Feel Good Drama
If you are looking to watch something that will make you feel GOOD then I recommend you watch this drama.I don't usually non-BL shows but I was HOOKED with this drama. You will find the usual and unusual here. The male lead and female leads are such great characters -- yes, they may seem PERFECT but you know what? They are not the annoying kind. You will fall in love with both of them. Actually, there are 3 couples in this drama and I love each of them (this is unusual for me). They may have flaws but I believe they are acceptable flaws.
After binge-watching this, I am on the lookout for another drama that has a XING KELEI in it. Ah, this character... I really, really love him. He is the perfect boyfriend! He is smart, athletic, responsible and funny (in a corny and adorable way).
Just TRUST ME AND WATCH THIS DRAMA. You will not regret it!

Beautiful Drama!
Words can't express how much I love this drama. I went without sleep because I just couldn't stop pressing "next episode."Pros:
+ EXTREMELY HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS! Everyone has pointed this out by now, but yeah, I want to add my support for this. The relationships are probably the best written ones ever in a drama and it was certainly one of my favorite things about it. The interactions/emotions were realistic. Some screenwriters/people need to take notes... -_-
+ Realistic characters. The characters have realistic personalities, they didn't act like they were trying to fit into a certain stereotype - LOVE IT.
+ Moments of sweetness, sadness, and hilariousness. This drama has a nice balance. I was hit in the feels A LOT and I enjoyed every minute of it.
+ No misunderstandings that drag on and on and on and on and on and on and on.
+ It wasn't as much like DOTS as I thought it was going to be. To me, that's a good thing.
Cons:
- I really really really did not like the story arc with the sisters.....just NO. It was the only thing in the show that irked me so bad and it added nothing to the story.

Might not be your cup of tea if:
* you don't like stories that focus on the careers of the characters. This show contains a lot of scenes that are dedicated to the careers of the characters. For some people this is a drawback, but I personally enjoyed it.
* you don't like stories that follow multiple couples. I usually hate this because it's never really written well, but the couples in this drama are sweet and adorable, it was a plus for me. :P

So good! So so so goooooood!!!
I’ve never liked a c-drama as much as I did with this one. The overall plot itself is simple, but the individual story arcs and the overall development of Dr. Mi and Captain Xing are so well-done! The angst doesn’t come much from the typical silly rivals trying to sabotage (though spoiler, there is one coming near the tail end, but it was again handled well!) but rather from the tension that come with their respective jobs. For me, this is such a breath of fresh air, it’s amazing to see both leads go through trials, both separately and jointly. The writing allows them both to shine as individuals and as a pair. And the supporting characters also lift the story to another level. Basically I was rooting for everyone.MSC and BJT’s chemistry is electric! I love them both! They have tense moments, adorable moments, heated moments, funny moments, what can they not do?! My favorite moment is Xing Kelei’s birthday surprise to his girl. I was bawling my eyes out every time Mi Ka read a note.
If I had to nitpick, the thing that I least liked would be Wenbo’s hesitation, one step forward-two steps back with Xia. But I still liked their moments, especially with the old couple in the earthquake relief area.
A solid 10/10 for me!

A MUST WATCH! NOT DOTS! FAR BETTER
The reason I'm writing this review before I watch the last two episodes - I DON'T WANT THIS TO END.I have been in drama slump for 3 whole months. Where nothing I watched was enough to interest me and I dropped 9 dramas. That's when You are my hero came. The name is so apt because it saved me from utter boredom honestly.
Story:
It's nothing extraordinary in itself. But you see even when a simple thing is executed well becomes worth watching. No annoying second male or female lead. We don't only have second lead couple but also third couple as well. And they're all good. The reason why the lead couple is the main highlight of this drama is - BOTH CHARACTERS ARE INDIVIDUALLY INTERESTING AND AS A COUPLE THEY GIVE YOU A HEALTH MATURE RELATIONSHIP AND OFF THE CHARTS CHEMISTRY THAT OVERSHADOWS EVERYONE ELSE.
Xing kelei straight away climbed to the top of my male leads list. And Mika is a character I could relate with so well
YanShan and the two sisters being the only useless characters. i loved the third couples dynamic lot more than second couple.
Acting:
Baijingting: it's my first drama of him. I've been hearing his name for years through my twitter moots but never knew who he was. And man I regret being this late though you are my hero was the perfect way of knowing him. 10 mins into episode 1 while only seeing his eyes I knew he was one hell of a talented actor and he proved me right throughout this journey. I had no choice but to become his fan
Ma Si Chun: I've watched her before in love me if you dare. If you think she was good in it , wait till you see her as Mika. She nailed the role. If it was anyone else in her place I don't think mika would be mika.
All the supporting cast was good. I loved each n everyone of them.
Music:
The opening ost is one I would never miss in any episodes. Same with closing ost. Honestly all tracks are so good
Rewatch:
I'm already rewatching :)

I believe many of you are wondering why this show did not hit your expectations or infact scored lower than a 9/10. That is because ya’ll are comparing it to the Korean drama “descendants of the sun”. I have to admit, the korean ver is instead more vibrant and straight to the point but the Chinese ver portrays the drama in a completely different spotlight. First off, a lot of dramas tend to filter the scenes using a bubbly shade tone but there is almost no film filter used in this drama, thus the scenes seem more realistic and relatable.
Both the actors showcases their youthful love and it is just so LOVELY to see how the male lead has a “cold on the outside, warm on the inside” personality. He once saved her from a hostile attack yet he hide his identity from her when they met again.
I just absolutely love how he treated her so coldly during training but actually secretly looks out for her. Only 10 episodes in and I’m still hook onto the show :33. I advice everyone to ignore the fact that this drama is a remake of “descendants of the sun” and view it as a completely new drama acted out by two very experienced and loving actors.
**For those who wants to know the differences between “descendants of the sun(korean)” and “you are my hero(Chinese)”, continue reading my comment.
Differences:
Korean— guy has more of a puppy personality, chases after girl evidently and makes his feelings clear to her. Good at flirting.
First time the couple met was coincidentally at a hospital and it’s love at first sight!
Chinese - guy has more of a cat personality, treats the girl harshly during training and is cold on the outside but actually like the girl and often secretly help her behind her back.
First time the couple met was during a hostile attack where the male lead saved the female lead!
- Chinese ver is more light hearted

Slow plot advancement, average acting, uninteresting and unrealistic hospital and swat scenes
I do not understand why this drama has such high ratings except for the fact that the male lead is handsome and some view it as an idol drama meant for younger audiences. Both the swat and hospital seems were incredibly unrealistic, and there’s no chemistry, friendship, character development between the colleagues in the hospital or the SWAT environment. The disaster relief, training and crime busting scenes had no interesting stories, making them time wasters.
The FL is not able to come across as someone who has finesse and excellence in her job while being ditsy at the same time simply because of the way she handles patients and medical equipment (along with all the rest of the cast as well actually). It’s forgiveable that she handles medical emergencies like someone worse than a first-aider, but she at least needs to have the facial expressions to go along with it, that’s why it’s called acting.
That said, the main dullness of the show the female FL and ML, and the 2nd leads, don’t have a strong character or plot arc.
The drama is simply filled with patient and swat training when there’s nothing going on between between the cast.
I dropped the drama at episode 18.

A long drama, but completely unmissable
You Are My Hero is a Chinese drama that tells the romance and shared experiences between Mi Ka, a dedicated neurosurgery resident, and Xing Ke Lei, the captain of the SWAT Special Forces. Fate brings them together in an unexpected and dangerous situation during a jewelry store robbery. Years later, they reunite in an emergency rescue training at their hospital, conducted by the SWAT team, where Xing Ke Lei is the instructor. Thus, their lives intertwine again, and their relationship begins to blossom as they face challenges, dangers, and personal discoveries together.CONSIDERATIONS:
I had heard a lot about this drama, and it had been on my endless list of dramas to watch, but since it was older, I kept putting it aside to prioritize more recent releases. After watching The First Frost, I decided to start this one right afterward, and I can say that it was an amazing experience to follow the personal and professional lives of the protagonists.
POSITIVES POINTS:
(1) Plot: With 40 episodes, the drama is clearly long and presents several arcs throughout the storyline. However, overall, even though the premise is not original, the screenwriters did an excellent job, allowing the characters' development to be organic and consistent. The events unfolded smoothly, and there was a good balance between moments of comic relief and tension, making the plot engaging, well-structured, and interesting. Additionally, the ending was satisfying, although, of course, a wedding between the protagonists would have been the perfect touch, haha.
(2) Acting: The cast’s acting was incredible. All the actors managed to portray the personality of each character convincingly, as well as their emotions and conflicts through their body language and dialogues. Furthermore, overall, the characters had good interaction with each other, and there was a natural connection between them, making it seem like they were genuinely friends/partners in real life. I would like to highlight how much I loved Dr. Shao's character—there was a moment when I really saw him as a doctor; his performance was very natural and convincing.
(3) Chemistry between the leads: The chemistry between Xing Ke Lei and Mi Ka is not that intense and overwhelming kind. In fact, until episode 17 (if I’m not mistaken), I didn’t see a romantic chemistry between them; it felt more like a friendship. However, in the following episodes, I began to notice a growing connection between them. Their chemistry is subtle, gradual, and charming, built on respect and trust, where they support each other in decisive and difficult moments. Their dynamic was very interesting to watch, as there were no dramatic clichés like separations, love triangles, or interfering parents. Also, it seemed like the actors truly enjoyed their interactions, as their laughs seemed genuine.
CONTRAPOINTS:
(1) Unnecessary arcs: Despite the plot being well-structured, I believe some arcs in the story ended up being unnecessary, such as Xing Ke Lei’s illness and the appearance of captain’s daughters. It’s not that I disliked these arcs, but I felt they weren’t as engaging or impactful as the earlier ones in the story.
(2) Second couple’s development: The second couple, Wen Bo and Qing Xia, annoyed me a bit, haha. Their development wasn’t as satisfying as I expected. Wen Bo had no attitude toward Qing Xia for most of the story; she was always the one chasing after him, practically humbling herself to gain his love and affection. When she finally gets his love, he simply doesn’t do anything to advance or strengthen the relationship. I think they had the chemistry for a less tedious story than this.
(3) Lack of impactful police events: I think the medical part of the drama was well-represented, with many interesting hospital cases and situations, but I would have liked more events in the police area, like the one that happened in the first episode (I loved watching Xing Ke Lei in action, haha, I think Bai Jing Ting fits this role perfectly). However, I understand the writers’ choice to bring a more realistic approach to the police theme.
OVERALL VIEW:
You Are My Hero is engaging and enjoyable. Although it’s a bit long, the plot is well-constructed, and there is amazing interaction between the characters. The series avoids dramatic clichés, presenting a realistic approach to both the medical and police aspects.

A drama about love through and through
"You are my hero", i've never felt so relaxed, happy, and self content while watching a drama. Two people brought together by fate, a simple but realistic love story. What i remember the most is the chemistry between all the couples, not over played. You can picture their concerns in real life, and without realizing it, you find yourself cheering for them. What i love the most is that, there are not unecessary misunderstandings, nor break-ups. I really, really, love this drama and will recommanded it a million times. Don't hesitate to watch it !

i first thought it's long drama now i want more just watch it
i personally don't like long dramas but i loved this one as it was just too good and not like other dramas ...the thing with long dramas is that you get to know the characters very well so that's why i got attached to them

i loved the main leads love alot and their determination and dedication to their work is absolutely fabulous....they are a perfect couple ..even though their is so much going on in their work-life they try to stay with eachother as much as possible so that is great...they are so cute and they kind of bring out the best in eachother ...i am jealous and i want a relationship like them to be fair not the working part their friends are so good and supportive even though mikas bff does something it is forgiven quickly..
the second lead couple i was mad at wenbo but he is just the non communicativr type and xia is perfect for him they balance out eachother ....xia loud and extrovert
wenbo quiet and introvert loved them but a little mad at wenbo but he makes up for it so that is coool
the third lead couple the doctor and mainleads sis

A 2021 Must Watch
I was attracted to this drama at first glance. I saw that this was going to be aired soon and the cast had comprised of Ma Si Chun and Bai Jing Ting and I was already swooning. MSC is such a great actress and I've seen her in a few dramas and I loved her performance in LMIYD so I knew this had to be a must-watch for me.If you guys have seen AvenueX's video on her first impressions of this drama, I second what she says in her video. Certain parts don't make logical sense but that is counteracted by the leads acting and chemistry. I have to agree that as the drama progressed, I was a bit puzzled at certain parts because they weren't too logical. As long as you guys get past the part about the "training camp" you'll fall in love with it.
I'm going to be honest, I think that the synopsis is a bit off. The part about the earthquake is fine however the last paragraph of the synopsis, I didn't see anything that was mentioned in the drama. I could be wrong as I was pretty focused on MSC and BJT's chemistry but nothing "big" aside from the earthquake had happened (?)
Anyways, time for the breakdown:
Story: Eh, pretty interesting at times but also kinda dragged out, especially the first few episodes. I didn't really mind this but I know others might mind so I will put this out there that they are a bit slow. After that, it picks up pretty well (not too fast though.) Unfortunately, there will be four episodes towards the latter half of the story that mostly everyone will hate. I would say either skip it if it's too much to handle or if you're curious and don't want to mentally struggle, watch it at 2x speed. I really like how this drama showed some of the real aspects of being a doctor and such. Some setbacks and the growing process of being a doctor and how it's sometimes hard to see your s/o especially when both people have busy jobs: a doctor and a swat officer.
Acting: I already said this but I'll say it again, the chemistry between BJT and MSC are perfect. It makes me almost think that they are a real couple. The second couple was also really cute as well along with Xing Kelei's sister, Xing Keyao and Shao Yuhan. Glad that everyone had a happy ending. Lu Feng needs to find a person too.
Music: Honestly no comment. I was too drawn to the story to actually pay attention to the music and soundtracks,
Rewatch: In other reviews, I say that I rarely ever rewatch a drama EVER. This is the same for this drama. However, I might honestly consider watching it again if I'm waiting for other dramas to air.
If you stayed to the end of this review, thank you. Hopefully this was helpful and if you decide to watch it, have fun!

It's just perfect!
Sandra Ma's acting is actually very great and lot better than what I expected. It's also the same with Bai Jingting. The OST is a perfect match with the story flows and the moments. Especially, the opening and ending song.
The story is actually very cool, in the beginning you already got some suspense with the action.
Even though the story will focus on the romance more after that, there would be some scene like that ahead.
I REALLY WOULDN'T MIND THE FEW KISSES THEY HAD. In fact even if they just did it twice or once, I would still watch it. Because their chemistry (both the actors and characters) are very great. Even the hugs or some romantic gestures can make me scream internally, their relationship is, "Trying to understand each other and support each other through life and death." (Considering they really did save each other, well, what do you expect from a doctor and police couple?)
I am also deeply satisfied with the second couple story. Even though it's a bit draggy in the beginning to the middle and sometimes I got frustrated because of Shu Wenbo. I think, the conflict is very easy to solve but they made it longer, that's why I said it was draggy. I know that Shu Wenbo is supposed to be dumb on romance but, I think the pre-confessing part was very frustrating to watch.
But still, they still made me satisfied with the fact that they marry first than the main couple. Their chemistry after that really paid it all.
There is some conflict that would made you a little bit frustrated, but don't worry because it all will be solved with a satisfying ending on each conflict.
I have to say that I really enjoyed this drama. And the two last episode.. duh!
I would consider re-watching this drama in a few months.

Entertaining but Cliche-Filled and Overstretched
I watched this drama based on a friend’s recommendation, and while I’m glad I gave it a shot, I have mixed feelings overall. It’s an enjoyable romance with beautiful visuals and solid performances, but it could have easily been 10 episodes shorter without losing anything important. The relationship between Mi Ka and Ke Lei is the biggest highlight. Their chemistry is undeniable, and I appreciated seeing a couple that actually behaves like sharing jokes, affection, and genuine warmth. It’s rare to find such grounded romantic moments in Chinese dramas. That said, once they officially got together, the show oddly kept them apart or made their interactions awkward for far too long, which took away some of the emotional payoff.
Individually, the characters are hit or miss. Mi Ka is portrayed as nearly flawless-an idealized super-doctor who can do everything from surgery to diagnostics. While she’s admirable, this lack of flaws made her feel a bit unrealistic and flat. Ke Lei was slightly more layered, but still largely a “perfect guy” type. Secondary couples were interesting in parts, but their storylines dragged, especially with the inclusion of unnecessary love triangles and vague relationship drama.
One of the biggest drawbacks is the pacing. The show is bloated with filler-action sequences, medical emergencies, and side plots that don’t really move the story forward. The Shen sisters arc, for example, was completely skippable. Episode 6 in particular almost made me drop the drama due to how poorly thought out the hospital scenes were.
In the end, this drama is worth watching if you’re looking for a relaxing romance with strong leads and pretty visuals. Just don’t expect a tightly written story. It’s a comforting ride, but one that could’ve benefited from sharper editing. Solid 8/10 from me
