I'm all for enigmatic, metaphorical dramas where you're never entirely sure what's happening. Hey I was one of the few people who loved A Piece of Your Mind and I still think that Someday or One Day was this year's best drama (and one of the best ever made).

So with a title of 'Amensalism' and an intriguing premise involving death dreams, I decided to overlook the terrible acting of Prince and tune in. It started off okay with a kind of dreamy and ambiguous tone. Prince was... actually even worse than usual, which I didn't think was possible... but it was interesting enough to get me through the first few episodes.

Unfortunately, overall, the show is a thematic mess and the plot is even worse. Having watched to the end, I honestly couldn't tell you what it was even about. A huge part of the plot was taken up with a conspiracy completely unrelated to the male lead's dreams or his near death experience. I squinted and cocked my head sideways but still couldn't see how 'Amensalism' factored into any of the relationships depicted.

Worse than that, the show undermined its own mythology more than once for head-scratching "twists" that the show could have done without. It also assassinated one character very badly and then expected both the other characters and the audience to forgive her the next episode. In the end, it came down squarely on the side of a standard predestined romance with a crime thriller complication.

Overall, Amensalism was an unfocused mess and I don't recommend it.

Great Tdrama

If you are into good looking actors, Wang Zi is a heart throb. The cast members are too a great looking crew. The story line is interesting and very intriguing. The storyline touches on a very interesting concept that we can be in touch with a future event and there is nothing we can do about it. If Einstein is correct, and we beat the time spectrum, we may beat time. However it is not possible today, and I am not sure if parallel universes exist. But that is not this storyline but worth thinking about.

Don’t listen to stupid reviews. Don’t know why these people take their own bad day on a great T-Drama. Love Wang Zi. Love the T-drama. I looked to see if there are other Wang Zi Dramas I could watch. I already saw Attention, Love! And that was hilarious which brought me here. Good viewing

An oddity

There are plenty shows which start well and then, after a couple or so episodes, go downhill. This show is one of them. Though the final episodes somewhat improve after very boring middle.

What's odd, though, is that acting is rather OK at first but then gets worse instead of improving.
I'm not sure who is to blame. The screenwriters, who took an interesting premise and barely made use of it throughout the show focusing on flashbacks, pointless details and stilted dialogues instead, the director, who hardly helped the cast to deal with the tepid script, or the editor, who often failed to combine the scenes into a coherent, flowing story.

The music was nice though.

Good Enough

" Amensalism " had a good mystery, but the rest of the drama was boring.

The story about how everyone was connected to the past mystery case was quite solid. And, it would have been a really good drama if they had stuck to that one, and didn't add other plot lines that were underdeveloped. Also, the cases, in the beginning, were interesting, but they were too few.

The romance, on the other hand, was weak, as was the love triangle. Actually, the second lead was more interesting than the main male one. The other side characters were always overlooked and they had no story or actual personality, which is unfortunate, as the team was entertaining. The villains, finally, were predictable and too cliche.

The performances, lastly, was just okay. And the CGI horrible.

So, overall, five out of ten.

I really wanted to like this series a lot more. It was okay but had the potential to be even better. I thought it was like the series “while you were sleeping.” But that’s not the case. It does have an interesting twist to it but the acting/script or chemistry was off. It really just seemed strange to me. It felt like something was missing but I couldn’t put my finger on it and because of that it just seem like the entire series was a flop for me. I know many people may disagree with me but the first few episodes was really good but then something went wrong.

Let’s start with the fact that our female lead is looking for clues to an accident to prove her families innocence. She discovers a piece of evidence that opens a whole new door and without thought she blames on me or lead who was just as young as she was when it occurred.

One thing that I do not like is the forced conflict. You know the type of conflict where the persons reaction is a bit far-fetched for the situation or when they point blame at someone who is absolutely not at fault. But they break up with them and blame them and maybe even slap their face like they were at the root of it all. I couldn’t like it after that.

Well, you can ignore this review, I just really need to rant about this show

I think this show had great potential, there were two very interesting concepts in it which made it intriguing to watch at the beginning.

In the first few episodes we meet the supernatural part, which makes the main character dream about deaths, which he tries to stop but always fails, except one time, after meeting a woman. It turns out he is connected to this woman in a very unfortunate way, when something good happens to him, something bad happens to her. The show also portrays in the first few episodes the heavy mental anguish the main character experiences due to this weird curse he bears. He feels more like an antagonist, and the reason for bad things happening, and he really hates it. It's very well acted out and conveys deep emotions, as well as the fateful meeting with this woman, a very special romance, that I really liked.

So this is all good, but then the writer decided to fuck it. The whole concept of the guy dreaming of a death and him and the woman going out to try to stop the deaths and find a connection between them is a great system for a crime show. Sadly this only happened TWICE. After that, again as I said, the writer decided to fuck it. After all this we start going down a rabbit hole. A big accident that connects EVERY main character, which already feels so weird, like very unlikely and just for the convinience for writing... And we meet a bunch of twists as for who the perpetrator is, which again, starts to get old, but whatever.

From here on out, we are only focusing on one case, for LOTS of episodes, and this case is actually not that complicated AT ALL... so the only hard part about finding out the details of this case, is just that it happened 20 years ago. Apart from that, there's really not much, and it's not even a deliberate murder, it's an ACCIDENT. Of course a possible murder is also connected to it, but I'll rant about that later. It's basically a hit and run, which IS shitty, but not a first degree thing at all, not planned, so really reallllllly simple, someone got in the car, another family got in the car and due to some issues they crashed, case shut. HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU INVESTIGATE THAT FOR 8+ EPISODES WHICH ARE MORE THAN 1 HOUR LONG?? Well, in very dumb ways. From here on out the writing is not clever and it even forgets for many episodes that our main guy's main interesting thing was that he dreams about deaths. Yep. We completely avoid this fact for a looooong time. Uh, like what? People don't wanna watch your shitty, badly written investigation on a simple car accident!!

Anyway, big spoiler: it turns out at the end, that the chairman's daughter caused the accident. Yes, a minor, not even an adult. So what does the chairman do? Imagine, a very rich guy's, young, minor daughter gets into an accident with another car filled with a family. Heeeere comes the quiz:
A: he calls an ambulance, maybe they can be actually saved and no deaths occur, just gotta pay a lot of money.
B: Maybe the parents are already dead, but this way they can't really testify who was the one at fault, so he can just pay a good lawyer and his MINOR daughter probably doesn't even go to any facilities at all.
C: Doesn't call ANYONE, leaves the scene, orders his secretary to get rid of the car, tries to manipulate his daughter's memories while she is shock that nothing happened, tries to murder the secretary to keep him quiet.

Yes, congratulations, OF COURSE IT'S C!! The dumbest idea EVER! Wow!!
So as you can see with just a little bit of thinking, it makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE what he does. It's the dumbest writing. Oh, but it doesn't end here.
So there is the thing about the scarf... oh my lord.
So there happened to be a scarf the daughter left on the scene of the crime, with the girl victim, who survived and turns out to be the main woman character, who actually puts the scarf away and still has it 20 years later. So what do they use this scarf for?? They think that it's a BIG evidence, pfff haha, bless their hearts. Thinking that it still has the victim's blood on it and probably the perpetrator's DNA as well, which they think to be the chairman. Like omg, this is such googoogaga writing it hurts. Let me make you understand. Taking an evidence like that to court without a proper police investigation... that's dumb, who on earth would believe it's real?? Also taking it to the police is ALSO dumb, because HOW on earth do you prove that any DNA that they find on the scarf got on it 20 YEARS AGO??? The blood is the woman's blood, which she can just put on it anytime she wants. And they might as well just could have planted the chairman's DNA on it, no one can tell when that happened!!! It's so duuuuumb, and they spend episodes fighting for that scarf like omg, it feels like I'm watching kids playing in kindergartennnn, the writing is so bad!!!
Like i'm not even gonna talk about the dad hiding for 20 YEARS while no one was looking for him, because his "murderer" actually thought he was DEAD??? pfff haha what?? what an IDIOT!!! leaving his family for that long, maybe he just really hated them after all omg!!!!!! SO DUMB!

So, dear writers, how about you stick to a good concept you came up with, the one that's actually interesting and a very new, fresh idea, and STICK TO IT???? phew. I'm really mad, because this really had potential, finally felt excited to watch a series, with an interesting idea, and was hooked on it for the first few episodes, it is such a bummer they screwed it up.

Only last episode I liked

Story start with good note . Two life entangled because one's exchanged his life with other .
But with starting drama I started loosing interest . Not connected myself with story . Every episode was little boring . First after watching few episodes I decided to drop but I want to know that why was he in difficult situation ,why he gave to choose to live with an exchange of another person life who he hated the most ,why such thing comes in his dream when he was abou to dies ,there was a type of power which trap him and last of the episode the power will reveal why it put him such a situation ,from where the power came . So just so much curious I decided to watch till end but it was no use only half of the reason had been revealed but nowhere had shown that why he had been given choice . This had been shown that to live he had to make choice but who give him this choice and why he had been put into such dilemma . He is not a bad boy then why he had been put into difficult .
So as a whole I don't like this drama mush . Even the love story was not come out in a good way .

This drama has a very intriguing story like and I fell in love with the suspense!! I would definitely recommend this drama to those who like action and romance. So far the drama is doing a great job not dragging any episodes.

As for the acting, Lorene Ren is doing a phenomenal job at portraying her character. Prince Chiu(Wang Zi) does have moments where is acting is a bit awkward but after watching Attention, Love! Where I first got to know about him, I definitely see how much he has improved.

The girl (I can’t remember her name) who was pretending to be Fei Fei DID SUCH AN AMAZING JOB, I had chills all over. She did an AMAZING job and that episode had be on the edge of my feet.
