This drama does the best 'Sunshine & Grumpy' trope☁️✨
So, I just binge-watched the show and let me tell you, RangRang and Zai Zai have got to be the cutest couple ever! They're like the epitome of a perfect relationship. I absolutely adore how deeply they love each other and how they're not afraid to show it, both in words and actions. And their communication skills? On point! They never let any silly misunderstandings come between them and tear them apart🌸Oh, and can we talk about the "Sunshine & Grumpy" dynamic? It's done so well here! RangRang might be an introvert and not a big talker, but boy, does he make it clear right from the start that he's head over heels in love with Zai Zai. Actions speak louder than words, right?
If I am being too critical then the only thing that left me a bit disappointed was that they didn't show Zai Zai's pregnancy or their adorable child, 'You.' I would've loved to see more of their interactions as a family of three☁️
All in all, this show is an absolute gem. The chemistry between RangRang and Zai Zai is off the charts, and their love story is just heartwarming. I couldn't recommend it enough!
Now all I want is for Zhou Yi Ran & Zhang Miao Yi to be in a drama again❤️✨

Korea should take notes
This Drama was sheer perfection. EVERYTHING was right about it: The tone, the length, the story arcs, the character development, the music - everything. The perfection of tone and length were closely related. Because the Drama was a perfect length, just 14 hours total runtime, the tone stayed sweet and positive throughout. I am a hardcore brony, who just LOVES a good romance Drama. In recent years, Korea has stopped producing any. Instead K Drama writers have decided that nothing says "romance" more than having a serial killer as a major part of every "romcom", or resorting to fantasy pairings like a girl with a demon, or a girl with Cupid, or a girl with a Reaper, etc. etc. etc.
What the writers of THIS Drama got right was in understanding that a simple, sweet, uncomplicated "girl meets boy and it's love at first sight" story is ALREADY pure fantasy, and doesn't need any other baggage thrown in. No need for dark scary psychopaths whose only real function is to pad out the overlong run time. No need for love triangles, stalker exes, or anything to spoil the short sweet fluff. Evefn the creepy, sleazy client was presented as a brief a nod to reality and a setup for more OTP bonding.
This worked because the characters were well-written, and this leads me to the main reason why on my personal database, I scored this as 11/10. This Drama is very much in the model of Itazura Na Kiss and all its clones, but with one HUGE difference. From It Started With a Kiss to A Love So Beautiful and lots of similar Dramas in between, I have watched "cute ditzy girl falls for hunky brainiac" A LOT, and this is the VERY FIRST ONE EVER where the FL had an academic strength in which she excelled the ML and even taught him. That was ASTONISHING. My drop rate for C Dramas is high, more than 50% of the C Dramas I start I drop, and that's because of the toxic chauvinsitic misogyny rampant in modern C Dramasd especially. The heroes are good at EVERYTHING, the Fl good at nothing, except pehaps EQ. Not this one. To see an ML & FL tutoring each other and helping each other as true peers was beautiful.
This equality was openly expressed in the dialogue too. The scene where the ML defends the FL to her young cousin by telling him how good the FL is at English (sad we never hear her say a single word of it) was an example of the quality of the writing. Since I rely on subtitles, and since I know how VERY much is literally "lost in translation" whenever I see a Drama where I'm blown away by the quality of writing IN THE SEBS, I think about how awsome the actual dialog must be.
I loved the sensible, down to Earth forthrightness of the FL. She knew what she wanted and went for it, but she also grew as a person and was never passive or whiny. The ML was great too, a great example of a "damaged" ML who was NOT tsundere. His little speech at a product presentation he gave about the impact of the FL on his life was magnificent, as was his thoughtful, PRIVATE proposal.
Whenever I need a remider of why I fell in love with East Asian Dramas in the first place, and why when they get it right they are truly I magical, I will FLY TOWARDS this Drama for a rewatch

so adorable...
I just finished the series and I genuinely feel empty. This series makes you feel like you were there with them, watching them grow up throughout the 24 episodes. I also loved the aesthetics and the way they used the camera as a diary. This c-drama shows you the beautiful youth of the group that'll leave you feeling nostalgic. The story might seem simple as the story doesn't contain such plot twists or love triangles or a lot of dragging yet it gives comfort :). I also love that the series ended so peacefully and nicely. And not to mention the proposal of Lurang that made me cry 😭 (where can I find Zhang Lurang's?).
I'd recommend this c-drama to people who'd rather like it simple and don't want too much chaos and just cute moments, so if you're not sure if you want to start, please do!!

Cheerful vibes only
This dramas gave me that nice relaxing feel I needed, just a couple of characters enjoying their youth. I loved Zai Zai's and Lu Rang's high school bickering and their friendship that slowly rose to love, the cheerful vibes and funny moments in this drama. The other factor that I absolutely adored was the vlogs Zai Zai made almost everyday about anything, like secretly filming Lu Rang in the bus and almost getting caught, this scene was just so adorable. Or when she was filming before the trip and then overslept because of it. I also loved her friendship with her best friend Jiang Jia, her relationship with her family and her group of friends, the way they made each other to forget about their worries with their cheerful spirit. The humor was very good and fitting in here. This drama was really peaceful to me in every aspect!
I loved the dating era of Zai Zai and Lu Rang a lot, they were a great pair together. Zai Zai was for sure pretty bubbly during it and that made her adorable even more. Sometimes I felt like Lu Rang doesn't know how to act like when they were taking the picture together in a restaurant, but overaly I think he was pretty caring and nice to Zai Zai.
I love to watch dramas of high school - college - working life type and this one was pretty good!

not boring to watch
i have been watching foreign drama series since 2006. And by so far, I only have one that i've been watching all over again "it started with a kiss" and its season 2 "they kiss again" and have not found any show that will surpass my addiction to it that I literally watched a hundred times more. Until I saw "when i fly towards you". I've fallen in love with the characters. I have been watching it twenty times now, and maybe years to come might watch it hundred times also cause I can't get bored on it, everytime I watched it, it's the same feeling when I first watched it.. simply I just love this seriesWas this review helpful to you?
Truly one that lives up to its hype!!
Rewatched for the second time - and somehow the feelings I had when I watched for the first time intensified while rewatching that it felt like I was watching for the first time.Exceptional drama with an amazingly built storyline for the squad of 5. From the very start to the end, not a single moment was wasted.
Zhang Lurang and Su Zaizai’s chemistry is so unmatched -truly a ‘she fell first but he fell harder’ moment. She was the light in his dim world.
Aside from the main couple, even the second couple had phenomenal chemistry with quite the realistic yearning. Their friendship was enemies to lovers but they both fell in love in the process through acts of service.
This drama portrays the different love languages through multiple characters and does so seamlessly.
Amazing scripts and phenomenal cinematography - it truly deserves to be one of the top 2023 chinese dramas.
One of the most beautiful ending I’ve seen and I couldn’t picture it any otherway, especially with how beautiful the script was for the last episode.

I loved it so much?
The impact of this drama on my life is profound and unforgettable. It stirred up a rush of emotions and memories from my high school days, leaving an indelible impression on me. The genuine, unwavering love shown by the characters, their unbreakable bonds of friendship, and the enchanting music have all left a lasting mark on my heart. The scenes of watching the sunrise, cherishing moments at the beach, and wholeheartedly pursuing their dreams together brought tears of joy to my eyes. This drama will always have a special place in my heart, and I am immensely grateful to the creators for bringing such exquisite art into the world. As someone once said, this drama is full of once-in-a-lifetime moments, and I wholeheartedly resonate with that sentiment. The simple joys of youth portrayed in the series deeply resonated with me. There's so much more I could say, but for now, I'll leave it at that! Was this review helpful to you?
Managed to stay relevant out of the many school youth romance dramas out there
I was overzealous about its popularity in the review forum. Now I knew why this drama was a hit. Basically, it was the authenticity of the story, of the characters, of the dialogues, and of the emotions that no surprise this drama got a higher number of viewership. The story might be made up but it was identifiable in all aspects related to adolescence. The fact that they do away with the glossiness and overdoing of scenes, this drama was able to create an impact. All five main youth characters were all lovable and funny who formed a nicely typical friendship while studying. Later on, young love started to grow among them because of constant togetherness which led to a happy ending to one of the pairs. I am making a special mention and credit to the screenwriter who gave us lots of prudence words here, which you might consider simple after hearing but practically logical with deeper meanings. This I think was its breakthrough aspect over other dramas. The story showed some of the general representation of a youth who was naturally impulsive, carefree, bubbly, and timid at times; and precise descriptions of their dilemmas over confession of young love, romantic anxiety separation, pressure on academic performances, difficulty in expressing oneself, and uncertainty of one’s dreams. It was packed with life lessons beneficial to young students transitioning to adulthood and the people around them.
Having watched this set of five good decent kids in the most candid narration of experiences set at grade 10 days following university life up until to working environment, I supposed, it obtained a distinguished spot in the collection of this genre that conveyed positivity and encouragement. How nice also for this drama to have brought us to our memories of shared experiences of our very own first stomach butterfly feeling and simply recalled that “Liking someone means caring for him or her”, and that person becomes “Your ultimate solution, like a magical remedy that can cure everything.” The love story of Zhang Lurang and Su Zaizai was a thing of cuteness and maturity, another envious beautiful romance to name. If I were to pick a drama out of the many that left me happy thoughts after watching it, When I Fly Towards You is one best fit to mention.

It's like a shot of espresso for your soul—energizing, addictive, and oh-so satisfying.
Picture this: you're scrolling through your streaming platform, looking for your next binge-worthy obsession, and BAM! You stumble upon this little gem. Let me tell you, from the moment I hit play, I was hooked like a fish on a line.First things first, let's talk about the characters. Su Zai Zai? Total firecracker! She's got this infectious energy that just lights up the screen, and her chemistry with Zhang Lu Rang? Off. The. Charts. I swear, sparks were flying from my laptop!
But it's not just about the main couple—oh no, this drama's got a whole squad of side characters that'll steal your heart. From the goofy antics of the friend group to the heartwarming bond between Guan Fang and his grandma, there's never a dull moment.
Now, onto the love story. Su Zai Zai and Zhang Lu Rang's journey from high school crushes to grown-up lovebirds had me on the edge of my seat. And let me tell you, their confession scene? I was practically squealing with delight!
But hey, I'll be real with you—this drama isn't without its flaws. There were a few moments where I wished they'd slowed down and given us more juicy details, like at graduation ceremonies or during the second couple's love story. Seriously, they deserved way more screen time!
But despite these tiny hiccups, "When I Fly Towards You" is like a shot of pure adrenaline straight to the heart. It's got romance, it's got drama, and most importantly, it's got heart. So, if you're in need of a pick-me-up or just want to indulge in some seriously addictive drama, look no further than "When I Fly Towards You." Trust me, you won't regret it!

The best at school youth drama
With no unnecessary drama and love triangles, this drama is my personal favourite at executing the school love concept. The story was cute and smooth-sailing, very binge worthy and enjoyable. The characters are all so lovable, and the 2nd lead couple, oh my god why are they SOCUTEUFHBJCA. Both couples are super cute and I LOVE their friendship and dynamic (btw jiang jia's smile is so pretty nsdjvsdf") The love is very adorable, heartwarming and so pure, making me scream and cry fr.The music was alright but nothing caught my attention too much. I do like 2 of it though, its very calm and chill vibes. Acting was great, chemistry is impeccable and overall was amazing. 10/10 recommend, wonderful drama and a joyful ride!!

Simple, sweet and pure kind of love.
I genuinely enjoyed this drama. Best youth drama so far! It has the right amount of sweetness and fluffiness. This drama brought me back to my high school days where everything was simple and less complicated.
The simplicity and purity of the relationship between the two main leads/characters make the series outstanding.
That scene where they countdown to doomsday was so hilarious yet so precious. Their frienship really bloomed beyond time and season.
I hope these young actors can fly high as their dreams in the drama. Jiayo! Job well done!

Major BUTTERFLIES. Honest and cute school drama
Absolutely recommend for those who are just getting into cdramas or like lighthearted and sweet dramas! This is for sure a low drama type of show that can drag on a bit at the beginning, but the character development of all five friends is incredible, and they truly bring out the best in each other. I would compare this to Falling Into Your Smile, Love020, and Put Your Head On My Shoulder in its pure romance first love type of vibes. I also loved the main characters’ acting, especially Su Zai Zai (it was easy to see why Zhang Lu Rang liked her). Their chemistry was spot on and gave me so many butterflies. Lastly, this is definitely a she fell first but he fell harder show. Probably my favorite show since 2021!Was this review helpful to you?
