Love between Fairy and Devil

苍兰诀 ‧ Drama ‧ 2022
A strong Male lead with a playful female lead, opposites attracting each other. Both dramas have that bit of whimsy, humor and seriousness. You will feel all the feels!

- It reminded me of Dylan Wang's most recent drama "Love Between Fairy and Devil" since he is playing these two roles of wanting power that they themselves achieved on their own
• Created their own tribe/nation in both dramas
- Dylan Wang's roles are both arrogant & egotistic people
- Both Historical dramas
- Dylan Wang's characters both keep the FL's next to them for their personal reasons
• Uses the FL as leverage for the other side, but the FL eventually wants to be by their side to help them; Wants to "kill" them (at first)
-His character both seek revenge

DIFFERENCE:
- In "Love Between Fairy and Devil", the drama is more fantasy due to the use of magic

The main similarity between these two dramas is the love that makes sacrifices.
Both the FL and ML are powerful beings ready to sacrifice for one another.
Both dramas have amazing CG effects, excellent acting and happy ending..

Another story around a perfectly complementary couple supporting each other and sorting out their peoples' differences.

In both shows, the male lead and female lead swap bodies, and the body swap occurs when they kiss. The main leads in both shows initially hate each other but gradually fall in love.

Two gripping tales intertwine in the shadow of malevolence. In the first, a tormented artist grapples with an otherworldly force, his creativity entwined with a demonic pact. As he ascends to fame, the sinister bargain exacts a toll on his sanity and those he holds dear. Simultaneously, a tenacious detective unravels a series of cryptic crimes, each linked to a devilish figure manipulating the strings of fate. Their parallel journeys converge in a climactic confrontation between good and evil, blurring the line between the infernal and the mortal. These narratives, bound by the enigmatic allure of the devil, spiral into a crescendo of darkness and redemption.

- Both MLs are considered evil by most of the characters in the series
- Both FLs start off very naive, and prejudiced against the ML
- Both MLs fall in love with the FL first

Both of the Male Leads get connected to Female Leads after an accident and now have to stay close to them in order to protect themselves they have to protect the female lead.

Both male leads are demons.

Female leads are headstrong and think for themselves.

Similar forced proximity and entangled fate vibe.

Both have plant fairies that are in love with their "herbal masters". Both are about their romantic relationship with their lords/ teachers.

The ost sounds super similar. The editing and camera work are fantastic in both. Solid acting and no horrible s leads which I greatly appreciate.

Both are fantasy dramas with a dragon character and a sweet FL. Both MLs are initially cold and emotionless but slowly become warmer through their relationship with the FL.

Similarities between the two dramas (includes mild spoilers):

- A bad boy king falls in love with an idealistic, kind woman from an enemy nation. He takes her hostage for drama reasons and spends episodes pining over her. Meanwhile the FL has an internal battle that consists of, "I must not betray my country by falling for this hot evil enemy king who would die for me!"

- There's a secondary romance in which the king's shy guard falls for the FL's more outgoing subordinate/confidante.

- Secondary plot about the two respective countries potentially going to war with each other.

Differences (includes mild spoilers):

- The FL in DDH is mature and wise, while the FL in LBFAD is more childish and naive.

- Both have historical settings; however, LBFAD has magic and is set in a fantasy realm, while DDH has no magic and is set in the real world (in fictional countries).

- The side characters and plots were stronger in LBFAD, in my opinion.

The leads switch bodies twice.
According to legend, in order to obtain terrible power, Dongfang Qing Cang of the Moon Tribe became an emotionless monster. He killed his father, seized the position of Moon Supreme and led an army of 100,000 Moon Tribe soldiers on a path of devastation. Shuiyuntian (the immortal fairy realm), Cangyan Sea (the Moon Tribe), and Yunmeng Lake (the mortal world) were in grave danger. To save the world and stop Dongfang Qing Cang and his army, the first God of War of Shuiyuntian destroyed her primordial spirit. Dongfang Qing Cang’s army and primordial spirit were sealed and his body was locked away in Haotian Tower under the immortal bonds of the Haotian Matrix. However, if his primordial spirit was restored and Dongfang Qing Cang were to break free from his tower, the world would be in danger once more. Legend says that only the Goddess of Xishan can prevent this catastrophe, but she vanished without a trace. 30,000 years after the first God of War’s sacrifice, there was a disturbance in the Haotian Matrix. While attempting to help the new God of War reinforce the Matrix, Orchid, a weak and low-ranking flower fairy, accidentally finds herself inside Haotian Tower and face-to-face with the Moon Supreme himself. Their encounter sets off a chain of events that threatens to change the fate of the world once again.

This is a bad boy / purehearted girl romance. It is Cute+Fun+Light-hearted, but the actors and director took the production seriously. {Oh, the bad boy. Enjoy him on the screen, but run away IRL girls!} Dylan Wang has to play a woman in a man's body in some scenes. He is superb. The theme song is Spotify-worthy. FL is darling. The villain is slightly overdone, but that's common in Chinese features. The Chinese do excel at inflicting pain in their entertainment, but LBFAD won't rip your heart out, so it is a nice break from more intense dramas.

Demon lord, hellfire (blue), philosophical questions of what is good or what is bad. And who decided either way.
