As China becomes a major commercial economy, the silk, embroidering, and weaving trade is booming – and a few influential families have risen to the top.

As such, the head of the family is nominally Ren Xue Tang, a gentle-hearted soul with a love for poetry and philosophy – and no head for business. His wife of some 10 years Shen Cui Xi is the polar opposite. Fiery, opinionated, and fiercely competitive, she keeps the family business firmly on track, with her peerless embroidery skills.

Set in the late Qing dynasty early republican era. The play tells the story of Chu, who came from a family of traditional Chinese medicine in the early years of the Republic of China. During her time there, she met three men: Xia Chu, Chen Da Shun, and Wen Zhi Qiu.

The tough life of someone who has to fight everyday to reach uphill due to the men in their life. Both characters show the trials of youth into adulthood and are commoner status women who use their intelligence to be better and above the expectations presumed by others.

- Kind-hearted, highly capable wife works together with her husband's mistress in textile business and in taking care of the family after the husband went missing.
