...And it really was Sweet!
A sweet relatively angst free romance and quite a surprise for me!I am not a fan of Chinese Historical dramas and truly never watch them so Luo Yun Xi, a huge name in Chinese Historical dramas but not so much in modern dramas, is relatively unknown to me. And what a pleasant surprise he was!
In this rom-com he was the perfect amount of corny cuteness paired with quite a talent at intimate scenes to keep me happily watching. I will definitely be checking out the few other modern dramas he's done.
All in All this is a good romp in the Rom-com world and ticked most of my boxes:
1. The lead and second lead couples were both well paired with relatively simple but good storylines.
2. The Intimate scenes were full of good chemistry and definitely no dead fish kisses.
3. The intrigue was well developed... *maybe a bit too well developed?
4. There was not too much "misunderstandings" between leads... *maybe the 2nd couple's inability to "connect" went on too long?
To address the asterisks in my "ticked boxes"....
Firstly CDramas seem to have this affinity for massive amounts of episodes...and I am reminded of the old adage "quality over quantity". This is just one reason I tend to watch KDramas over Chinese. In Love Is Sweet (like In the new Our Generation or Eat Run Love) there seem to be so many unneeded "filler" episodes or over development of the business intrigue story arc...my suggestion? Maybe shorten up and tighten up some of these dramas for a better paced and a more absorbing story. They don't all have to be 36+ episodes!
And secondly, another pet peeve and hair-pulling problem I find with some rom-coms is the amount of misunderstanding between couples. I suppose to keep the "will they-won't they" going and it might even be tied into the large number of episodes demanded....but for me this is totally unnecessary and ends up becoming, rather than playful, cute and funny, an exercise in frustration.
Love Is Sweet does have a few of these problems...it really could have been 5 or 6 episodes shorter as I found myself wandering around streaming services to see what else was out there or checking my emails when the drama delved deeper and deeper into the business intrigue...and the amount of misunderstanding between the second couple made me a wee bit nuts but in truth neither problem was too over the top or enough to stop me from watching. So all in all for a fun relatively light rom-com with some great chemistry and kissing scenes definitely give this drama a try!
Oh, and a funny aside: To add credence to the many comments about how good the intimate scenes were between the lead characters, I have read that in an interview when asked about the very popular intimacy in this drama, Luo Yunxi was said to have mentioned that he secretly studied videos of kissing scenes that Bai Lu had sent him. Bai Lu, being a huge KDrama fan, helped him turn into the excellent kisser he was in Love Is Sweet ...........so a big thanks to Bai Lu...

Highly recommended! Worth watching
This drama uplifted my mood soo much. The leads have such a beautiful chemistry and look so in love with each other. The whole cast acted so well. Not just the main lead's story but the second lead's love story was amazing too. I am a sucker for love triangle tropes and this one presented an awesome plot.I love how he tried to make her stronger from the childhood and explained it to her later. Her rare disease of being allergic to tears was potrayed really well. This is a worth watching drama.

Worth it - until the 2nd guy became crazy
Okay so first off I love this drama. I have finished all 36 episodes. The drama is unique since the female lead has an allergy with her own tears. I find it hard to cope up with that kind of allergy no matter how strong you are you tend to cry if things are not going really well. But thankfully the male lead is so understanding.I honestly don't understand why there are people that doesn't like the male lead's character. To be honest, I like him so much, he's such an ideal guy. He is handsome, career person who takes up responsibility, a good cook, and he is loyal to just one girl. This is so rare in real life you can probably find a guy that has one or two of those characteristics mentioned. Anyway, I like him and I am looking forward for his future dramas.
* This contain spoilers for the last few episodes *
Going back, the story became awful when they have decided to make the 2nd guy insanely in love. I mean they are all good and the story actually jumped in to 2 years later. Obviously, the 2nd guy should know and understand that the female & male lead are in a serious relationship and he doesn't stand a chance. I don't understand why he thought that the female lead likes him more than a friend? It's crazy! He even tried to kiss the FL & ruined her career (for her to ask him for help). He even got mad because the FL didn't wore the watch he gave him instead wore the watch that her boyfriend gave her. Hello! Of course any girl would wear the watch that their boyfriend gave them.
I just don't understand why they have decided to ruin his character when everything was perfectly fine. They should have gave him a love line instead of ruining his kind character. Just like what they've did to Qiao Na.
Probably they just want some spice and it worked I got really pissed off when they ruined his character. He got a bad childhood and life too. They have just gave him a break. But am not the writer haha just my thoughts.
Nonetheless, I love how it ended. They have given us a proposal (even the failed ones are worth clipping), it's so cute when Yuan Shuai does the proposal several times and failed with it too. It makes me realize how much effort he is willing to give for Jiang Jun. I love it!
That's my review for Love is Sweet. I do hope that I can find my Yuan Shuai too hahaha but I am passed the childhood and the highschool edition. Work edition would be fine. HAHAHA!

Refreshing andsweet drama, it's for you after a long day of work or studying.
*Love Is Sweet* is a delightful modern Chinese rom-com that blends lighthearted romance, workplace drama, and a dash of emotional depth. The story revolves around Jiang Jun (Bai Lu), an idealistic and kind-hearted woman with a rare medical condition that makes her extremely sensitive to tears, and Yuan Shuai (Luo Yunxi), her childhood friend who has now become her boss at an investment firm. The drama's charm lies in its balance of romance and humor. The chemistry between the leads, Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi, is undeniable, with their playful banter and evolving relationship being the heart of the show. Yuan Shuai's mix of being overprotective and teasing adds a layer of fun, while Jiang Jun’s strong, independent character makes her an appealing and relatable lead. Their transition from childhood friends to romantic partners is beautifully paced, filled with sweet moments and mutual growth.
The workplace setting adds another dynamic, as it delves into the challenges of corporate life and personal ambitions. The secondary characters, including colleagues and friends, also contribute to the drama’s vibrant energy and provide additional comic relief and secondary romances.
While the show is mostly light and fluffy, it does touch on deeper themes like grief, trust, and pursuing one’s dreams, giving the story more emotional weight as it progresses.
Overall, *Love Is Sweet* is a feel-good romantic comedy with heart, making it a must-watch for fans of lighthearted, yet emotionally engaging, love stories.

SUPER LOVELY
This drama is fantastic, just as everyone has stated, LYX and BL nailed it. I am smitten with the couple and their chemistry ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Story-10/10
This was a well-written drama with a sweet, strong beginning and a wonderful conclusion. You'll have a good time watching this light, lovely drama that will make you smile and giggle most of the time. It's true, ayee!
In terms of acting/casting, I give it a 10/10.
Their chemistry is just perfect for one another. Most of the time, I thought that they were a real couple, haha. I would give them a 100/10.
Music-9.5/10
It was good, a nice melody and sounded sweet catchy, but it was a little repetitive at times. In spite of that, I'm okay with it
I would rate this rewatch as a 10/10
I'm watching this for the second time and can't seem to move on haha.. There is something really special about this concept❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I wish I could watch their drama again in 2024, or at some point in the future, as I would really enjoy it.
You cannot deny that there is nothing sweeter than love.

the chemistry of the main leads is MUAH. if u watch their bts then u know what i mean. not to mention how the cast literally danced together and are the cutest. their romance storyline is NEVER boring and the business aspect of the drama is pretty interesting as well. like this drama really said childhood friends and office romance all in one. all their problems get resolved in a reasonable amount of time and it never drags on and also bailu's acting is so good?!!!she's just so cute and definitely deserves more recognition. Was this review helpful to you?

**TBH BEST MODERN DRAMA THAT AIRED THIS YEAR!!**
Story/Plot - 10:+ Does not drag you much even though it's 36 episodes it is fast-paced, unlike other modern business dramas.
+ Gives a fast back story of when they were in high school which was nice to see how their relationship back then.
+ YUAN SHUAI AND JIANG JUN’S CHEMISTRY MAKES YOU HEART FLUTTER AND WANT TO BE IN JIANG JUN’S SHOES 😍
+ Plot is interesting and keeps you on your toes wanting more and more.
+ It is pretty cliche but it doesn’t stop you from watching the drama.
+ The comedy in this drama is just so great, I could watch those scenes daily and I would never get bored.
- The only drag through the drama is Xu Li and Li Xiaochuan’s romance mostly at the beginning.
(Spoiler Alert! - Episode 21 is complete sugar tho AHHH IT’S SO GOOD)
Acting/Cast - 100:
+ ALL THE ACTORS ACT AMAZINGLY WELL EVEN THO ITS A CLICHE TYPE OF ROMANCE BUT STILL, THE ACTORS CHEMISTRY IS HIGH IN THE SKY
+ Let me just say that the cast for this drama is just amazing we have Luo Yunxi who is just eye candy.
+ Bai Lu shows a great representation of a strong female lead and shows a good role model to other women to be strong and independent, not dependent on a guy
+ Luo Yunxi fits his role as an ED as he shows 2 sides of his character representation (a serious business guy side + a sweet and funny romantic guy) which I loved while watching it.
+ As seen in the bts, Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi get along well with each other which is the main basis of a quality drama.
+ Wangcai... how could we forget such an amazing actor tho... my favourite character AH
Music - 10:
+ chosen well to fit with the different scenes happening at the time
+ Majority of the songs are in English which kind of made me confused when I first watched it but it means you can sing along with the songs
+ My favourite song from the OST playlist is 爱是 (Love Is) ever since I saw a video (I’m pretty sure it was from the fan meeting, not sure tho) Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi sang the chorus it was such a sweet moment :))
(Btw the songs are on Spotify right now!! Just look up Love is Sweet OST and you will be able to find the songs from the drama)
Rewatch Value 10:
While waiting for new episodes to come out during when it was airing, I had already rewatched half the drama again haha but, when it finishes, I will rewatch this drama again especially the sweet scenes (my faves tho). But it depends on how you feel when you watch it first.
Overall 10:
+ Great drama
+ Amazing storyline
+ Best cast there is in any other modern drama
+ EYE CANDIES OKK?! they're all super hot and that's all u need to know :))
WATCH THIS DRAMA OR WANGCAI WILL COME AND STEAL ALL YOUR SOCKS :)

Love is Sweet - The Best Chinese drama
Someone recommended this to me and boy good thing I've checked it, I do not regret it at all watching this!* Totally agree with the title, the love story is so sweet!!
* Love the chemistry between lead is on/off-screen - they're so good together
* Bai Lu is my favorite, have seen her other dramas too.
* First time to watch *Handsome LEO* and I'm totally Impressed. I didn't like him before in Ashes of Love but when I saw him in here, I was so addicted/hooked on it straight away
A DRAMA YOU WILL MISS AFTER ENDING It and definitely want to repeat it again.
* Can't wait to watch Leo's other dramas, I can see there are more upcoming, I will definitely keep an eye on them!!
I strongly suggest this drama to everyone!!!!

one of the best dramas in my list
The best series I've watched so far, this drama satisfied me even more than "Centimeter of Love"I love about the office politics & business intrigues and all the character are well played by the actors
and I always love drama without stupid break up
I'm okay with bitchy SFL or evil SML, but i don't really fond of stupid break up nor infidelity
That's why I gave full 10 for this show
I started to love Bai Lu since this drama and decided to follow every modern drama with her as the main role
but on the other hand, i regretfully sorry for Gao Han Yu that because his great role here made me hate him so so much and never watched any dramas with him

I'm dying from the absolute cuteness in this show
I love love loveeeeeed the main couple, they had the most amazing chemistry and their story was really sweet to watch unfold, especially learning about their childhood together. They had one of the most realistic and healthy relationships I've seen in one of these shows before. They challenged each other, argued but also loved each other when frustrated with each other. One of the most sweetest scenes was when Yuan Shuai made dinner and pretended to leave so that Jiang Jun could "sneakily" eat her fill of dinner when they were in a middle of a fight. He really just embraced her independence but also gave her support and help when she needed it.
There wasn't really an evil woman who had her sights on Yuan Shuai so you don't see any real cat fights so you never doubted Yuan Shuai's love for her. But the second male lead Du Lei had a pretty great character growth but it was lost for no real apparent reason in the last few episodes when he turned somewhat evil again. I really found that disappointing since I enjoyed seeing him grow as a character and wished they had someone else as the "final boss" for the storyline.
