capture this boy. Her motive from the very beginning is just because he doesn’t like her, she wants him. Although she had a rough childhood, you can tell that she was always given or was able to get what she wanted. She’s a spoiled brat. What’s worse is she manipulates everyone around the male lead to get her way. I don’t like that the story rewards her for that. I don’t like that the male lead falls for her with that attitude. Considering the male lead is a caring, giving, worn out individual because everyone takes from him. Why would he then get a girlfriend who’s so broken he is having to be, exactly what makes him exhausted in life. A caregiver. The male leads cannot be oblivious to that fact that in order to get what she wants, she will do literally anything. She even manipulates and uses his autistic brother to insert herself into the male leads life. What worse is that she achieves her goal in the story. According to the story even if you’re super broken in life, you don’t have to fix yourself, you just shamelessly do whatever it takes to get what you want, and it can be yours. Was this review helpful to you?
I love this drama
I absolutely loved this drama! Oh Jung Se's performance as Sang-Tae was phenomenal, he managed to break my heart and piece it back together with his incredible acting. The characters felt original and honest, and I was so happy to watch their growth! The overall story was complete, the show was filled with metaphors, thought provoking quotes, celebrations of different art media, raunchy, comedic, tragic and inspiring moments which made me so immersed in their world. After the final episode I feel so much joy, not grief that it has finished. I'm so satisfied that the loose ends have been tied and the writers/directors maintained a high level of quality and commitment to the character's development right until the end.I've seen this drama so many times that I know the dialogues, I'm thinking about watching it again.

Different, heartfelt yet unrealistic
There are elements of this series that are touching and that pull at all the right strings. However, I cannot say that I was left with the impression that this is an extraordinary show. Sure, the depiction of mental illnesses and conditions and their acceptance are much welcomed and needed. Yet, where the show fails is that this is more about the autistic brother and his needs, wishes, and priorities than it is about the male lead. Some may find that fascinating and what brings the show to another level. Others, like myself, may find that lacking. The acting is mainly wonderful - especially the male actors. The female lead however is not as strong. Perhaps her character was written like that on purpose, but her representation of the self-entitled and rude attitude definitely did not add strength to the overall impression of her character or her acting. The fine line between villain and victim needed more finesse.
I guess where the show ultimately fails is the tragic twist and turn that instead of bringing another level of drama dimension ends up bringing a totally unrealistic finale. There is too much glossing over at the end, too much drama and tragedy to end watching the series with any kind of semblance of realism.

'It's Okay to Not Be Okay' is, indeed, the drama of the year for me along with Hospital Playlist and Extracurricular. I have to say, I haven't watched all the 2020 dramas so keep that in mind. But yeah.
I want to talk about why I gave the story a 9/10 first: yes, the plot was interesting af and it's really addicting... but. There has to be a but, right? It is indeed true that there were some lacking things? I won't actually mention them to avoid spoilers, but yes, there were certain parts on the episodes that left me kinda 'empty', not filled up enough. Still, the drama is indeed about healing and it deals with that on a really realistic way. The fact that healing also includes Sang Tae, who is a character with autism, is also something that adds up a lot to the plot. We get to see things from his point of view too, which is super interesting.
The acting is marvelous. To be honest, the acting that impressed me the most wasn't Kim Soo Hyun's or Seo Ye Ji's but Oh Jung Se. Portraying an autistic person is really hard and he did it so good... he made it look so effortless, so natural. And yes, there were parts where Seo Ye Ji's acting also shocked me, as well as Kim Soo Hyun's, but long-term it was Oh Jung Se's, everything be said.
Ko Mun Yeong (Seo Ye Ji) is a book writer. Well, for children. On some episodes we get to 'read' her books along with different characters and I found this really amazing! The books were so good, always leaving a deep message behind, and the illustrations that came with it really impressed me for good.
The OST is one of my favorites along with Hotel Del Luna's and Goblin's. I was always waiting for a new track to drop. Especially the english ones, I just loved them. I kept the OST on repeat for weeks and sometimes I still do.
Overall, the drama in general is different than what we're used to. With a role-reversal that actually worked AND not changing throughout the episodes, it makes you feel what the characters are feeling and is addicting af. I loved Ko Mun Yeong, I lived for her scenes. Don't get me wrong, Gang Tae's scenes were also really interesting and I loved them, but Ko Mun Yeong just had something. The chemistry was AMAZING and their kisses... oh well. You'll have to see yourself.
I recommend this 10/10. It's something really different and the plot is interesting, the acting is perfect as well as the OST and it leaves you wanting more after every episode. Weekends were the best days of the week while it was airing, I swear, you won't regret it.

Rapunzel but she's basically hungry all the time.
I can't believe I didn't start this show sooner! I laughed, I cried, I squealed, and I loved every minute of it. I absolutely loved this show. I really liked how unpredictable this story and the characters were. I also really enjoyed the whole fairytale and book writing aspect of it. I'm so glad I went into this show not knowing too much about it. I personally think the ending was perfect and tied up fairly well. If you are undecided or debating to watch this show, don't overthink it and just start! Was this review helpful to you?

Now on to what I didn't like so much. I know I'll probably get some flak for this but I could not stand Moon Sang Tae. The character was just incredibly annoying. I desperately wanted him to have a smaller role in the show. I simply found everything about him infuriating. Yes, this was partly because of his autism and how that manifested in his character but it was mostly because of how he affected his brother. He was very selfish and it made me sad every time Gang Tae suffered because of him. Related to that I found Moon Gang Tae's character arc frustrating at times. His arc at first seems to be about learning how to take care of himself and putting his needs above those of others for once. But that arc is never realized. He stagnates halfway through due to guilt over his brother. I wish he had more character development. I also really disliked the plotline surrounding Ko Moon Young's mother. It simply made no sense. It was a huge plot hole within an otherwise very coherent show. To avoid spoilers that is all I'll say.
Overall I did really like the show but it wasn't the greatest kdrama I've ever seen. I'm happy others loved it even more than I did but it was just okay for me.

A Journey of Healing, Closure, and Unforgettable Characters
Why This Drama Stayed With Me 💭A heartfelt mix of romance and healing, this drama follows Moon Gang-tae, who has spent his life caring for his autistic brother Sang-tae, and Ko Moon-young, a famous author with a dark past. I loved that the story gave closure to almost every important detail, leaving the characters’ journeys complete and satisfying.
Why Ko Moon-young Had Me Hooked 💖
Ko Moon-young was the main reason I couldn’t stop watching. Bold and fearless, she openly flirted with Gang-tae in the early episodes, making their dynamic exciting. Behind her fearless and rebellious nature was a lonely girl who just wanted to be loved—especially by him. Her crying scenes were raw and believable, and the kissing scenes were seriously hot. She was drop‑dead gorgeous, exactly as the show established, and I especially adored her long, flowing hair.
A Family I Fell in Love With 👨👩👦
Moon-young treated Sang-tae like her own brother, and their bond added so much warmth. Gang-tae, the ultimate caregiver, slowly learned to live for himself, making their trio’s healing journey touching and memorable.
Performances That Gave Me Goosebumps 🌟
Oh Jung-se’s portrayal of Sang-tae was phenomenal—authentic and heartfelt. Seo Ye-ji perfectly embodied Moon-young’s charm and vulnerability, while Kim Soo-hyun gave quiet strength to Gang-tae.
Final Thoughts ✨
It’s Okay to Not Be Okay is about embracing imperfections, not fixing them. For me, Ko Moon-young was the undeniable star: fearless, vulnerable, and unforgettable. With satisfying closure for every thread, this drama left me full and happy.

Rollercoaster
It’s so refreshing to watch a kdrama what goes about psychiatry. I am happy that they make this drama. I heard a lot off this drama, but haven’t watched it till recent. Because it didn’t really attracted me. When I started I became right to the start addicted. The cast where so good. Especially the brother from ML who plays a autistic boy. Great job! I really believed he had autisem. The ML & FL had really great chemistry. The both has been hurt in the past and together they became eachother strength. In this drama there are a lot off emotions like a rollercoaster, but it’s a really good story, acting and drama. Hopefully with this story a lot more people will understand and accept what it is like to have autism of have a psychiatric disease. This is a must watch! If you want something refreshing than this is it!

Drama That You'll Recommend Even After Decades Later
Likes:* The way the writer/producers interpret well-known fairy tales into a darker version with the intention of motivating you to face the harsh reality head-on instead of daydreaming a happy ending.
* High degree of chemistry between the leads. Seo Ye Ji and Oh Jung Se were phenomenal! They shall receive an award for their outstanding performances!
* Supporting roles that acted so well - I was either rooting for the good ones or hating on the evil ones!
* Amazingly beautiful visuals.
* Tear-jerking subplots of the hospital patients.
* Indirectly educating audiences to be empathetic towards other people who seems to be different to you.
Dislikes:
* The little plot holes towards the end but nahhhh, it's forgiven.
