Better than I expected!
This was absolutely brilliant! The chemistry between the main leads was out of this world. And the cinematography was just beautiful. Definitely in my top 2 favourite Thai series. I will definitely rewatch this at some point. Super gutted it took me is ling to watch it…..Both actors did a brilliant job with their characters! Was this review helpful to you?
The Gold Standard of BLs
I cannot praise this bl enough. It’s an almost perfect bl. Realistically I would give it a 9.8 out of ten but MDL does not allow for that option. Everything is done to a high standard - the cinematography, the plot, the emotive acting, the soundtrack, the set design - everything. It beautifully captures the feelings of first love, with the bittersweet heartbreak and raw emotional awakening that comes with it. I completely bought into this teenage romance. It resonated with the universal feelings of angst, uncertainty and overwhelming emotions we experience as teenagers. I would even put this series up against mainstream productions. It’s that good. It really is a cinematic masterpiece. This should be on every bl watcher’s list.

Why should you watch this ?
It's an interesting portrayal of the relationship one has with others but most importantly one's self. I really enjoyed the focus on self discovery. Loving yourself first, looking at your reflection in the mirror and being content with whom you see.The love and affection that the main characters had for one another was beautiful, seeing them grow individually and together was unforgettable. They were just 2 people figuring out whom they are, what they want in the future and to whom their hearts yearn for, truthfully. Bilkin and PP Krit's acting abilities really gave their characters a voice. As viewers , we got attached to them because of how genuine and relatable they were.
I have watched this more than once and I promise you the moon, you won't regret watching it. If you aren't in a relationship, gurl aren't you about to feel single !

This isn't a BL, it surpasses that
ITSAY broke stereotypes and my heart, and I loved every second of it. The acting, plot, and characters were complex and beautiful. The way the characters struggled was so relatable and well executed it hurt. Not to mention the chemistry between the 2 leads, it was raw in a way few other BLs have portrayed.I loved the overall ambiance of ITSAY, and wished there was another like it. (Haven't seen IPYTM, too scared it'll make me cry like ITSAY did)

Masterpiece
OMG. Masterpiece. Best coming of age, BL or drama I've seen in a long time. The scenery, the production, the chemistry, the acting, the screenplay, the love story, the editing. I fell in love with every single character from this story. It broke my heart and it healed it back again. This is a resounding 10/10.Was this review helpful to you?
One of the best thai bl out there, mostly cinematographically talking.
Recently I decided to rewatch this series and it still surprised me like the first time I watched it. It is just THAT good."At first, the story might seem cliché and not unique - it's a friends-to-enemies-to-lovers plot. However, as you watch episode after episode, you realize that it goes much deeper than that. It reaches a point where you feel a whole mix of emotions and understand each character's position, even though their positions are completely opposite.
The characters in the story are truly exceptional. Each one is meticulously crafted and written, allowing you to truly connect with their experiences. The fact that they are teenagers experiencing love for the first time adds an extra layer of complexity to the story, which I find truly incredible.
You see how these teenagers are new in life and how they don't realize about their actions, how desperately they try to change them and how much agony they go through to be forgiven.
The cast is just gold. The main characters are simply just incredible, the way they make you feel their emotions every single second is mind-blowing. You feel them. You understand them. Even when they do something wrong, you are able to see the reasons behind their decisions.
And my favourite part of this series is the way it is filmed. The cinematography. Just 10/10.
I love it when the camera stays still while the character is just walking around submerged in their own thoughts, it makes it feel even more realistic and close to you.
This series is one of the best in every category. I will surely be rewatching this pretty soon.
If you haven't watched it yet, don't lose a second and watch it. It's completely worth it, every single second.

Poetry in motion
This was a very odd experience for me. I think I was crying most of episode 4 and into the start of 5, and it's one of the only times I can remember being okay if the mains didn't end up with each other. I actually was hoping for most of the last half that it would go a different way, and I'm not used to that.So let's talk about it. First off, I have to give immense credit to the writers and actors. The way they made you feel the emotions was absolutely insane, to the point where I often wanted to smack Teh and felt like he was breaking my heart. Oh-aew's facial expressions in particularly are etched in my mind now, and the hammock scene in episode two is stuck firmly as its next door neighbor. The middle episodes in particular had you feeling a sense of desperation and the desire they held for each other. It was like you felt a piece of thread being pulled tighter and tighter, and when you didn't think it could be tighter, it did.
I think of it as episode 3 was the crescendo and episode 4 was the crash. Simple intimacies were heavily integrated in the story in a way I think most BL misses, and that made this really special. Pair that with a sensational cast of characters, from Bas and Tarn to Hoon, and finally (my favorite) Tuty
I usually could care less about music in a drama, but this music was really integral and beautiful. It made sense and added to the story. There was always a purpose for everything in this drama I found, even some of the items of clothing provided statements.
If I can give one big takeaway for this, it's that the drama defines coming of age. The delicate exploration, the anxious trials of boundaries, the self-discovery... It's an experience.

The gold standard
But if we are set apart by destiny, I have to give up, don't I?You can tell that a lot of love and care has been put into this series. The acting was great---a lot was said without dialogue. The cinematography was phenomenal---I have never been to Phuket (as of writing) but it felt very nostalgic to me. The music was enchanting---I was caught off guard and bawled a lot of times. This is coming of age done right.
Story. The plot is on the familiar side, but the execution made the difference. The first episode accomplished one goal well, which was to establish the story of two young friends turned rivals turned lovers.
Acting/Cast. I didn't know Billkin and PP prior to watching this, and I thought they really did well. They have very expressive eyes, and I didn't feel any awkwardness at all. What a chemistry.
Music. The OST and the musical scores added to the experience. One of the things I loved about the songs, especially "Skyline" and "Significant", was how Billkin and PP gave different meanings to the same song. Vichaya Vatanasapt's musical scores were put in just the right moments and my personal favorite was "Phuket Home Coming".
Rewatch Value. ITSAY was definitely not a lighthearted watch, although I see myself revisiting it from time to time. It truly felt like Phuket was someplace you have always been, and will always come back to.

blood, sweat and tears were put onto this masterpiece
Insanely good!! Since they were kids, they were already meant to be together or it's a soulmate thing. It's a well-crafted progressive story that is filled with so many rollercoaster of emotions, if you watch this, you're in for a ride. It's so intense and I think it just portrayed what it's meant to portray on the screen, they picked the right story, actors, music and everything just hit the right spot.I applaud the director for this, it's so perfect! It's like watching a person's whole life where you know everything and watched them grow up. You can see and feel the emotions, every character has a purpose and isn't left out and because of that you sympathize with every character and understands them fully and that was so genius of the director.
Things that I don't like is how Teh was seeing Tan while flirting and developing feelings and initiating intimate moments with Oh-aew, it's giving cheating vibes even though the two weren't fully in a relationship yet and gosh Teh I know you're in-love but you're crazy for sacrificing your whole future for Oh-aew which he didn't even asked for so of course he would feel guilty about it!!
Memorable moments was when Oh-aew with the bra scene! It was so heart wrenching being not the type of gender and not having those body qualities of the other gender that make the person you love aroused, you really can't choose anything you're born with but it's so freaking awful just not having the things that the person you like prefers.. which becomes a problem and people would say such relationship won't work but the series told me otherwise that if you really value and want to stay with the person, such things will not matter that much.

I couldn't even get trough episode one.
I have been a bit scared to say this because of the reviews, and I wanted to like this SO BAD!! (but it's not like I'm gonna get held hostage if I say this) ... ANYWAY, I can't even continue watching EP 2, so here's my EP 1 review. The major reason I couldn’t continue watching.. is how dragged out the scenes feel. It honestly feels like the director cares more about how the show looks than how it actually plays out. And yes, the visuals are beautiful!! That part isn’t the issue. The issue is that every single scene lingers WAY TOO LONG, especially when the main characters are talking to each other.
Teh will say one line that takes 5 maybe 10 seconds, and then the camera just stays on him for what feels like a full minute?? And they’re not doing anything but just breathing, staring, looking longingly at the other person. And it’s like… okay, when is the camera going to move? When is the other person going to respond? What is supposed to be happening right now?
There’s SO MUCH staring, and TOO MANY longing looks!! And a longing look is fine, but when it’s every interaction, every conversation, every scene, it stops feeling emotional and starts feeling awkward. I don’t think this is an acting problem at all. I actually think the actors are good. It feels like a directing and editing issue, like scenes weren’t trimmed down when they should’ve been.
While watching, I kept thinking: did they forget to cut parts out? Am I watching the wrong version? Because the pacing is so off that it pulls me out of the moment completely. Instead of feeling immersed, I’m just sitting there waiting for the camera to switch or for someone to say something.
That’s why I’m not continuing. Not because the story is bad, and not because the actors are bad, but because the way the show is structured makes it uncomfortable for me to watch.
And the MUSIC?!? OMG THE MUSIC😭 I wish there was more of it during those goddam moments, but it's just so much static. I need atleast SOME background noises? Some birds chirping, some background voices, just SOMETHING. The music was nice too, I just wish there was more of it.
