This is what Thai BL needs

This is the type of drama I signed up for. This is exactly what Thai BL needs. A no nonsense, zero plot hole drama with marvelous acting , no cringe and having an actual valuable message about the world. feel MOD came out too early. It would have been a mega mega hit if it came out +in the present time.

Plot wise this is one of the best BLs I have seen, A crime thriller highlighting social injustice and crime against women spiraled with a love story between 2 men set in the amazing city of Chiang Mai. There were almost little to no plot holes. The story was intense, interesting and engaging. There were no dull moment and it kept me hooked even till the end. The mystery element is definitely done right but what truly hit me is the social problems that it showcased. I truly hope this drama leaves an impact in every viewers heart. Kudos to the writer for such an amazing script.

The direction and cinematography caught the color of a crime thriller. It was well directed for that era. The scenes were intriguing and it managed to showcase each emotions well leaving no space for confusion. The action scenes were well done.

What truly captivated me is the quality of acting from everyone including Max, Tul, Great and the reset of the cast. Each character did a splendid job in portraying their character. They put a lot of efforts carrying out each emotions and every action scenes. A big round of applause for the cast and crew.

Pulling off a crime mystery thriller in a BL is tough and that's why most people avoid doing it but MOD is a great example of how well written script, meticulous direction and impeccable acting can turn the ever so generic BL dramas into highly immersive and qualified drama.

Really good and disappointing at the same time.

Love Max/Tul and their chemistry is fire, but I had one problem with this show....wasn't enough NC scenes as the story overshadowed any possibility of adding more NC scenes between the main couple. And I know BL'S are not always going to have scenes like that, but as a BL fan, it's nice to see sometimes. I mean, they could of given fans a NC scene after they got married instead of only given us one in episode 7 (which really wasn't a NC scene)and then not give us one after that. More BL'S need to have NC scenes(with a plot and story) like Venus in the Sky or Kiseki Chapter 2, but that's just the fangirl in me talking and hoping more BL'S will began to do this!

A Must-Watch for BL and Thriller Fans

BL series often focus on romance, but Manner of Death takes the genre to a whole new level by blending it with crime, thriller, and mystery elements. Adapted from Sammon’s novel of the same name, this Thai BL series keeps viewers on the edge of their seats with its gripping storyline, well-crafted plot twists, and intense cinematography.

What sets Manner of Death apart from typical BL dramas is its strong narrative foundation. Rather than focusing solely on romantic tropes, the story thrives on suspense, keeping audiences hooked as Dr. Bunnakit uncovers secrets that put his life in danger. The romance between Bunn and Tan is developed organically, woven seamlessly into the mystery without overshadowing the main plot.

- A Well-Written Plot with Twists and Turns
From the first episode, Manner of Death establishes a dark and mysterious atmosphere, making it clear that this isn’t just another lighthearted love story. The pacing is well-executed—each episode offers new clues, red herrings, and shocking revelations. The show balances crime and romance effectively, ensuring that the investigation remains engaging while the chemistry between the leads remains strong.

The characters are well-written, with Bunnakit standing out as a smart, determined forensic doctor who isn’t afraid to challenge powerful figures. Tan, on the other hand, exudes an aura of enigma—his intentions remain questionable at times, adding complexity to the story. Their dynamic is compelling, filled with tension, suspicion, and undeniable attraction.

- Cinematography: Dark, Atmospheric, and Intense
Visually, Manner of Death embraces its crime-thriller elements through moody cinematography. The use of dim lighting, shadowy scenes, and a muted color palette enhances the suspenseful tone. The camera angles effectively capture the tension, especially in the investigation and action sequences. Whether it’s an intense confrontation, a quiet moment of doubt, or an intimate scene between the leads, the cinematography amplifies every emotion.
The setting, which includes eerie crime scenes and a small-town backdrop filled with secrets, further contributes to the show’s mysterious vibe. The production quality is impressive for a BL series, proving that storytelling and visual execution can elevate the genre beyond romance.

- Performances: MaxTul’s Natural Chemistry
Max Nattapol and Tul Pakorn (often known as MaxTul) deliver outstanding performances, making their characters feel authentic and engaging. Their chemistry is natural yet intense, adding depth to the slow-burn romance. Tul embodies Bunnakit’s intelligence and determination, while Max balances Tan’s charm and mystery with great nuance. Their interactions are filled with layers of tension, whether it’s through heated arguments, moments of vulnerability, or unspoken emotions.
Supporting characters also play crucial roles, each contributing to the overarching mystery. From corrupt officials to hidden enemies, every character has a purpose, ensuring that the story remains gripping until the very end.

Manner of Death is a standout BL series that successfully merges crime, mystery, and romance. It challenges the typical structure of BL dramas by prioritizing a well-thought-out plot without neglecting character development and relationship dynamics. The suspenseful storytelling, strong performances, and atmospheric cinematography make it a must-watch for fans of both BL and thriller genres.

If you love a series that keeps you guessing while delivering a mature and well-developed romance, Manner of Death is definitely worth your time.

the show that i WOULD recommend to everyone .

if you saw the headline, you may be questioning why is that. Well, let me tell you why.

At first, when i heard about this show, i weren't really convinced to watch it. I just thought it wasn't my cup of tea. Little did i know it would become one of my fav shows.

The story is REALLY well written, and when i saw 'really-well-written' i mean it. The story is like a big mystery, it's addicting and you never know what will happen. Literally, i couldn't stop watcjing this series because i was so into the story. ( i ended up watching this whole serie in 1 day. )

As for the acting, i have nothing to say. It was perfect. I just sometimes forgot that all of it was not real, the acting made me forget that those silly guys were just actors.

This serie is a mastepiece, and i won't shut up about it. All of my friends already know about it cuz i always talk about it. (they're anoyed by me lmao). But yea, this series is really good.

Storyline and chemistry and mystery

Best series ever watched.. re-watch again and again, but still give me same vibes.. amazing storyline with amazing cast. Love this series.
Max and tul nailed it..
They gave mysterious way of rollercoaster mood in every single episode. Suspense, thriller, drama and with the sprinkle of tan and bun love story and the cuteness of sorawit and tat.
And the main thing is max and tul not gave us korn and knock vibes. Korn and knock are not overlap tan and bun.
The story of crime I think in almost every country has this kind of issue and almost no one can dare to do something. This series give us reality of society. Not such a heroic act, but gave us the possibility of any person can do.

A diamond in the rough

This is truly one of my favorite shows! It is such a complex murder mystery with just a touch of romance. The story was fantastic, so well written and complex. It kept me guessing to the very end with so many twists. This show made me a fan of the writer Sammon. The relationship was handled so well. It just happened naturally and was tastefully done. Which is rare to find in a BL show. This is how relationships should be written. Also there was decent stunt choreography in this. It had a much higher level than the majority of dramas I have seen. The cinematography was outstanding! Northern Thailand has been added to my bucket list because of this show.
The two leads have wonderful chemistry and their characters are so well rounded. Max especially, impressed me. His evil looks are simply spectacular! I loved how the story developed and how the backstory for the main characters impacts the current events in the show. One of the best parts was the character development in the majority of the characters in the show, which is rare to find. The character development for Tan and Bun was particularly good.

There were many supporting characters that I liked and would have loved more time with or backstory. I always forget when starting to re-watch this show the dark the story gets and the second to last episode will always be hard for me to watch. Any story that gets an emotional reaction out of me is telling. But this story covers important topics and is so well done that is a stand out in the genre.

Fucking masterpiece.

MaxTul perfect as always and I love the fact that they're romance is not the focus of the series. I also really like that they talk about a lot of social issues and crimes. The way Bun is willing to do anything to know the real truth about Jane's death is heartwarming. I love this and I really hope it gets more recognition cause this is simply perfect.

When BL becomes a subplot to the highlight of human trafficking in Thailand

Now I watched this back in 2020 but a rewatch was needed because damn!

This show's pushes the genre far beyond its usual soft, school-age romances to go for a world shaped by violence, corruption and moral ambiguity which was, well, rather new back in 2020.

The chemistry between the leads is so funny rewatching it knowing what happens next and YET we are on for ride with one of most crazy depiction of "love at first sight". They're only two adults, pulled together not by coincidence but by shared anger for the death of their friend (ep1) & distrust (honestly Bunn thinking Tan killed Jane is so funny).

Now again: two mature people, no sex scenes (one is heavily "suggered" and that's actually the only one where it's made "clear" in the show), and a damn good plot driving them and the story. They don't start as friends, or lovers (well, on Bunn's side at least lol) but as mere partners searching for the truth.

But now let's go with what this rewatch really brought up even more: the story leans into noir—rural crime, political rot, and a community complicit in silence. No, the police isn't on your side, dear, they know and they're accomplice.

> Through its thriller narrative, the drama doesn’t just use darkness for shock value; it actively denounces the systems that enable human trafficking in Thailand and specifically on minors for sex trafficking. And honestly thanks for that, especially to have it done back in 2020 when BL was just on the rise (mind you, Manner Of Death came out BEFORE Bad Buddy set the mood so it is revolutionary in a way).

Besides, there's like... No plot hole, nice acting, sweet music and I just like so much the way it was filmed?? Like damn, for a 2020 drama, some camera movements were far better than lots of drama who came out this year lol. Sure, the fact that it was a "new" way to film bl helps A LOT but honestly this was a damn good show.

I came for the romance, stayed for the action and loved because of both of them

This series has been fantastic since the first minute. The first episode already contained so much information and action that i was instantly hooked.

When you decide to watch this, prepare to cry, but most importantly, prepare to be flabbergasted. Every single moment i thought i knew who the bad guy was, who the murderer was, who the villain of the story was. I was just wrong, every single time. I think i have actually suspected 5 or 6 people who were all wrong. The makers of this drama did such a good job.

Also, I was so hooked to the story that i forgot it had bl romance. In the beginning, there is barely any romance, so everytime there was some kind of romance showing in a scene, i was extra happy :)
I came for the romance, stayed for the action and loved because of both of them.

I also want to say that MaxTul did such a fantastic job. You can definitely see that the've pleyed together for a long time and their chemistry was just chefs kiss.

All the actors were fantastic, the plottwist were so good and unexpected and the story was phenomenal.
Overal... EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH THIS

After starring in Together With Me, Max and Tul were given the opportunity to take on the lead roles in this genre-bending series. I think they've matured even more as actors, especially the manly Max (Tan), who also became a wonderful symphony, perhaps even because they finally "brushed" off his forehead (in addition, the battles in his performance were convincing, no "just like"), Tul (Bun) was cute as always, it just bothered me a little bit how the Thai hairdressers made him stiff with the combing, but that's beside the point.
The overall quality is very high, I appreciate that they were no longer the "little boys" from freshman year at university.
The story is a bit long and overcombined. The first major erotic rapprochement between Tan and Bun in the seventh volume is so convincing, wonderful, and at the same time there is no need for big erotic scenes, that I haven't seen anything like it for a long time ...
If I remember this series, it will not be the shooting games and the complexity of the plot, but the almost perfect main pair of young men will always come to mind as dominant, both acting and appearance ... so I leave this review with the words of Buna Tan: " you smell beautiful" ...

Po hlavních rolích v Together With Me dostali Max a Tul možnost se ujmout hlavních rolí tohoto žánrem zcela odlišného seriálu.
Příběh trošku zdlouhavý a překombinovaný.

I loved this!!!!

I came to watch this not knowing or expecting anything, but I am so glad I watched this.
Dr. Bun and Tan are just perfect together! And That and Sorawit being basically the younger version of Bun and Tan are the icing on the cake.
Rungtiva and Pued did Jane so dirty, but at least Pued had a change of heart and tried to rectify his mistakes.
Inspector M’s and Bun’s love/hate respect for each other is so real!!!!
End of ep 12, when I see it’s the deputy all along whooping everyone’s butt and when he shot M, I swear I wanted to jump through my screen!!! But M lit him up in ep 14, yaayyy!!
Final ep when Inspector M came out as the backup plan I yelled!!! I was so happy.
Por saving the kids, YES, big bro!!! I love it!
Por and Tan have a long way to go but at least Por acknowledges Tan and doesn’t look at him with contempt anymore. And they are on the same page and helping each other. Tan has always loved his big bro.
I’m glad all the higher ups got caught, I hate that one dude was able to escape across the border.
Por avenging Peud, chef’s kiss, absolutely loved it.
The proposal!!! OMG I literally screamed!!!!
Would definitely watch this again!!!
