Mouse is a MASTERPIECE. The storyline is vague but is enticing enough to make you addicted to it. Creating theories, predictions and guesses are useless because the plot is so UNPREDICTABLE. This drama will make you punch the air, facepalm your face, sob some tears and die of nervousness. The EMOTIONS potrayed by every actor is on point and will make you emotionally distressed. The CAST ON ITS OWN is a 10/10.

Lee Seung Gi's dramas are always bangers and this is no exception. However from the beginning his character don't seem to stand out that much considering he is the main lead. This drama will make you curious as to WHY EXACTLY is his character in the drama. The relationship dynamics between all the leads are the main reason this drama carries such an impact even with a slow start. THE ONLY MAN WE TRUST IS KO MOO CHI!!!

It's like murder

Seriously, it's like they murdered the story. They turned the mc from cool serial killer, into a slightly less cool vigilante, into a repentant bitch. Because koreans are pussies who can't have a serial killer for mc, the dramas even of this particular genre must be preachy and politically correct.

From ep14 onwards the mc feels so guilty about killing people he had no emotional connection to, that his entire goal is to give himself in and get a death sentence, but evil conspiracy who cleans up after him won't let him so he wants to defeat them to finally die. What kinda protagonist is that, and what kinda goal is that? Cringe, that's what.

I could accept if he stayed true to what the drama presents as his nature (suspend disbelief here, all saiko-pesu are ruthless serial killers amirite) and continued doing what he's good at, but his plot armor eventually run out and he got defeated. That would be cool. But a protagonist who actively strives to his own self destruction? That's just painful to watch.

FFS. 8/10 for how great the first half was, just skip the rest.

What Could've Been

This question has been on my mind all while watching Mouse. If those serial killers were acting not out of choice, but due to their genetic coding, can we really blame them? I mean, their only real crimes were being born with bad genes, and that’s not their fault. This is the sort of thought-provoking questions that the show should have tackled. So, why didn’t it?
Mouse had the potential to become a truly great work of writing if only the writers had focused more on driving home a message about fate, willpower, freedom of choice, human capability for both good and evil, and our ability to change our preordained destiny. Perhaps that simply wasn’t the direction they intended to take. Or maybe the writers struggled to effectively connect these deeper themes to their central subject matter. Either way, Mouse ended up being a gigantic disappointment for me. Oh well, on to the next one.

Outlandish plot

The premise was interesting and I thought this would be right up my alley but unfortunately not. First episode started off strong (albeit violently) and my only gripe was the constant time skips that happened in quick succession. Second episode was going well until a barrage of new characters were introduced and I gave up trying to reconcile the adult versions with their kid counterparts. The whole in utero "psychopath test" was starting to annoy me because it seemed way too implausible and far fetched. Maybe if you're able to suspend disbelief but I honestly couldn't. I wouldn't have minded if the show decided to go into the ethics of the whole nature vs nurture debate based on this premise but it decided to veer sharply into sci-fi territory with brain surgeries and whatnot. I threw in the towel at this point since I was watching Beyond Evil at the same time and did not have the time and patience to keep up with the various plot developments of 2 different shows. When I saw the showrunners release a special episode just to clarify the relationships between the characters I realized I made the right choice. It is most definitely NOT a good thing if a show has to dedicate special episodes to make it less confusing to viewers. On the bright side, the acting was excellent, even the kid actors were great.

Conclusion: Watch only if you enjoy brain workouts. If you're looking for a casual serial killer thriller this is not the show for you.

I hate it when you don't get what other people see in highly rated dramas, but this is one of those dramas for me.

I totally enjoyed the first episode, it was thrilling and set up a great killer mystery plot. Then they pulled the 180/time jump/complete style shift/slow down that you usually get when they try to hook you with an awesome first episode. Episode 2 was like a different show. I almost didn't make it through episode 2 because it lost me that much, but I forced myself to episode 3 because of the reviews. It hadn't hooked me by then so I dropped it. The plot went from thrilling and fast paced in episode 1 to slow and a little comical. It just didn't do it for me.

The first episode in this series is simply the best!

Most will be on the edge of their seats experiencing tenterhook moments I reckon as it has one of the longest in depth graphic murder scenes, ever!

I just wish the other episodes that followed had been done in the same fashion not that they were terrible or anything plus I haven't finished the series yet.

Unfortunately, I worked out who the serial killer was early on as soon as I laid my eyes on him and that is why I haven't gone further than three episodes to date.

On checking to see if my suspicions were correct (they were) has more or less brought everything to a halt for me regarding Mouse.

I will get back to it and finish it at some point, but not right now.

What I will say is that the characters so far have been awesome as well as the story, but it would have been better had they misdirected or fooled me more.

I really wonder how many others worked it out like me?

Regardless, this still deserves recognition so comes highly recommended as it is a unique series full of suspense, gore and great story telling as well as characters that make it believable.

Most viewers will be eliminating potential suspects to get to the serial killer only what they know mightn't be right or who they think it is mightn't be the correct person...

Or...maybe it is the right one!

Title justifies the series

Loved the 1st episode. The suspense and the most importantly that intense in every scene and they explained about what this drama is about in 1st episode itself and also what is all about. And later episodes how they carry forward matters.
Snake and rat and a kid . Starting scene to ending how it is connected to a person wow..
I don’t want to compare this drama with any other drama or series until I watched it completely.
The reason to start watching this drama LEE SEUNG GI but because of 1st episode I’m more excited how his role gonna be later on.
Worth watching. 1st episode won’t disappoint you at all.

I guess this was one of those heavy dramas that one should thoroughly prepare oneself before committing to watching the whole thing.

Frankly, the initial premise of the show being that it may be possible to identify psychopath genes from the very beginning to identify future serial killers was an interesting idea. Yet, it also presents a moral dilemma of whether or not it's okay to try to decide whether or not it's okay to kill fetuses who may end up getting those genes. Or whether or not everyone has said genes will inevitably grow up to be killers.

While starting this drama, I suddenly recall Lee Seunggi mentioning that he wanted to play a psychopath character, which was a break away from the usual good guy roles he used to get. I guess, with Mouse, he's really getting that wish. With that in mind, one most likely needs to be wary while watching this drama since you may end up encountering some unexpected twists.

As much as the plot initially intrigued me, because it's been a while I doubt that I'd actually find the time to watch this. Dropping this drama because I'm no longer in the state of watching this without ending up becoming depressed about it.

Arte em forma de roteiro

Ainda não encontrei nada que me impressionasse mais do que esse drama. Confesso que no meio dos episódios fiquei com medo de me frustrar, porque eram MUITOS plots, muitos personagens (todos profundos e incrivelmente ricos em suas histórias), muitas fases... mas em NADA fui frustrada em minhas expectativas.

É chocante como o drama não precisou de NENHUMA muleta para ser genial. Nenhuma cena foi à toa, gente. Vou seguir essa roteirista Choi Ran por onde ela for.

Mesmo com 20 episódios, TODAS as cenas foram explicadas e resgatadas com a coerência do plot, entregando uma obra coesa, de qualidade e muita maturidade para abordar tantos temas pesados e tantos traumas diferentes.

O fato do plot não precisar explorar romance para prender o público também me agradou demais. Episódios longos sem nenhum minuto desperdiçado. Lee Seung Gi como Jung Ba Reum está genial. Com certeza esse papel marcou não apenas sua carreira como uma geração inteira de atores que vão sonhar e se empenhar para buscar esse nível de excelência.

Niente è come sembra- Il caos del sensazionalismo

Mouse è un thriller psicologico e poliziesco, con elementi fantascientici, coreano del 2021, composto da 20 episodi da 77 minuti ciascuno, circa. Tratta tanti, forse troppi argomenti: genetica, psicopatia, perdono, neuroscienze- neurochirurgia, biotica, religione e rapporto con la cristianità, varie tipologie di killer seriali ( organizzati, missionari, edonistici, dominatori), fanatismo e l'ingerenza delle associazioni governative con scopi utopici a discapito di poveri civili.
La trama si sviluppa tutta sulla ricerca di un assassino psicopatico nel quartiere di Mojiin, un quartiere di Seoul in un arco di tempo che abbraccia 26 anni :1995-2021.
Il montaggio è appositamente studiato per "incasinare" tutto e mostrare l'ambivalenza tra buoni vs cattivi e il ruolo del pregiudizio. Se prestate attenzione l'assassino ce l'avrete sotto agli occhi tutto il tempo, ci sono alcuni importanti indizi che lo svelano in modo intelligente già dal primo episodio e la prima scena del serpente e il topo riflette simbolicamente il lavoro. Il titolo spiega praticamente tutto il lavoro, la cui logica sarà chiara negli ultimi episodi mentre tutto il percorso mostra un po' i detective e i reporter impegnati nella caccia al più grande psicocopatico del secolo che si diverte a fare Dio, distribuendo punizioni letali ai trasgressori secondo una logica contorta, una caccia che riprende un po' quella del gatto che caccia il topo.
Il finale è karmico: con la nemesi da parte delle vittime e il riscatto da parte del protagonista principale. La redenzione è piena.
Considerazioni personali: il mio rapporto nei riguardi di questo spettacolo è stato ambivalente e molto discontinuo, inizialmente l'ho trovato noioso e inutilmente confuso e prolisso, alcune puntate mi hanno invece catturata e avvinta per la genialità nella scrittura sebbene alcuni aspetti mi ricordino alcuni thriller di successo americani come Seven o Mindhunter, quindi certi espedienti non sono proprio originalissimi tuttavia il prodotto è davvero una chicca nel suo genere. Ci ho messo due settimane a finirlo con pause di alcuni giorni perché ogni puntata va seguita con la massima attenzione ed episodi così lunghi sono molto stancanti. Inoltre ho compreso quasi subito chi fosse l'assassino, già al terzo episodio, pertanto mi rimanevano ben poche curiosità, ignorando che il grosso doveva ancora accadere. Alcuni episodi mi hanno stressata, esempio dall'11 al 14, una quantità infinita di nomi da ricordare e volti da associare, il ritmo e veloce e non frena per nessuno.
Dal quindicesimo l'ho letteralmente divorato per i colpi di scena e i pezzi del puzzle che andavano disvelandosi a poco a poco. Il finale poi mi ha letteralmente stregata e mi ha appassionato vedere come questo serial killer inizi a collaborare con la giustizia uccidendo altri predatori e ripulendo la società.

Regia: La regia di Choi Joon-bae e Kang Cheol-woo è una delle colonne portanti ma anche poco elaborata o innovativa, alternando piani stretti e claustrofobici durante le scene di tensione a campi lunghi e panoramiche per costruire respiro narrativo. Ho trovato alcune riprese troppo scure, talmente scure da faticare a capire cosa stesse accadendo.
Il montaggio è serrato nelle sequenze investigative e di azione, ma si prende il tempo di soffermarsi sui dettagli espressivi dei personaggi nei momenti emotivi.
Le inquadrature sono oblique e le composizioni sbilanciate per generare instabilità psicologica nello spettatore.
Sfrutta particolarmente il flashback per ricreare la linea temporale.
Il linguaggio visivo resta lineare e “pulito, senza stratagemmi di forte impatto ottico. Questo mantiene una fruizione chiara e accessibile, senza distrarre lo spettatore con tecniche vistose, d'altro canto può risultare meno memorabile dal punto di vista registico, perché non lascia una "firma più personale" come altri lavori, specialmente quelli di produzione americana.
Qualche effetto più innovativo lo potrete vedere sul finale, quando il detective scopre l'assassino, c'è una sequenza di zoom d'impatto mentre la camera va allontanandosi, che ricorda vagamente un dolly zoom effect ma non lo è.

Interpretazioni: i due protagonisti, insieme al Decapitatore, offrono una performance solida, credibile e variegata. Specialmente il Detective Moo Chi mi ha dato i brividi nelle scene di acting aggressivo e in quelle di profondo dolore traumatico. La sua prestazione non avrei problemi a valutarla con un bel 9. 8.5 per l'aiuto detective , il poliziotto Jung Ba-reum (il giusto, non a caso XD) e il neurochirurgo pazzo che gioca con i cervelli, in pieno delirio di onnipotenza.
Meno solide le interpretazioni di tutti i rimanenti personaggi, specialmente il cast femminile, che come sempre fa una figura zerbina in questo drama, insieme alla polizia che davvero ti chiedi come facciano le selezioni in Corea, un mix di letargiche connessioni sinaptiche stanche.

Scenografia: il drama spazia tra quartieri periferici, stazioni di polizia, luoghi isolati di campagna e spazi urbani anonimi. Ogni location è coerente con la narrazione e contribuisce all’atmosfera cupa.
Gli interni sono spesso carichi di oggetti e dettagli che riflettono la personalità dei personaggi, stanze in disordine e abbandonate a se stesse per individui instabili e irrisolti, ambienti puliti e ordinati per figure di autorità o con rigore morale.

Cosa manca a questo lavoro?
- Una regia più moderna e briosa;
- troppi intrecci, eventi introdotti e lasciati a metà, e poca chiarezza narrativa possono estenuare lo spettatore;
- alcune incongruenze logiche — ad esempio, il topo che viene inviato a Daniel Lee appare prima che il padre venga incarcerato ma si vede dopo l'incarcerazione, oppure la risoluzione di scene o personaggi lasciata in sospeso;
- troppi espedienti narrativi improbabili per puro sensazionalismo;
- elementi sci-fi o sovrannaturali rendono questo thriller psicologico a tratti quasi un fanta thriller con complotti governativi, venti psicopatici in una stessa città, leggi sull’aborto… troppo, tutto insieme;
- alcune riflessioni approfondiscono il tema del "gene del psicopatico" e ne criticano la scientificità, oltre all’insistenza narrativamente forzata ;
-sorprende ma è spesso imprevedibile a discapito della coerenza;
- messaggio assolutamente privo di ogni fondamento scientifico che la psicopatia sia legata solo a fattori genetici trascurando il peso delle esperienze di accudimento, dello stile genitoriale e delle esperienze di vita della persona (se analizziamo la storia sappiamo che ogni serial killer che si rispetti ha un passato di abusi e negligenze genitoriali alle spalle);
- colonna sonora solo strumentale e troppo scarna;
- mi sarebbe piaciuto vedere le vite delle persone invece 25 ore sono tutte dedicate alle investigazioni, alle spettacolarizzazioni del crimine, al profiling e poco si vede delle vite dietro le ricerche.
- registri registici differenti tra personaggi principali e secondari, a quest'ultimi è stato richiesto davvero poco in termini di interpretazione.

Per concludere, Mouse si impone come uno dei thriller coreani più ambiziosi e stratificati degli ultimi anni, capace di intrecciare in modo magistrale crime, psicologia e filosofia morale. La scrittura, pur complessa e densa di colpi di scena, mantiene un filo logico che accompagna lo spettatore in un labirinto narrativo dove nulla è mai come sembra. Ogni svolta ridefinisce retroattivamente ciò che credevamo di sapere, costringendoci a mettere in discussione non solo i personaggi, ma anche la nostra percezione di giusto e sbagliato. La costruzione dei misteri, l’uso di false piste e la precisione con cui vengono dosati indizi e rivelazioni dimostrano una padronanza rara della sceneggiatura, sebbene fantasiosa e priva di logica in alcuni passaggi.
Il finale si concentra su un valore più alto: restituire un senso etico e umano alle vittime. In un genere spesso dominato dalla vendetta e dal cinismo, Mouse sceglie di chiudere con una riflessione sulla colpa, la responsabilità e la possibilità di redenzione. È un epilogo che non cancella il dolore, ma lo sublima, suggerendo che il vero coraggio sta nell’assumersi il peso delle proprie azioni. Così, dopo un percorso narrativo intricato e mentalmente impegnativo, la serie lascia allo spettatore non solo il gusto di un enigma risolto ma anche una domanda aperta sul significato stesso dell’umanità.
