Logical errors

I finished the series, even though it was hard. I liked the plot. But there were mistakes, errors, whatever you call them, in every episode of the series. They made things happen that didn't exist, they made things happen that shouldn't have been done. They got stuck as they wanted. The series of mistakes continued from beginning to end. I look for logic in events. I look for their conformity to reality. I am careful not to make a mockery of them. But it is still a story of success and revenge. It was interesting. That's all. Especially the male lead (ML) is not a suitable lead actor. I would ask where you found this actor and gave him the lead role. Because he is not romantic, he looks like he is going to beat you, he curls his lips like a bad guy. He doesn't have a star face. But he plays. He did. Good or bad. I can't say that he got along with the female actor. They had a hard time in some places. It was obvious. But then they probably got used to it. They seemed compatible in some places. The female lead (FML) looked a little better and dragged the series. I think it was better. He could be given female general roles. Instead of giving these roles to weak and feeble girls and moving away from reality, these roles should be given to people like Xiao Ran who are more upright and look like they can pull off whatever they want. Although Jin Han was successful in the action scenes, he was successful. I think he should play the bad guy, he should play comedy. He seems more inclined to these. Roles with romance in them are not for this guy. He looks very repulsive as a type. I didn't like it. There is no star type in my opinion. Apart from that, I really liked Du Ya Fei, Zhou Zan, especially Wang You Shou. I said he should be the leading star actor. Here you go, STAR TYPE. It's a shame for this actor. I also liked Chen Fang Tong, Gao Fei, Hai Ling. He Hong Shen was successful as a guest actor. The child actors were very good. Well done. Would I watch it again? Probably not.

At times the storyline is unrealistic and loopy.

I actually found out about this drama via AvenueX's YouTube channel. While I disagree with most of her negative comments about this drama, I can understand why this drama doesn't have a rating over a 8.5.

Characters:
The female lead was married as a princess (episode 1), but engaged as the physician's daughter around episode 3; she broke off the engagement, but then got married to her sickly cousin just to treat him, solely because he was too shy to allow her to treat him without clothes on; but again, she broke that off too by getting divorced. The only one she liked was her childhood friend, who was a prince. While the characters don't drive me crazy, I still don't understand why she hated her husband so much, the one who she married when she was a princess in episode 1. Granted, she didn't ask for the marriage but as a princess, this is what came with the title, the fortune, and comfortable life. Her husband, at least in the first 19 episodes actually loved her, and did her a favor by marrying her sister, in order to protect her from their uncle. So, I would have liked for the scriptwriter to have either made his character totally evil (referencing the character the female lead married during episode 1), or given a better reason why the female lead didn't like her husband.

Directing:
The female lead actress, is a great actress. I know this because I've watched Good Bye, My Princess. However, in this drama, she acted with a, 'I don't really give a f,' kind of attitude throughout the whole drama. I don't like the fact that the director directed her to act this way. I believe the director should have directed her to act as a princess would have acted (e.g. a bit arrogant & privileged but strong willed), instead of a princess who is aloof most of the time.

Storyline:
The storyline is actually good, although not great. The reason why I gave this drama a rating of a 8.5, instead of a 10 for the story is because some of the scenes were not well crafted, and there are loopholes in the story. For example, somewhere around episode 2 the princess gets surgery and is turned into looking like the physician's daughter. I thought to myself, this is super unrealistic, and the scriptwriter and editor didn't even bother to come up with a logical explanation to why a ancient physician would be able to change the face of the princess, while in a cave. All she had around her head when she woke up were bandages, which btw, were loosely wrapped around her head... SIGH.

Editing:
Overall, I am enjoying this period drama thus far. I am currently on episode 19, but I did take a break to watch other dramas! For some reason the faces of both the female lead (same actress from Good Bye, My Princess) and the male lead (same actor from The Princess Weiyoung) look strange. I know that these dramas are often edited (e.g. lightening the actors skin to make it appear closer to the color white). However, the editing this time, in terms of changing their facial shape, was not done well. At one point, I even thought that they both may have had plastic surgery, which honestly there's nothing wrong with, but I concluded that it was just bad editing.

Funny, well performance

Story could be stronger. The ld actor is very funny. The lead actress performed well on this drama. She is at best at this one. I watched her in goodbye my princess. That was the worst of her acting.

At the beginning of this story, it was too slow development. Then as the story developed there are interesting plots. It is more fun with the male actor who made the story more fun . I laughed through out his scenes.

The ending was too slow. The third actor could be better. I would watch it aSgain later when I have time.

So happy

Look, that actor, Du Ya Fei, who played the psychopathic guard is in my top five C-drama characters and funnily, I think I liked him even more than the lead actors who were already impressive. Very few actors are able to show different emotions just with their eyes and lips alone but he managed to infuse so much energy into being an obsessed, deranged, and evil guy that somehow got the audience's empathy.
Wow, where do I start? The story was tight and ALL the actors brought their A-game which has to be a testament to the director and of course the scriptwriters. Not one moment did I think the story unrealistic or the character's behaviors incongruent with the plot. Even the subplots were nicely done.

Then there was our heroine who was intelligent and steadfast even when the tide was against her and not once was she made to be a mary sue. Bravo to the scriptwriters.

Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised that JIn Han could play a good guy for once because he's made being the bad guy enjoyable to watch. I first noticed him in Princess Weiyoung where he played the truly evil general and he looked so hot just going around wreaking havoc everywhere he went.

I can't wait to watch this again.

Why are Chinese series so long ?

I’m not a fun of Chinese series. However I have to watch them to improve my Chinese. The only choice I have when it comes to Chinese series is between really bad series and the ones that are not that bad. Guess this one falls into the latter category.

Characters:
The FL is so good. Her medical skills are top notch. Which is not surprising because as a princess she had time to practice medicine, also just because her best friend and father were doctors, that makes her a doctor too by default. She can cure all manner of sicknesses. I was actually waiting for her to raise the dead or sth. 😂 😂

She turned from an impulsive princess who attempted to assassinate the king in broad daylight in front of guards to a thoughtful and calculating person who had to count the cost of her actions. Damn her luck, she puts herself in very dangerous situations but no worries she has a savior, the ML.

I don’t mind having a strong female lead but making her the only strong woman was just so annoying. I won’t even bother to talk about the other characters. As the title suggests this whole series is about JiuLing. The show made sure you cared about no one but her. It throws in your face, how good she is at everything, how all men like her, how she is so kind and selfless. I guess her only flaw is that she didn’t know Kung fu(that’s okay her battlefield was the sickbed, leave the fighting to her savior).

Honestly I’ve had to endure worse Chinese series for the sake of improving my Chinese. Wish there was any other better way. For those who would like to watch this, it’s honestly not as bad as others out there.

A traditional drama with medical and political aspects

A strong strategist FL for a change is quite a welcome change. The plot was intriguing at first then it turned unrealistic really fast.

FL was supposedly wise, then why did she impulsively attacked the emperor just like than? Of course, she'll be caught and taken to prison. She was suddenly successfully rescued with a new face and a new identity. Then her journey of finding justice begun.

A wise, patient, kind, selfless and pretty FL plus a legal husband, a childhood sweetheart, a sickly cousin and a fiancee from her dead bestfriend is now my new definition of "it's complicated".

Too slow phased for me plus really unrealistic scenes were too much.

Wherever this is going it's going without me !

I dropped it after watching 11 episodes.
I just can't keep watching this when nothing makes sense. Like if she was this smart why attack the king openly ? Why is it normal to go on an edge of a mountain to grab a flower alone ? Why is the acting of all the actors so poor ? Or maybe they act well but it's badly endited ? Whatever nothing makes sense or stands out.
Even if the FL is smart and pretty (my type of main character) i think the story is just badly written, the plot could've been really interesting if written correctly.
FL and ML don't even have that much of chemistry on screen for me to keep watching for the romance only.

Doit-on détester? Aimer?
