He needed her, and she needed him. ?

As someone who doesn't really like school drama's, I prefer mature romance. Though I have seen a few, they're not my go too. I was very reluctant to watch this, but i figured after watching Hidden Love, (which I wanted to watch since i knew the manhua would become a tv series). I figured its the best time to watch this school drama... so i hope my review helps those who may not be so interested in school shows. When I first started this, after the 2nd episode i wasnt sure if i should drop this, not because it wasn't going well thus far, its precisely because of not watching much drama in this genre, but because i already decided to watch it, i didn't read much comments and i didnt read any reviews, i went in blindly solely because i had planned to watch it, and the ratings was pretty high for a school drama... so i wanted to give it a chance 😄 and well!!!!!!!!....................

This was simply amazing!!!... Everytime i think something clichĂ© was gonna happen, instead it just exceeded my expectations. It's the first I thought a show deserves 11/10 đŸ€.

I've watched hundreds of shows and just a tiny few make me feel content after watching, but this show... i feel soooo happy, content and satisfied after watching this 😌â˜ș ......................... yet, somehow I just wanna rewatch it right away haha 😄 😂

I give 9 for music, because since it started from 2012 through the music i can feel so much nostalgia, it wasn't something amazingly great, but all the songs fit the show very well.

What I loved about this show was that It was great having a FL be enthusiastic and foward without coming off as annoying, or (dumb, the acting felt so natural from the FL, i thought she was adorable 😄. It was also really great having a ML who was aloof without being a mean jerk 😅. Even the side chracters are so likeable and you enjoy there stories too.

I enjoyed the progress of the love story, from acquaintance, to classmates, then lovers. The timing for everything was well put together, even if it may not feel that way after you're hakfway through, just know it comes together so well and nothing, absolutely nothing was rushed. It was also really great seeing the interactions with the main couple from school until the end, they just fit so well together. The frienship was soooo amazingly beautiful, like it made me feel sooo nostalgic, i felt like i wanted to go back to school to make friends like that 😄

But most of all, I really enjoyed seeing how the FL with a beautiful personality and genuine care and love became a bulldozer and broke down the ML walls. I also loved how the ML made the FL wanna always try her best and be herself. He needed her and she needed him!. Whether in academic or in love.... they were truly what i call soul mates!!!!

Smooth, perfect, easy going drama!

This will be my most favourite CDrama of all times I think for now. Personally don’t really like CDramas a lot cause you know there are so many cliches that go into them like childhood friends, accidental kisses etc. and then the thing that would annoy me was the second leads acting, (honestly just my opinion) it would be so over that at a point I would prefer stopping that drama. BUT came this drama!!!!!! I don’t know why honestly but I really loved this drama!! The second leads are also so faaarrr better. Although I know few might feel a little bit unrealistic but me preferably watch dramas to escape reality, so for me it was a 10/10 drama. Also what made it more watchable was that the ML was not a rich guy, not a guy with good grades, not a guy with perfect personality like they usually show it. It was really nice to see how he was also imperfect and how she was also imperfect! My favourite part was how the character of ML develops in such a soft way!!! I really liked how he was all so sweet and girly in front of her after they started dating! The small things he did for her, the way she always showed how she liked him but never really admitted it. And not to miss his proposal!!!! Both the times, when they started dating and he proposed to get married was the sweetest!! It started with the vlogs and ended with one it
you know when they started dating i was thinking how this relationship will move forward. Cause we knew how introverted the guy was, but ig it was from the starting that she had made him so comfortable with her that it was soooooo good to see him in the relationship!!!
Honestly after watching this drama I don’t wanna be single anymore😭.
don’t mind my reviews, they are a little rusty cause this is the first time i am writing one!

A MUST WATCH !

Wow. I don't even know where to start with this, 'When I Fly Towards You' changed my summer of 2023 in the best way possible. The chemistry between RR and ZZ was simply unmatched. I haven't smiled for a couple like I smiled for them in a very long time. The way that they stand by each other's side and always support each other NO MATTER what is something so refreshing to see, communicating their problems and resolving their few misunderstandings quickly. It's all down to the trust they have in each other and it's so beautiful. The scriptwriters and the director have done an unbelievable job in making us feel for ZZ and RR. I almost felt like I was their friend and built a connection with them. All five of them are characters that I'll miss, unique in their own ways but come together to form unmatched friendships. WIFTY made me feel warm and cozy inside, the characters gave me a sense of comfort when I saw them on my screen. The high school friendships, keeping in touch with each other after graduating, seeing the five of them grow together was so beautiful. I will miss seeing the five of them together, laughing, smiling, crying and cracking jokes. The actors portrayed their roles so well and I promise you will not regret giving WIFTY a watch. I will 100% be rewatching this beautifully made drama.

im cryin

my healing drama omg, at first the eps are a bit boring though. around 3-5 it picked up .. i think its mainly because i didnt know if there was going to be any misunderstanding or clichee. I have cdrama/kdrama trauma.. i kept thinking something was gonna happen

whats crazy that i think is crazy is realizing zhang lurang is the bare minimum .. a caring, attentive .. etc is bare minimum .. especially with the communication and both sides believing in each other?? THAT IS ALL NORMAL GUYS. this drama has opened my eyes alot. i love this drama its healed me alot. i miss my friends hah

IT REMINDS ME OF MY YOUTH

This a perfect drama for me .I enjoyed everything about it. It reminds me of my youthful day. I love every character in it and their prospective. The friendship between the friends till the last was amazed me . I am going to remember it for the very long time.

Personally,
It teaches me if you love someone just be brave. Let him/her know your feelings. So that you could be loved by someone. It gives me lots of courage.

It's a very good drama about youth, friendship. You are gonna love it.

A feel good innocent romance and coming of age drama made full of heart and care

PROS:
-Effective cinematography and shooting styles, I also love how the changing four seasons is shown throughout. The accompanying OST are wonderful too.
-Beautiful lines and quotes, among my top favourites:
Ep1: The rainy day that disappeared, I really want to get sprinkled again
Ep 5: If time can be suspended, I hope they will always be my good friends, the kind that never leave
-Green flag characters; the main characters in this show have positive outlooks and actions in their life
-Female lead Su Zaizai is one of the female lead with most positive attributes in Cdramaland - bold, cute, kind, chivalrous, brave, able to stand up for her rights and help others in need, and more mature than what her energetic personality suggests. Her sunny disposition rubs others in a heartwarming way(including the viewers such as me).
-Male lead Zhang Lurang is an introvert but unlike negative introvert characters in the past, he's reactive to Su Zaizai's advancements, it's a two way arrow. His little smiles which keep growing by the finale is adorable to watch.
-The 'squad' of 5 is adorable, their friendship gives off a special feel to adults like me, something that I may once feel back then in my schoolyears but get lost in time as time goes by and adulthood takes over. One of the most effective friendship scene where I shed my tears is when Su Zaizai found the rest rummaging the trash to help her. Great shots, great emotions felt without much dialogues or exaggerated emotional outputs.
-There are not much about the family members, but they are nicely depicted to show how Su Zaizai and Zhang Lurang grow into their sunny vs introvert characters. Other than that, Guan Fang's grandma has some of the subtly emotional scenes of the drama, and I also feel for Zhang Luli. His talk with Su Zaizai tugs at my heart.
-There is no prolonged third parties or major incidents in the storyline, most issues got resolved within 1 or 2 episodes.
-24 episodes at 30-min runtime is just nice, the pacing is comfortable for a leisure binge or daily watch

CONS:
-The female lead might feel too shamelessly into the male lead in the first few episodes (it gets better as male leads reaction gets more obvious and more of female lead's positive personality shown from episode 5+)
-Storyline is generic and lack of dramatic twists and turns in the plot, it's a flat slice of life drama about some kids growing up into adults, full of youth romance tropes
-The romance is innocent, even their kisses at the end feel innocent though sweet, there are no steamy romance and intense sexual pleasure
-There is not much details towards some other characters and sub lines in the end, such as Zhang Lurang's parents
-Their daily school-college-work life feel too idealistic and gave off a dreamy vibe, lack of touch with realism

OVERALL:

It's a story of a little sun and a sunflower finding and 'flying' towards each other. Must watch if you like coming of age genre with an innocent, pure young romance done exceptionally well. One of the best in this genre. Stay far far away if you want intense romance, dramatic issues, dark characters, tragic events, harsh reality...

Sweet and cute drama

So i bumped into this drama when i had just finished watching hidden love. I had zero expectations, wheb i started watching i was like it must same high school first love kind drama. But drama was way too good. No love triangles, it did not feel like it was stretched to make it into 24 episodes or i did not feel bored while watching. I wont give spoilers, just my honest recommendation to watch this refreshing drama. The love between main lead couple and even second lead couple was cute. There were scenes i was thinking why cannot i find this kind of guy/ boyfriend. I was definitely jealous. Beautiful drama the most favorite thing of mine was end of the episode where Female Lead would read simple and nice lines. The vlog was so cute hush im jealous.

When I Fly Towards You (Appreciation Review)

If you’ll ask me what youth-centered friendship, high school setting with nostalgic trip on the side, does have a beautiful ending and of course well-written CDrama that I can recommend, l’ll say When I Fly Towards You in a heartbeat.

I started watching CDramas again after so many years and surprisingly I encountered my favorites this time. (Meet Yourself, Wifty, and The Love You Give Me).

When I Fly Towards You really encapsulates what I want on stories. Aside from having a fun set of friends that met during their youth that supports each other and treat everyone as their own family, I admire how everyone was so well written. From our lovely 5, to their classmates, parents, and precious grandma.

I was quite shock to encounter a FL that really speaks what’s on her mind and can communicate properly. She chase her ML earnestly and sometimes it’s cringey but that’s how teenage love moves — clumsy yet beautiful.

Su Zaizai is so well written that I always cry whenever she assures Zhang Lurang and protects her friends whenever. I read somewhere that if you’ll strip away the affection of FL/MLs to their counterparts, what would be their personality? Can they stand alone or just be a character that would revolve around his/her partner?

And I saw that Zai can stand alone and make her story regardless of having Rang. She has dreams of her own and stands for herself. There was this scene that they were preparing for college exam and they promised to be on the same university. But Zai assured him that it’s fine if they wouldn’t pass and be separated because they can make arrangements for their relationship.

I know it’s only 25 episodes and couldn’t show much conflict but they handled the jealousy, separation, and some problems beautifully. Rang doesn’t talk really much but he protects Zai and do whatever she wants as long as they would be happy. His acts of service with her words of affirmation really tops all of it.

I really also love how they incorporated the videos because the nostalgia sucks you up. Youth dramas are so beautiful as stand alone but having well-written characters is rare. I laugh and cried with them.

Also how can I forgot the beautiful conversations and well-thought lines. From grandma’s being fireflies or streetlight, Zai saying that Rang is 101%, it’s okay to be a second placer, or one’s existence can be meaningful to Rang saying that he unconsciously wait for her to look at him and became greedy along the way so he wants to be with her and ending it saying that Zai’s glance was a hint that his light was coming.

This is a brainrot because I don’t know if I can encounter again this kind of drama. I just kept on rewatching again everything because I love them.

FL really mastermind her way to ML and she succeed flying towards him.

Cheerful vibes only

This dramas gave me that nice relaxing feel I needed, just a couple of characters enjoying their youth. I loved Zai Zai's and Lu Rang's high school bickering and their friendship that slowly rose to love, the cheerful vibes and funny moments in this drama.

The other factor that I absolutely adored was the vlogs Zai Zai made almost everyday about anything, like secretly filming Lu Rang in the bus and almost getting caught, this scene was just so adorable. Or when she was filming before the trip and then overslept because of it. I also loved her friendship with her best friend Jiang Jia, her relationship with her family and her group of friends, the way they made each other to forget about their worries with their cheerful spirit. The humor was very good and fitting in here. This drama was really peaceful to me in every aspect!

I loved the dating era of Zai Zai and Lu Rang a lot, they were a great pair together. Zai Zai was for sure pretty bubbly during it and that made her adorable even more. Sometimes I felt like Lu Rang doesn't know how to act like when they were taking the picture together in a restaurant, but overaly I think he was pretty caring and nice to Zai Zai.

I love to watch dramas of high school - college - working life type and this one was pretty good!

The best of the best!

THIS DRAMA IS A MASTERPIECE. I've seen so many c-dramas that I loved, but this one really takes the crown. This is proof that you do not need love triangles, second leads, infuriating misunderstandings, toxicity, messy drama, or breakups to make a well-written and captivating show. Other dramas in recent years also accomplish this, but the way WIFTY does it is just so perfect and magical. It may seem like a typical coming-of-age youth drama with a basic plot in a clichĂ© setting, but it’s actually special in a lot of ways, and it's also executed SO WELL that it doesn’t matter. There are so many valuable lessons to learn from this drama that are beautifully interwoven into the characters’ lives as they navigate adulthood, and it is so healing. Every part of the story is meaningful and the delivery is on point. I’ve seen a lot of dramas that fall under this genre/concept or use similar themes, but this is easily my favorite. (Warning: long review ahead.)

The character development is incredible. The relationship progression between ZLR and SZZ, in particular, was so natural. I loved that they were kinda together even way before they were actually together lol, like it was so obvious they liked each other and there was never anyone else. It felt like they were already committed to each other before they even came close to confessing and becoming official, but it wasn't some corny, lovey-dovey thing – it felt very genuine and realistic, and it happened gradually but not like a slow burn (they managed to achieve the perfect balance). ZLR wasn’t the cold, tsundere type you would expect him to be. He’s quiet and introverted, but not mean or aloof. He’s quite clear about his feelings and intentions and he reciprocates the things she does for/with him. He is kind, he looks out for her, he notices her, he’s attentive, he shows he cares through small gestures, he always responds to her messages/calls/letters, he speaks to her gently, the list goes on and on. It is such a breath of fresh air to not only see an FL who is super active but to also see an ML reciprocating and not ignoring or dismissing her or finding her annoying. I feel like it’s so rare to come across this type of relationship dynamic in dramas – it’s always one chasing and the other rejecting, but that doesn’t happen at all here. He doesn’t really hide his feelings about her (he did shy away sometimes at the start or pretend like he wasn't doing anything special for her when he obviously was, but it was charming and she can always read him like a book – and he knows she can), and she definitely never hid her feelings for him. This is the first drama I’ve seen that depicts this pre-relationship phase so well and takes its time with all of the subtle-yet-obvious actions, hints, and glances between them as well as the teasing, jealousy, cute interactions, and candid conversations. And it never got boring, the pacing was really good and every episode was interesting and entertaining.

And once they actually started dating, their relationship was literally everything I ever wanted. They actually communicate and talk to each other. There are no fights or misunderstandings. They unconditionally support each other and are always there for one another. They wholeheartedly trust each other and never let anyone or anything interfere with their relationship or get between them. They are thoughtful, considerate, and understanding toward one another. They are both the greenest flags and bring out the best in each other. Undoubtedly one of the healthiest relationships I’ve ever seen in a drama, especially in a youth drama. I just love them so much, they're so sweet together and are absolute couple goals. I felt so single watching this drama.

I really felt for ZLR when it came to his individual arc about his backstory, family, and academics. There were a lot of things I could relate to, and you can see how his upbringing shaped him and affected his self-esteem. It's a tough story with complex emotions and feelings involved, I could understand him on a deep level and my heart really hurt for him at some points. I am so glad he opened up because of his friends and that we got to see him smile and talk more as the drama progressed, and I like that his demeanor changed gradually while still staying true to his reserved nature and personality. It felt very natural and authentic. It was wonderful to watch him develop into a more confident person, and I really admire him for being well-disciplined, persistent, determined, and resilient. And as for SZZ, I love how she knows her self-worth. She is the cutesy type of FL like we’ve seen many times before, but her character is actually different and refreshing in a lot of ways. She has a backbone and stands up for herself and for what’s right. When she is wronged, she will defend herself and make a good argument, and she doesn’t back down when challenged. I like that they didn’t reduce her to the typical dumb, poor, helpless, naive FL. Her femininity and vulnerability are portrayed very well, and her confidence, eloquence, and tenacity really shine too. SZZ has her own strengths, she has so much to offer and I'm glad they highlighted that. For example, ZLR and SZZ tutored each other since ZLR was better at math and SZZ was better at English. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, like we all do in real life, and can help each other improve. And when pursuing ZLR, she valued her friendship with him above all and never begged him with the whole “pick me, choose me, love me” thing. SHE chose him. She believes in him. And as good as he was for her, she knew she was good for him as well whether it be as friends or more – and they really are the best for each other. She may have been the clingier one in the beginning, but she would never let him or anyone walk all over her. She showed that she would never chase after a man who doesn’t like her or doesn’t want to be with her. She is strong-minded, smart, brave, courageous, and also highly emotionally intelligent. She is adamant about pursuing her own goals, and I completely agree with her that we should not sacrifice or give up our dreams for others – we should focus on ourselves and become better together. I love that they are strong as individuals and even stronger together. And I enjoyed watching the rest of their friend group grow as well.

All in all, I loved the whole storyline and all of the main/side characters. Everything just felt so real and organic and human, and this drama really teaches you a lot about life, school, family, work, and relationships. There is nothing I would change. I could nitpick and say I wish we got to see just a little bit more of ZLR and SZZ's married life at the end, but I was totally fine with it (after all, this was a youth drama so the focus was on that). Honestly I'm grateful they even included those extra bits, the finale was beautiful and really wrapped up the show nicely. The kiss scenes maybe could have been a little better but they were fitting for the setting and characters so I was also ok with it, they were still decent and did not take away from the show by any means. With how amazing the writing, acting, and production is, I can't bring myself to criticize this drama very much, it was flawless to me. I am so happy I have found my ultimate comfort show. I’ll definitely be rewatching this one often. 10/10!!!

Highly recommended series for you to watch.

I usually don't like slow-burn romance but this is the only exception because they didn't make it seem slow, it's just at the right pace, not too slow nor fast. Personally, I wouldn't say I like love triangle so if u don't like lv triangle too this is one of the best series for you to watch. There are no unnecessary dramas here and it's very wholesome to watch, I actually caught myself smiling, grinning, and kicking airs since they are so cute lol. Their friendship is also very cute, funny, and very positive. Ost is also good, I love their opening song too. Acting is also good. Not cringy. Of all C-dramas I watched, this is one of my best C-drama series so far.
