One word
AMAZING.Hooked from the beginning til the end.
You’re one your edge, you laugh and you’re emotional.
It has it all.
Please, please, please give us more seasons.
It’s worth it. When I can watch it with my husband and he also doesn’t want it to end. Then it’s really really good.

Loved it!
Yes, it's highly inaccurate in some scenes, but as an avid kdrama watcher I really liked this. It's so dynamic, the actors did a great job, there are many well known actors as well. I also wanna say that if you like Dr. Romantic you might like this as well. I think this has great potential for renewal (even though we know it's rare). Hoping for a 2nd season! 🤩Was this review helpful to you?

Had a Blast...
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this drama... I didn't expect it to. I initially thought this would be yet another drama set in a hospital setting similar to Dr. Romantic with romance in the busy trauma unit (eye roll), but this drama came out to be far far better than any drama of its genre.I absolutely loved how this drama infused comic timings into the serious scenes and how the 'villains' (if thats what they can be called) was funny. It made them less threatening and lifted up the comical side of this drama.
Also, I am so glad this drama didn't have any romance in it because the lack of romance made it so much more genuine and watchable. If they had incase added romance into it, then it would have gone all south. Another interesting fact was this drama didn't dwell into any characters personal life too closely. All it showed was that these are the doctors and this is what they are supposed to do. Save lives. I think the drama showed more personal info on the patients rather than the doctors who were the lead, which made it a fresh take and interesting scenario to watch.
Though there were scenes where I laughed out loud or scoffed at the scenes depicted in the surgery/operation theater, it wasn't too cringey. JJH's character is supposed to be a pompous know it all, but he comes out as a marshmallow. A total softie. Also, the secondary characters all shined bright and stood their own in every scene they were in. No matter how small their role was. The casting was done to a T.
As for the story, 10 out of 10. I never felt a minute bored or felt like the drama dragged out. Not a single scene. It felt perfect and apt with the 8 episodes.
What I want from this drama is now another season. I really hope there is a season 2. I want to know what antics are now the HNUH Trauma Team up to. I hope this drama would be renewed for another season. Would be a total loss if it didn't. *Fingers crossed*

Just Phenomenal
Listen up! This series is absolutely stunning. If you loved Dr. Romantic, you're in for a treat. Get ready for a beautifully crafted, straightforward, and captivating ride. From Ju Ji Hoon's no-nonsense yet empathetic attitude to Choo Young Woo's emotional depth, this series has me hooked. I'm in awe of everyone involved in bringing this masterpiece to life - they should be incredibly proud. A special shoutout to the creative team behind the unique finishing credits at the end of every episode. Was this review helpful to you?

pure medical kdrama
I'm a big fan of medical dramas and this show served every aspect that I wanted. I can't express how much I love the cast. jjh and cyw are both my favorite actors and they did incredibly amazing as always. the drama was so engaging with a lot of tension and funny moments. there was no boring ep. I loved the comedy parts so much and the characters were so so so well portrayed. this show can make people realize the importance of trauma center and the hard work and dedication that each person in a team puts to treat patients. I need more seasons now.Was this review helpful to you?

Need a season 2 now!!
This is the second series of Jihoon that I've watched, and what can I say? It's ingenious! He is THE Baek Kang Hyuk as much as Ryan Renolds is the Deadpool. On top of that, the supporting cast did their job wonderfully, they brought into life the vivid and distinct traits of their onscreen characters. This was a delightful watch. My only complaint would be that the duration is too short!! I need at least another two 16-episode-long seasons. Was this review helpful to you?

Netflix’s Hidden Gem You Need to Watch Now
🩺 No romance. No fluff. Just chaos, courage, and the will to save lives.Netflix’s first Korean medical original, "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call", is an adrenaline shot of high-stakes emergencies, moral dilemmas, and system-busting heroism. Ju Ji-hoon commands the screen as Dr. Baek, a war-hardened trauma surgeon who’ll bulldoze through bureaucracy if it means saving a patient.
With its tight 8-episode run, the series blends battlefield grit, dark humor, and emotional punch, delivering tension worthy of House and ER—without the filler. Gritty hospital realism meets political drama, backed by a cast you’d actually trust with your life.
A sharp, fast-paced K-drama that swaps romance for raw urgency. You won’t watch this to feel cozy—you’ll watch it to feel your pulse race.
⭐ 4.5/5

Finally, A Medical K-drama I Can Get Behind!
Let me start by saying that this is, by far, one of the most engaging K-dramas I've ever watched, and certainly one of the better written ones imho. To be honest, I don't think much of medical K-dramas because I generally find them too unrealistic, concentrating mostly on the romantic entanglements of the characters or intricacies of hospital politics. Yes, they're good entertainment but I found them too dragging because of all the romance, personal relationships, and side stories, which are very typical of your garden variety K-drama. This, however, got my undivided attention from the first few minutes. It's only 8 episodes long and it doesn't have a complicated plot but it expertly hooks and reels you in and you feel like an overeager fish that just can't resist the bait. You don't know much about the personal background of the main characters, but it doesn't matter because their motivations are made clear and they show enough personality on screen that you feel like you know them. Show don't tell, I always say. And they did so marvelously.Dr. Baek Gang Hyeok is the epitome of an arrogant egotistic bastard who marches to the beat of his own drums and confidently believes in his acquired skills. But that's because he has practically seen and done everything, and he's most likely the best in his field. So he doesn't just talk the talk, but walks the walk too. He puts his money where his mouth is, so to speak. If the role had been played by a lesser actor, I wouldn't have gravitated to him like I did. But Ju Ji Hoon can act like a total asshole but still be charming and likeable. I don't know why, he just exudes that kind of red flag but irresistible aura ever since I saw him in Princess Hours many many years ago. Besides, I rather liked his gung-ho attitude and his character reminds me so much of Dr. Gregory House and I love that bastard! lol Like House, he exhibits undeniable vulnerability and humanity that I can't help but sympathize with his obsessive desire to save every patient, and to think I normally find characters with hero complex tiresome.
Some have mentioned that he's like an unrealistic Marvel comic book superhero with a scalpel. But you would be surprised to find out that there are indeed doctors that have all-knowing superhero-ish vibe to them. I remember looking up to my family doctor like some kind of god-sent savior because he used to just take one look at me and ask a few questions, and he would know exactly what was wrong with me. His knowledge and skills came from years of practice, experience, and studying. He was the best doctor I've ever had and was deemed one of the best general doctors among his peers. Sadly, they don't make doctors like him anymore. That's why I don't think Baek's character is totally unrealistic. Plus, he's actually based on a real-life trauma surgeon, Dr. Lee Guk Jong, whose feats in this field are recreated in this drama to pay tribute to his contribution to Korea's healthcare system.
Sure, there are fantastical elements in this drama. No movie or show is totally realistic, if they were, then they wouldn't be half as entertaining. Writers have to create drama and tension for theatrical purposes and that's fine. I certainly don't think doctors are allowed to practically duke it out inside an operating room. lol It's a drama, what do you expect?! Even reality TV shows are not real. I must admit the mercenary doctors subplot was a bit much. I suppose they could have done it differently to make it more believable because it's certainly possible. Many doctors are deployed overseas for medical missions in war zones, so it's not improbable for some of them to serve as medics for mercenary organizations. If they had toned down the James Bond-ish and comedic aspects, it would've made the series grittier and closer to reality.
Ha Young as Cheong Jang Mi was probably my favorite. Her quiet strength and determination made me love her so much. She perfectly exhibits the struggles of overworked (and underpaid) nurses who have to plaster a smile and act cheerful in front of their patients despite all the exhaustion and frustration from stress and working with very little rest. Unfortunately, they don't get enough credit for that. I have many friends who are nurses and I would only sit listening to them in horror at how they're forced to sleep for merely a few minutes in the most uncomfortable places. Heck, some of them had to sleep standing up!
Choo Young Woo also did well as Dr. Yang Jae Won. His character development was quite compelling. He grew so much from being the uncertain and panicky fellow who was contented settling for a safe course in this medical journey, to someone who wasn't afraid to take risks and do it with much gusto to boot. But the character with the best development is definitely Han Yu Rim. My god, I hated that prick in the beginning! But he grew on me and I started to root for him. I like that he's a devoted father and he knows how to show gratitude. Even their hospital director got my respect in the end.
The production value of the drama is one of the best I've seen. I can tell they spent money on making the hospital look as real as possible. The writing is solid with minor flaws here and there, but I can suspend my disbelief and forgive the faults. I'm no medical expert, so I can't say the procedures or terminology are realistic, but they made it feel natural that I could believe it.
I liked this drama as a whole. It's not perfect but it's entertaining from start to finish. It has great characters that I want to cheer for and the emotional beats left me teary-eyed. Hoping for a season 2! Let's go!

The best K drama I have ever watched
I’ve been watching K dramas for 10 years. I like action dramas like kill it, and Vincenzo., are among my favorites, but Trauma Code is probably the best KDrama I have ever watched. It was fast paced, logical, and accurate (at least for the most part). I am impatient, so my tendency tendency is to fast forward through what I consider the boring parts of a drama.. I did not do that with this drama. I watched this drama through beginning to end. I do not understand why an administrative doctor would choose sabotage over the safety of a patient ( grounding the chopper). Sure, finances play a big part in the medical field, but to deliberately endanger a patient for revenge? I think not.Was this review helpful to you?

The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call
An unexpectedly pleasant surprise! This series is packed with dynamic action, striking a perfect balance between seriousness and humor. At the heart of the story is Baek Gang-hyeok, a genius trauma surgeon who has spent years performing surgeries in war zones like Syria and Afghanistan. He is appointed to lead the trauma department at a university hospital—a job no one else wanted. There, he meets the young and eager doctor Yang Jae-won, whom he takes under his wing. Alongside them, the core trauma team includes nurse Cheon Jang-mi and anesthesiology resident Park Gyeong-won. These four dedicate themselves fully to saving lives, no matter the circumstances.
Every character in this drama is so well-developed. In particular, I really appreciate the strong, skilled, and determined Dr. Baek Gang-hyeok. He is straightforward, charismatic, and just plain cool. His relentless dedication to saving every patient in front of him is truly admirable—he's practically a god in the operating room. His dynamic relationship with Yang Jae-won (aka "Anus" and "No. 1" 😂) adds both depth and humor to the story, making their interactions a joy to watch.
The surgical scenes are incredibly well-executed and feel remarkably realistic, adding to the overall intensity of the show. The fast pace, frequent emergencies, and non-stop action make The Trauma Code an exhilarating ride from start to finish.
Eight episodes just aren’t enough! I'm really hoping for a second season, with the entire team returning for more life-saving missions.
Yang Jae-won: "Why did you choose me of all people?"
Dr. Baek: "It’s simple. Because you’re a good runner. Every time I saw you, you were running. Running to save a patient."
And indeed, they were running—a lot! That’s one of the reasons this series feels so dynamic and intense.
This series will definitely be worth your time!

OMG, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call had me completely hooked from start to finish! 😭🔥 Every moment was packed with intensity, emotion, and gripping medical action. I absolutely LOVED it! Choo Young-woo as Dr. Yang Jae-won was just as amazing! His journey from an uncertain resident to a strong, determined doctor was so moving. The mentor-mentee relationship between Baek Kang-hyuk and Yang Jae-won was EVERYTHING. The way Dr. Baek challenged and guided Jae-won, while Jae-won struggled to prove himself, was so emotional to watch. Their bond, their struggles, and their growth felt so real.
